[Q] LG P999 v21e corrupt - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hello XDA community,
I am trying to update my Wind P999 to July 15 baseband so I downloaded the v21e kdz file i found on XDA. However in the installation I am getting and weird corruption error ("Star_model: unable to decode file") which leads me to believe that my kdz file is corrupt. I want you guys to let me know what is the MD5Sum on your kdz file so that I can confirm that this is the case. Or better yet can you can share your v21e KDZ
I found a good kdz but its hosted on megaupload which is down
md5checker for windows located at portableapps website.
Thanks everyone
P.S. I think the corrupt v21e kdz file md5sum is 7574916fbf3746e0b3b73c216d22d219. Can anyone that has flashed baseband confirm or deny this?

Answering my own question
Just to answer my own question in case somebody is wondering. Using this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588895) and comparing the md5sums of the uncorrupted v21E kdzs (tested and updated without a problem ): the correct checksums are either 613e4b4db5489ce9a1f8b49a50e6fb5d or 848a89b0c81c6e391008904ed6230883. Using a v21e kdz with another checksum will likely result in an star_model.dll error (Star_Model (failed to decode the file you specify.)). Hopefully this save somebody a headache.

So to be 100% sure we need to extract wdb and compare baseband files...Thanks for the info
Yes i want to extract the BB..i located all the .ddl files that ther extractor need, but it exit when try to extract the files from .wdb...i know that the BB number and version is the same comparing v18a and v21a, but also the leaked v21a and the official v21a have a differente date, 1 november and 15 november..so i think there is some difference between BB...

Just flash the official kdz and you got it. You aren't going back to froyo anyway. Why would you like to have the baseband separetely? Is there any way to integrate it to a custom rom?

Yes i know that in the official .kdz is included the BB, but if someone like me want the new BB without lose a custom GB rom could find useful the .fls file of the BB...and yes i think that could be integrated on a custom ROM, but the DEV here will develop the future custom rom wioth the official V21A i think...
First:
You cannot extract .wdb file using LGUtils. Nobody know how to extract .wdb.
Second: LGUtils is generally for infineon technology. At the beginning we have .kdz file. Then if we unpack it we have .cab archive. Then the situation becomes complicated.
Infineon tech. have
\dll\IFWD_DownloadDll.dll file
Inf_WebDnld.dll file
Name.txt file
mergeResult.txt file
and some .wdb file.
3GQCT GSM have:
some .dz file and model.dll file
3GQCT CDMA have :
.wdb file and model.dll file
I think we all understood

[TOOL/REDIRECT] LGExtract

Hello LGP920 users, I don't have this phone (I own a 970), but, I'm working in a tool that can help you guys too.
The purpose of the tool is to extract the files .bin / .fls from the .kdz files, to use the tool SmartFlash.
I don't know if this kind of topic (duplicated) is allowed, but, is a tool for "all" lg phones.
For now its really useful for P920 and P970, because we can flash files bin / fls with SmartFlash tool.
Other phones has different file structures...
Check it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24083497
I'm not copying and pasting the text here, because I'm editing the another thread.
Please report any errors there.
Thanks.
PS: Moderators, sorry for anything
Thanks, certainly these tools are useful for developers.

Did anyone tryed to use Smartflash tool with p920? It could work with the right dll files.
I wants to ask you that why I can't to extract the rom of Lgextract
using LGP920.dll extracted wdb instead of renaming i extracted using the original name

Did you tried extract another file? or a kdz?
Your problem seems to be with Microsoft Enhanced Cryptographic Provider.
I will made some changes at the code to handle errors better and provide more details.
You should wait for the next update.

With LGExtract, roms can be prerooted even if the Megatron root exploit is fixed Thanks a lot
Hi guys, going off another thread I didn't find this thread using search so just popping in the search word extractor so the next poor bugger doesn't get flamed for not using search
Tool is great and will help a lot when we get the next rom we can root but has a better baseband

Nice, good to know.
Please check the output files in a hex editor to see if it make sense.
If the file has some headers (boot, recovery, lgdrm, divxkey, fota, system, etc...)

If you can find out, could you post what modem/baseband processor is used in these devices: P920, P925G, P970 ?
This info should be available in the Service/Hidden Menu and in the modem firmware file. Look for "Qualcomm", "Infineon", "x-gold"...

[TUTORIAL] How to extract BIN + FLS from KDZ

Guys, I've seen some people wanting to access BIN roms and/or FLS basebands included in KDZ official roms, and not knowing how to do it.
I've searched the forum, found out how to do it, and decided to make a tutorial for our phone.
Here it goes:
0. Have a "KDZ official rom" file to extract
1. Download attached LGExtract.7z and put the included LGExtract.exe file in the same folder as your kdz
2. Open a Command Prompt
3. Change directory to the folder where you have put the previous files (LGExtract.exe and KDZ file)
4. Run this: LGExtract -kdz V***_00.kdz (use your kdz's name, for example LGExtract -kdz V30A.kdz)
5. Manually extract the CAB file in the same dir (use 7-zip or WinRAR)
6. Run this: LGExtract -wdb V***.wdb LGP920.dll (for example LGExtract -wdb V30A.wdb LGP920.dll)
7. Now you have some files, a few numbered BINs and one FLS)
8. Change directory to BIN folder to manually merge the bin files
9. Run this: copy /b "LGP920_AP[*].bin" "LGP920_AP.bin"
Should output something like this: (THE NUMBER ORDER MUST BE ASCENDING)
LGP920_AP[0].bin
LGP920_AP[1].bin
LGP920_AP[2].bin
LGP920_AP[3].bin
LGP920_AP[4].bin
LGP920_AP[5].bin
1 file(s) copied
10. Now you have your BIN (rom) and your FLS (baseband) files
I like living on the edge and flashing .kdz. hahha
But this is very helpful!
Awesome tut dude.

This is the best way to make things complicated! )) Just use LGP970 Rom Converter!! Put KDZ in same folder as application and run it! On first question press number in order wich is KDZ file, and after extracting on question about CWM recovery or something like that, just hit N on keyboard and you are done.

Yes, it is easy, but when you do this, IMEI is null so you need to fix it.
What is the easiest way to flash kdz files into p920?
Actually, it won't bomb your IMEI - I flashed the modem firmware several times already - it's the fault of CM10's modem RIL, so updating to V21D/E or V28 is usually recommended. No matter how hard you do, you cannot brick the modem unless you flashed obviously wrong modem firmware but if it was from any of O3D ROMs, you won't even lose IMEI. I flashed V21D modem firmware extracted with LG P970 ROM extractor and I didn't even need to touch the modem terminal.

Whell, i used P970 KDZ Extractor for Official V30A p920 rom and I had a IMEI problem. I did this from v21e and v28 and both have IMEI problems after that.
I think KDZ is the safest way.

This is definitely not the reason u had IMEI problem! I never had that problem and i used it xx times on two different phones. U probably downloaded faulty rom or have windows problem and it didn`t unpack properly. I flashed V28e and V30a with SmartFlash after unpacking KDZ and my phone works normally.
See? The only way to grenade your IMEI is by flashing wrong modem firmware or corrupted one. Thus, repeating what I said, no matter how hard you do, you won't lose your IMEI.

Guys, there have been multiple reported cases of lost imeis when flashing basebands (fls), it has happened to me twice.
Flashing kdzs doesn't create that problem, at least I've never read such a case.

I think some CPUs work better with one or the other. I have to ise this janky Netbook that has something like Windows 7 but its like Windows ultimate or somethn like that. I have tried so many times to flash KDZs properly and it just doesn't work for me and the one time I did get the tools to work I completely broke my network and had to format my CPU. Flashtool however works flawlessly for me and I have never had problems; then again I have everything installed correctly too which makes a huge difference. I had an imei issue once back in the ported SU760 days but I'm pretty sure a factory reset and a fresh base and flash fixed that. Its just what works for you.

Hi daniel.mota,
Your LGExtract.exe from LGExtract-0.2.1.7z works great and wrote an easy to follow tutorial. Thank you.
But, what can I do about the .bin and .fls file? I mean what is the next meaningful step I can take?

Hy guys, I've got a problem... LGExtract extracts the cab as well and this one extracts a wdb, a wdh and the dll.
When I try to extract the wdb it extracts a file *.tot how to go through this??

Rename file *.tot to *.bin.
Guys, so sorry for the tricky question, I've read in a Spanish forum that this tool is only going to work for Firmwares not bigger than 1gb, can you please confirm this info? or maybe sharing your experiences on using this with a big KDZ? Thanks a lot in advance

Has somebody tried it?
Hi guys, not work for me & with error.
Is it applied for Lollipop, MM, and Nougat
Dear Fahad!
Are the tot files for LP, MM or N version?
Guys!
This is a lie. The google drive link posted in the description of the youtube video referred in the OP contains folder names and filenames of V10 model but the TOT files contained therein are of LG G4 models. You can check yourself by searching xVLG in the TOT files using any hex editor.
And that is also why the LGUP says that its an invalid TOT file.

KDZ structure -- mapping it out

I didn't realize just how much was still unknown about the KDZ structure. In order to use the SDcard with pub file method to root, we are going to have to completely document the KDZ structure in order to make a completely valid KDZ.
This isn't a KDZ that will be flashable with LG UP since the SIGN payload will be signed with our private key. However, the rest of the KDZ has to be 100% valid.
If you have links to any existing documentation, please post them ... even if they are to old format KDZs.
-- Brian
I imagine you've already seen this, but if not: https://github.com/ehem/kdztools/wiki/KDZ-File-Format-Detail
There doesn't seem to be many attempts to reverse the format. Many people seem to rely on LG's internal tool "UpTextEx" to generate KDZ files.
I'll let you know if I find anything more useful.
Edit: "UpTestEx", sorry typo.
