hI GUYZ ,
i wanted to know abt playing videos ,
i can play videos upto 640x480 on my galaxy fit with mx vdeo plaer w
i wanted to know that can i play 720x480 videos on galaxy fit and 480x720 vodeos wats the difference b/w both
And can i play hd videos...
yes you can play those videos but they'll probably lag a bit coz g-fit lags a hardware accelerator.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/720p
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/480p
Yes you can play 720*480 videos smoothly om Mx video player, and when you convert the video using Kies it converts it to 720*480 @ approx 2 mbps bitrate. Which is very good quality for mobile.
Devs i wanted to ask that why cant our galaxy fit record hd videos *like 480p* as other mobiles which have same processor i.e 600mhz and equal 5mp camera can (mobiles like htc wilfire s and some lg androids).
Please developers i request you to find out a way through which we can record 480p hd videos with our precious 5mp camera of galaxy fit which presently does nothing. Is there any ROM which enables us to record hd videos with phonez camera or something like that?!! Plz Devs you are amazing.. Plz help me out ... I eagerly need solution to this.... Help

480 X 640 is considered as 480p.
And 480p is not hd, 720p is hd, and 1080p is full hd..
You can't record hd videos with fit , but you can record 480p videos.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Galaxy Fit vs Galaxy W
---------- Post added at 05:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:45 PM ----------
In order to record 30fps on 720p you need at least 512mb of ram.
---------- Post added at 05:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:46 PM ----------
moreover fit has 65k colours & 600mhz processor compared to 16m colours & 1.7Ghz processor.
i think 480p means 854x480. thanks
Dude Our fit can play 800x480 videos with stock player.......
Enjoy.........

then I have made changes in media_profiles.xml file.
Code:
<EncoderProfile quality="1080p" fileFormat="mp4" duration="30">
<Video codec="h264"
bitRate="12000000"
width="1920"
height="1080"
frameRate="30" />
<Audio codec="aac"
bitRate="96000"
sampleRate="48000"
channels="1" />
</EncoderProfile>
But stuck in bootloop. anybody can give suggestion..??
I googled it and there are sensors like OV5690 which is a 5mp sensor capable of video recording 1080p at 30 fps
http://www.google.co.in/search?client=chrome-mobile&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8&q=OV5690
Maybe its to do with the support of the sensor?

Ok then. I found that as venketraman said that Galaxy Nexus can capture the Full HD video from 5MP camera bt at 24Fps. Means if possible then our can. I think sensor can play a role in it but not 100%. let see changing it again with 24FPS.
Edit: I did changes in Media xml file but camera FC after selecting camcoder record button. Here is the logcat & Media_profile.xml file which I have changed.
Please lookinto it if possible.
If the sensor or CPU or both are not capable of Recording FullHD video, we cant!
We can't even play 1080p Video, let alone capture it!

buddy that right that we can't play it but what if we can able to capture & then play also..?
If other device are capable of then why not ours.?
May be... need to study the camera sensor.. but remember we don't have source for camera... so it will be difficult....

I have already tried it. Patched the camera firmware. Will try again with some other ideas. Actually the lack of NEON instructions is a problem, will see.

I may not have enough knowledge about coding but as far as i have seen, not all mobiles specified as 5mp arent same.. pixel clarity wil be diff in every fone.. jus because galaxy nexus support 1080p videos we cant expect galaxy r to support too.. fps capability too varies.. some support oly 24fps and most have 30fps.. i hv heard even h/w acceleration matters.. i think Tegra2 chipset can support 1080p.. Anyways good luck wit it guys..

I think we should have the hw capability since LG O2X is having 1080p video playback @ 24 fps. It has the same cpu and gpu.. Camera sensor is different..
From my CM10 powered galaxy R
Yes buddy. BTW nexus can record 1080p ar 24fps. So its clear the if we can do it, then that might b at 24fps.

yes.. even optimus 3d has 5mp camera ..
it records at full hd at 24 fps..
so try guys.. alllllllllllllllllllllll the best:good::good::good::good::good:
I dnt think its possible and even if its tweaked to record so, it may not luk gud as the sensor size is less.like a kind of cropped or zoomed video...This im telling with respect to photography..

This is the specifications of the Tegra2. I think our R is a bit cutted..
http://www.nvidia.com/object/tegra-superchip.html
The Tegra 2 can record Full hd... I don't know if the camera sensor can.

why SO..?? its clearly showing that Tegra 2 can play 1080P video..
Now, I have installed LGcamera PRO, which has option of FULL HD recording but when I click on recording it says, Failed to record. A file is being created of 0 Bytes. Means If we can decode it then can have full HD recording..??

If you want to record 480p videos with your Galaxy Y :
1- Download Then flash it via CWM

Video resolution : 640 x 480
Video encoder : H.264
Video bitrate : 3/4/5 your choise
Video framerate : 30

All he did was modify the media_profiles.xml to include the 480p resolution... Works with LgCamera from the store
Now if only someone could develop a way to play x264 mp4 encoded video without the video playing in slow motion I'd be impressed
So you stole the sun!
Maroc once tried to introduce 720p, in our camera.
We must have 720p decoding first
we can even get 1080p
I think I'll try to do it after finishing Paranoid ROM project (It'll be integrated in it)

Hd video playback on adreno 200 is not supported(except nexus).
Thoughts: when crappy broad com chip on n8 could play HD videos at high frame rates why not android devices????

Why do you want to play HD videos on a phone if you have a 320*480 touchscreen. Many computers can't play 720p videos and you want to do this with your phone? Samsung GT-S7500 doesn't have a high quality GPU but a medium quality is very good for me.
