Depends what you like, if you like pure AOSP, go for galaxy nexus. If you like sense, wait for the endeavour or Ville to be released

I hate sense, love stock ICS, but are there not any quad core phones due to be released soon?

Well, HTC got the Endeavor but we don't know yet when it's going to be released. But why would you wait for Tegra 3? The dual cores we have now are fast enough to run every game in the Market smoothly. Just don't go for a Blackberry. Those things are waaaay slower than any modern Android smartphone and there's less things you can do with them.

i wouldn't go for a blackberry lol i said it for a joke,
yeah true current dual core are good enough, but i dont want to get one then a quad core comes out

If you think like this, you'll never get a new device since you'd constantly want the best of the best .

Sure, they can't do as much, but saying they're slower is biased. The 9900, the one he mentioned, is as fast as any high end android and faster than many others. Blackberries are for people looking for a specific set of features, let's not be mindless bigots.

i'd wait. nexus' are still expensive, and with the new phones coming out soon, it will drop in price significantly. it'll always be a catch-up game, like with anything else that is mass produced. there will always be better things in a few months. ultimately, it's up to you what you spend your money on.

To be fair, Blackberry is for business folks that are lost in a world of technology.

There will be a number of quadcore phones (by HTC, LG, Samsung, probably some others - of course all with custom overlays instead of pure ICS), announced at MWC in two weeks. And it will take some more time (in some cases even months I suppose) until you can buy them.
The next Nexus with a quadcore chip is almost a year away. So you must decide if you want a Galaxy Nexus (pure Android, fast updates, nice screen, NFC - but a mediocre camera and no SD card slot) or wait for phones like the Galaxy S3 with better hardware and an overlay.
But in terms of Sense, TouchWiz etc: If there is a phone with lovely hardware but an annoying skin, there's always the option to install CM9 e.g.

Wait for the HTC Endeavor (or Ville) !

id say go for the nexus, if some say dual core is an overkill, quad core is an over over overkill, concerned bout the battery

I might be wrong but shouldn't battery life actually be better with the Tegra 3? This is because of that 5th core that's used for less demanding tasks and the others 'come alive' when needed.

Sensation xl..

Just read that the Galaxy Nexus 32GB version may well not arrive. 16GB of memory fills up pretty quick with a few Gameloft games, some music, a couple of ROM's, some backups and data from other apps so do consider this when buying it.
If I were you I'd wait for some of the new devices.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus or HTC Sensation

Hey guys, every one knows about the Nexus now. It looks AMAZING. But it's still plastic. What do you think about it? Should I stick with my Sensation or get the Nexus in exchange by November? Both are 1.2Ghz dual core monsters, the Nexus has the A9 processor and 1GB RAM. The best part is the Super Amoled 720p display - 4.65" - Just amazing. What do you say?
Oh and the worst part is the camera. 5 megapixel? What the..? But anyway, the sensor matters more.
What do you say guys?

If it was an easy swap, id do it. Im not going to swap though as it would be costly and I dont see the nexus being light years ahead of the sensation either.
The sensation will wind up doing the same stuff as the nexus once it also gets ICS.
If I were out looking for a new phone, Id choose the nexus...
Matt
Hmm. How much would the Nexus cost? UNLOCKED.

No idea, but id plan on at least $599.99. Thats far more than youll get for your Sensation.
I dont see anything groundbreaking that the nexus does over the sensation, ICS aside. No reason to jump ship for this phone. Ill stick with my Sensation and wait for next upgrade's phones, which should be groundbreaking by then.
Matt
Damn! Okay, it's a hard decision to make
If I didn't own a Sensation already, I would get the Nexus, Pure Google! I don't regret getting the sensation though.

Loving the nexus, and so very much want the dev support of the nexus, love that everything first thing and how quick it moves because all the devs on it.
But i'm torn, sensation is awesome but slower on devs. I have a hard decision to make very soon. My point being, I can't decide myself, so I can't help you decide lol

I'm sticking with my sensation!
The single most pushing reason to make the jump would be the 4.65" 720p AMOLED display (zomg!!! ). U just can't beat that.
The rest... meh. I guess with ICS and proper dualcore support, the Sensation will finally take off speed wise. Or at least I hope it.
If I was you, I'd swap it for the new Galaxy Nexus. You will always have the newest Android distirbutions at your disposal

Yea...So it boils down to SELLING your Sensation and paying another $300 or so to get a screen with better resolution...For what though?
Just months ago qHD was all the rage. I still dont see whats so special about it???
I doubt a 720p screen will be worth the trouble and extra $$$. Now, if you need to upgrade and can get a deal on the Prime, then hell yea.

Hmmm.. I agree
I will be switching to the Galaxy Nexus as soon as possible. Not because I think it is far superior to the Sensation but for the simple fact that I am on my 3rd Sensation now that is ridden with dust under the screen. It is such a stupid problem to have with such an expensive phone.
The fact that so many of us have the issue and HTC refuses to admit that it's a known problem has really made me ready to jump ship from HTC without any plan on coming back.

I just like the look of the galaxy nexus, sure the 720p resolution screen is going to be nice but I want the galaxy nexus for the additional hardware like nfc and barometer sensor (because I'm a tech junkie like that). I'm alright with having a dual core processor because Android will not be optimized for quad core for a while. Plus android 4.0 ice cream sandwich has hardware acceleration. I am probably going to keep my sensation though, haven't had any problems with my sensation yet.

Easy answer if you're looking for a new phone right now from an older phone. It would be ridiculous to get a new Sensation right now; it is becoming so outclassed in so many ways. If you already have a new Sensation, it depends on if you think the $ will be worth it. I personally have a good amount of dough saved up and will seriously consider the Nexus Prime because it is an upgrade in every way over the Sensation (the whole 5MP thing is a non-issue because that is not what determines the quality of pictures; also I don't give a crap about plastic construction because living with the Sensation has made me value a phone that is fast and performs well over a phone with an aluminum build).

Gal Nex worth it now?

So I'm done with the sensation, all the "remove all sense, add fast in topic title" devs (no offence, but I personally think there's too many of this already).
I'm now thinking of getting a Gal Nex, only because of the AOSP development over there. but I am a little worried it might be slower than my sensation (1.5ghz vs 1.2, anyone? and the gpu?)
So in your honest opinion, do you think an upgrade to the gal nex is okay?
(btw, please don't go "if you didn't like sense and want aosp why did you buy the sensation. I got this because of the hardware, not some crappy sluggish UI HTC made.)

ive been through many phones already. i came back to the sensation because the specs of the current phones are all the same in some way. i chose sensation for build quality, looks, and camera. and especially with the One series coming out, wait for it.
Galaxy nexus is not an upgrade from sensation, it is a side grade. It's better in some ways but worse in others.

As above poster said, it's a "side-grade" rather than an upgrade. It's most likely that cpu doesn't make that much noticable difference: 1.2 should be enough to run contemporary apps (they're usually designed to be compatible with slower phones, hence why iPhone can get away with underclocking for instance), especially since you don't game. Ditto for the GPU. This should also lead to better battery life - along with having a more powerful battery, of course.
That said, there are a lot of quirks with the Nexus itself (and, to some extent, Samsung's handling of it). Camera, MTP USB protocol only, nonremovable SD card, question of whether car dock will ever be made. Make sure you research and are happy with all of them before buying.
It's been a few months, so the Nexus should be getting pretty cheap. I would get it for at most $600 U.S. Price promotions often come out here, though I'm not sure about in your geographical location.
I assume you know about the alternatives showcased in MWC that are coming out in a few months. Huawei Ascend D (the "fastest phone") is rumored to come with stock ICS for example. Galaxy Nexus is still probably the best bet right now for longer term dev support, however.

There are some amaizing development on diffrent kernels on the GN. So with a costum kernel you will brobably not feel like it´s going slower atleast...
Well, the Galaxy Nexus is a great phone, so is all of the Galaxy lines and it's variants.
But it is rumored that the S3 will come out within 6 months. If you have patience wait for that
If not go with the Galaxy Nexus, or Galaxy S2.
Personally an Infuse 4g User (Variant of the S2).
I really wouldnt get the Nexus and go for the S2 or wait a month or two for the Htc one X and im sure there will be AOSP roms for it soon
The one X looks like a beast even with the htc sense on it
The Galaxy Nexus is an awesome buy, the trouble with always waiting is that you end up buying nothing
As said its a side grade, but you get the benefit of quick novelty updates. Personally I would wait for A15 cored phones instead.
$1 gets you a reply
And this is why I bought my Nexus before MWC ...

YES YES YES, nexus ALWAYS gets support from google no matter what, for about 2 years. The one thing I have witnessed with android is horrible support and update timelines for every phone other than the nexus line. Plus if you're not happy, the nexus always has a rather big dev community
there are some really good changes in the new one so I think its better to go for a new one if you really like

After the Sensation what?

So, the Sensation has been out for a while and for me it has not lived up to my expectations. ICS is right around the corner for me but I'm sure it will make things somewhat more bearable until I do upgrade.
What is everyone planning on replacing their Sensation with?
Yesterday, I got to mess around with the Galaxy Note. All I have to say about that phone is that it is obscenely big. I love it. It's the only phone out now that is something truly different. Too bad it's AT&T.
The only other thing that is currently for sale is the Galaxy Nexus. Other than the fact that it's running ICS there isn't much to get excited about. I think I'm going to just keep my Sensation till the New Nexus phone is released and get on that one early.
I'm not a fan of Samsung's phones or touchwiz but I feel like HTC is just making phones while Samsung is experimenting with new forms and new ideas. If Cyanogemod 9 was out and if it were available on Tmo I'd be all over the Note.
What are you hoping to replace your Sensation with?
after so much Android, I'd like to try an iPhone or a WP7 device. then again I have my XE since one week only so I'm still in love
Replacing it now with Galaxy Nexus, ordered international version on dailysteals. I do not need the latest and greatest but want to have no skins and reliable software. I had custom ROMs since G1 but want to see how reliable is original Google software on hardware they test it with.
Sensation will go to DW who will replace her Vibrant.
Galaxy Note.
Or it's future WP7 equivalent because I can.
I'd go for the next iPhone only if it will have a 4" display. I really want to get myself an iPhone and see for myself what's all the fuss about.
But if Jellybean will be as innovative as ICS was when it launched I will definitely stay with Android and go for the next Nexus.

That being said I'm loyal to HTC for now - sense is the best skin IMO and AOSP also sick and I have the option of both! While the one series looks sick, I think the sensation will do me fine for at least another year. As of right now quad-core isn't a necessity for me... but we'll see

I just got my sensation. To be honest, in my opinion, companies comes out with every new versions of everything. But all in all, they're all the same. I was gonna wait for the HTC One S, but I figured, .3 difference on speed, just a little better on screen res. and beats? Not much of a difference, the sensation alone is fast and snappy, there is no reason for me to get anything high end because the sensation itself is a good device that pretty much do all the work. That's just me though AND, the sensation has a lot of love from the DEVs.

My personal experience is contrary.
My colleagues at work have iphones 4s. They often take photos for documentation. Their pics are generally ok for a phone camera but nothing special.
From what I see on a nearly daily base in real world, iphone photos are in no way superior to the pics I took with my X10i or take with my Sensation, which I think look remarkably clear.
Iphones produce exactly the same amount of crap as other phone cameras do.
Be warned ;-)

SG3

Being an HTC customer for years, I'm debating if I should jump ship to a Samsung product, the SG3. Should I and why? Or is Tmobile getting another HTC device in the near future worth waiting for?

Honestly? I'd go GS3 if I was gonna upgrade right now. The One S is 'eh' at best and since it's a "high end HTC device", we probably won't see another one for a while. I contemplated upgrading to it within the week but they said I'd lose my 10 GB grandfathered data plan - which I absolutely refuse to do.
Funny thing too, they offered me a One S for $350 + Two year extension. I asked them if they realized that it's two hundred to two fifty on Craigslist in my area. They had nothing to say to that.
I absolutely love the SGS3, but wouldn't get it right now for T-Mobile for three reasons.
First, the T-Mo version costs more than other carriers SGS3s. That just rubs me the wrong way.
Second, we get the Qualcomm S4 version here. Dual core? Seriously?? I think that's lame considering EU gets the Exynos quad core version.
And last, and most annoying, the T-Mo SGS3 won't be compatible with the upcoming LTE because of the spectrum T-Mo is planning to use. Boo!
TL;DR I'd just wait. Sensation isn't top of the line anymore, but it's still pretty decent until some real upgrades find their way stateside.
Well i thought google said they will release at least 5 nexus devices in november, one for each different manufacturer. Why not get the next htc nexus then?

What's bad with dual core? The S4 keeps up with the Tegre3 and even beats it in some benchmarks. Does Android even benefit from quad core yet? I don't believe it really does. Hell, I have eight cores in my notebook and Windows hardly uses four of em.
If you want a good phone with good performance and best AOSP experience (speed, battery life, etc) wait for upcoming nexus.
I can live with sensation until google released new nexus phone.
But if you want a beautiful software and functionality go to HTC.
I dont like samsung experience but i should admit their hardware still the best (not its build quality tho).

I was considering to get the S3 but went to T-Mobile store and I was underwhelmed. Mainly because of the screen. And it didn't give me that wow feeling.
Anyways, I will wait. Sensation is pretty awesome at the moment.

Nothing bad with it really. Like I said, our Sensations are more than capable right now with dual core. It's just that if I'm going to break out the wallet and potentially renew my contract, it better be for a serious upgrade. An update from s3 to s4 just doesn't blow me away.
Remember when our Sensations came out and GB wasn't ready for dual core? Well now we have ICS and all is good. Same concept. I'd really hate to be on a dual core SGS3 and then the next version of Android comes out supporting quad core.
Silly to upgrade now. The GS3 is certainly "better" than the Sensation, but it's not enough of an improvement imo to justify the upgrade. I side with the people who say you should upgrade once new phones absolutely blow yours out of the water, not when they are merely a bit better. S4 dual core is pretty nice, and it beats the Sensations lackluster S3, but I'd rather wait for S4 quad core + Adreno 320 (a truly next gen gpu rather than Adreno 225, which is a slightly modified version of our gpu) or A15 exynos + Mali t-604 phones to hit, because they will undoubtedly roundhouse kick our sensations.

Good point. I, however, would like to mention that I never meant that I would get a GSIII right now, cause I'd have one if I did. All I meant was that if OP was getting a phone upgrade right now, GSIII over any HTC offering [T-Mobile's One S] is the way to go.

Why should i decide to stay with one s?

Hello everyone, I would like to ask you a couple of questions. HTC ONE S is a beautiful phone, fast, the best to the touch and with a processor speed but ... But in the period where they are baked increasingly cheap quad core and even dual core as the new pro s4 are faster. In addition there is the problem that is not particularly supported by Community, stay with One S?
Express your thoughts thanks
If you want a dull vanilla android then yes ! But I would stay with one s or maybe shift to one x , one x+ or Samsung galaxy s3 ,try using a aokp/aosp Rom that's how a nexus device is,, very plain !! , if you got money to spent go buy some other quad cores like one x and sgs3 , people go with HTC and Samsung coz of their innovative ui ( sense for HTC and touchwiz for Samsung) . Android has only be rocking because of Samsung HTC and Sony , nexus devices are cheaper but not that enjoyable ,

I would say opposite of what this guy says. Samsung and HTC throw crappy interfaces over stock android making it slower and only causing you to not get the updated operating system timely on your phone. Vanilla android is best and I'm planning to buy nexus 4 as soon as it's out. One decent reason to stick with one s is that you don't have money to throw around buying the latest and greatest phone.

Is the phone unable to do something that you need it to do? Are a few more megaflipflops of processing power really going to make your life better?
If the answer to either of these questions is yes then buy another phone.
Trendy
Trend!!!
People wants to be trendy. Mostly iPhone users. Do not be like them.
As @Troute said: Is the phone unable to do something that you need it to do?
I find support pretty decent depending on what you're looking for. There's a good variety of different ROMs available to suit your tastes. Even though there's faster phones available now, it really depends on what you need to make your phone work for you. If you don't notice any issues with lag, performance is good, and battery life is good then I think things should be ok?

I spent $285 on this phone I think I got a solid deal. Definitely don't get an iphone anywhere near retail value. If I had to get a phone right now I would buy the Nexus 4.
Well as it stands right now the nexus 4 is gonna be strictly worst than our phone cuz LG made it. Anyone one else confused on that?
I say go for a onex+ or a s3. imma skip out on this round of smartphones though cuz our one s is one of the top phones out. Everytime i pull it out ppl are like OMG what phone is that. pretty much once the wow factor is gone its time for an upgrade lol
I mainly need a really powerful camera to replace compact digital camera for daily use, I don't want to take two devices go out. So, I will stay with One S and not to go with N4 like everyone else here.
I will probably buy a new phone later when HTC or Sony introduces their new camera sensor. HTC is going to roll out 5" 1080 J Butterfly with 8M cam in Dec on Japan, wanna see if the sensor get improved and I might get one.

LG is guilty of terrible software, but with the Nexus 4 that's not an issue. The hardware of the Nexus 4 is patchwork. On one hand you have the quad core S4 pro, on the other you're stuck with only 12gb of accessible space. On one hand you have an amazing screen, on the other the battery life sucks and can't be upgraded. You have to decide what you can tolerate to decide if a Nexus is for you. I love AOSP, but HATE limited storage. I love the resolution, but HATE the battery life. So I won't be getting a Nexus 4.

I may get the nexus 4 it will have a lot of devs working on it and I could just flash a sense rom onto the phone because I like sense. And I really want nfc
It's only 280 pound for 16gb and it beats the GS3 in specs

I don't like the thing that they're delaying new updates too much and plus it's not that well made except the ceramic body ofc
