Evo Shift on Metropcs error status 7 - EVO Shift 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all, i was wondering if anyone could shed some light for a problem i'm having with my htc evo shift, it is rooted and connected with metropcs, everything was working fine until i tried to install a different rom, now i can't install anyother rom, everytime i try it gives me an error, error status 7 and it aborts the installation, i've read some threads about this issue but i honestly don't understand them, can anyone here please pretty please help me with this issue, if I do a set factory default while in bootloader will this take me off the metropcs network, is there a way to fix this issue? it's really driving me crazy, i had the data and mms working but now not even that works, '
Please help!

Do a full wipe= format system, data, cache and ext, wipe dalvik then flash a different ROM, It might be the ROM you are flashing don't match the phone, or something to that effect, when I ported MIUI for the first time I got a status 7 and it happened to be my boot.img I was using at the time

[Q] miui .....makes everything crash

i have a incredible 2 with Verizon and i went into ROM manager and did a backup for cyanogen 7 and then downloaded miui straight onto the phone and flashed it. when the phone rebooted itself and started using miui it got to the lock screen and when i unlocked it it started giving me messages that various applications are crashing. an example of one of the messages is " the process android.process.media has stopped working unexpectedly. Please try again." so can someone please tell me what is going on and how to fix the problem ?
The rom you got could have bugs. Have you tried overclocking your device? MIUI roms use a lot of resources which could also cause the problem. If you still have problems, then try flashing a new rom.
Sounds to me like you didn't wipe Data when you flashed miui.
I'm not having any issues at all.
Go into recovery and wipe cache, dalvik, and data. Then reflash MIUI. If you don't wipe properly you'll get force closes.
I suggest flashing through recovery instead of through ROM Manager. I don't trust it to do what it's supposed to do, and it's easy to do it manually.

From CM7 to CoreDroid Problems

Hey All,
I currently have CM7 installed. I wanted to flash CoreDroid, but when I did I got all these errors stating that various processes failed to load and the like.
I reverted back to CM7 for now, any ideas?

Need more information man if we are to properly help you.. what kind of error messages, what steps did you take before trying to install
I think it goes without saying but wiping data, cache and dalvik cache when switching roms is always recommended and in this case necessary..

More info please. What ics ROM are u using?
If you can read this, I's been a drinkin
I had a similar problem with a used Desire HD -- I eventually found that doing a factory data reset solved the problem.
Seach the thread of the Rom your currently using first to see if anyone else if having that issue. Be sure to FULLY wipe before flashing the Rom. After fully wiping and re flashing, test your WiFi before restoring anything from tibu. If it works start restoring you user apps one by one to see if maybe one of those is giving you the fits. DO NOT restore any system apps.

Also, don't forget to flush the caches when installing the ROM. I know that failure to do this can cause issues with a fresh ROM.

i was a nub and restored wifi passwords/config with tibu and killed my wifi entirely until i wiped. dont make this mistake
superwipe
I recommend you get super wipe from the Android rom revolution HD thread. Boot recovery and run super wipe whenever you install a new rom or during some updates. After super wipe than install your ROM and.then install inspire mod.zip and then reboot. If your wifi then does not work then you should install wifi fix. Most ROMs I've used I don't need the wifi fix actually never needed it. I highly recommend asopx ICS ROM. Latest version 31 has most everything except video can working.

I was using AOSPx all day today and then around 7pm randomly lost signal and it never came back. Had to do factory reset and its working again but now I'm back to reinstalling a ton of apps.
asopx
Mehal88 strange about your wifi problem on asopx. Did you try a.simple reboot instead of factory wipe? I'm assuming you are talking wifi signal and not att? I'n my area radio, ril, and apn settings make a HUGE difference.

[Q] Switching Wi-Fi on then off kills mobile data

I have recently had this problem start happening to my phone out of nowhere. I am with T-Mobile, have an HTC Sensation and am currently running Paranoid Android. When I realized I couldn't get data to come back on I tried to revert to a back up that worked perfectly. After restoring the backup the problem still persists. When I do a factory data reset and fresh ROM install the data works fine until I connect to Wi-Fi. When I turn Wi-Fi back off the little H above the cell signal bars will blink every 5 seconds but never fully establish a connection. This is happening no matter what settings and no matter what rom I run. I am completely stumped at this point. Can anyone please help me out? I would provide a log cat but not sure if its possible with a mac? Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide me with useful information.

Paranoid Android V16
Have you tried upgrading to version 17? I would make sure and do a full wipe then install version 17 and see if problem still persists. I'm also running paranoid Android and never had any problems except once when I flashed over an update without wiping, I was having data issues then. Once I did a full wipe my data restored perfectly. I'd give this a try and see how it goes. I know I have this same problem with cm roms but never with paranoid Android. Give it a try with FULL wipe and see if issue is gone. Best wishes

I tried Dragonkors full wipe script followed by flashing v17 this morning, and this same issue is still happening. This happens on my phone no matter what ROM I use, and after full wipe every time. Is there some settings stored on my sd card that I could try to reset to make the switching from Wi-Fi to high speed data network work again? I don't think this is a ROM problem since its happening on all ROM's. Its not how I'm flashing ROM's either as I have been doing so since the Sensation came out. I don't know what is left to troubleshoot this problem, and am kind of out of ideas. I hope a developer on here sees this post, and can make sense of the situation as I cannot.

I have completely formatted the sd card, re-downloaded V17, placed on blank sd card, formatted all partitions except sd card, installed V17.
Still have same problem
I think the problem is narrowed down to faulty sim card, something on T-mobiles end, or a hardware problem??
Anyone got any other advice?

I was experiencing this issue on paranoid android also. My mobile data stopped working on v.16, I went back to v.15, then I flashed v.17 and it fixed.
Also, you can try it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34906909#post34906909
Or any other rom. Right now I'm using aokp by frankinstine as it gives me more battery.
Good luck.

The crappy thing is aokp by frankinstine is one of the roms I flashed hoping that this problem would not persist, but it did.
I did a factory data reset, installed the rom, connected to wi-fi, disconnected wi-fi= data dead.
The only way I have been able to make it come back on so far is to: go into settings >dev options>launch tools>connectivity
Inside connectivity settings, I hit Remove Default Route, then Stop HiPri, then Start HiPri in this order and it will make my data connection come to life.
I don't understand why the phone won't connect automatically anymore. This is a pain to have to do every time I leave wi-fi. If anyone understands why this might happen out of no where when no changes were made to a perfectly functioning ROM setup please feel free to chime in. Thanks.

Yea I tried switching all that around...made no difference. I'm going by T-Mobile tomorrow to get a new sim card to see if that fixes the issue.

UPDATE:
Getting an updated SIM card solved this problem. Not sure if mine was faulty or just out of date... it was the one that came with the phone when the Sensation came out. Also a guy at the T-mobile store told me they are adding several LTE towers in my area at the moment, so maybe this rendered my SIM card obsolete. Not sure exactly what was going on, but at least I finally found a solution. Thanks to those who posted to help me troubleshoot this strange problem.

[Q] broke phone in a special way

i have a rom working on the phone (cm10.0.0) have no clue whats going on with phone.
basicly the issue is when i start the phone it says sdcard safe to remove if i try to mount the media storage it quickly jumps and then says the same thing i need any help possible at this point willing to try anything. does anyone know of a solution
(phone is htc one s (s4)
Backup everything and do a factory reset. Also wipe all caches. Then reflash the ROM and GAPPS. If the problem still exists you could try another ROM. CM10.2 is very stable so I would upgrade to it.
