Hey guys,
I want to sell my Desire s so i want to get s-on again for that. As now i get the eng hboot and restored my backup of the original one. but i'm scared if a can brick something if i simple flash the ruu. i heard about the misc_version problem.
As now i'm on 1.28 firmware with eng hboot.
If i type fastboot getvar all in cmd i get this output:
C:\Users\...>fastboot getvar all
(bootloader) version: 0.5

so do you guys know if i can simply run the ruu?
thanks in advice!
@Jahai
You will need to change the version-main of your phone to flash a RUU, so follow one of the downgrade threads here, it has the procedure to change the misc version and then install the old RUU (1.47.401.4 if you want to make it easier to root again, 2.10.401.8 if you want it to be the latest)
Tried it already but if I type ./misc_version -s 1.27.405.6 it says that this isn't a directory :/
Can you say me what I have to do to change my mainversion?
Read through the whole downgrade thread's first. Lots of people have that problem. Then come back or post in the threads.
Try this:
Code:
adb push misc_version /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version
adb shell
/data/local/tmp/misc_version -s 1.27.405.6
exit

i cant go to my rom and stay in hboot.
how can i make gold card without going to rom?
Odd, your cidnum is HTC__J15, the only RUU that has that number is
RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M_release_177977_signed
And since your misc-version is 1.27.405.6 that RUU should flash.
I checked
RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.4_Radio_20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M_release_199410_signed

And they don't have that cidnum.

yes yes yes yes. it worked. U R nice man.
just how could i khnow the cid code of e rom?
and can i change my cid ofter s-off and reinstall other ruu?
When you extract the rom.zip (run RUU and go to the temp folder for rom.zip) inside the android-info.txt file.
Yes you can change your cid once you have s-offed and then install the RUU of choice (thats if you like being s-on and stock.
However you better make a goldcard just incase and if I were you i'd s-off and flash sense 3 roms if thats what you want.
Same Problem
Hey,
I have same problem and i have not fixed yet.
Here is some solution about making goldcard, maybe it can help.
And this is my subject follow it maybe somebody help me first..
good luck.
Why not use custom roms or at least pre rooted stock roms?!

Hello,
I'm trying to revert my phone to the original state. I's been S-OFFed by revolutionary method, so I flashed eng HBOOT as it was suggested in another threads. Then I tried to flash original rom from RUU. At the beginning it gave me the error 155, so I tried flashing directly from fastboot and everything seemed OK until the end, where it wrote a message about some signature failure.

I would like to hear some advice, what should I do next to fully revert to stock ROM, unroot and be able to use official updates. Thanks.
You should have flashed MISC partition hack from "downgrade HBOOT" thread before running the RUU.
Your problem is this:
<T190050><DEBUG><OUT>FAILED (remote: 43 main version check fail)</OUT>
RUU didn't like your main version.
So,
should I change the main version using the misc_version utility and then rerun RUU flashing process. If so, what kind of version should I choose or it doesn't matter. Right now i'm using the old ROM 1.28.401.1
I don't want to screw things up, that's why I'm asking.
The misc_version script flashes 1.00.000.0 by default, AFAIK. It's fine. Anything below the version you intend to use is fine.
Thanks a lot for the clarification. After changing the main version, RUU flashing went smoothly and all OTA updates installed without problem.

At this moment, the phone does not start. Still see T-Mobile Logo. Nowhere is the software that needs RUU T-Mobile PL version such as above. Any other RUU doesn't work. ANY. I downloaded "RUU_Saga_TMO_PL_1.47.118.4_Radio_20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M_release_206156_signed", but this also don't work because it's older than I have.
I tried to do this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318919, but stops at this point: Modifying the version of your phone. I can't do this: Connect the phone using USB cable using "Charge ONLY" and USB Debugging is ON, because my phone doesn't start up. And everything stops at this point: "adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version". I see information: "There is no such direction". Anyone Can help me? In this moment I can't do anything and flash any RUU or any ROM. I can't start up my phone.
Take your IMEI number out off that straight away unless you want your phone being cloned!

so you mean that you already did it unlocking your bootloader then already installing custom recovery like 4ext or CMW right..?
if so...you can installing any custom rom (just choice rooted stock rom or closely like stock rom but already rooted) and flashing boot.img too after that (no needed to flashing boot.img again if you already using 4ext recovery and enabling smartflash from there)..
after your phone back booting normal again..then you can continued step to downgrade process for gaining s-off..that's just if you needed it..
hope this can help..
It's working Many many thanks!!!

did you try also the third RUU from the link you show me?
how did you manage to corrupt those partitions?
did you have installed TWRP?
Yes I do had TWRP for long time to install the CODENAME LUNGO firmware as no other recovery allows to install. Having installed this firmware for a month or more I tried to do full wipe to refresh the ROM but cache started giving errors like .E: unable to mount cache error in memory block.
I will try the third RUU today and let you know.
Is there any work around to shift cache and data to sd card from internal memory?

No display, no lights. Complete dead. Just gave it to hardware technician if he could find board or memory replacement.
Hello all, I was trying to S-off my phone in order to be able to flash hboot of version 2.15(i guess the most supporting). But stumbled upon a problem - I need a live Android, ie ROM running to S-off. But all I have is fastboot and TWRP 2.3.0(some later won't boot too)
I now don't have any ROM at all, all ROMs I tried won't boot on my hboot. Actually that's the reason I'm trying to upgrade my HBoot. It seems to be a vicious circle, unless I find a ROM which will run on my config
Code:
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.13.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 0.16.31501S.17_2
(bootloader) version-cpld: None
(bootloader) version-microp: None
(bootloader) version-main:
(bootloader) serialno: HT23XW411592
(bootloader) imei: 359901041873577
(bootloader) product: vle
(bootloader) platform: HBOOT-8960
(bootloader) modelid: PJ4010000
(bootloader) cidnum: 11111111
(bootloader) battery-status: good
(bootloader) battery-voltage: 4180mV
(bootloader) partition-layout: Generic
(bootloader) security: on
(bootloader) build-mode: SHIP
(bootloader) boot-mode: FASTBOOT
(bootloader) commitno-bootloader: dirty-d92cc658
(bootloader) hbootpreupdate: 11
(bootloader) gencheckpt: 0
As you can see I gained SuperCID already, did it in recovery as a prerequisite for Facepalm S-Off
Solved
OK, I can confirm that RUU_Ville_U_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.1_Radio_0.15.31501S.13_3_10.08.31501S.04L_release_250115_signed
contains boot.img and system.img files which boot on hboot v1.13
In order to flash that system.img I needed to copy it in recovery to /sdcard,
Code:
mount -o loop
it and manually copy the contents to /system, because flashing with fastboot failed:
Code:
sending 'system' (1048572 KB)...
FAILED (remote: data length is too large)
finished. total time: 0.006s
After rebooting stock will come up
