[Q] Is my phone up to date - General Questions and Answers

How to I update my phone or is it up to date. Do I have to do the flash thing I hear about. I know nothing about flashing if so.
my current info is:
model:droid pro
android:2.3.3
build:4.5.1-110-vns-22
eri:5
kernal:2.6.32.9

Seems like you are running 2.3 (Gingerbread) which is a fairly recent release of Android. I would say you are kind of up to date.
Regarding the flashing. Google is your friend! I guess there are gazillions of posts on that topic on this forum. Do a search!

2.3.3 is probably the latest update motorola has for that device on your carrier.
check the device's forum to see what the latest factory version is.

[Q] Factory Reset Data?

I bought my g tablet in late November and as a newbie I managed to get it to the point that it ran flash, played angry birds and had the Google market from the great help I found on these threads. I ran out of free time to tweak it and muddle through the technical speak in the threads so now I am unsure if I can update the TnT version or if I should factory reset and follow one of the great newbie threads on this site to update since I can't remember exactly what I did to get where I am with it. Please be gentle- I know I'm a spaz and should have paid more attention to the steps I took originally.

Ok u r running the latest stock version. A new version 3991 is in testing now and may be out soon. A major change with many of the changes in roebeets enhancement pack. I would just wait a few days.
Ok- Thanks so much for your help!
brandyc,
I agree. If your time and memory are limited -- and your G-Tablet is working well -- leave well enough alone.
All the current ROMs have their unique features, but in the end there is getting to be less and less difference in the alternate ROMs and stock. It's fun to play, but not necessary!
I have two tablets -- one on TNT Lite 5.0.1 and one stock 3991. Both work great!

Latest HTC Schubert (HD7) release?

Hi,
First of all I a new to this forum so I can't post in the development section. I have also tried to find an answer to this question and been unable to do so, so I apologise if I have missed it.
I own a HD7 with NoDo and have never flashed it previously. I would like to use the latest release but I wondering if the RUU will backup my device or will I need to do that myself?
Also if I do update my phone with this release, will I need to revert back to NoDo when the update officially comes or with this being a HTC release, can I keep this update?
Thank you
Chris
Im.sorry if this is the wrong forum for a new member. If it is could someone move it to the correct one please.
Hey there, head over to the WP7 D&H forum and do lots of reading, all the info you need to get to Mango is there

[Q] HOW TO REVERT TO GINGERBREAD FROM official ICS on AMAZE

Hi, i am a complete noob in this... so could someone please provide a step by step guide to revert back to gingerbread from ICS...i got the official update and i think my AMAZE doesnt have the hardware to handle it...its very slow now and i'd like to revert back to the gingerbread...so please..i have no clue whatsoever...i found some threads with regards to this but they were for someone with a little knowledge of these things and i was lost..help please
Can't offer specific downgrade help. Search of the forum or with Google should turn up something.
However, downgrading is not the answer. The Amaze hardware is certainly quite capable of running ICS very well. If not an official OTA would not have been released. And I've been running ICS on my Amaze since well before the OTA update with no problems at all. Runs very nice.
So...you need to identify the real problem. Could be a bad app or upgrade gone wrong - a number of things. Good place to start would be to see if something is hogging CPU cycles.

Ics has a brick issue and it will require plenty of reading on the subject. You essentially would use pc odin to reflash the old software.

Google it. I assume it's the 4.0.4 update that was released in EU today. This is definitely not something that warranted a thread, let alone a thread in the development section. Please try searching for answers before posting in a dev section. Thanks.
Mods, please close.
I agree but here it is incase you haven't found it yet

[Resolved] Paranoid Android repository?

Greetings all. I have just recently became more involved with my android phone since upgrading to the Verizon S3. After flashing multiple ROM's, I have found the one I have most enjoyed. The problem is, the specific version that is available to me has killed the phone functionality for the time being. While I wait for the developer to do his thing, my question to you all is:
Is there a place where the older versions are stored? I'm looking specifically for the 1.9.7 or 1.9.8 versions of this ROM. If not, would someone be willing to upload their copy for me? I was trying to ask on the actual thread, but due to my new status as a member, I can't post in the development section.
Edit: Someone compiled a newer version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1858298
