[Q] does xoom has wifi direct? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I have a galaxy tab10.1, and it has a feature called wifi direct which is super useful,
Its like Bluetooth, but with wifi speed, I'm talking about 1-2MBps here.
I wonder if this wifi direct feature is Samsung galaxy specific.
Can you guys, zoom owners check in your wifi settings to see whether you guys have the wifi direct settings.
Zoom is upgraded to ics already right?
Does ics has this feature?
There is a leak ics for my tab, if the wifi direct is there, I'm considering flashing it.
Please let me know. Thanks.

Never heard of Wifi direct until I looked at my wife's galaxy S II and Tab 10.1.
Its not on the xoom so I'm assuming its a Samsung thing.

Even on ics?
Aww man.....
I just flash my galaxy tab10.1 to the leaked ics build,
Its certainly faster and smoother.
Sadly the wifi direct feature is not working.
The option is there, but not working.:-(

There is wifi direct in Team EOS ICS 4.0.3 Wingray MZ604 NIGHTLIES. I just checked this on my Xoom with build 78 and it is here.

[JB] Team EOS 3 wifi direct

Hello
Please wifi direct retrofit?
So umm what is your question?
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda app-developers app
Wifi direct is no longer available since the team eos Rom jb 3g
If this function come under even jb?
sorry for my bab english
Same here
Hello everybody,
I am wondering the same. Wifi direct seems to be the popular functionality these times, especially with the arrival of Miracast. Moreover I found information which say the xoom does not support this feature, while some video on youtube shows a guy displaying the screen of his xoom on a TV wirelessly... I never used the wifi direct option on ICS, but I remember it was possible to enable it, while I can't find it today on my xoom with Jelly bean. I tried codename 3.6.6 after team eos 3, but result is the same. Would you mind explaining to the noob I am why such a good option disappeared from the system as it is becoming kinda the standard with Miracast?
Thank you all for your patience

Any news
Long time no up this topic, and team EOS moves forward with the 4.2 JB nightly builds... I tested build 142, still no wifi direct option... Isn't android 4.2 supposed to bring native miracast support (which is, as far as I understand, a standard based on wifi direct protocol) ?

HDMI out functionality, which ROM?

Hi,
Can somebody help me pointing out ROMS where the HDMI out functionality works on the 7.7? I've seen posts where people claim only stock rom would do that, but this seems to be not true for every other Android device I have. I have used CM10 on the Tab 10.1 (CM10 = NOT BLOODY STOCK) and HDMI works wonders, it's great to play digital quality files with my DA converter. But I'd like to use my 7.7.
Any tips? The one I'm using now doesn't work, was the first ICS issued months ago. I thought it would be stockish...now do I have to go back to honeycomb? Sure I hope not.
Any pointers?
Thanks!
P6800 or P6810 ?
HDMI Out works as released by Samsung in my P6810 ICS ROM. Read post #3 in my thread....

NFC Working?

Has anyone be able to get NFC working? I tried (Slim Bean 3.0) to use it with my cousin (S2 Hercules T-Mobile, custom ROM liquid smooth r7) and had no luck. Didnt hear the sound or anything. We both had it enabled and everything. Any suggestions?
Bought some NFC tags tonight and programmed a few and they work like a charm. I'm on SlimBean 2.8 so I would imagine it would work with 3.0

I got Beam working last night with my mom's GS3 (after updating her to 4.1.1 via ota update from t-mobile), that's using NFC, so not sure if that helps.

Mine works perfectly when sending files to my GF's GS3. I tested both pics and small HD clips. Tested on PA 2.54 and 2.99 by gs2usr. It was a bit difficult for her to send files to my device though, but she probably wasn't doing it properly.

It works for me. I'm running official Cyanogenmod. I exchanged files with my friend who has a Galaxy Nexus and there were no problems.
I am on Slim Bean 3.0 and I can verify that it is working. I opened a photo in my gallery, touched the back of my wife's GSIII, and I was prompted to tap to start sending. The large photo took a few seconds, but she received it successfully. The only strange error I got (after the beam) was that my DSP Manager stopped working. Strange, as I have never touched the DSP settings.
With NFC working now is there a way to use Google wallet or any other type of wallet like that?

LiquidSmooth 2.7

Haven't seen anyone post anything about LiquidSmooth, but wanted to let everyone know it's available via Goo. Been running it for almost 24 hours and it seems very snappy and stable, no issues to speak of. Its an AOSP ROM for anyone who doesn't know, so you'll need gapps. I'm not affiliated with them in any way and all credit goes to the LiquidSmooth developers. Just a fan of the ROM!
If this post isn't allowed, just lock it. Or use as discussion about LiquidSmooth since there isn't one for s4...

Your in the right area, everyone is cool, I hope. Does bluetooth work consistently? and I had drop calls right in the middle of a call, random, but there. The rom rocks actually, but those are major bugs to me.
I was just about to post about this. Downloading the ATT build as we speak. Not sure why they haven't made a thread yet but have our carrier build made. Any way, it's nice to add to the ROM selection around here. I was checking out other carrier's ROMs, saw liquid and jflteatt on their goo.... *Profit*

Awesome!
LiquidSmooth is VERY similar to SlimBean feature wise, except for they run a normal DPI out of the box.
I was always switching between these two on my S3.

Don't really use Bluetooth, don't even have anything to test around with either. I'm hoping that when the 'Google Edition' is released that all the feature drivers gets ironed out for AOSP. Camera, BT, GPS, have always been janky with TouchWiz phones on AOSP.

I've been running this ROM for three days? now on my Galaxy S3.
Smooth, fast and stable. No issues that I've found yet. Though, it does seem to take a while for my phone to charge. Battery life is excellent though. Love Halo being added to it as well. Also Halo settings kinda stick... but nothing major.
Great ROM.

Is the GPS in 2.7 not working? I haven't found any dev notes and unfortunately search isn't working right now. I just flashed 2.7 last night and noticed today that I still don't have GPS signal even after driving around in my jeep with the top off.

Thanks for the post. I love LiquidSmooth too. Weird that it's 'hidden'. I'm really waiting out the "Google Edition" ROM. Also find it odd that there not much talk about it considering the phones get released tomorrow. Anyone have any info?

[Q] Bluetooh & ROM

Hi guys,
I just got a car with bluetooth but it is not playing nice with my SIII. Other peoples' phones work fine, so I am guessing that it is the ROM I am using.
Anyone have any suggestions for a ROM that works well with bluetooth in cars? Currently I am using the latest version of SlimKat.
Thanks!

Yeah pretty much any stock rom will work as expected. I use to HATE touch wiz but after being stranded on 4.3 I realized I have had zero issues in the past six months and with a different launcher I have no complaints.
Thanks guys - I'll start off with Wicked Sensations and then go stock if that still doesn't solve the issue.
I'll report back on how it works.
