I'm looking for a custom rom to the Creative ZIIO 10". I've been looking all over the web and haven't had any luck finding even one to try. The Ziio needs some improvements software wise and it doesn't sound like Creative plans any further updates. Or even good customer support for the apps that don't run, which is a long list. I've rooted and "fixed permissions" and still have issues. So the next step I'm thinking is a custom rom. Has any one out the found and/or tested a rom for the Ziio?
Thanks!!

With great respect to all developers that contribute to this forum:
WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO HACK CAMERA DRIVERS IN G TABLET HONEYCOMB ROM SO THAT WE CAN USE SKYPE AND OTHER APPS THAT NEED CAMERA FUNCTION WITHOUT DOWNGRADING ROM??
We want it...
THANK YOU.
Also i would like to say that GtabComb ROM 1.6 (now at 3.3 version) is report by many to have fully functional camera. The latest versions though do not have a working one. So what is it that made it function at that version? I personally use the Flashback 10.0 ROM.
some more remarks
Since no developer has replied i would like to ask some more things in regards to the honeycomb port camera drivers and if still noone answers then let them be....
Why don't use drivers from earlier versions with some kind of fix?
Why don't try to fetch drivers inside already installed systems that have working cameras and then make some kind of fix for g tablet?
Why does the HONEYCOMB PORT GtabComb v1.6 has a WORKING camera?
Why nobody doesn't have the slightest idea on how to make camera work on a honeycomb system?
I am not a developer myself but with all the respect i cannot understand why is it so hard to make a micro camera work at least...
Thank you.
Camera Drivers
I must personally say after trying the "Bottle of Smoke" and "Flashback" ROMs... the developers have done an amazing work. Thanks and congrats to the developers and ROM cooks.
Honeycomb has improved significantly over previous versions of Android and it is heavily comparable to other tablet (i)OSs.
In this particular case I can only miss the Camera and some flash functionality. But I can live without it considering the other improvements.
Now I ask:
Ins't it a matter of maybe getting the camera driver for say Linux and recompiling it for android?... Most manufacturers already make drivers for other OS's like android.
Cant we load the previous driver/module that worked?, the original Tap 'n Tap ROM had a working driver. Which is the filename?
Has anybody opened up the gTab and looked at the camera chip on the board, the brand, and model so we can do some research?...
Im sure we can find a solution for this issue, after all the beauty of this whole ROM thing is the amounts of flexibilty there is
If anybody has any answers to this maybe we can tray and find some solutions.
I recently bought a ZiiO and at first look it seems like an excelent tablet for is price. But it get's me frustrated to be stuck on Android 2.2.1 version as well as stuck on Creatives' propritary updates.
At first glinpse on the device everything here looks like it has been developed according to the hardware. Not having market, not beeing able to mess around
Searching and researching on the web allowed me to root my device and install common software like the Market.
Then I realized that ZiiO's hardware is capable of supporting USB Host which sadly hasn't been enabled on the kernel that's compiled on the device. Looking at config.gz made me wonder why on the world would Creative do such a thing.
Has anyone been able to dump ZiiO's boot or kernel? I need to recompile the kernel to enable some flags. Has anyone gone through this expirence that can lead me on the right track?
Having such a variety of devices on the world makes me confuse on what should and could be done on this device.
Hi Guys,
I am still a very new Android lover (8 months to be exact) and have already rooted my Sensation and looking at other avenues of getting things more exciting.
My first question is this: I recently downloaded the MIUI ROM, namely this version: JBMIUIv4.1 #2.8.17. Here on XDA there is a download for an updated version namely JBMIUIv4.1 #2.8.22, however I cannot access mediafire for some reason and really would love this new ROM. Is there an alternate download link available for this updated version available please?

Ok, now this is something that has been been asked many times BUTas a Windows Mobile developer, it creates an issue because my goal is to get into Android development. However, I do not want to develop the Android Apps (pretty much the same thing I do already but on Windows). What I want to do is to take a ROM, customise it from the bottom up for any specific device for example - HTC Sensation, compile it and deploy this.
Now I have already dabbled a little with the kitchen related stuff and never really got that working. What I am in search of is an accurate, step by step guide for developing, building and deploying various ROM's for the masses BUT on the Windows platform.
I already have Eclipse, cygwin, CRCStudio and and and but cannot get what I am looking for; and I have been searching for some time now and nothing really pops out and says ok, here we go use this to customise you ROM from scratch and by this I mean, the ROM, adding things like Beats Audio, Changing the look and feel of Android itself (like the Sense and MIUI), how to kitchen it properly and all of this as a start for HTC, Samsung, etc.
I want to add some value and have some really cool ideas and opportunities, especially here in South Africa where I am from the only way this will happen is if I get YOUR help.
Can anyone work with me on this or direct me so that I can get things started, PLEASE!!!!
perhaps one of the best rom so far for android is AOKP with lots of feature but that would be great to integrate samsung framework in it to be able to run pen's features . I hope someone can come up with a solution for it
Picked up one these tablets its a commercial built android tablet running KitKat 4.4, this has a bespoke install specifically for retail management in the form of integrated MokiManage software. While the software can be turned off and your left with a big standard Android tablet (seriously the onscreen keyboard is massive), i would though rather have a standard android install than one with features enabled & disabled according to the manufacturer requirements.
It is possible to access the recovery to implement an update but;
1. Would it be possible to replace the bespoke install with a standard KitKat ROM?
2. Its brand new & built to withstand Saturday morning kids playing whack a mole on it, would YOU risk bricking it?
Hi!
I can't find anything at all on xda about that device. You could try a Google search, or try asking here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help
I really doubt you can do much with it though. You would need to have something created for your specific device, and I can't find anything.
Good luck!
