Try spending some time reading the forums and getting to know your way around. It's mostly smartphone based queries, obviously, but there's often software development questions in the general forums, and people are always grateful for good advice.
Just get to know the place and see what you can get and what you can give back.
Welcome to xda

Ok guys, this is just a proposal/idea. I have an idea to make a website, that people can easily find their phone, and then it will display all the ROM's available for their device. As well as show them the ROM's it should also be able to display images that would help people that aren't technically experienced to install and enjoy the ROM's that we do everyday, with ease. The only problem ( and of course people are wondering, why tell us just DO IT) is i have limited X-HTML experience and Javascript experience. I would need the help of all the great developers here to promote their ROM (giving helpful information), and someone(s) to help develop the website. Basically i want to be able to easily find a ROM instead of searching through pages and pages trying to see if and problems persist, and easily state what their ROM is all about. This could really be a break-through website, that can take the awesome geeky-ness of XDA and transfer all the knowledge to help everyone. I really do love XDA, but sometimes it is hard to keep up with all the new terms and lingo. It would also help to de-clutter XDA, leaving developers noob question free. I know i probably sound crazy i know. but if anyone is interested in helping please PM me, it would be greatly appreciated. and it would be the start of something new for ROM's, mainstreaming if you will.
Cheers
...And if this is posted in the wrong place i do apologize in advanced.

Hi im new in this forum, and have been reading alot in the last couple of days and am really impressed how strong the community is here!
In my job i had to programm microprossesors alot (in C and Assembler) and i really liked it and now i wanted to start with programming for android. But i have no ideea where to start because the knowledge here is really high... That is the reason why i have some questions
Wich thread's should i read first? (are the programms needed in that thread?)
Is there a thread where shortcuts are explained?
Or in general with what should i start?
I'm using a HTC desire HD if that makes a diffrenz.
thx for the help and sry for my english havent used it in a while
Your English is better than mine and i'm a native
The only advice i can give right now is to get your post count up so that you're able to post in the Dev sections of the forum!
Welcome aboard.
Hello and welcome to the forums
I myself am also starting to learn programming for Android and here are some good websites to get started.
http://developer.android.com/index.html
http://androidforums.com/application-development/
http://www.anddev.org/
http://www.codinggreenrobots.com/
I would also like to know if there are some books people recommend when getting started for a more structural learning and explaining things in the process.
First thanks for the quick replays.

This is a project I am starting for a graduate level stat project and a resume booster. The premise is, Facebook can produce a great deal more views and ad potential than any developers site. Don't get me wrong I love XDA but do you think the average person with an average question has any idea where to go. Android University is a common wall Facebook site that will allow for simple questions and answers along with buying advice and non-biased opinions about all Android devices. I would say I am a high level user but I still do not know how to program. However, I am very good at dumbing things down for everybody to understand. Please like my page and ask any questions you may have. I currently own an Inspire 4G and an EVO4G and I have used almost all roms. I am an avid flash junkie and tester. Please help me get this running. You don't have to be my friend to like the page and please be sure to tell friends about the page. Hopefully it will prevent a great deal of simple questions from entering this site. Thank you for your time.
Please come ask questions.

leave the guy alone. He doesnt have to code to be a "high-end user." He said "user" not "rom chef"
Let him do his thing. He's trying to trying to better himself, help newbies, and the XDA and Android community.

Thanks man, ya i've been using android phones for a while now and this is really a facebook site to help frustrated people answer small questions or big questions and offer advice on future products. In all, I hope it can grow and lead to stupid small questions away from this site to allow for greater development without interruption. Thank for any support and kick rocks if you are a hater....

That's because Mr. Noob here doesn't know how to paste a link.
Just go to facebook and search "Android University" if the link doesn't work

Of course, I would be glad to.
You can start by reading the rules of XDA and by watching the Noob video.
Then you can go to your device's forum and do a lot of reading and learning.
Then you can start to help other new users with the problems they are having because you now know so much.
Then you make a mistake and realise you don't know everything, so you start reading all over again, but this time you actually understand it.
Then you can go back to helping all the other users with their problems.
By doing this you will become a valued member of XDA and you will see that it is a community of great people, not just a place for you to demand answers or find ways round the well-established restrictions
Hopefully that has answered your question
Nice Simon!

Hi, I'm completely new to the forum and a complete novice coder (even novice is an overstatement).
I'd like to develop an app that involves photo stitching, panoramic functions and some other cool features that can be discussed after securing an NDA.
I'm currently working on a wire frame and graphic design for buttons, icons, GUI, etc, but need someone who is good at programming these types of apps, initially for Android, later porting to iOS.
Any and all recommendations for specific individuals, dev teams or companies would be greatly appreciated. I'm an individual entrepreneur with a little capital, but far from "deep pockets", so unfortunately, cost is a big factor. Looking for best bang/buck. Thanks fellas!
Nobody care to help out a noob? It'd be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hello,
You just posted your question yesterday...the Assist RC's get to them as quickly as possible.
Please remember everyone using XDA has a real life (job, family, different time zones, ect)
Please be patient and you will get an answer as soon as possible.
Thanks,

Cool, thanks man. I guess I'm used to forums that are far more crowded and if you don't get an answer in a day, your post gets completely buried and likely will never get a reply. Thanks for the heads up and sorry the betting impatient.

Hey Raj, thanks, but I'm not looking to code an app myself, I'm looking for a dev that I can pay to create one. I tried to learn C++.....i didn't get much past "Hello world!" til I realized I just plain suck at coding! Lol
Sorry about that but i can't help you in this job.
You can try to ask in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257421

Thanks, but I'm getting the feeling that this forum is more for devs to discuss coding itself, and not so much find jobs coding. I think I'll try my luck on Craigslist. Thanks for the help though.
