Phone Suggestion - Processing Power and Multi-Tasking Key? - General Questions and Answers

Looking to get an Android soon (early April 2012 Latest).
My only reason for getting it is to run 2 apps at the same time. The Eye-Fi app, which will connect to handheld camera via direct wi-fi mode, and transfer pics in real time to the Android. Each pic - 1.2 - 5 MB.
2nd App - Camerasync or some equivalent, which will resize pics as they arrive in the camera roll, and upload to FTP/Dropbox/Flickr, etc.
Running these both on iPhone 4 triggers one of the apps to close, due to memory/processing issues.
So, my desire is to get a dual-core or quad-core Android, and use it for this.
Would you guys have any suggestions for a device used primarily for this purpose?
Notes:
Battery life not an issue, will be working with multiple charge packs throughout the day.
Would prefer 4g.
Would prefer Verizon, USA.
Would prefer a SD slot so I can swap out 32gig cards.
Want to make sure the dual core is actually functioning, that having a DC chip will enhance this process. I've read repeatedly that dual/quad cores on the phones don't do much because no apps are designed to tap into their functionality.
Any feedback appreciated. Thanks!

Get a Nexus from Verizon. Top notch specs. Should do exactly what you're looking for.
If that doesn't do it for you, list your options.

just for closure....

Nexus tablet

Does anyone think Google will ever produce a nexus flagship tablet? Will it have tight intergration such as the touchpad and pre 3?

They should. Now that they have motorolla's mobile division, i am sure motorola zooms would be the new Nexus tablets.
As far as I am concerned, all tablets right now sport the same hardware, hence hardware should pose no serious problems with updating the software. Some have some lightly modded while only a few have heavily modded software. Point being is that majority of the tablets out right now are simply so easy to update, they could all be classified as Nexus tablets.
"Google Nexus Tablet" sounds look great...
but no is possible

motorola needs to make a better tablet then the joke-of-technology xoom. but, no, i don;t think google will, what will probably happen is what google with a bunch of gingerbread phones, just send the ICS rom OTA to the tablets, or for download for wifi only ones (like the acer transformer)
Think after a while when tablets really take off they will make one.

Htc vivid or sgs2 skyrocket

I'm returning my atrix 2 possibly this Sunday in order to buy one of these two phones.
Which one would you suggest and why please?
I'm leaning towards the vivid as I like sense more than touchwiz but once the roms start rolling in that won't matter much.
Thank you for your input.

I'm thinking for upgrade also. I'm in the same boat. Do you have unlimited data on att? Is there any word on LTE plans? I'm mainly interested if we'll be grandfathered in LTE unlimited.

I don't have unlimited data which sucks. I wish I could tell you that you would be grandfathered in on lte but I don't even think att knows right now since it's barely out. As far as I've read the same rates apply for the 2gb plan and the 200mb plan. That's about all I know so far and I'm sure if you call am att store they won't be able to help you much.
So, which phone are you leaning towards? And why.

In my opinion, you should go for HTC Vivid...
For now I like the Skyrocket better, still not decided yet. I've had HTC before and I loved it...
Specs-wize, except the screen resolution, my vote goes to Sammy mainly for:
- faster CPU (1.5 vs 1.2), and, for what i've read are both snapdragons,
- battery (1850 vs 1600)
- 2.0mp front camera,
- NFC,
- super amoled (if you're a fan), unfortunatelly only 800x480, which, by today's standards is quite low (most high-end phones have qHD (960x540), nevermind the idevice or the nexus galaxy)
- touchwiz (maybe?)
On the other hand, HTC:
- good history of building quality,
- qHD screen
- the camera is stated to have an aperture f2.2 28mm wide-angle lens for low light photos (definitelly have to try it to see), and 60fps recording
- don't think the $50 difference really matters, but its a '+'
- HTC sense
Now: some I also want to see some other 'minor' details, like the HSDPA chipset (I know they both normally have LTE, but if they both have 21.1 or the older 14.4 mbps), don't think ATT will have LTE widespread soon. Also form-factor, weight, size, design, this things I will only see inside att's store
Still not decided yet though

Why not an abbonement phone.. most good phones are over 500..
$250?
I would recommend...maybe a Samsung Vibant? It's smooth and a nice phone.
or even the next step up from that one which would be the samsung galaxy s 4g another nice model with front facing camera so you can have a phone that will potentially get the ics update and you will be able to use the face unlock feature
Hmm...doesn't the Galaxy S2 cost a lot?
Xiaomi is also a better choice
big thx to you all!
i would also be pleased of more posts
Are we talking bought straight, no contract etc?...Since there are some really good deals on the new Motorola Razr (or Droid Razr depending on where you are). And I can't stop lovin that phone! droooool.
here are some issues of nexus s apart from it who think that it is a best android mobile ???
Main disadvantages:
No microSD slot
No 720p video recording
All-plastic body, fingerprint magnet
No DivX and XviD support (no actual video player) out of the box
No dedicated camera key and no lens cover
No FM radio
No smart dialing
Overly expensive for its feature set
@ kolen: this phone seems to be really well! but where to buy it in germany? are there any importeurs? thx for your reference

[Q] Wow.. no pause & resume while recording? Unbelievable :o

I've been using my boring but extremely durable Nokia N73 for the last 5 years or so, but when the 3MP camera on it finally broke after literally hundreds of hits to the floor I decided to finally invest in a new phone.
Video recording has always been a key feature to me.. so I was really shocked when I found out that many high-end phones lack the ability to pause & resume while recording. Which is ridiculous as almost every old phone had it. For example the almighty Galaxy S2 lacks this feature.
Someone happen to know exactly why this is? .. And more importantly, could you guys please tell me which modern phones DO have this ability?
Thank you in advance!
Oh c'mon guys.. any sort of information on this matter would greatly help me decide what phone I should get.
Does YOUR phone has this little (but for me vital) feature and if so, what phone are you using?
If there's a pause function or not depends on the app that does the video recording, not the hardware it runs on. Best check the market if there's any app that supports it.

[Q] What phone should I buy?

Hi you guys,
I have a Samsung Captivate Glide (Bought it the first day it came out woot!)
Unfortunately, It's a very under developed device and I don't use the keyboard as much as I initially figured I would.
So I'm back in the market for a new android device. Preferably one with a strong developer community. ICS roms already running would be a big plus. I use the front camera a lot so thats a requirement.
Something with the best specs possible. I'm on AT&T so it'll need to be compatible with their network.
Thanks,
Kyle

In my opinion, the Galaxy Nexus is the best android smartphone out there. It as hd screen, ICS and it is strongly supported device by the community. And of course vanilla android (my favorite). If you wait until (i guess) Q3 2012 Samsung Galaxy SIII will be released and it will have great specs. And if you like touchwiz on top of ICS (see Galaxy S2 test rom for details) and the "Samsung ecosystem" (Game, Social,Music and Reader hubs)
Now it's up to you!
Prolly best to wait awhile longer until the better phones get released
the only phones worth getting now IMO is the Galaxy Nexus or HTC One S
and personally, ill go for the One S! xD
specs-wise, it's the best phone in the market, again IMO hahaha
