[Q] Can i delate some of this processes/apk's ? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hello I wanted to modify my CM 7.2 with delating some apk's from system to make my rom very light. I delated a lot of processes by myself but i'm not sure with some of them. My idea was making a lot of free Ram without losing stable system and comfortable work. I show you a list of apk's which stay still on my system:
-ADW Launcher
-Camera 2.3.7
-File manager (must stay on my phone)
-Google backup Transport 2.3
-Google One Time Init 2.3.3
-Google Partner Setup 2.3.3
-Google Services Framework 2.3.4
-application Installer 1.1
-package installer 2.3.7
-Android keyboard 2.3.7
-Contacts 2.3.7 (must stay)
-Market Feedback Agent 2.3.3
-download Manager 2.3.7
-Package Access Helper 2.3.7
-settings memory
-installer certification 2.3.7
-contacts list 2.3.7
-sharing bluetooth 2.3.7
-user Dictionary
-CyanogenMod Settings
-VPN services 2.3.7
That's it, I omitted the part of the process because it was obvious to me that it must be .

take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204340
is not really up to date, but it will get you there
you won't really gain ram, because all apks you listed won't run in the background, well except adw launcher but you could try zeam launcher is more resource friendly.

I wouldn't recommend deleting any of those. It will cause alot of issues.

Than you for reply, this link was very useful I will try to delate VPN Service, i think i don't need it, it's last apk which i delate from my system. Do you think it's a good idea?

looks really cool , thx for sharing buddy~
can you put some screen shots?
thanks for your job
are the original sounds, like ringtones still there? Also, will there be further updates? if so could you remove footprint as it seems useless.
I just tried this and it all looks good, except for me the nexus boot screen takes forever. Also, pressing home no longer brings up the helix launcher, it instead goes to helicopter view.
is there wifi tethering in this rom?

why have you removed these apps? what's wrong with them? i find them quite useful...
maps is still there. Also, helixlauncher does not work with this, but helix launcher 2 does. odd
edit: @darkvasyak, just pull the apk's out of the rootedupdate. Also, helixlauncher works after installing helixlauncher 2 first.

Some original ones I like are there some are removed.
Of course there will be further updates.. Want to keep my Desire for a while
What is your problem with the nexus bootscreen?
Boots up very fast and looks nice.. So please tell exactly what you mean.
I think I will remove footprints, too.
I will think about to include the helix launcher.
If you want it you can install helix launcher 2.

Working on that. Device is connecting, but not getting a connection. Have to look if I can change something in the kernel, but atm is hard to do so.

Nothing is wrong with them.
I just don't like to have a rom full of generic stuff.
I think I will include a update zip with the default apps, so everybody can deside.

Any chance that the smileys and coloured menus can be installed via apk file?

crash when loading htc sense on home page after flashing(after setting up wifi, sync account, time & date, etc).. it just keeps on force close..
what have i done wrong? i hv no problem with flashing other custom rom

I got the same thing too and don't think I did anything different...
Hmm, so has anyone flashed this ROM and it works?
Also, how about boosted audio gain? Cyanogen has it on his Nexus ROM and it sounds loads better. When I use my Desire, it's hard to hear people
The rom works andy.
Pay87: My phone still has maps for some reason, I do not know why. Also about the bootscreen, the first time I booted up it took about 15 seconds for me to get into my home screen, maybe it was a one time thing because I changed my bootscreen after that. I look forward to seeing what you do next
Is Danish with this ROM?

So it does
What are the chances of Swype getting cooked into the ROM like EvilD managed to do? I love Swype and hate having to use a standard keyboard now
**EDIT** I apparently get the same issue with this ROM as EvilD. I can only get 2G connection and the Market is incredibly slow (even over WiFi)
hi,
i like your rom, its whit sense, and a little bit smaller like the original one. i think, it would be a diffcul thing, to apply all whishes which the members here have.. one hundert people, one hundert requirements... what i miss is the wheater app from htc on the device, the widget is right there but no options to add or remove locations, and it looks much better than the one that you installed. footprints, fm-radio, friend stream, google talk, your news und wetter and the last one the flashapp can be removed.. ..and im very haaaappppy whit it.. are you able to do that please?
many thanks for your replay..

this is becoming really weird how some people cant get this to work and some can???? some roms work for some people and some dont, really weird!!!
Why not just optimize the rom and then for the programs dont install any, just provide the apks in a zip file so we can pick and choose instead of bugging you.

Wandering throu modacos forum i came across n issue when removing Facebook, it messes the syncing abilities of the device...

Not bad, there is a dark taskbar in the nexus section you can add, i think it will go nicely

it's a very fast rom.
I'm testing... It's very fast. Good Job. I have a question: In settings->aplications-> aplications manager, have a menu, it said: aplications in SD?
What is it? (i have empty) Is similar to app2sd? as I have to activate?
Thank you,
you can find the info for apps to sd here..second post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=690477
Thanks for the great rom...look forward to updates on this one
Anyone else get the LED bug where it stays on after disconnecting from the usb lead?
Cant wait for the video cam issues to be sorted either
so since this is based on .6 does that mean it has the same problems as that?
Now v0.2 based on DeFrost 0.7b
installing and testing. tnx for the work
So far everything smooth and fast
Hi, first thanks for the ROM.
Now, if you are trying to keep it clean as possible why did you add:
LauncherPro 0.4.4
Dialer One
Vatch White Clock
??
The Chrome To Phone its OK because its a really useful application.
The ROM have got Facebook and footprints or something like that??
I really want a ROM with just the basic to work and i install the apps.
Thank for your work again!!
Keep up the good work!

FroYo_inkreDroid_v0.2.zip <--- direct link

Nevertheless, looks very good.

It's a built-in feature in Froyo, if functioning it should ask where to install to when you install an apk, the application you're installing must support this though.
Nice, smooth and fast ROM.
But I have a problem with the gallery: after a zoom-in the picture remains low detailed...

Cyanogen's Pre-Req's Remain for this ROM
After reading the Barbones wiki - http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Barebones, I decided that I a better froyo experince could be had if I removed what I didn't/never use.
This is my first ROM modification that I'm posting (I've modded roms before but kept em to myself due to adding paid apps into the base build). Most of the questions that are to be had here, have already been answered in other threads (use the search button!)
This is not meant to be used by n00bs!
This is meant for advanced androiders that know what they're doing and how android works. So questions about how to do this and that, why is this and that, will not be answered (as I said before, already been answered in other threads, so stop being lazy and look for it).
Any other questions are fine though.
The following has been removed from the 8/14/2010 nightly build:
(This is all to my preferences; Fully Tested on my MT3G. Should work on G1 but I don't own one, so a G1 tester confirmation would be helpful)
If options you need were removed, so what, download another ROM and GAPPS package.
---TO INSTALL---
Do you really need to know how to do this? This is just a mod.

V1
Version 1
---ROM removals---
=ADWLauncher - (Replaced with vanilla launcher for performance;
If you want LauncherPro or ADWLauncher, go download it since they're constantly being updated)
=Calculator (I have a real calculator!)
=Development.apk (I never use this)
=Email.apk (I stick with GMail for it's push services; POP3/IMAP polling kills the battery)
=Gallery3D (Replaced with 2D Gallery; 3D Gallery is too slow and buggy for me)
=LiveWallpaperPicker (Live Wallpapers are not designed for D/S hardware)
=Music.apk (Better options in the market; don't use my phone for music for batttery conversation)
=Protips.apk (Who cares about this!?!? I sure don't!)
=RomManager.apk (Rom Manager has been updated a few times and the CM version is now old)
=SoundRecorder.apk (The icon is ugly and plain; pick your own recorder from the market)
=SpeechRecorder.apk (Same as above)
=term.apk (I prefer to use Better Terminal Emulator Pro, no use in having two terminal apps)
=voicedialer.apk (I never use this since I'm never driving or using a bluetooth headset)
=vpnservices.apk (I never use this)
=All ringtones and notification (one stayed -Drip) sounds (I use my own/removed for system space)
---ROM Additions--
Toggle 2G
---GAPPS Removals---
=Amazon MP3 (Because I never use the music app, why would I keep this?)
=GenieWidget.apk (Constantly running in background, no matter what I try. I use the browser to keep up on news and weather anyway)
=googlevoice.apk (Updated version in Market; would rather have user control of updating)
=VoiceSearch.apk (Removed to update to Market version)
=Maps (Newer version in market)
-----
To Do List
Add theme options
Integrate Firerat's AutoMTD patcher
Create setup script to allow user choice of launcher (with market links) and other options
Add pershoot's overclocking kernel
Start building from source
EDIT: Force closes when opening Settings. =/
How many times have you tried opening the settings?
More than 10 times. All force closes.
Sent from my HTC Dream using XDA App
Also echoing the Force closing on G1's when flashed.
Ok, try running a fix permissions. If not, send me a logcat. My intuitions is telling me that it could be the launcher. Will check when I get home.

Not so advanced, but good work I guess.
I think when he says that he means if you have to ask questions on how to set it up or how to fix your bootloop (when you prolly just forgot to wipe) don't install. He doesn't want to have to walk every person who doesn't understand how to set up swap or how to remove or add app through the processes. And i totally agree with him. Many rom pages get cluttered (over 200 pages) with a bunch of useless crap like how much swap people or using when they should be posting logcats or reporting problems. Much stuff like setups vary on what and how the user uses the phone for. So the chance of one person set up will prolly only work about 5% of the time. See even this post is useless but you asked so i answered. Again this is my opinion on why he said that.

New version out.
I would like to say, good work on this. I gave it a try yesterday since I had been running CM5 for a while (after an attempt to smoothly run CM6) on my G1. It was good until apps2sd was needed via Firerat's scripts. The phone was super sluggish and I was basically back to the same experience with my first try at CM6. This was after a full wipe and fresh SD card. I think I'll hold off on 2.2 until I change devices, but again, good work
Very smooth on my tmobile g1

Ok here is my second incarnation of this rom,
Taken touchpal out due to i like the standard touchpad much easier to use
Added new abtract default wallpaper
Now you have the choice of two launchers, either launcherpro or the lg evo launcher
The evo laucher feels really quick and it has a customisable app draw which is nice, kept the interface clean, just the facebook app left on one of the screens cos i know you all use it lol
Backgrounds app is excellent for changing wallpapers with many differant ones to choose.

Release 3 - Jellyfish edition
This is almost the same rom as release 2 but it has jap jellyfish as the base thanks to kallt_kaffe for his hard work.
used smart dialer instead of standard
all apps are the same as above
changed default wallpaper from r2 just to say its r3
added gps fixes
added ril fixes
keyboard is stock standard
on lg evo launcher you need to drag phone dialer from app drawer to front screen and then add it to launcher by dragging it over spare slot on left, i have left it this time incase anyone wants something differant on it.
everything should feel the same as last release, its for those who want to try jellyfish as well as the other but want it to look the same and use the same.

I just got the SF last weekend, rooted installed CW recovery and flashed the r2 rom.
One little problem I face is when dialling a contact the name of the contact is not displayed only the number, same happens when I receive a call as well..
Is this a known problem? Or have I missed anything..
Thanks for the rom.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

[Q] Ask for Custom ICS

Hi dev´s and interested readers. :good:
I´m searching for a time for the right thread to ask my question, hoping this´s right place.
For a long time i used a HTC Buzz, always modded this crappy and slow hardware with Cyanogen and others
´Cause of small purse i bought a Phicomm FWS710EU to get a bit faster Hardware. It has a 1Ghz single Core Qualcom CPU
running on ICS 4.0.4, Build FWS710EU_0000_4.0.4_1.0T12_1105_SH with Kernel 3.0.8-perf [email protected]#1
Its fast enough for my things, but its not fine tuned, Android is not half nor complete, quiet no tools
May anyone take hand on this thing building a good and mostly complete Rom based on Jelly Bean or ICS?
Or may anyone assist me to build my own? I´m not noob, but time is short, fulltime Job...
Thanks for reading
Just a quick push
Is someone using the same device? just reply, found out some interesting things
Sorry for "bumping" this tread but I guess the only excuse to this is the actual lack of the device in the hands of developers.
I got it for Xmas before Xmas (lol) and rooted it just a week after I got it BUT couldn't find CyanogenMod or any other custom ROM for it so I installed:
- the updated boot.img via fastboot (you must find it on the English Phicomm supports & downloads page)*,
- Link2SD (really, is 200 MB enough?!),
- "Reloaded ICS for CM9" (Themed statusbar),
- CM10 bootanimation.zip,
- customly modified framework-res.apk (I hated the shutdown screen. I replaced it with the Phicomm P without orange BG),
- Xposed framework with Xposed App Settings (ParanoidAndroid-like forcing of Tablet UI on some apps) and Tweakbox (CRT Screen off effect),
- (graphically glitched) ClockworkMod Recovery (built via the builder on the CWM homepage, jenkins.cyanogenmod.com/job/recovery/17671/ ),
- "Project Butter for ICS",
- Nova Launcher (stock one has special icon theme masking which I personally deny on some apps),
- Widget Locker (Widgets on the lockscreen),
- Apollo (CM music player),
- LMT (ParanoidAndroid pie menu replacement),
- Greenify and Advanced Task Killer (Greenify for more nasty apps, Advanced Task Killer to clear RAM here and there),
- SD-Booster (cache size of 2048 KB),
- ROM Manager (must have),
- Titanium Backup (must have),
- SuperSU (must have),
- Busybox Installer (must have),
- other root tools (for example modifying CPU governors and such),
- AdAway,
- FDroid,
- DSPManager (from CM9, works but shuts itself sometimes down, maybe due to lack of RAM),
- Google Now,
- the LEDFlashlight.apk from the Phicomm update.zip (3rd party apps fail) as system app,
- Jelly Bean Gallery and Camera (Camera sometimes glitches),
- Jelly Bean Keyboard (Swiping is faster than typing),
- Gmail (as stock email app replacement because the stock one sends 2 copies of the email, has tag problems and so on...)
and lots of other apps that I can't list right now (such as games, games and other games).
You mustn't do the same as me but I hope I gave you some directions.
*The updated boot.img contains an updated kernel. I felt a speedup but can't really prove it. The only downside is that the screen stays black for a time at the boot animation. It got released in January.
I would like to build CyanogenMod by myself but I can't because of the bad PC I've got (32bit, 2gb ram is tooooo low-end).
