[Q] Google Calendar Sync time off - Samsung Infuse 4G

Question up front is what is the time zone format for central time in the build.prop file? My build.prop says:
#Update TimeZone
persist.sys.timezone=America/New_York
I'm having an issue with my calendar times being off 1 hour when syncing up or down. My Google time is correct and my phone time is correct (set to up date from network). However, if I create an event on my calendar and sync it its off. If I set it for 5pm on my phone and sync up, google says 6pm. If i create on google for 5pm and sync down it says 4pm on my phone.
I'm wondering if I edit the build.prop to central time if it will fix it.

Did you check the time zone on your google account?

try clearing out the cache of calendar ...tibu..clear cache
or settings. application. calendar force stop. clear cache and data.
reboot and sync again.
if that doesn't work stop Google frameworks, clear data and cache and reboot.
let me know

It wasn't all that. But, you kicked my brain into thinking about the app. I don't use the stock calendar and the one I use doesn't have a setting for timezone. SO, I did have to use TiBu to unfreeze the stock calendar go to those settings and set it to force timezone to central. Tested my sync in my calendar, all good. Froze the stock calendar in TiBu again, all still good.
thanks for kicking me in the brain.

skot,
There is a calendar stock app and a calendar sync stored info app.
If you don't use the stock calendar, just delete it with tibu.
As long as the cal sync is still there, you can still use third party cal w/o problem.
I use the "business calendar" on market...it works great

Yea that's what I did, kinda. As soon add I flashed 5.2 I froze it (the calendar app). I don't mess with Cal sync or any of the google services. I'm currently using AA task calendar. I think I tried business calendar. I used to use jorte calendar.
I know what I posted as the fix sounds hokey because the stock calendar shouldn't have anything to do with it, but that force timezone setting in the stock calendar fixed it.

go into contacts and add a "corporate email" account. add your gmail account credentials. finish the account setup and make sure there's a box that asks if you want to sync calendar, make sure its checked. wait about 5 min after the dialogue and you should be set.
at least that's what I did to get my calendar and my contacts sync'd.
good luck.

This only syncs your default Google calendar -- and some of my entries are missing. My other Google calendars have never appeared. (I'm on Google Apps.) Contacts do work this way.

Did you do this on a computer or the tablet itself? I am not finding how to enter corp account on the tablet!

Go to Contacts, then Accounts on the menu, then Add Account, then choose Corporate. Enter your gmail credentials, then on the next page enter /[email protected] and m.google.com as your login info (if it's not already entered for you). It'll take a while for the contacts and calendar stuff to sync.
I set this up without using corporate email, and I have multiple google calenders syncing. I'm not on google apps, just regular google account.

What ROM are you using?
I have never seen an option to set up a Gmail account, using Google Contacts under TNTLite. When you first set up the tablet, and it sets up your default Google account, it sets up mail, but never gives the option for contacts/calendar. (This goes for both a Gmail account and a Google Apps account.) If I look at my accounts via the Gmail app, the Sync Management page shows only Mail as a sync option, with no Calendar/Contacts options.
On my Nexus One, when you go to add an account under Contacts, "Google" is an option along with Corporate (and Twitter and Facebook, if you have those installed). But, on the tablet, under TNTLite, there is no option to add a Google account, only Corporate and the others.
I've mentioned this a bunch of times, hoping that someone with more knowledge would take some time to figure out why--is it because TNTLite installs Gmail 2.3 as the default, and not 2.2? What is it about the account setup that only creates a link between a Gmail account and Mail, leaving Contacts and Calendar out in the cold? And how come when adding a new account you have no option to add a new Gmail account, like on vanilla Froyo?

There are apks, that need to be installed to sync calenders and contacts for non coporate I believe, as it was not in my syncing options until I installed these. They are GoogleCalenderSyncAdaptoer.apk, GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk

I am using CM6.1B4 for the ROM, I had the same issue under this rom where I could not add another google account or calenders/contacts. I followed this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842590) and I was able to get it to work where I have multiple gmails accounts, and can sync contact and multiple calenders. At first when following that thread it killed my rom, so I had to clear cache/data, reinstall rom, and then all was fine. I removed the an Email.apk(?) and that got rid of the corporate email account since I don't use one. I beleive you can just install the apk's from that thread to get things to work, the *SyncAdaptoer.apk's. I have gmail 2.3 so I don't think that is the issue. Not sure what apk controls being able to add multiple gmail accounts since I think that always worked for me, although I remember messing with things and not having that ability anymore. Hope this helps.

I've tried multiple times to just install the SyncAdapter.apk files, and always get Application Not Installed. Maybe there's a certain procedure to follow? (install them after wiping data, and before doing the Google Account set up?)
I tinkered with getting calendar to sync with my Google calendar last night. I was successful in getting "Touch Calendar" from the market to sync, but not the Calendar that is included with TNT Lite 2.0.2.
Process: I went to the Contacts App and added a second email account (same as the first). By default, it labeled it as a "Corporate Account". The original one was labeled as "local only" or some such. In the wizard that takes you through creating the account, there are checkboxes for Sync Email and Sync Calendar. They are at the bottom of the page, so make sure you scroll down every page in the wizard or you might miss them. I don't believe Calendar is checked by default.
I don't particularly like the "Touch Calendar" app, but it is functional. If anyone else has a Calendar App that is working - please let me know about it. I don't know what Roebeet has included with TNT Lite 2.0.2., but that one is not working for me. It looks like the TapNTap calendar to me.
Talk2Rider--
The calendar in TNTLite 2.02 is the default TNT Calendar, not the Google Calendar (Roebeet went back to the default TNT Calendar in his TNTLite Supplements). You're seeing your Google calendar stuff in Touch Calendar because that's keying off the Corporate account that you set up, while TNT Calendar doesn't use that.
The Corporate account set up doesn't help those of us who are trying to get multiple calendars to sync in the Google Calendar app. The need exists to be able to add another Google account (like you can in vanilla Froyo), not doing a workaround of a Google account as a Corporate account.

These are system apk's so just drop them into the /system/app folder and reboot. But I didn't do that, I installed the whole package from that link I posted, and had problems at first where it hosed everything for me, but after clear data/cache, reinstall rom on top (doesn't wipe out these apks) everything was working.

Tried it (putting just the *SyncAdapter.apk files in /system/app, and rebooting), then deleted my existing Google Apps account, rebooted, but I still don't get the option to sync calendar/contacts as a Google account, and no ability in Contacts to add a Google Account.
I'm guessing if I install the entire TNT Keyboard/Gapps update.zip, then wipe data and then reinstall TNTLite 2.0, it might work. Just trying to decide whether I want to go through all of that.

Ya, I'm not familiar enough of the system apks to know if there was something else that needed to be done to get this to work. I know TnT light doesn't have the Gapp versions of the contact and calender....does it have the gmail.apk already? Best might be to install it all instead of trying to figure out what is going on. You can always use CWM to backup the system and if it doesn't work restore it back.
I don't want to be changing my system and want it stable, but I suspect I will be doing a lot of installing diff roms and wiping for a while till the roms get more stable and feature rich.

TNTLite 2.0 has the Gmail, Google Contacts, and Google Calendar apks. It's only the 2.02 supplemental that replaces contacts and calendar apps with the original TNT installed apps.
I made a half-hearted stab at installing the GApps stuff, then "reinstalling" TNTLite 2.0, but didn't wipe my user data. No change on the calendar/contacts stuff, and this resulted in messed up versions of Maps, Street View, and YouTube, which I was able to salvage through Titanium Backup uninstalls and then reinstalling from the Market. But I imagine getting the Gapps stuff truly working may require a full wipe, probably back to Vanilla TNT, and then installing Gapps first followed by TNTLite. I'm just not in the mood quite yet to go that far.
So, if anyone out there can figure out a way to get full Google account sync access working in TNTLite without having to start over, you'll get a gold star!

[Q] Facebook contact sync issue

I'm running a stock, non-rooted GS3. My contact icons are weeks out of sync with profile pictures and I can't get new contacts that are saved to display the picture. I went to Settings > Accounts and Sync > Facebook, and forced a sync a few times in the past 24 hours but it won't update anyone. How can I correct/update this? Thank you!
Go into your contacts on the phone and open the contacts you want to sync with your Facebook and make sure that they are linked via Facebook... If it is google only seems that for some reason it doesn't always update the photo....

Both Google and Facebook are set. Those settings are correct, I just can't figure out why the profile/contact pictures are weeks out of sync with some new contacts not even syncing at all.

Thats the glory of the Facebook app for Android.... It functions when it wants too..... Hopefully they are actually working on it.... There are other apps on the market for FB that allow better syncing with FB
Not a true "fix", but corrected it by clearing the cache from the app + all data from Settings > Applications, deleted it from Play then re-installed it. Again, not a fix, but resolves the issue in about 5 minutes.

Problems with calendar.

Ok so I uninstalled Google calendar app, (it was just installed from Play-store) and I got a com.google.calendar issue I didn't read it in time.
Now my all of my events are not syncing with my calendar on my phone. I tried re-installing latest google apps, no avail. I reinstalled google calendar from playstore no cigar. If I post a new event on google calander it will show up but none of the previous events I posted. I'm talking 100 or so events, appointments, tasks etc.
It is syncing fine on my tablet so not a google issue, account is set to sync calender, google calendar is selected to show in the app.
I'm lost any help would be appreciated.
Edit: Seems as though when I edit an event it then shows up on my phone. Weird.
did you try clearing your app data/cache?
Go into settings>apps>all and find Google Services Framework. Clear data and reboot. Your calendar should clear itself up in a few minutes.

Calendar App Not Saving Settings

I'm having an issue where the Calendar app doesn't save the settings after a reboot.
The settings I want saved are: Hide declined events, Week starts on Monday, Pop-up notification and Default reminder time 30 minutes.
This doesn't seem to stick with the Google Calendar App (which is needed over the stock Motorola Calendar app because the stock can't invite Exchange users to an event).
I've tried with the Stock Calendar Disabled and Enabled with the same results of settings not saved after reboot.
This is just an educated guess, but do you have your Calendar set up to sync? It could be your phone/local settings are being overwritten whenever a sync is done, and a sync is being done whenever you reboot.

Sync is set for everything except Currents, Google Play Books, Movies and Magazines. Unfortunately that isn't the culprit.
So according to this forum (http://forums.androidcentral.com/mo...-not-staying-personalized-when-rebooting.html), this is a known bug confirmed by the Moto guys. Not sure if it is a problem with the phone or Google Calendar app compatibility. I guess let's wait and see what happens when Google updates Google Calendar or we may just have to wait for Android 4.3 or 4.4 depending on whether they skip 4.3 or not.

Remove Syncml-orphaned calendar

I just had to re-enter a bunch of appointments on my google calender because they ended up previously on this other calendar (which seems to be phone only, so perhaps it's an Xperia thing, or maybe it's a hangover from some other system I've used in the past, although I doubt it because i've not logged into any other calendar systems on my Z3).
I can disable it from within the google calender app, so hopefully it would cause any more trouble, but I'd like to get rid of it. I've disabled the original (sony?) calender app but it's not removed this option.
Does anyone else have this? You can see it by running the Google calendar app and dragging the left edge of the screen right. You can remove it from here in settings, but it's still available in settings. I want it gone!

I have the same problem. Tried deleting and reopening to no avail. Contemplating deleting my google account altogether and starting from scratch.
Calendar has recently been chewing a lot of battery on my Z3C, and I've noticed that I also now have a syncml-orphaned calendar appearing. Anyone else found this in recent times?
Has this been solved? One year later I still have the same problem, even on newer Sony Xperia phones
Well, I think I have found a way: Using TitaniumBackup I have performed WIPE DATA on Calendar Storage and Calendar. This has fixed the syncml-orphaned problem for me.
Of course, for this to work you have to have Root.
