[Q] Home button not working - HTC Inspire 4G

Hello there.
I'm about to buy an Inspire 4g from some guy for a low price. The problem is that the Home Button does not work. He says that his sister sent him the phone with that problem. All the other things are working fine and the phone is almost new.
I think it might be a firmware problem (I've read about similiar cases on other phones), it's weird that only that button is not working. What do you guys think?
I mean, if it actually is a hardware problem, why is it only that button affected?

It could be anything, from a faulty wire to a firmware problem and in between.
Obviously if you buy it, buy it real cheap. Depending on your technical skills you might be able to solve it.
Fixing a hardware problem like the LCD could go to the 200USD mark, obviously cheaper if you buy the screen and reassemble it yourself, what price is he offering?
If its a software problem it might be much easier.
Consider the price, all in all, its a great phone

Thanks for answering.
I'm from Perú. Here, a new Inspire 4g on "Mercadolibre" costs from 470 to 540 USD. He is selling it at 348 USD.
My technical skills are zero, but I'm sure I can learn.

No way would I pay 348 for a broken phone. You can pick up working Inspire 4Gs on ebay for under $200.

Really? In Perú smartphones are exaggeratedly expensive.

You could buy new on ebay for under $348. All sellers will not ship out of the country but many will.

You could put an Android 4.0 ROM on it and enable on-screen navigation buttons.
It takes up screen space, but you get a home button!

cracked digitizer

hey everyone, i cracked my skyrocket's digitizer, it is still fully fuctional just looks like crap. i was wondering if i could get one for cheap, and at the same time i was wondering why they are so exspensive. when i had my old iphone 3gs the screen was $10. why is the screen for the skyrocket $185+. it seems rediculous to me. if you could give me advice or even point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated
its a brand new phone to the market, only a few weeks old, u can't expect the digitizer to be cheap, of course its going to cost that much

It's not a "few weeks old". Stop lying to the guy.
It is still fairly young though to have spare parts in massive quantity, making things a bit expensive.
Don't buy just the digitizer..in my experience Samsung LCD/digitizer combos are just that,a combo that doesn't like to come apart. Its possible but its a PITA.

So, has anybody been able to find the outer glass only? I can't order the $200 digitizer+lcd... makes no sense...

Q: Screen replacement kits?

My girlfriend broke her screen yesterday on an Inspire 4G (I also own an Inspire 4G). After going to places like Fone Zone and the like we have been told there are relatively cheap screen replacements available online. We wanted to try this instead of paying Fone Zone over $100 to fix. Any recommendations on where to find a cheap but decent screen replacement? Thank you in advance guys.
Look on ebay.
EBay is good or you can Google it, there are 1,000+ cellphone parts etc out there.

Pay the money to get it fixed right. Replacing the screen on HDH/Inspire is not trivial, and I don't think it can be done by the average person.

[Q] Is this a good deal for me?

Okay, so I bought a sidekick 4g on ebay for $26. Only like a small portion of the touch screen worked. So I bought a touch screen digitizer on ebay for $19 and replaced it for myself. The thing is the buyer didn't list in the description that the IMEI was blocked, which means that I won't be able to register to any networks at all. So basically this was a media player to me. Then I listed it on ebay for $95, thinking nobody would buy it. But it turns out somebody did buy it which shocked me cause who would wanna buy a $96 media player? But, right now I'm kind of hesitant whether I should sell this or not, cause this is the only phone/media player I have, and I really seem to like this phone now, it's decent. I LOVE the keyboard. So my question to you is, Is this a good deal for me? And if there any other phones out there I can get for the price that I sold this phone for? MAybe around 100 bucks?
Eh, for a little more than 100 and some searching, you might be able to get your hands on a decent g2.
I returned a G2 to switch to the SK4G. There is no better phone on the market for me (read: no better keyboard). For a media-player though, I'd think touch-screen would be fine, so just get the fastest Android you can find. Ton's of sub $100 options on eBay.
Ugh. I can't find any good cheap phones. Anyone wanna thrw out any names?

[Q] Low cost digitizer from U.S?

Hi guys,
Posted this in the other galaxy s2 forum since 727 was not listed on the forums page (had to search for it).
Anyway I'm helping a friend replace his broken screen/digitizer and I've noticed that the cheapest ones on ebay (or anyone for that matter) are about $150. Even iPhone digitzers are cheaper so I thought that maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. Anyone know of a good place to get them cheaper for the I-727?
The cheapest digitizers on eBay are $120. It doesn't matter if they're from China or from US, AFAIK you get exactly the same one.
You can't and won't get anything cheaper. Due to your inquiry I can safely assume you don't know one fact - unlike other manufacturers, Samsung packages LCD+Digitizer as a single unit, and separating them in anything but a dedicated lab with special tools is extremely hard / impossible. This is the reason for the cost.

Appreciate it,
Didn't wanna go for one from china because of the shipping times. Guess he'll have to bite the bullet on this one, thanks

Screen Repair?

Hello everyone.
Just bought a Nexus 5 off somebody on craigslist, one big issue. Broken digitizer (I did know this when I bought it). Glass itself is mint, not even a scratch. However, the digitizer is all kinds of f***ed up, and the touch does not work. Phone itself works fine, I can confirm.
Has anybody sent their Nexus 5 in to LG recently for screen repair? If so how much was it? It would be $10 to send it in and either get it fixed or not, so I'm wary about sending it in without knowing a price. Anybody know? I'm guessing $100-$150 area, friend could do it for me with just the parts but obviously I'd prefer LG to do it. Just wondering.
Thanks!

Call a service center for an estimate, but i guess 100-150 USD will not be sufficient for the part plus assembly.
Do lg instead. I bought a screen from ebay and the screen didn't even work correctly. It didn't compared to the original screen. It cost me 150 for that third party screen replacement. I heard that's the price for an OFFICIAL screen from lg as well. That's what I'm planning on doing next.

idk, I've heard it's $146 some places, $100 others. They don't give out estimates, it has to be sent in (odd).

As stated above make sure they`re talking about a original LG screen and not some cheap Chinese knockoff.
I replaced the screen my self ..It cost me 135 on eBay. What is nice is that the screen comes with the housing and buttons and pretty much all you do is drop the pieces into the new housing. Look up a few tutorials to see how its done. Also bought a few tools so all in all it was $150.
