[Q] Exchange problem: device encrypted - HTC Desire S

Hi, when setting up an Exchange-account (Exchange server is 2010) I get an error stating: Device encrypted. And I'm not able to sync with Exchange.
This isn't true as far as I know. I cannot find any encryption setting on my Desire S. Also our Exchange-server don't enforce devices to be encrypted.
Colleagues of me with the same device and problem have tried Touchdown from Nitrodesk, then it is possible to sync with Exchange.
It is not that I'm against Nitrodesk or other thirdpartysoftware, I'm just trying to understand the problem.
Android version is 2.3.5. Anybody here with a clue?

In addition: I think the problem has something to do with Sense 3.0. Because other HTC device with Android 2.3.5 and Sense 2.x don't have the problem. Samsung-devices with Android 2.3.5 and off course no Sense also do not hvae the sync-problem.

I had the same problem with 3.5. In 3.0 it worked fine. I worked around by installing a HTC mail.apk that has eliminated the security restriction. It's somewhere around these forums

Thanks for your reply and suggestion. I will try to find the mail.apk you mention.

@nevara: Are there specific requirements at the ' HTC mail.apk'? I'm new to this subject and there seem to be quite a lot of them around.

[req] gmail app apk?

I dunno where to exactly ask this, but the Eris just recently got 2.1 leaked however one of the issues I have noticed that the gmail app is not loading pics for some reason. So, I was wondering if there was a kind developer/user that is willing to give us the N1's gmail 2.1 apk so we can install it on our 2.1 device and see if that fixes the issues. Thank you.

You could just download gapps-passion-ERE36B-2-signed (here) and extract Gmail.apk.
And that has the 2.1 gmail apk? Thanks
Should I also install the GmailProvider.apk also? If so, what order? Thanks.
I guess when I click on the gmai apk, either one, I can't install it as it shows it is installed and when I hit uninstall it doesn't work.
Turns out, the issue may not be gmail per-say but something about the leaked update not allowing full access to the internet.
Do you have the Desire apk(including sense apks) to upload?
It is a problem with gmail http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2507 not with the leaked rom.
again how did i not have that issue with 1.5?

That's a question best asked to Google, not XDA. This problem affects handsets across multiple versions of Android. I couldn't care less though. I can't f'ing stand inline images. Attach or don't send me anything.
Yeah, the more I am started reading more I notice it an Android problem and not an issue with the leaked 2.1 rom. Thank you all.

Stock 2.1 Calendar and Email Apps

Hey guys,
Is there any possible way to get the stock 2.1 calendar and email apps with the exchange sync onto our rooted 2.1 x10's.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Bump!!
Would really love a reply if anyone knows.
you can try this

Hey. Thanks for your reply. The APKs in that folder are the ones that came with the X10 version of 2.1. What Im after is the apps that come on the standard 2.1. Sony Ericsson removed the ones with the Native Exchange Sync functionality.

Dylan

Even I have heard that the native Exchange app for 2.1 is not as good as moxier but I still would like to try it. Could you please update us if you found it>? I am looking as well. Probably someone from Nexus one should have it.
I have found a number of 2.1 Email and Calendar apk's. Its installing them thats the problem. I either dont have an option or get a parsing error. If someone can assist in this that would be great.
I have attached some of the apks for your reference.
I yet to find a solution for this. 2.1 exchange had problem with wipeing but it was fixed at some points but no trace of any solution of instaling.

[Q] mail.apk just for 2.1?

Members,
I've been using the mail.apk (Work Email).
This application was extracted from a HTC device by XDA and made available for any Android phone, some time ago. Got it from Nexeo Web site, posted 24/Jul/09
However recently I upgraded my phone to Android 2.2.1. The application install fine but as soon as I try to launch it it crashes to force close.
My device is a Milestone 1 but the issue also happen in a Galaxy S (2.1 fine, 2.2 crashes).
It seems that the application is not supported or does not support FROYO.
Is there a way to have it working on Android 2.2?
I really appreciate any help but please do not suggest any other active sync email application, tried all. None get even close to "Work Email."
Thanks in advance.

Try searching the market for Enhanced Email. Not as pretty as HTC Sense mail client but works flawlessly with Exchange.

[BUG/REQ_Android_ICS] Sync Mails via Exchange!

Hey Developers
I have a problem with ICS on my Sensation... Every ROM i tried it was the same... (InsertCoin, ARHD etc.)
When i want to sync my mails via exchange (gmail) the settings i setup are not saved, every time when i hit the mail icon there are only 3 days synched and the sync size is also reseted to default 5kb...
Sync days and time from - to stay saved, only those two options always resetet... Why??
Is there any fix for this or is it an build bug from ICS?
Thanks!
Me too!
I've exactly the same problem, doesn't matter what ROM I use or if I full wipe or not, and it's REALLY ANNOYING.
Sorry not much help, but I share your pain...
I know, I'm experiencing the same
yeah, this problem has been in every sense 3.6 rom i've used. anyway, the solution i used is to used a de-sensed rom which does not contain this error. (hypernonsense is very stable for use)
Wrong section and it's a well known bug.

I think we all know that this bug is well known.
So think the idea of this thread is to show our devs how many people are suffering of this problem.
I also think that everyone knows that it's HTC's fault, but maybe our geniuses here at xda-dev are better than the HTC-devs in finding a solution
I'd love to see this working!
Hi guys,
in my ROM it is working fine,I use NRGZ ROM ICS with exchange active sync, exchange server, not gmail.
I tried out and both points are saved..

Any fix for this? I am getting the same for my gmail account, but not my company mail. Strange... If anybody here does not experience the issue with gmail, please share your setting. Thank you.
I have the same problem with Hotmail. I tried ARHD, InsertCoin, and Elegancia. Have not tested NRG ICS, will try later this week.
ICS has been out for already a couple of weeks. Has anyone tried it on STOCK ICS?

Yep, it still exists. It's a bug on all ROM's based on the Stock ICS release.
Installed yesterday ARHD 6.6 and settings stay,as long as I do not turn off the handset or restart it.
I know it may or may not be the ideal solution, but when I had my HTC Desire it also had problems with exchange active sync, and like the Desire I have installed the AOSP ICS mail apk and so far push email has been working fine and sticking to the assigned settings regardless of reboots etc.

Hi, this problem is driving me crazy.
My work exchange account works fine, settings are saved and stay there even after restart, but the settings of my hotmail (config as exchange account also) are not kept.
Also I have some problems with some emails (originally written in english) which are displayed in chinese characters. I can't find anyway to show them in English.
Can someone post or link the ASOP ICS mail apk?

Fixed with OTA 3.33 update

It is finally fixed with OTA 3.33 firmware update (installed yesterday) in Europe.
Confirm, finally the fix on the latest OTA.
Also the HTC Note was placed.
The initial optimization has disappeared.
Nice update!

htc sync version 900

Hi there, I noticed this app in my downloaded apps section in the system settings. Don't recall downloading it specifically and searched on google and here didnt turn anything up. Can anyone confirm if this is a legit app? Is it the HTC sync that is installed when installing drivers/adb (as part of the rooting process etc)? If thats it then fine, but wanted to check it out as it has access to a lot of information. The app is 1.21Mb in size.
Im rooted and s-off'd and running virtuous inquisition rom. Grateful if someone could provide clarification.

Did anyone ever get back to you on this? I had to re-root my htc evo 4g and the rom I used has htc sync 900. It won't sync and my laptop htc sync program produces unknown error 1000.
Any clues?
Thanks,
Eric
@ efrice
I have been having the same problem, im on a un-rooted htc sensation. I uninstalled the htc sync version 900 from the phone and then tried syncing with the computer. It worked first time once that was gone. Hope that helps
