[Q] Ringtone - Verizon Droid Charge

Every time i get a call my ringtone starts off very low and then gets loud? why does it start off low and is this fixable?

I think this is just a bug with gingerbread and I don't believe there is anyway to fix it. Trust me it annoys me too! Lol
This and sometimes it will play my default ringtone when i have an individual ringtone set for someone.

I don't think it's a bug, but by design, it started out low and increasing louder so you don't jump when someone calls and It give me a chance to stop the call before the tone is too loud. For me I like this.

Not a bug. Called ascending ringer the vibrant is like that as well. I know there is a way to disable but involves Dev work. which is lacking in these forums

LOL - I suppose the gauntlet has been thrown. When I get to updating tweakstock it'll be an option end-users have as to whether or not they want that enabled/disabled.

This is an example of people not understanding what issues are. I had to stop your video when I saw it.
The keyboard lags in the MESSAGING app. Not anywhere else. Any SMS client with any keyboard will have the lag. To repeat, the actual bug is "lags when typing text messages." So no, people aren't smoking crack. Just you and several others don't seem to understand the actual issue.
Not trying to dog you out, just misinformation is one of my pet peeves.

Strange... I use handcent and better keyboard fully customized and I have no lag on this or stock keyboard in messaging or any app for that matter
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Well if using handcent fixes the lag, then I stand corrected. I used the default keyboard, gingerbread keyboard from the market, swype, default SMS app and go SMS. All combinations produced the lag after a bit of texting, not just just one sentence.
If you can type out a paragraph using handcent without it slowing down then I will shut up. And thank you for finding a workaround.

Not doubting what u have had happen with your phone but I would give handcent a shot..
I use gingerbread and better keyboard and haven't had any lag whatsoever except when I type 4page ttext it converts to mms but u can change that setting
usually I don't use handcent but I grew tired of go and just like trying different apps
I am curious to now if this helps u at all so please post your results

First off download or make a custom sound of your choice but, make sure that it's under 2 seconds long & remame it to TW_Touch.ogg Then drag it to your SD card but also make sure your phone is rooted and download (Root Explorer). Once you got Root explorer downloaded open it and go to sdcard & find the sound you wanna use & hold & select copy. Go back once then go to System/media/audio/ui. The default sound you wanna replace is TW_Touch.ogg. Make sure the mount is R/O & just paste & your good to go. Now every time you make a screen selection the sound you chose will be heard. Hope this helps

Notification sounds don't shut off

Anyone else have this problem? Can't imagine I'm missing a setting.... Mute generally means mute.
According the this screen shot all sound should be off, correct. Dumb question but I want to make sure I'm not missing something.

Okay, sounds will not shut off no matter which method I try. Any ideas? Factory reset my week old phone
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Audio manager from the play store effectively shuts the sound off if anyone else has this problem.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Samsung wants me to send the phone in to fix this but I'm not sure being without a phone for a week or more is worth. Plus, I'm pretty sure if I install a custom ROM this problem will disappear. I'm frustrated, this is a stupid easy problem to fix (with an app) but a BRAND NEW phone should not have this problem to begin with. I wonder if I flashed the stock rom on top of the stock rom (lol) if that would work? Only one other person has this problem?
factory reset should fix your problem.

As a workaround you can choose "Silent" as your Notification sound.
If you only need this functionality at work for example look at Llama that will allow you to configure it very easy.

I've tried Llama before but really didn't look into it too far. Where I work is only about 3 miles from my house so I'm bouncing off the same tower in both places..... Did not work too well with Llama. Can someone check if there volume shows the same as mine when set on mute? The only thing muting is the ring tone. Just curious...

I see the same thing if I set the phone for Silent mode.
There's all different notification sound settings in this phone, I've noticed - my email accounts have their own notification settings per account, messaging has its setting, etc.
Maybe Silent mode primarily silences ringtones and doesn't prevent separate apps from making sounds? Which types of notifications continue to make sounds?
- ooofest
All of them. Anything not set to silent (email, text, messaging, etc) makes a audible notification when the phone is set on mute. Also, when my phone is set on vibrate I also have audible notifications.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
From the User Manual, pg 124:
Use Silent modes to temporarily silence the sounds your
phone makes, except for media playback and alarms, or
replace them with vibration.

So, it doesn't seem to claim affecting your sounds beyond the ringer and maybe keypad noises or similar. Working as designed, it seems (not that I agree with their design, in this case).
- ooofest
To me that means it should silence notifications since it's not "media" or "alarm"? I'm just going to buy sound manager since it has more options anyway..... $2.99 to end my frustration with this

I would classify "alarm" as notifications, in trying to interpret their jargon for the context given.
Yeah, an app which can configure sounds across all your apps and settings seems best, here.

Appreciate you looking that up in the manual. I actually downloaded it after your post . I bought the app and set my work and mute profiles... Nice app. I know this is stupid thing to worry about but it gets frustrating when I get woke up or a notification goes off during a meeting. Silent on the sound manager app silences everything.

Notifications through Headphones

I really hate that when i have headphones in, or speakers, the phone still makes the sound for a notification.
I found this tasker script that SHOULD do it, but i can't get it to work.
Anybody smarter than me wanna help me get it to work?

Try putting the phone on vibrate lol
If you have a kernel that supports Voodoo Sound, what you can do is install the Voodoo Sound app and enable the "Don't interrupt music" setting. That setting puts your phone on silent whenever you have headphones plugged in. Super convenient

i want to have headphones or a speaker in

Ok, so it sounds like this might make for a neat libaudio/SGS4GParts hack for this kind of functionality.
File an enhancement bug here.

You're right. It is probably something super easy.
But, I am unemployed. I have a wife and daughter, and limited time to even look at my sgs4g.
When I do stuff, I get a bunch done in a little time frame. Probably about 5 hours a week.
The rest of the time, I'm trying to get a job, interviewing, dealing with rejection, taking my daughter to the playground, figuring out how I'm going to pay my bigger bills, etc...
You could always bone up and learn some C and go look at the wm8994 driver and libaudio in the device tree and fix it yourself. I know hampsterblade did it once, and we happily merged his change!

Can themes change ringtones and notification sounds?

Hey guys, I really need help... I'm scared for my phones life right now... I'm running aokp now and it's great. Everything is running perfectly until yesterday. Somehow my notification sound turned into that awful tri-tone sound from the iPhone (that's the only reason its awful) and the ringtone changed into that nasty Maramba tone. I've changed themes a few times so the only explanation is themes change sounds or my phone is turning into an iPhone. D: if this is the case there's only one thing to do, burn the phone then smash it by running it over in my truck.

From what I was aware of no because the theming normally just deals with icons and looks nothing every really with sound files
This is where it should be since it pertains to themes

Yes it can. Cm10 uses a cyanogen tone whereas stock at&t uses firefly or something like that. That's not to say it always does, but yes it can.
