I've been having some issues since the Android update from Motorola to 55.13.25. The camera will open, but it won't save the pictures. It will save the first 2 or 3 pictures that I take, but after that if I want it to save them I have to reboot the phone. I can't download anything off the internet browsers on the phone either. Seems like it could possibly be a problem w/ the SD card, but I can still look at the pictures and videos that are already on the phone though. Should I just try reformatting the SD card and see if that works? I'd rather not b/c it's a 16GB w/ a lot of stuff on it.
Plug it into your computer transfer everything over to your desktop then format the sd card transfer everything back and see if that fixes it. Good Luck

Hello,
I'm hoping you guys can give me some pointers.
Ever since I started to update to Froyo builds, the only thing that doesn't work is the gallery. It ALWAYS locks up the phone tight, I have to pull the battery.
I have tried formatting the SD card (the one that came in the box with the N1, btw on Tmo, unlocked, non rooted), doing a factory reset before each update. Then I simply copy my photos into the phone. I don't copy the .thumbnails folder.
I'm now distressed because FRF85B is out and it's supposed to be the OTA update, and I tried it last night and got the same lockups.
Does this mean I can't use froyo on my n1? it's seems impossible to fathom that my phone would be different.
I'm out of things to try, besides a factory reset and a formatted SD card, I don't know how to troubleshoot this. Eclair works fine with the gallery never had a problem.
I've seen people complain about this on the net but never seen a solution.
Best Regards
I have found some ways to make the Gallery crash, like by getting info on certain files, but no lock-ups!
What about clearing the Application's data from the Settings menu?
(Applications--> Manage Applications--> All--> Gallery--> Clear Data)
Thanks for the tip. I haven't quite done that clear data, I've just been deleting crap off the SD card.
I ordered a 16GB class 10 SD card (can't find the 32gb anywhere heh heh and when I get it I'm going to do a factory reset and then flash to froyo and start over.
It is very possible that my SD card (the stock one out of the box) is too slow or otherwise has problems.
I will post back here just in case other people are seeing similar problems.
cheers

hi there
did you come right with this?
So I got the 16GB class 10 card, and had the same problems.
I had to do a wipe from the bootloader and format the SD card.
Now the phone is stable. I was able to copy my photos and music.
But when I try to put too much on the card, like Brut maps or just copy the app specific folders from the old sd card, I still get lockups.
I'm pretty sure now that it's not really gallery related but SD access, seems 2.1 handled it much better than 2.2
Still waiting for the exchange HTC setup for me.
I have a Droid and I want to use my Sd card in my camera then put it in to my phone to send the pictures. When I put the sd card into my phone after taking pictures it always says i need to reformat because the sd card is damaged. Is there anyway i can use it in both my both and my camera.
Hi,
Following are the solutions:
- First eject the card and reinsert it properly. Then switch off the phone and then turn it on again. I’m sure the problem will be solved.
- If the problem is still there, then check the card on the Camera again and take some new pictures. Some camera pictures didn’t show in phone, due to the resolution. Camera resolution is different than the phone resolution.
The card works fine it just makes me erase everything when i put in back in from the camera
No one can help me with this problem
i had a very similar issue... i turned on my phone one day, and it had at LEAST 1000 photos missing! i got some Photo Recovery Software to address the issue, only to find out that they somehow were corrupted from the phone start?? Either way, there is no known way to deal with this issue, other than formatting the SD card, and partitioning it; and even THEN you still have that stupid issue being a possibility! -__-
what kind of partition would you need to make
I was wondering if anyone here is having problems trasnfering pictures from their computer to the Sensation. Once in awhile a window would pop up saying that their is a corrupt section on the sd card and would I like to scan and fix it but when I take the microSd out and put it on my computer, it says that it's fine. Another is when I am able to transfer picture files and folders and several hours later, it would be gone. It was weird. I double checked it to make sure it transfered and it did but later on the day to show friends, the file would be gone. Anyone else having this issue? Should have I formatted the card first or not?
thanks
not to dredge up too old of a thread but I am starting to see this issue now, with multiple SD Cards. I'm afraid its a hardware issue since the SD Card reader on the sensation looks to be at fault. This is for all file transfers, not just pictures, too.
How did you fix this (if you did)? Like you said, i can read/write fine with the card in my SD Card slot on my computer, but if this is a hardware issue I would like to fix it before my warranty gets closer to expiring..
A few days ago, I tried taking some pictures with my Droid Charge and the pics would not save. I tried in the stock camera app and in CameraZoom EX. CameraZoom gave me an error message "failed to save photo to SD car (error code=2). I figured I was out of space.
My Titanium Backup scheduled backup did not run the next day. So, I assumed I was out of space.
I connected the phone to my PC and deleted some pics and music. WHen I was in WIndows explorer, it said I had about 2 GB free after doing all of this.
When playing music today, I noticed files that I had deleted before still present on the phone. I thought this was weird. I went back and checked and all the stuff I thought I deleted was still there.
I searched on the CameraZoom EX error code 2. It directed to remove and reinsert the card and reboot. I tried that. I have tried unmounting and then mounting with no success either.
My phone seems to be working fine, but I cannot delete or add anything to the microSD card (the original that came with the phone). It does not matter if I use my WIndows 7 laptop, desktop, or various file managers on the phone itself.
ANy idea what is going on?
To me, it sounds like the SD card is going bad. Not a common occurrence but it can happen. You're lucky you can still read from it... I would suggest getting a new SD card (Verizon might even give you a new one free) and copying your data to it before sectors start going bad. By the way, how did you manage to full up 32 gb?
Or I could be blowing this out of proportion and it's just a matter of write protection on the card.

Another option is to copy everything off the SD card, format it, and try to write everything back. Sometimes a format can joggle a bugged card.
It is mostly music that I have on there. I am not sure how write protection would have gotten on the microSD card or how I would remove it. It does not have a physical togge like an SD card does.
I think I may have to try re-formatting. Ugh.

Corrupted SD card. Call VZW and be nice on the phone, explain the situation, hopefully they send you a new one.
Hmmm, this is interesting. I cannot even format the microSD card. I tried to do it through Windows Explorer. It looked like it worked. I then tried to copy files back on and it choked halfway through on a movie, I think.
Anyway, what was more interesting is that when I looked at the drive again, everything was back where it originally was. So, the re-formatting must not have actually worked.
I then tried to erase the SD through the options in Android. I unmounted. I then selected Erase SD card. After rebooting (to just be safe), the SD card still is untouched.
THis microSD card has become an impenetrable force. More realistically, it must have write-protection enabled somehow as that is the only thing I can think of.
The question is how do I find out if write protection is enabled and how to disable it? Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.
Hi folks.
I have a totally stock phone and I have been running a san disk 128gb micro sd.
I pretty much put all my media on the ext sd and therefore have lots of memory on the phone itself. I am using about about 30gb out of the 128bg.
Anyway recently my phone is struggling to load images and gets stuck, videos are stopping sometimes. I removed the sd and did a factory reset to no avail. My next move is to format the sd but I dont want to do that because all my pictures are on it and I have no way of transferring them to my laptop.
Anyone can help?
Sounds pretty likely that the problem is with the MicroSD card
Connect your phone to your PC/Laptop using the USB charging lead, scan for errors on the card, if that doesn't help, copy the files to your machine, format to FAT32 and copy everything back to it
