I am currently running Sky ICS and I am able to flash a new update just fine. After settling in and restoring all of my apps I will restart. After restarting my phone will just start freezing up. It seems the media scanning is delayed when restarted. I have already tried the Odin method. I even wiped EMMC. After starting completely fresh it is still having the issue. My phone is completely unusable (no texting because of media scanner not working correctly?, data doesn't work either). Anyone else having this issue?

So I've been messing with it and decided not to restore all my pictures. Restarting seems to work just fine now. Had about 300 pictures.
maybe try thederekjay's wipe script?

Already tried that. The only thing that seems to work is wiping EMMC and not restoring all my pictures. Basically just starting fresh.
I seem to have solved my problem though i'm not sure that it will help you. I restored back to a stock backup I have then installed sky ICS fresh and it has been stable for 3 days now.

Exactly what the subject says. I tried clearing all data in the market app but that doesn't seem to be the problem. I'm running stock 2.2.2 with an OC kernel. Any help would be appreciated.

What are the symptoms that you are experiencing when you try to download an app
Sent From My Stock G2x
It says "Your item will be downloaded," after which the download bar appears. It disappears after a second as if the download had never even begun.

Try deleting dalvik cache, fix permissions. Turn off the phone for few minutes, turn it back on.
Did this started to happen after flashing kernel?
Make sure you are in a good reception area as well.

I think it did happen after kernel flashing. Sounds like a good idea. I'll try that and if it doesn't work I'll try reflashing Google apparently. I've noticed authentication errors. Barring that it's back to stock. Thanks for the advice

Same thing happened to me.. I fixed permission from Rom manager then reboot.
Now its working fine.
Just tried that myself. It seems to be working again

Good to hear that is working

This same exact thing happened to me after changing kernels. I went back to stock and it was still happening. Four hours later everything was fine again. Weird.
Not only do you need to clear market data.. But make sure you clear 'download manager' data too in applications

The problem started up again and continued after flashing back to stock. Someone else said that in this thread. I'll try the download manager wipe suggestion too. Thanks for all the input. I'm on a wifi network with a strong signal so it's a stable connection... Aaaaaand... starting download... still starting download... still still starting... At least it's doing something. I'll check back in later. Thanks again!
If I wipe dalvik cache, cache, fix permissions, and reboot after letting the phone sit for 10 minutes I can download four or five apparently after which the problem returns. I've also noticed that Google talk can't seem to log in.

Downloaded this ROM from the second link. Thought it was a bad download, as it would go through all the setup but it seems to install just fine, but when the phone reboots, the phone process immediately crashes, can't set any accounts (accounts crash), keyboard crashes, etc. Not sure what I'm hitting wrong, I've downloaded it again, wiped cache/reset, wiped dalvik, install just the rom first, set permissions, reboot into recovery, run again, install all software (launcher, factory apps, etc), but they still manage to crash (especially phone so I get no data unless connected to wifi).
Any advice? Thanks in advance
I believe thereis an issue with wifi calling, need to look into this, see if all works when not installing this, well try wiping, flashing rom only, then go back in aroma and flash anything but the removed from stock stuff. Hopefully this will be fixed soon

I absolutely LOVE this rom. I got over the .phone crashing as it doesnt effect me much it seems just crashes twice on start-up and thats it. I didnt download wifi calling and it still crashes for me. But this is seriously otherwise the best rom ive ever used. Many kudos.
Yeah. I'm having the same problem too. Basically, the phone won't work. Everything just crashes. I hope they make a fix really soon. I love this ROM.
I find it weird that GO is the SLOWEST out of any roms I've tried...and even though I don't like it, stock isn't as bad as I thought - just has bad bloat. GO has chrashed even more than stock has, but after I just did a clean stock, its faster and both previous experiences....

does anyone else have the issue with the modem? Can't seem to get it working again just get regular service no data.
Does anyone have a problem with random "pauses" while using apps? It's totally not noticeable for applications that aren't continually running animations (ie: kindle, text scrolling) but becomes evident when doing thins such as:
- recording video (the "pause" will cause the recording to stop randomly for both continuous and time lapse)
- playing games (will cause the game to go to the pause screen)
- tasker programming (I think this is affected because tasker will randomly close itself without a FC dialog, profiles and tasks seem okay)
I turned on debugging to see if it was a dirty screen or anything, but the touch coordinates don't change at all when the "pause" happens. Anyone have an idea how I can fix this? It is rather crippling to the N5.
I am rooted and I have seen this problem on all roms (and I believe I noticed it on stock too...)
I use a ballistic case, if anyone else has had problems with it...
Thanks in advance!
Using N5 on Carbon + Franco kernel
I guess no one's ever had this problem before? =[
Have you tried factory reset? Fixes most problems. Could be Franco's kernel has a bug in the latest release.

Have you tried going back to complete stock to see if that fixes the problem?

I've tried out a few roms (factory reseting and cache clearing between each one) to see if it was any one problem, but whether AOSP or CM based, I still have the problem =/

Do you mean stock + unrooting? I think I remember having the problem back then, but I don't quite remember before I rooted...I'll try going back to stock w/ root first and see if it's still happening. Thanks!

Yes follow the link in the general to go back to complete stock and that will eliminate anything and everything that could be an issue related to software.
For what it is worth, what method did you use to root?

Hmm, I think it worked. I haven't tested it out for lengthy periods of time but I haven't noticed any pausing anymore! =]
I followed the unroot instructions to return to stock. Although I didn't relock the bootloader.
Then I booted up stock and it seemed like it works fine.
I reinstalled CWM recovery through adb (same as I did the first time) and proceeded to reflash
It seems like the problem is gone now on custom ROM as well. Interestingly enough, if I nandroid restore my old backup, I do get the problem again.
Is there something different between reflashing stock part and wiping from factory/data reset + system partition format + wipe cache + wipe davalik?
Thanks for your help guys! I was sure before that it was hardware since I had the problem on stock w/ root, but thankfully it's not a hardware problem! =]
This morning, when starting my commute to work, I noticed that the S5 wasn't connecting to my BT car stereo. I checked the phone and BT was off. I tapped the icon and it did the slight dimming for a few seconds and then went back to the off state. I opened up BT settings and tapped the slider to turn it on, got the message "Turning on bluetooth", but again, after a few seconds, it returned to the off position.
I'm running the stock ROM, rooted with the hotspot mod, and the restart menu mod.
I tried restarting, powering off and removing battery and restarting, restarting and hitting the BT settings as quickly as possible, but it still will not work. Permissions on /system/vendor/lib/libbt-vendor.so are rw-r--r--, so I don't think it has anything to do with permissions.
I read a thread regarding a different phone and ROM having this problem and they fixed it by flashing a different kernel. Any ideas before I take this route?
EDIT: Just to be sure, I rebooted into recovery and ran fix permissions. No change.
Does anyone have the stock kernel that I can try to flash or Odin? Thought I might give this a try before going with a modded kernel.
Thanks
As much as I hated to do it, a factory reset fixed the problem. Still don't know what actually caused the problem.

Are you going to reflash the mods you were using to see if the problem was the same? Also, you might be able to just make a backup of your system/data/recovery and flash it over so you don't have to factory reset.

I tried the backup, but it brought the problem back as well. Not sure if it was something in the system or days our apps. Still need to do some forensics.
If you flashed off of an SD card, sometimes you can get subtle corruptions? I thought I saw something about it before..

Hi, ive just upgraded to Android 5.0.1 manually (13mb update from 5.0 didnt flash) by flashing each img Individually.
The problem in facing is that my phone no longer thinks it has any storage. Ive tried various different apps and some detect it and others don't. The only thing I have done that might of caused this is recovering my user data, but other than that, everything went fine.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Or does anyone know a fix?
Thanks in advance

I had the same issue, 4 reflashes of the full 5.01 later .... grrrr
I can't say what caused it, I can only attribute it to a an app that was causing it. I had google restoring all my apps at once and each time I let it do that the SD would disappear/unmount.
On the last rebuild I installed apps one at a time and so far it's been all good. If it was an app I don't know which one, I haven't installed absolutely everything I had on originally.
No help at all huh ?
Cheers

I had something like this happen . Are you using 4.4 and 5.0?
This happens quite often. Download a terminal emulator and run "su" (enter) and then "restorecon -FR /data/media/0" (enter) and reboot.

Haven't tried this yet but I wish this solution was around a week ago, I've had to reinstall everything manually, rather than restoring it
Thanks nonetheless

The solution has been around in a thread called "sdcard problems" in general for a long time. Always try to search
