[Q] Xoom MZ604 Rom questions - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, Would you please tell me what is the different of the Eos ICS 1.0.0 Rom and ICS 4.0.3 Wingray MZ604 Nightlies Rom?
I'm a new user of the tablet, would you suggest me which rom is best for me to install?
Thanks in advise.

Currently the two are pretty much the same.
I would reccomend using 1.0.0

i used the nightly´s till 1.0 was released
flashed 1.0 and i am absolute happy with my xoom everything works great
if u don´t want to flash every night or often just take eos ics 1.0

Tiamat Rom 2.0 Manta Ray is great. For me, stock rom is boring. With Tiamat you get all the functions stock 3.2 still doesn't have.
If so could u help me to have Tiamat rom on mine? I think i have the stock rom rooted now.. .not sure tho cuz i dont know much about this stuff.. step by step guidance will be very helpful, thanks alot
You do need to know whether you are rooted and what rom you are currently running. This information will determine what method you use to flash the Tiamat rom.Have you tested to see if you have root? That will make things easier.
thanks okantomi for your advice, the guy who sold this xoom to me told me it's rooted. i even downloaded a few apk apps and they work fine. i am sure it's rooted but i don't know what type of rom its running. could you be able to tell what rom it's running by looking at the info? thanks..Here is info on my xoom

[Q][NOOB]Advice on Roms

Hi,
I'm not a noob in rooting and using customized ROMs on Android but I AM a noob with the TF101. I have tried to work through some of the information provided in the different topics and I am still trying to wrap my head around stuff like ICS, AOKP, cornerstone and whatnot.
What I am trying to find is a slim, stable and reasonable fast ROM that cleans out most of the Asus bloatware. WIFI connectivity is important to me, but 3G is not.
Can anybody (pretty please) recommend a reliable ROM that would be a good point to start with. It would just be a lot easier to work my way through the details if I had a ROM to start with.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks
Henning

Revolver and ARHD are modified from stock ROM from ASUS. CM9 and AOKP are based on AOSP with modification to work on Transformer.
If you are migrating from stock ROM, ARHD or Revolver will give you a similar feel, they are both good ROM to start with. I am currently using ARHD.
Thank you for the help tingtan. (* searches forum for an explanation of "AOSP" *). I am assuming ARHD is short for Revolution HD?
A lot of the newbie guides point to "Prime" ROMs of various versions (like the "Asus Reference Thread" is pointing to Prime V1.4). Anything worth mentioning about those?
Also, there is a lot of talk if random reboots on ICS, so would it be more advisable to pick for example a non-ICS ARHD?

Yes, ARHD is Android Revolution HD. Prime has not been updated for a long time, last update was Nov 12, 2011, for custom ROM, it means the author is not maintaining it anymore.
ICS has some problems, app compatibility, battery drain, random reboots. I like to try new stuff (have several phones and tablets), so not a problem for me. Will get stable over time.
If you want a stable version, use Gingerbread (Android version 3.2), Prime, Revolver and ARHD are all stable and fast ROM. Another added bonus for Gingerbread is you can use OC/UV kernel.
You can monitor if a ROM is active and stable, read the forum in:

Again tingtan, thanks for your reply. I think I find my way from here
Im trying KRAKD now. So far it seems quite nice.
Also tingtan, 3.x is called Honeycomb , Gingerbread is 2.3

Oops! Thanks for clearing up my error. Guess I getting old
I tried Revolver, ARHD and KRAKD. Have been using KRAKD before upgrading to ICS, tried AOKP for couple of days before settle down on ARHD 3.1.0.
Yes, KRAKD has been a nice ROM, hangs several times a week recently (maybe not ROM related), that is why I have decided to upgrade to ICS.
I actually got spoiled with ICS after having it for one day (official OTA), so I just had to change to an ICS rom. I went with team EOS build 12 and so far its been quite good.

[Q] Where to download older Revolution rom v2.3.2 ?

Wondering if there's still websites hosting older releases of Revolution ?
I last flashed my tf with v2.2 and thinking that its at long last time for me to
upgrade to v3.1, but just in case I would like the option of downgrading to the last honeycomb version afaik v2.3.2 if i find any of the ics quirks bothersome

There are some very nice and stable ICS ROMs for the A501. There is also a stable, but not quite complete Jelly Bean ROM which I am running. (JB 4.1.2) The two best places to get an ICS ROM and support is Moscow Desire's Evil Alex ROM (hosted on xda), which I understand is based on the stock Acer ICS ROM... however, you will need to upgrade your bootloader to an ICS bootloader. That can be scary for someone new to flashing. An alternative is TegraOwner's ROMs built by Thor and Digitex, which can run with your current Honeycomb bootloader or a custome ICS bootloader, if you wish.
I used to ron Moscow Desire's 3.2 ROM which was very nice. I never have tried his ICS ROMs. I pretty much stick with the TegraOwner's ROMs now because they are well fast, feature packed, stable, and well supported. If you want to run one of Thor's ROMs, you will need to upgrade your CWM Recovery to Touch Recovery v1.7.3. You can find this and all of Thor's stuff on the TegraOwner's site, as well as a lot of support in the forums at forums.tegraowners.com
The final and most stable ICS ROM for the Acer A500/A501 is the TegraOwners ICS v170. If you would like the newer Jelly Bean ROM based on CyanogenMod 10 and Thor and Digitex custom kernel, you can it and support here: forum.tegraowners.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=680
(You'll have to copy/paste the links into your browser since xda is preventing me from creating links due to my low post count)
The Jelly Bean ROM is real fast and stable. They are still working on gps, hdmi, and a few smaller issues. They will get them ironed out soon. Hope this helps.

Need 4.1.2 overclocked : CM10 problems ?

Hello,
I currently use the official 4.1.2 unrooted on my Wingray. I want now to overclock my Xoom, and if I understood well, I need to change my kernel.
So I checked the CM10 nighly thread and I saw there many people reporting problems with the Play store reporting softwares incompatibilities ...
Is this incompatibility problem only on Stingray or also on Wingray ?
Is the CM10.1 out for the Xoom and does it still have market incompatibility issue ?
Where can I get the CM10 (or 10.1) STABLE version ? I could only find the nightly release on XDA.
I am also interested in feedbacks from people gone from official 4.1.2 to CM10 release, I am very concerned by 2D fluidity (I don't care about 3D games) and I would like to know if CM10 when overclocked shows real fluidity improvements.
Thanks !
Here is a link to a cm10 stable build. Zig has done quite a bit of cool work to it. Cm10 had a few issues I didn't like. I got the actual cm10 ROM from goo manager and the main issues I had were no lock screen flip and volume controls don't flip with tablet. Check it out if you like.
