I'm looking for a way to Dual Boot. For example be able to load CM7 or a Cooked Stock. I'm aware of Dual Booting WM but it's not what I'm looking for. ANy help or tips would be much appreciated.
you just need to create a nand backup of each ROM you like to use. then when you want to bounce between ROMs, you just restore that particular backup. takes about 2 minutes, but its the closest out there to dual booting.
for example right now i have cyanogen 6.1 and gingerbread and i boot up each one depending on what i want to use that day.
That's what I currently do.

Are there some specific partitions that you restore or do you restore all partitions
Im booting in between 3 roms now. Mainly use Leedroid though

Restoring a nan backup is nothing like dual booting . As for real dual booting; there is not a predefined program or app that allows you to do this (yet). That's not to say it cannot be done. The reason a automatic tool has not been created is most likely because it would need to be written on a case to case bases. For example when you dual boot you are given the option to switch between 2 roms. If you decided you wanted to change one of those rom's then the code would have to be rewritten. Mainly because of the changes that are needed to be made to the actual rom. It takes a while to get everything changed and set up so you don't want to use a rom that updates frequently. But if you have a couple stable rom's and still want to do it you can pm me if you need any help with it.
Either way I hope that helps

This is the thread you need to follow for this. I have been beta testing this as he releases certain things. Took me a bit, but I got it running properly on my G1. Still working out some quirks on the Inspire.
what about the app BootManager? I just now got it, and am kinda afraid to try it out, I dont want to brick my phone.
With BootManager just select the Rom that will be for your daily use. Then backup in case anything happens, and just follow the instructions From the app. Worst case scenario, you restore your backup.

Would it be easier than making a backup of each ROM I use in Rom Manager, and just restoring from each backup to change ROMs?
It can hold up to 4 roms on your sd, think of it as if running windows on your phone and presing clrcad then haret to boot android. it even has a widget so you can press a number and it boots to your selected rom
info need
hello guys, i need some info.
1-i did couple of backup through recovery mode such like stock rom, miui, and litening rom. if i use BootManager app.. could this app recognize my previous backup made by CWM? or i need to install those roms all over again through BootManager as this app is stand alone app??
2-any feedback about using multiple rom ( changing rom like 3 or 4 time in a week )..is this safe and good to device?
3-and the last thing about using this method, if i switch to other rom, will i get the whole apps back as it is before? or i just get the clean rom without any apps then need to use titanium backup to restore the whole apps??
any feedback and advises will be highly appreciate. thanks.
Hi i have a rooted lg g2x it was already rooted when i got it, and im wondering if theres a way for going back to the 2.2 stock version that came on this phone, the guy that sold me the phone first did the OTA 2.3 update then root the phone. Is there any way i can go back to stock 2.2??? i have like three nandroid backups but i cant make them work or maybe i dont know how to, i can flash costum roms, but as backup nandroids none of them are working for me.
Nevermind finally got it!!!
First of all I have to ask, why would you want to go back to stock? 2.2 is not optimized for dual core processors. 2.3 is the first Android version that takes into account dual core processors and can properly execute threaded processing. GB is far superior to FroYo in many ways. If you are deadset on going back you need CWM recovery (see threads about flashing CWM with NVFlash). Then you go to the Android Development section of the G2X forums and downloaded the 2.2 stock Nandroid and use CWM to do a Nandroid restore. You then use NVFlash to flash back to the stock recovery. Presto, your phone is 2.2 stock again.

Well on my defense i have to say that my phone is working a lot better with froyo now, i know what your saying about 2.3 i get it, but as for me, im happy by the way my phone is working now with froyo, faster, battery last longer, stable data, and a whole bunch of things that 2.3 did not do. I love gingerbread but i got bored of it too, and the builds i have to say only one that i really like is Miui but has some problems with it too. So as for now im good with Froyo. Like i said Gingerbread is good but got bored of it.
So i just followed the guide. I am happy to say that i just successfully rooted my phone. Took me a few tries but finally was able to do it.
So now what? I am down to GB 2.2 and now have to figure out how to get to GB 2.3.
In terms of ROMS what can i use to make sure not to brick my phone and do i just install them on my sdcard and use clockworkrecovery to load them or do i have to install them to romzip and use Ace Hack It.
Thanks guys for your support in development. I am looking forward to using a rooted Andriod.
This thread would probably be better off in Q&A, but at any rate. Yes you just put the zip for the rom on your sd card and flash it with CWM, no need to use the hack kit. Any ROM in the dev section should work well for you without bricking your phone. It's just a matter of what you want from your ROM.
Welcome, new rooted user
There are a few GB ROMs out there and here are a few located in the Dev section...
Leedroid
Coredroid
Android Revolution
All are quick and stable it is just personal preference on what you want. Simply download the ROM to your computer and place it on the root of your SD card, and then boot into clockwork and wipe your device clean...
1. Factory Reset
2 Advanced-Wipe dalvik cache
3. Install from sd card and choose your ROM
Very simple if you have any other question feel free to ask.

I've tried a bunch of different roms, and the one I like the most as of now is CoreDroid V8.1
Back when i first rooted my phone I tried ARHD, Leedroid, and a few others and stuck with ARHD until I ran upon CM7. Started with the nightlies because they were the only ones that could run Netflix at the time and have been stuck on CM7 since.
Try a few and figure out the style you want (stock looking or AOSP) because themes can be done for all of them.
I'm on cm7, and love it.. I can now tether, and be a hot spot without changing my plan...

Add Ninja to a list of ROMS to try as well, very stable, fast and good on the battery.
If you wan to jump from 2.2 to 3.5, I'd recommend RCMix3D Runny.
Hey guys,
I am considering making this ROM my FIRST custom ROM flash. I was hoping to get some feedback first...
TO start, here is my current setup:
1-STOCK TMOUS ROM 2.3.4
2-S-OFF, ROOTED
3-Sense frozen via TB
4-ADW EX
Are there any known issues with this ROM that I should be aware of? FOr example, will I have bad data connections (wifi, 4G, ect.)
What I like is its dual core support. I really wanted to try Faux's custom 0.6 kernel for dual core support, but figured out that I needed to use Mike's version for 2.3.4 and they run on his ROMs, hence Android Revolution HD™ 3.0.3
Thanks,
Matt

Hello,
Thanks for the reply! Have you tried the overclocking yet? How is it? How is the battery life? I would plan to run this with ADW EX, Sense frozen...
Also about flashing...Here is how I understand it:
DL ROM to the SD card root.
Go to recovery and wipe cache+dalvich (sp?) files.
Install file from SD card, then let it do its thing?
After that, to install the faux kernel, I just repeat the above steps?

Ive overclocked it but i just stay stock because this rom flys without it, i also have Dual Core enabled, I have a aftermarket battery and i use my phone alot i can get about 2 days out of the rom if i needed to i charge every night though.
I would run the SuperWipe its a flashable zip like the rom from the thread then install the rom, you can install the kernel right away too if you want. Then boot it up and set your apps up and such

Alright, sounds very good. I get about 20 hours out of my chichitec battery with moderate use.
So, to run SuperWipe, I would just treat it like a ROM in a way? (DL to SD card root, then "install" in recovery) I guess I can immediately flash the ROM right after that and then follow up with the kernel? Do I need to wipe anything inbetween the ROM and the Kernel?
Im guessing that I can easily reflash my backup in case something goes wrong?

Hello everyone,
Ive seem to run into some trouble, that I cant find a solution too.
I rooted my phone with Gingerbreak V1.20, and flash my recovery with CWM.
I proceeded to add the Nightly Four E rom, than the trouble began.
My colors on the phone display are diffused and distorted, mainly showing the color green and blue.
I read thatI need to flash the stock 2.2 rom again and it would fix it but it didnt.
Can someone help me with this, its quite annoying.

It's a kernel issue. From what you've stated, stock 2.2, your device never got it's official 2.3 update. So, you have an old baseband P505. You should be able to flash ROMs made specificially for the P505 as well as P500 ROMs. Since your device is old baseband, you also have the option to flash P509 ROMs. P509 never got an official GB update so it's always an old baseband device, same with the P506. The catch with P500 ROMs and most P505 ROMs is they are build for new baseband so an additional patch, old baseband, will need to be applied after flashing the ROM. P506 devices use a different touchscreen than the others so you'll have issues installing one of those ROMs.
The old baseband patch is to get your radio, cell signal, working with new baseband ROMs. I hope this wasn't information overload If you used ROM Manager, it's possible that is screwed up the radio too. ROM Manager is not friendly to the Optimus One device family. Android Flash Recovery, link in my signature, is designed for flashing recoveries via fastboot and fastboot mode. You may, especially if color banding is an issue with your recovery, want to reflash your recovery too.
Oh, and have you seen the LG Optimus One FAQ?
I appreciate the reply you've giving, but this is my first time using the Optimus One.
You stated its a kernel issue, how would I go upon fixing a kernel issue?
You also stated I should reflash the recovery, is there a specific recovery I should be using?

For the kernel issue, you can search the forums here to find some that are compatible with your device. The kernel you need will depend on the version of Android you are wanting to install since there isn't a universal kernel for all Android versions. Most of the newer kernels are for ICS( Android 4.0 ) and JB( Android 4.1, 4.2 ). I've never used it but they say Franco has a kernel for GB ( Android 2.3 ). SweetnSour has a kernel for JB and the AndroidArmv6 Team has a new 3.0 kernel for JB.
If you like GB, then you may want to look at this CM7.2 ROM( Direct download ). It is for a P500, so you will need the old baseband patch from post #9 in the LG Optimus One FAQ. I''m using that ROM on my P509 ATM.
As for the recovery, I only suggest reflashing it if you are experiencing color issues with it too. I use CWM 5.0.2.7 Touch, but it will only allow P500 ROMs to be flashed. It's no big deal for me, but for someone new to the game it can be troublesome. CWM 5.0.2.0 is also a good recovery. I don't recommend using ROM Manager to flash anything. If you should decide to reflash your recovery, I would recommend using Android Flash Recovery for Windows( in my signature ) or FlashImage GUI which can be found in the Play Store.
It seems no matter what I do, the color will not correct.
I've tried switching roms, flashing a new kernel and recovery nothing seems to be working..

Do you still have a backup of your stock ROM? I mean a backup that was made while in recovery mode. If you do you can try booting in to recovery and then try wiping and formatting everything but your sdcard. Then restore the backup you made and reboot the device. Other than that, I hate to say it, but I'm at a loss.
I just flashed the CM 7.2 ROM, and franco.Kernel | 2.6.35.10.
I just about did everything, but the color remains distorted once the actual ROM boots up.
Note* If the phone is off and I power it on, the first LG logo has perfect color and clarity but once the ROM kicks in the colors wacks out.
Edit - The phone no longer allows me to access CWM it's just a black screen.

The kernel is part of the boot image. It's possible that somehow your partitions have been damaged.

Yes and no. If you can find or get a hold of the partition.mbn for your device you can use LGMDP to repair the partitions. The P500 one might work too, I'm not sure tho.
EDIT:
You can also install a recovery and ROM in the same process with LGMDP

you only had to flash this on your p505 after the rom https://code.google.com/p/sweetnsour-kernel/downloads/list; one of these
kernel-20130224_1312.zip version4-CFS-P505-P506 for battery life
kernel-20130224_1306.zip version4-BFS-P505-P506 for performance
You have saved my phone my good sir, and I thank you greatly!
Now that I have the correct kernel, can I install different roms now?
Yes, but only ics and jellybean roms , if you use the kernel on gingerbread you will get a lot of troubles...
I just flashed the unofficial CM 10.1, and booted the phone and the color was diffused again.
So I flashed the kernel again and booted the phone, and everything is working perfectly.
Thank you so much!
P.S - CM 10.1 doesn't come with Google Apps or Rom manager, how do I get that back?
To get the google apps you will need to flash a gapps.zip, but first you need to trim the cm 10.1 rom, because
The recommended gapps package is not quite small enough to fit along with the rom in our limited /system partition. The size of the rom can be trimmed by deleting or converting some system apps to user apps, deleting unwanted ringtones and fonts.

If this the first time you are installing roms, i will recommmend you to stay in ice cream sandwich, because is more stable, and it has a lot better battery life than jellybean...
