Opera mobile on the desire z is rapid, the panning is so quick and renders as it zooms for quick reading. The performance isn't as good on my friends evo 3d and I'm concerned I might not take much of a leap forward in browser experience with the note if it suffers like the evo 3d.
The browsing experience on Ics isn't that great yet and poor for opera mobile compared to GB, so I'm also looking for a phone that will perform well with ICS (I presume the note will)
Does anyone have any footage or general comparison conclusions between the different browsers on the note?
Thanks in advance.

I own a note. I have tried every browser I know of, and opera mobile is still my day to day driver. Its smoother than anything else when loading big sites like engadget (not the mobile version) and I really enjoy the way it renders fonts.
I'm terribly sorry to hijack the thread, but do you find as fast when enabling Opera Turbo on 3G?
I am no expert on this, and do little browsing on my phone, but when I do, OM seems the best of all. I especially like that reflow of text to the screen. That seems to work regardless of what else may be on the screen, which is great (meaning I do not have to think).
Regarding performance, it certainly works fast enough for me, but I am not a speed junkie.
I too find OM to be the best for my needs. Primarily the pinch to zoom with auto text reflow is crucial to me and none of the others seems to have this feature. Some websites do not allow pinch to zoom whereas most do.
One issue I have with OM is when I am on a website is that it closes every time I switch from portrait to landscape. Every time!
When I launch OM again, it goes back to the webiste I was trying to view in landscape.
Is anyone else haveing this experience and is there a way to fix it?
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall but that is not the fox.

I hate opera and dolphin and firefox and stock. I can't wait for the ICS update and use android stock or chrome.
I used to use Miren Browser but can't find it anymore in the market.
I am happy using 2 of the browsers
1. SimBrowse ( My own Developed one)
2. Firefox
They keep me alive for most of the time, and I am happy using them

Just curious, what's your issue with dolphin? The latest beta I'm on seems perfect.

Hi Guys..
I have installed Fennec.. Mozilla's offering into the Win Mo browser market...
has anyone else tried it out at all? at first glance it seems quite good but unsure what pitfalls there are to using this.
Ta
i tried it, but its not finished yet. nearly nothing works and its very slow.
i'm waiting for it too, but mozilla is making verly little progress on that.
you should really try opera 10 beta 3, its the best browser for the hd2
at this time, i think!
No! Opera Mini 5 Beta 2 is the best browser! It's soooooo fast! Much faster than Opera Mobile (no matter what version)!
not tried a nightly of fennec for a while, been watching the progress of the maemo version though.
Maemeingast everyone is entitled to their opinion, personally I think mini is a pile of java poo

LOL
And why is that?
(Just interested in why some people don't like Opera Mini eventhough it's so fast and even has the same interface as Opera Mobile.)
had a look at the latest 1.1a1 nightlies, (both 1.9.2 and 1.9.3)
and it's starting pretty fast (after the first time it takes ages during setup).
Pretty responsive now with moving around etc now which i a huge improvement, but still can't get it to load a website!
its also not cleaning up properly i dont think.. for example it wont restart unless you soft reset

Try skyfire 2.0,i think is much better ,you can find in marked too...I use opera sometimes, but I preffer skyfire...
Skyfire is good but opera mobile has that better edge, guess we'll have to wait till we all get it to judge it!

What do you guys think about Dolphin browser?
I personally didn't like Opera on my Android. I found most webpages didn't load properly and it was difficult to enter forms etc.
However, it did run quite a bit faster than other browsers.
I have since switched to Dolphin, though a tad slower than Opera, it seems to be quite reliable at loading webpages properly. It also has a ton of cool features.
I've not tried Skyfire.
Cheers
Guys, he wasn't talking about Opera Mini... He was talking about Opera Mobile which is a more fuller browser for our phones.
Op, you said it was just announced. Do you have a link to the article about the announcement?
Oh my bad, didn't know there was a difference
http://www.androidcentral.com/opear-mobile-available-android-you-cant-have-it-yet
It wasn't just announced. Opera announced it quite some time back. However, currently it is available on to OEMs. They haven't made it public yet due to unknown complications.
I'm testing dolphin browser right now,not bad,but can't play flash either, anybody knows a browser that can play flash?
opera mobile, lol. skyfire can do some flash video, but not real flash
xScope GL is the best browser for me, try it! It supports one finger zoom.. niiiiice ;-))

First of all, sorry if this isn't the right section.
I couldn't find anything relevant, so i ask here: has anybody a standard FroYo browser.apk to use on the tab? Will it work?
Or really, any other browser....
For what it's worth, i'm on a Samsung JK5 rom (euro tab), i have root and number22's gallery3d.apk
Thanks in advance for any help

What do you miss about the standard browser? I don't care for the samsung browser much myself. I found that miren browser is a great replacement.
Hope this helps
Thanks for the help. However i didn't mean an extra browser like the mentioned Miren or Dolphin (nor Opera or Firefox or SkyFire)... I meant literally a replacement for the stock browser
What i don't like in the stock one is that it force closes pretty much while doing anything!
Now, i don't know if replacing browser.apk will also fix globally the issue, but i sure hope so considering that any WebKit browser i used still shows signs of unstability, as opposed to the same browsers on an Xperia X10 mini pro... That runs a normal Android browser. At the moment i'm using Opera mobile because it's the best one that dosen't run on WebKit, and as such it gains plenty of reliability. I also get all my bookmarks (epic, i tell you) since i've been a desktop Opera user for 10 or something years, but that dosen't fix the built in one, that... Well, let's just say that Apple made a damn fine rendering engine.
So, any more help? If what i think is right, after replacing the "Samsung" one with the standard "Google" one it will make every other browser work properly!

Yup stock browser sucks,I don't think that it will get much better until honeycomb gets ported to the tab. I would also advise you to try dolphin mini in the meantime.

Thanks, i gave a try to Dolphin Mini and while it looks better than the hd one, it still crashes too easily. I do have half an idea to make a test...

You say you're using Opera mobile, so whats the problem? just don't use the stock browser then.
The only problem I have with Opera Mobile, is that is has no flash support. For the rest it's perfect(and really fast).

Sure, i'm using Opera and i get even more features than any other mobile browser, not to mention that i'm with Apple on the Flash subject, but... Put things in perspective: why my Xperia X10 mini has to be the best choice all around for web surfing with a smaller screen, slower cpu, one fourth of the ram and an older WebKit build? On the tab the only sensible choices are Opera, Firefox and Skyfire, as all the others are tainted by the (as usual) horrible coding that Samsung is famous for. And for what? They added support for animated gifs, almost as useless as Flash. I would've used the Xperia browser, but Sony customized it to look blue-ish like the rest of their interface, so i'm sure it will require that whole interface to run! Also, i changed the Samsung ruined gallery app with custom gallery 3d, and now it's a lot faster and it handles properly images.
I could use a custom rom(one built without the Samsung-iness and stable). I could. Thing is, i like the interface Samsung cooked up, it's this close to my idea of perfection, and no home replacement gets even close to this, not even ADW ex.

Wait, i'm not sure i get it. So the gallery became a lot worse in Froyo compared to the one in Donut but it gained animated gifs? Or it got more organized and Samsung broke something after adding the whole gif thing?
Custom one works perfectly and has no gifs... As far as i know gifs are an exclusive to Sense and TouchWiz.

You can disable the side tabs
I've used most browsers and think dolphin is the best. Opera is buggy for with with loading flash and images sometimes, but dolphin always works.

Hi,
I don't know if its only in Canada but I have netflix logo on the box and pre-installed on the tablet... It's unbelievable I can't even scroll the interface of netflix cause the tablet is just too slow, is it the same for everyone ??
Same thing for browsing the web, all the browsers are so slow its not even funny.
I don't get how some people in the a700 forum are saying its fast and responsive, I have a Htc One X and a Nexus 7 and the a700 is soooo slow in comparison.
Too bad the screen is super nice and I really like the size.
I have the german version and netflix isn't installed (they just started in the UK and trying to 'invade' westeurope ).
I don't have any major lags and it's running pretty fine (but not perfect).

hehe ok good to know, I don't really need Netflix but just find it weird that they give you direct access to something that's makes the tablet look so bad I put Apex launcher today and it seems much smoother than before, hope we get CM10 sometime !
US model. Netflix pre-installed, and I agree it runs like cold peanut butter. I uninstalled the version that came on it, installed an old cracked all-versions apk from last year, and when Google Play updated it, it ran fine.
My browser experience is fine, though. I'm using Dolphin and it is nice and smooth. Opera only shows up on half the screen, Firefox was the little engine that couldn't, and xScope was amazing, but only accessed mobile sites.
