just asking because I'm needing an new back up phone.
I'd assume Nexus ones.
Galaxy s and Nexus s as far as i know. Correct me if I'm wrong.
S2 as well, but Nexus is the only true dev-open phone.
well not the t-mobile ssgs2
i have the Samsung galaxy 2 and there noo great roms i am using beast mod 4..2 i like beast mod but i am looking for a back up phone that is well dev'ed so i can have a stable more problem free phone i would like to get a droid 2 global or a my side kick 4g
p.s witch phone is better side kick or droid 2 global
if you really like to taste a lot of roms and have the latest builds i think ill choose somethink like nexus s or galaxy nexus, they are google phones, so they will get the latest updates.
Hmmm the best is the HTC HD2. It get everything fast

I don't know that quantity is better then quality. ROMS for thunderbolt seem as solid as the phone itself.
HTC Thunderbolt running MIUI
EVO has a lot of roms and good quality ones

Agreed with nightcrawler, solid roms there as well.

Nexus one, at least in their drawers
HTC HD2 for sure, even if it's a bit old
K I know you guys are all smart ppl can someone. I just got the Skyrocket yesterday but having some regret I think I'm going to go to the nexus on rogers but is it worth it?
Sent from my SGH-I727R using xda premium
The skyrocket has better specs and is lte capable. I think its far better plus ics is right around the corner. I had the skyrocketed from rogers as well sold it last week but its a amazing phone
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Nexus is has old cpu and specs wise Rocket is best. Once we get ics our phone will be best in market.
Definitely keep the skyrocket. I think the nexus may have been a little overrated.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
I think our opinions in this forum are a little biased, but that's because most of us LOVE our Skyrockets.
Definitely keep it. Skyrocket has a better processor and a better camera, if you need a couple of reasons...
The only thing I like more about the Nexus is the 720 screen. But for that, you can probably wait for the S3 or the S2 LTE HD (aka Skyrocket HD).
What parts are making you regret it?
The only thing that I don't like about the Skyrocket is the HDPI screen. It wouldn't normally bother me, but coming from an Evo 3D with QHD, it just seems kind of blurry. Other than that, this phone is absolutely amazing.
Thanks for the responses. Definitely clears up. SKYROCKET definitely has better hardware. But on Monday when the note comes out I'll make my decision....depends on the size of that thing.

Honestly I was drawn back by the design cause I came from infuse 4g which in my opinion has a more premium look. Lol...
Sent from my SGH-I727R using xda premium
I hear you about the screen its my one drawback as well. outside of that, this phone has been great thus far. Sucked to here the HD is going hit canada, but not until q2 which by then, more quad core devices are going to be on their way so its not as big of a deal.
I love my skyrocket. Its been the best phone to date I have had. infuse was ok but felt cheaper to me... have a white note coming next week. and cant wait. cause to me its like a bigger skyrocket.. with a few little extras.. but will keep my skyrocket on my spare line. etc..
Funny thing is.. on the skyrocket the stock rom has been so good havent felt the need to install another etc.. unlike say the inspire or infuse or atrix. or the 10 million other androids I have had in the past. etc..
I find it funny that people on the skyrocket forums are not as anal as people in infuse.
Sent from my SGH-I727R using xda premium
Had the Skyrocket. It was good but since I didn't have LTE here it was pointless to keep. Galaxy Nexus is by far better in performance but since it doesn't have LTE skyrocket is faster IMHO

The note Is a monster its a little big but trust me that phone is amazing you will start to love the fact that it is so big. Just sold my n7000 so i could get the lte version. In the mean time im using the og s2 and this thing feels tiny now

You wont regret it go for it. I still use my Cappy for gaming, music (voodoo sound).
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I kinda wish I didn't sell the cappy... my gs2 isn't very efficient as a music player; the battery drains like no other. But I needed the money to justify buying the gs2.
I decided I'm probably gonna jump ship to a nexus and skip the gs3. That is, unless the gs4 is a better option and comes out in time for my upgrade. Lol I've been entering every single phone giveaway in existence, but no luck there.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
Got my Cappy fired up right now. Listening to Pandora and checking out XDA. Use my Cappy for multi media only....running AOKP Milestone 1 and the standby battery life is fantastic!!
Have a GNote and N7 for regular use, but just couldn't part with the Captivate!!

I just picked my first one, enjoying it so far.
It served me well for long. I kept it even after getting gs3. Sold it recently because the screen turned green

Nexus just seems like the way to go. While there is no shortage of a ROM community for cappy, the nexus is way more impressive.
I'm torn right now between a nexus 10 and a note 10.1

The differences of being a Nexus device more than makes up for any minor advantages other devices have. As far as I'm concerned, the only Android devices worth buying are Nexus devices.

Wait what!? Mikeymike that ends up with a iPhone Didn't expect that.
And while Nexus devices are quite nice, there are plenty of other devices that are quite worth it. Imo, it mostly depends on the user. (Of course, we all have our own opinion)

Sure. But it's just nice to have things like a good out of box experience, fastboot, supported/encouraged unlocking, AOSP ROMs that work flawlessly, alternative OSs to try, etc.

So, Apple is Samsung's largest semiconductor customer, and Samsung is Apple's largest supplier ($ iPhone hardware).
I wonder what % of our, the users' $ are being spent on lawsuits and royalty settlements between the two companies.

Only you can make that decision. If you're referring to the Nexus 4, let's just say that I wouldn't ever trade a Samsung for an LG (Legit Garbage) with no external storage capacity.

If you wanna waste your money get a nexus good way to spend money in less. Depending on the nexus device lte is limited or not there and no external(iPhone space BS) to me not even worth it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
I personally have had nothing less than absolute misery with LG cell phones I steer clear. I'm sure the Nexus is a good product [but no external SD?? C'mon.]
Samsung makes the best Android cell phones in my opinion. Skyrocket
Skyrocket all the way. Every Samsung phone I've owned has been awesome. Can't say the same with the two LG's I once had. You should also consider looking at the development sections for each to see what roms, kernels, tweaks, etc are available. Skyrocket development is awesome. Many many choices.
I usually stick to everything Samsung (my SSD, phones, ram, fridge etc...)
If you're going to decide between Skyrocket and GNEX then here is the run down:
Both phones are dual core, Skyrocket being clocked higher and slightly faster than the GNEX at stock.
Both phones have 1GB or ram
Skyrocket you can put a memory card in, GNEX does not.
Skyrocket has LTE, GNEX (not the verizon version) does not (if that matters).
Skyrocket is 480x800, GNEX is 720x1280 so visually the GNEX will look a tad better based on pixel density and real estate.
So when it comes down to it its more like a side grade.
Skyrocket missing the HD resolution while the GNEX is missing LTE and expansion slot. So pretty much its all on preference and uses. But the biggest thing is probably the community and development. No doubt the GNEX has a large community and when there is an OS update it comes straight from Google on the day of or a little later when its announced. With the Skyrocket you may be lucky to get the update officially but will get it on AOSP and there is dedicated awesome devs here :good:
I personally have both the Skyrocket and the Nexus 4 and with the recent JB leak the Skyrocket is pretty quick and snappy. The Nexus 4 though is on another ball game but it is indeed fast, super snappy and has good development. Only thing I do miss is LTE, another thing is the OS isnt optimized so much on the Nexus 4 yet that battery hasnt been that great for most people. I get an average of 15hr~ and 3-4hr screen time. My Skyrocket has seen some better days but it is on LTE and that one was giving me 30/30mbps here while my N4 is stuck with HSPA 8/1mbps so that could be a factor when choosing speeds and whatever uses. I also miss the AMOLED blacks but the IPS on the N4 is pretty nice, some people who went from S3s to N4 were complaining that it looked washed out but it looks fine to me.
So pretty much between the S2, GNEX and N4 you lose the same things on the GNEX/N4 (LTE, expansion slot) you gain a larger screen resolution and early OTA updates from google. :good:
The nexus 4 is my first nexus phone and won't be the last. And to be honest I don't think I'll buy anything else but nexus phones from here on. All these other android phones are terrible with bloat and ugly ui skins.

Galaxy Nexus rockin' AOKP MR1 Build 3 w/ Franco 364.....
Hello,
I only buy Nexus phone, first the Nexus One (live long and prosper), and now the Galaxy Nexus.
Usually they have the best support, good hardware and good price.
the 3 things I consider the most important.
Nexus 7 and 10 here.. Waiting for my Samsung phone to die so I can get a Nexus phone.
Strongly considered the 4, but the non-removable battery and lack of microSD support killed any chance of me owning one.
I got my s3... but really want a nexus now.. I just wish they had expandable memory. Sure a removable battery would be nice, but the memory is the bigger need of the two.. I think Google does that so you use their cloud services.

I do love the look of the Nexus phones, but no micro-sd means I won't buy one, it just tells the manufacturers they can get away with hampering us, so unless Google ever puts expandable storage on, I'll never buy a Nexus device. Flashing another phone to something aosp based is really easy, so Nexus goodness without the drawback
I use a Tab 2 7.0 as a giant phone thats also a tablet aka phablet
I sure hope by the time this thing breaks, Nexus 7 will have proper phablet support, or, there will be a 5" nexus phone.
Have a Galaxy Nexus and a Nexus 7 : Completely Filled ! <3
I think as you all! Better Android stok that have all those changes that slow down devices
My n4 is my first nexus, but I probably won't be getting the next nexus if the continue to skip important features for me like lte, microsd and a larger battery. I actually haven't been so dissatisfied with a phone before.
