[Q]Darktremor A2SD not working on HTC ChaCha! - HTC ChaCha

Hi there,
I'm trying to use A2SD, since the HTC ChaCha has a ridiculously small amount of internal storage... After following the instructions thoroughly (Partitioned with MiniTool Partition Wizard, 1 partition Fat32, 1 partition EXT2 of 1024MB and then i flashed the A2SD zip through the CWM Recovery)
I installed Quick System Info Pro to check whether it's working. But the A2SD shows "no information available". My Application Manager tells me I only have 86MB left (I haven't installed much, yet, because I want A2SD to work first)
So after searching the internet for I few hours, I couldn't find anything like my problem. I tried the a2sd diskspace command in terminal, which gave me the errors "Darktremor Apps2SD may not have ran during boot. Cannot read a2sd.mountpoint" and "SD Card not mounted".
I can access my SD card with no problems at all. What's going on?
Can somebody help me? T.I.A.!

As far as I know the SD partitions only work if you create them with CWM. I'm pretty sure there was someone else posting a similar problem with a partition created using linux.
Try partitioning with CWM and check if that works.

I've tried partitioning via CWM before, but A2SD didn't work. Therefore I tried using MiniTool...
Well, did the whole thing over. Partitioned via CWM. Flashed A2SD zip again.
QSI: "A2SD-storage: No info available"
I ran a2sd diskspace in terminal again. This time I get the errors "No a2sd.swap environment variable found" and "Darktremor Apps2SD may not have ran during boot. Cannot read a2sd.mountpoint"
If I try a2sd reinstall i get the "DarkTremor Apps2SD may not have ran..." and "No SD mounted"

Darktremor A2SD working on HTC ChaCha but only for ext2
I dnt knw reason but i tried ext3 it dsnt work..(Partitioned with MiniTool Partition Wizard)..but when i tried ext2 it worked again Partitioned with MiniTool Partition Wizard...
but in command a2sd partlist it shows that my rom support ext2 and ext3 but dsnt support ext4.
But actually it is not supporting ext3 as well..

Doesn't CWM make a partition as EXT2 by default?

NO

No only make partition as EXT3 by default.
i'm using latest version of CWM 5.0.2.8..

Anyway.
First I partitioned with MiniTool 1 Fat32 and 1 Ext2. Didn't work.
The second time with CWM partition Ext3 it still won't work.
Anyone?

if ext2 is found during installation it will work without do anything
to check if it works type a2sd check
if ext2 is created after install type a2sd check then a2sd reinstall
(execute using adb shell ex. adb shell a2sd check)

Nope, didn't work. Maybe it's because i was using the stock rom, and the rom might refuse.
I installed CM7 now, but it's not really satisfying... I JUST WANT MY CHACHA WITH MORE THAN 150MB SPACE.
Sent from my HTC ChaCha A810e using XDA App

try to create ext2 partition after installation. because during installation CWM by default format SD ext partition and convert ext2 partition to ext3 partition (you select option to format SD ext or not but it 'll format SD ext partition during ROM installation). you can check it in (Mini Tool Partition Wizard) it 'll show 2nd partition as ext3 after ROM installation .. So try to convert ext3 to ext2(Mini Tool Partition Wizard) after ROM installation then open terminal in your mobile or use adb shell enter command a2sd check then a2sd reinstall.. i had same problem but solved it by this method now its working perfectly..

I think stock ROM does not support ext2 partition. but custom ROM are available that based on stock ROM and support a2sd and ext2 or ext3 partitions.
Can anybody confirms that Does stock rom support EXT2 partition.?

That's a negative. Stock ROM does not have support for extended partitions at all.
Latest SuperOSR released has an updated kernel which includes ext partitions support.

I'm using a modified stock ROM (removed a few useless APKs). On one ChaCha I have Link2SD working with an EXT3 partition, but with another it refuses to work.
The software version I'm using is 1.57 (the HTCdev one). Does this means that this version supports EXT2/3?

Valid and working properly on latest SuperOSR build. Screenshot attached.

its not about ROM but kernel and official htc kernel only support ext2. no supprt for ext3 and ext4

To enable a2sd, after flashing the ROM go to market & download terminal emulator.
Follow instruction below:
Key in:
su
a2sd check
a2sd reinstall
Phone will reboot once.
su
a2sd check
a2sd zipalign
a2sd cachesd
Phone will reboot again & woot! app2sd+ enabled
If you facing problem for a2sd not detect the ext partition was ext4 but not ext2/ext3, after flashing ROM please re-partition your ext again. This should fix the issue. <<< hope this solve your issue.

Yes! I'd like to know! Because the stupid unstable CM7 is driving me crazy! I don't know what irritates me more, the lack of storage or the lack of a proper working phone...

How is CM unstable? What do you mean by that? Do you have any problems with it? FC's?

* Camera doensn't work, I know about the issue of the front camera, not working, but rear one doesn't work either.... (And no other camera app will...)
* No longer WiFi tethering HotSpot.
* Facebook App keeps signing out
* My Gmail no longer syncs (and since I can't delete my gmail account to add it again, i can't do anything about it)

1) Up until now you are the only one who reports rear camera not working.
2) There are apps for Wi-Fi tethering.
3) Facebook App - Not using it, unable to find out if the ROM is the issue or other factors.
4) Same as 1) - Have you tried a factory data reset?! That deletes your gmail account.

Well, there you have my point. I don't want to factory reset it every time it doesn't work well... And there is a status bar widget for WiFi tethering, but I can't configure it...
Oh! And I remebered another weird thing. When my phone turns off due low battery, and I charge it. I can't turn the phone on. The LED turn on, orange. And if I disconnect the charger, the LED stays on, and the phone doesn't do anything. I have to remove the battery to be able to turn on my phone...
Edit:
Sorry for being a bit harsh about CM7 not working well and all. Of course I want to put some effort in it to make it work right. It's just... Well I want a super-duper-brilliant working phone! I'm just one lucky cookie to be a trouble shooter, when it comes to being the one GETTING the troubles! I hope you can do something with those issues, let me know if you need more info or logs or whatever!

Update on Beta 4
It seems I'm getting mixed results with these betas. I'm not sure why this is occurring, some people have been able to get this working right while others have had a hard time with it.
Currently, I'm rebuilding the entire program. This takes a while because I have to figure out how to pack all these options into the program but make it small enough to where it will run correctly.
I will say that some of the beta features are coming back out...one of them is the search for a partition code. I suspect that code may be leading me into issues with certain platforms, so I'm going back to the 2.7.5.2 method of mounting (mmcblk0p2 or mmcblk1p2).
Also, parts of the code will use Busybox Ash (the only code that won't will be starta2sd, which will still use Bash for the time being). The startup code will definitely use Busybox Ash.
Until then, here are the links to the the last two betas and the last official release:
Version 2.7.5.3 Beta 04 - http://www.darktremor.info/files/a2sd/dtapps2sd-2.7.5.3-beta04-signed.zip

Beta 04 took longer than I expected to release. I have done major changes to the code:
1. New commands: convert-ext4 - This will convert your EXT3 partition into EXT4. Just a friendly reminder on this command: Not every rom supports EXT4, so it is possible to go into a boot loop if you switch roms. Use with caution.
2. Reworked convert-ext3 (convert-ext4 gets similar code)...now a flag file is set before the reboot (no conversion is done before the reboot). At load time, the conversion is performed. This takes longer in the reboot process and you may think your phone has locked up...wait about five minutes before doing anything with the phone.
3. Repair is rebuilt...now it uses existing commands to repair the setup (reinstall, remove, cachesd, cachepart, nocache, datasd, nodata). Definitely shrinks the code.
4. Added fix_permissions program to the package. This may help with Superuser issues when using the datasd feature. It is used in reinstall, remove, datasd and nodata.
5. a2sd install is back!!! Both a2sd install and a2sd reinstall do the exact same thing.
6. Dalvik heap code has been shrunk and now creates a file called dalvikheap. Actually, the code has been doing this all along (since about 2.7.5.2, I think), but I never put the code in to use the file.
7. Low Memory Killer code has also been shrunk and uses a file caled dtset_lowmem to set the low memory killer parameter.
8. Replaced Busybox PS function with Toolbox PS. The issue with Busybox PS is that it gives a false reading when I look for android.process.acore (which is the main program when the GUI starts up). If that is present, the program thinks you are trying to run Darktremor without any command line parameters. This was because Busybox would report the process was there when, in reality, it wasn't (validated this when my phone was boot looping.) Toolbox's PS reports the correct setting. This should fix the bootlooping issues some people are experiencing.
9. New commands: usedtbusybox and usedefaultbusybox - these commands may help in diagnosing issues that is may be related to the native Busybox on your rom. a2sd usedtbusybox will use the Busybox that is packaged with Darktremor. a2sd usedefaultbusybox will turn back on the scan behavior of the program introduced in Beta 03.
10. Support for Darktremor Apps2SD version 2.7 and earlier has been discontinued. To upgrade correctly from one of those versions, use version 2.7.5.3 Beta 03b or earlier.
11. Finally fixed stalled boot issues (or at least my tests with several roms says so.)
See the change log for additional details.
You will notice that if the program runs repair and finds a problem, it will correct the issue and reboot. You will see a second reboot when the dalvik-cache clears (this is to fix timing issues with CyanogenMod...I can't control that startup as well as I can other roms). This only happens if repair is ran or you flash a new rom (as repair will realign all data). If you are upgrading from a previous version of Darktremor, you should not see the reboots.

This is Darktremor Apps2SD, a multipurpose program that primarily allows a user to execute applications created for the Android OS on their Secure Digital card (with the proper setup...more on that later). But, Darktremor Apps2SD is all about stability. The goal is to be able for all users of the Android OS to be able to take advantage of a method to run their applications from a secure digital card.
But just because the Darktremor Apps2SD is all about stability, doesn't mean it isn't packed with features:
- Move applications (both free and paid) to the Secure Digital card.
- Move Dalvik Cache to run either from your Secure Digital card or from your cache partition and clears the cache on demand.
- Boot Loop Protection: prevents the phone from boot looping in the event the SD card could not be mounted.
- Dalvik JIT for faster performance on Roms which support it.
- User selectable sizes for the Dalvik heap sizes, allowing a user to freely optimize their system.
- Activate a swap partition on your SD card and sets how often the swap partition is utilized.
- Automatically fixes configuration issues.
- Users can check the free space on their SD card and check the installation to make sure all is setup correctly.
- Runs ZipAlign on demand...this makes your programs load faster.
- Built in help system for easy reference of commands.
- All features can also be reversed without repartitioning your Secure Digital card.
- New logging features assists in troubleshooting issues.
- Commands to set the Low Memory Killer feature at boot time. Great for those people who are the "set it and forget it" type.
- And more...
Darktremor Apps2SD is not the same as Froyo Apps2SD. Froyo Apps2SD creates a secure folder on the FAT32 section of your SD card (this is the section that you see when you mount your phone to your computer) and stores the programs there. This is nice as you don't have to do anything special with the phone, but it isn't backwards compatible with older versions of Android (Cupcake, Donut, Eclair) and, because of the way Froyo works, older programs not designed for Froyo will automatically stay on your internal storage (unless you install a program that forces the move to your SD card).
Darktremor Apps2SD takes a different approach. Based on the original CyanogenMod works, Darktremor Apps2SD uses symbolic linking to force Android into moving your applications to the SD card. Because Android will not allow anything to be ran from the FAT32 partition on your SD card (and, in Froyo, it will only allow you to run programs from a special folder), Darktremor utilizes filesystems called EXT2, EXT3 and EXT4. Each one of these filesystems is native to Linux (the operating system running Android), which allows you to run programs from them (same as, say, a computer running Ubuntu). This method is completely compatible with all versions of Android, including Froyo. In fact, you can run both the Darktremor Apps2SD and Froyo Apps2SD at the same time.
Check out the list of Roms that either have Darktremor Apps2SD installed or are compatible with Darktremor Apps2SD. Click on the link labeled ROM List at the top of this message.
what's the difference between the two installers?
The advanced installer uses updater-script, the same method that Cyanogen uses for CyanogenMod.
The other script is the standard update-script, for compatibility with older recovery programs.
Other than that one difference, they are identical.

Bump...new version released: 2.7.5.2
why is it i have to run a2sd repair just to get this to boot otherwise it chokes out
http://pastie.org/1197625
rom: ported 2.2 sensui rom on droid1
using 512ext3 partition as mmcblk0p2 with the init.d startup method(same issue with the init.rc methed, not like that would matter)
Do you have a /data/dta2sd.log file? That would help me more than the log file you sent (the adb logcat is too late in the process for me to see what Darktremor is doing).
If you have the log file, send it to me at [email protected] and I'll see if I can find out what's going on.
EDIT: Jr33 may also be able to help out on this...he's got this working in two Motorola roms, so he may have to do something special with the rom to get the program to start. It may be a similar situation that I'm running into for the Samsung Galaxy S platforms.

Just want to make sure...
I am running Liberated R010. I have partitioned the class 4 sd card, in this order...6.5GB FAT 32, about 1GB Ext2, about 32MB Linux Swap. I have copied all of my old sd card into the 6.5GB partition. I'm wanting to stick this into the phone and let it do its thing. Will the apps be moved automatically? What control will I have during and after this big moment?
Do I need to reboot with the new card or can I do the unmounted hotswap?
Sent from my (liberated) HTC Liberty using XDA App
Apps will be moved automatically if the ROM supports A2SD+ or Apps2SD (Liberated should).
Not sure what you are meaning regarding "control". The move is pretty quick and happens at the start of the boot process. Technically, the user doesn't have control of the phone at this point.

No...no hotswapping. The EXT2 or EXT3 partition is mounted...you could corrupt it. You will need to reboot with the card as the mounting of the EXT2 / EXT3 partition happens during boot time.

I did tried as you recommended and nothing changed except for the size of the SD card. The partitioned card showed as 6.6GB, (instead of the full 8ishGB) but the internal memory stayed at 185MB. I used the live ubuntu method, 6.6GB fat 32, 1GB ext2, 32MB Linux. Partition session showed as successful.

Okay, try this:
From the adb shell, type a2sd reinstall.
The reason for this is that, if you were running Darktremor without the SD card partitioned, boot protection would activate and set the NoA2SD flag.
a2sd reinstall will clear the flag and move the apps to the SD card. That should fix your issue.

Now that I'm on a real keyboard, I can better explain what got me to this point. Some of this you've heard before.
I did Nandroid backup, then copied all of my SD to a safe place on my PC. Partitioned the new Class 4 SD card using Linux LiveCd, with about 6.5GB Fat32, 1GB Ext2, and 32MB Linux swap. It took a few tries, I'm not a Linux person. Once It was successful, I went back into windows and looked at the card size. It was indeed about 6.5GB.
Powered off the Aria and inserted the SD card, then powered on like normal. No obvious change, other than the SD being smaller. No change to the internal storage. Found the darktremor .zip file and copied it to the root of my SD using a card reader, reinserted the SD (with power off) and rebooted in recovery, applied your .zip. Phone rebooted fine, again no changes.
I again tried to partition the card using ROM Manager, which had previously been unsuccessful on the new card. After it had been Linux partitioned the one time, ROM Manager seemed to have worked. I'd rather have more than 512MB Ext2, though.
I am perilously close to full on my internal storage, so I'm eager to get this going. Thanks for your replies.
hey tkirton,
upon installing 2.7.5.2 and running 'a2sd check', I see that swap does not start now ('partition not present or no swap support').
I installed it by rebooting into recovery and flashing the zip, same way I have been doing up until now.
Any ideas?
So, you setup the SD card via Rom Manager and all is working, but it didn't work via Linux LiveCD, correct?
It could be the EXT2 partition. It works, but because there is no journaling, the partition is more susceptible to corruption.
You may try the LiveCD method again. This time, create a 1GB EXT3 partition and make sure you unmount the partition before removing it (force removal while it is mounted is a good way to corrupt an EXT2 partition...can also corrupt an EXT3 partition). Don't worry about going into Windows to validate...you can do that with your phone.
I don't know if there is another recovery available to you. I run GodSpeed (based on Amon_RA's recovery) on my Hero and Amon_RA on my Evo. I know the Amon_RA recovery will allow you to select your EXT2/EXT3 size.

Hmmm...works for both my Hero and Evo.
Which rom are you using? If you are using /dev/block/mmcblk1p3, it should work as it was introduced in this version.
I know this is going to sound stupid on my part, but are you sure swap has been working? The reason I ask is that earlier versions of CyanogenMod 6 Nightly Builds had the swap turned off in the kernel...of course, I didn't know that until I was working on another version of Darktremor (and I had already used three different versions of CyanogenMod prior to that).

I never got any different result from any method I tried. Except that after one attempt my Tasker widgets had lost their icons. I've put a lot into Tasker lately, which may explain my internal storage getting full.
I shall reattempt the Linux and pay particular attention to the mount status. I will also go with Ext3 if it is not a conflict with darktremor. Will the phone's storage be shown in addition to my partition (185+1024)? If my ROM (Liberated Aria R010) has DT A2SD, should I still install from .zip?

That is 2.7.5.1...the first release was bugged...this is release 2. I don't know which one does Liberated Rom have.
If that works, then jump up to 2.7.5.2. Make a backup so you can restore if something goes wrong.

Ok...tried it again. Here's exactly what I did: Linux liveD method partition: 6.7GB Fat32, 1GB Ext3, 32MB Linux swap. I was sure I did the mount thing as well. Did nandroid backup then copied my old card (entirely) into the new Fat32. Stuck the new card into the powered off phone and booted into recovery. Installed the zip you posted in this thread. After install (with no problems) I reboot phone and no change to the indicated internal storage capacity. I am running liberated aria r010 which is purported to include dta2sd, but disabled by default. If this is my issue, how do I enable it?

Stock ROM + A2SD

I am struggling to get Stock ROM and A2SD working.
I fully wiped the phone and installed the latest RUU and all the updates.
I then installed CWM 5028, superuser and then Dark Tremors A2SD.
I then partitioned the SD Card using CWM, but everytime when I load up the phone it doesn't recognise sd-ext.
I tried a2sd check but it says sd-ext isn't mounted so I can't do a2sd reinstall.
I have partitioned the card so many times in CWM, trying with no swap, with swap, 512Mb sd-ext, 1024Mb sd-ext, formating sd-ext after partitioning, tried a different sd card...
Nothing seems to work...
I even tried putting the SD card in my PC and using GParted to change the sd-ext partition to ext2 from CWM ext4, but that didn't help...
I've had this working before so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Does it need a specific version of hboot?

Hmm, I'm using Link2SD with an ext4 partition on CM9. Haven't tried DarkTremor on this one, but afaik I used it on SuperOSR, with the same partition.
It might be something with the stock kernel, but I'm not sure. There was a thread around here regarding Dark Tremor's; you should check that one as well.

Yeah I did think it might be the kernel from what I've been reading. But I first did this setup before there was any custom ROMs available when the phone first came out after s-off with xtc clip, so that worked with the stock rom then.
What I remember from before is when you open up CWM and go to mounts and storage, if it is working correctly then it should be mounted in there without you having to manually asking it to mount it.
Mine is never mounted in there, but mounting it manually seems to work...
I can read the partition in windows using ext explorer
I did read some install notes that says you should mount sd-ext in CWM before installing A2SD in CWM. I might try that and see if it makes a difference, but I'm pretty sure the install script does all that...
Maybe I should try Link2SD? I did look for A2SD+ but I couldn't find a download link for that.

[Q] Link2SD not re-mounting the partition after flashing new ROM

Hi,
First of all, thank you a lot for all the development effort that has been put in to bring the AOKP ROM up to this fantastic standard. I have been using the ICS AOKP for quite a while, and just switched over to the JB ROM. It feels a lot faster and smoother, thank you!
I have got a question on Link2SD after flashing this ROM. Apologies beforehand, if this is not the forum to post that. I had used Link2SD while on ICS to move most of the apps to the SD card. Now after flashing JB, Link2SD does not re-mount the SD card secondary partition. I selected all the options mentioned (ext2/3/4/FAT) but it fails to mount with any of those options. So I'm not able to re-link any of my apps. Does anyone know how to fix this and get my apps back?
I also tried the following as per suggestions in some of the threads: 1) mounting it in recovery: not working; gives the message error mounting sd-ext (2) deleting some of the apps like Downloads and Email: still not working even after deleting those two apps.
Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I never had any problem with link2sd and ANY rom. Im on CM 10.1
Till ICS it was easy to directly download and flash roms and Gapps.
But JB roms need trimming.
What i do is.. after a clean wipe I flash any JB rom. Then remove unwanted apps.. Instal Link2sd..
change few minor system apps to user apps (not recommended, if you dont know.. what you are doing).
After linking these apps.. I always have enough mem for Gapps.
In Gapps also you have few apps which you can convert to user app and then link it.

My issue is now fixed, but in a hard way. Formatted the secondary SD card partition, and then Link2SD automatically recognized it. All the apps are gone, but at least I got the secondary partition active. Spent another half-hour downloading all the needed apps again from the Play store.
Link2Sd not working for me on CM10.1 Rom
I am using TouchWiz JB V2 Rom
I have tried ti install int2Ext+ (CronMod Fixed version fro 4.2.2) Still no luck
Also installed Link2Sd but it gave
Unable to create mout script error
I partiotned my sdcard using recovery (CWM 5.0.2.6) (it created Ext3)
Then (Delected the sdext partition using "Mini Partition Tool Wizard" then created new partition for Ext4)
But still no luck Nothing seems to work

Hi
І have also had the problem.
I removed the system software of Google voice search, voice dialing, search . (Titanium Backup / un-install all user & system apps)
format ext2 or ext4.
Run Link2sd
Apparently there was no room in the system or chmod / chown
Can you tell which version of kernel you are using?
If you are on 3.x.x version, sorry to tell you that these scripts are not working till today.

Hi
Kernel 3.0.8-perf+chocolate [email protected] #1
I have Install [UNOFFICIAL] [ROM] [4.2.2] [29.3.13] Android Open Kang Project (AOKP)|Build #1 - P500
But link2d is not working.
I tried formatting ext2 and ext4, no result was not, error mount script.I knew it or not enough memory or wrong permissions set.
I mentioned that Titanium Backup can delete system apk you need to unmount the partition.
I removed the system software of Google voice search, voice dialing, search . (Titanium Backup / un-install all user & system apps)
Run Link2sd :victory:
I also had problems with link2SD.

The standard and not-really-necessary idea of doing a factory-reset wipe when flashing is the problem here. I also had that zong my sdext making it read-only and nothing, nothing except re-partitioning the sdcard helped.
not working !
hi ! I have a problem , I've tried to partition sd card with cwm, minitool partition , tried ext 2,ext 3 , ext 4 , flash again ROM , install first link2sd , recreate mount scripts every time i change the method but no matter what i do , it keep telling me that the 2nd partition is not mounted and wont let me recreate mount script . ( Mount script cannot be created ) . If anyone can help me , i'll very much appreciate . Thanks !

Hi, you can do one of these things, by adb shell run e2fsck -fpDC0 /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 to your second partition or using gparted run a full check of second partition of your SD card in a computer card reader, after that will work. I have the same problem, but in my case i have to do this procedure EVERY DAY because at next start the read only problem starts over... ANY BETTER SOLUTION APRECIATED !!!
After factory reset, I had a read-only ext4 partition. Had to start over.
Common cause of link2sd not creating its mount scripts is too little room on /system. Try adb shell df | grep system. Need a few meg. If this be the problem, need to trim the ROM.
Can,t understand ... How to Do it In Micromax A27...in custom Rom
tell me how to do it in Micromax A27 in custom Rom Dreamboltxv2
A lot of separate issues here and in various threads:
1. Sd-ext read only after factory reset. I never do that. Had that very thing happen. Save all data from partitions to computer, repartition and copy it back.
2. Not enough room on system to process/form mount script. JB and onward, ROMs need trimming. > 3meg needed, 9meg should be plenty.
3. No room on data. Link2sd can still work and fix that. If sdext can be mounted, that is ... and a launcher can live long enough to get to lin2sd and start it!
4. Other errors creating the mount script. I am now getting "device busy ... maybe ext4 not supported ... try vfat ... etc." Ext4 is supported. I have a copy of the script which I can place myself.
5. Data integrity problems in Kitkat based ROMs. Repeated recreation of dexes on data, using it up (Link2sd's Achilles heel). Sometimes, recreating that script can stop this. If one can get it re-created. Issues 3, 4. Link2sd can get the space back, problem is keeping it.
I have raised the issues with Link2sd authors.

SD card 2nd partition is not getting mounted

Hi Friends
Yesterday I flashed my HTC Explorer with CM10.1 Beta 5 ([DEV][ROM][JDQ39E][4.2.2] CyanogenMod 10.1.2 | BETA#5 | 25/07/13 | WILD FOR THE NIGHT) . But with this build my phone is not mounting the second partition of size 2GB (total 16gb card) which I have created from recovery menu. I have tried with the Mini partition tool on windows for FAT32 too, but still its not mounting my either Link2SD, mount2SD or by the kernel (About Phone -> System partion).
Please help me as without mounting the 2nd partition I can not install any other app as very very less space is available after CM 10.1.
Thank you.
Use Int2sd+ for cm10.1
You can Google it & download
Note: you when flash ROM when mount system, data,sd-ext..and make ext3 partition

Its still not working. I wonder, if we can do so many things in CM, why can not we simply integrate the script in to the rom itself. I'm damn sure 100% of HTC explorer users must be searching for a way to increase the internal memory of the phone also now a days sd cards are damn cheap.

mount2sd NOT mounted SD-EXT on Samsung Galaxy Y Pro Duos
hi,
I have a rooted Samsung GT-B5512. Init.d and mountd2sd installed.
Android 2.3.6, kernel: 2.6.35.7.
Trying to move a lot to SD card, including some system files since this is a low end device with little memory. Even with apps like link2sd after a large number of apps the int storage was full :/ therefore trying the mount2sd but it doesn't want to mount the sd partition.
The card (16GB) is formatted as follow: 13 GB FAT32, 1 GB EXT3.
In the section Storage\External mount2sd says Not mounted.
the busybox is installed, the startup script too. Driver is set to EXT but most of fields are grayed out.
Please help.

thank you, I was struggling with this alone for too long ...
Did as you say but same results. Mount2sd doesn't see the SD-EXT.
FYI - I did not install the ClockworkMod,just run it from the Android recovery shell. Anyway it was able to successfully create partitions on the SD.
Don't know if that matters ...
Do you want me to post any screens, or log files (actually mount2sd log is empty, even though debug mode is checked).

My ClockWordMod (CWM-6102) does only ext3 (did not find setting to change type). I'm not sure is there higher CWM for my cell.
I've made the ext4 using MiniTool Part under Windows but it looks like the Mount2SD does not support ext4 in my case. I can choose ext2, ext3, fat, auto but the ext4 is dimmed (could it be Android kernel related?).
Tried then also sd-ext and FAT, still Not Mounted ...

it was kernel thing (BTW - there are very few recovery binaries for this phone, CWM is for example mostly in use as a temporary executed, loaded each tip from ZIP).
I have updated kernel to this:

and things automatically got mounted (even made a partition using my PC and working same good)
thanks for participation

[q] sd-ext partition is not mounting!

So the other day I decide to get a new SD Card and gift myself with a sd-ext partition so my FIT can have more apps than it already has. After creating the partition succesfully I installed Link2SD and tried to install the script. This somehow didn't work.
Then I tried flashing the darktremour apps2sd script and using the apps2sdgui application, which again gave no fruitful results. A2SDGUI displays a message saying could not start for one of these reasons:
1. Device not rooted
2.A2SD Script could not be found.
3.No EXT partition found.
Now I know that the script did get installed successfully. My device is obviously rooted. So finally it boils down to 'No EXT partition found'. I tried mounting the sd-ext partition from the recovery and booting the device, to no effect. :crying:
I would appreciate it if anyone can help me with the issue. I really need that ext partition!
PS: I'm using Official CM7 ROM without any additional scripts other than apps2sd script.
I remember when I bought a new sdcard(class 10), my FIT(with 2.3.6 gingerbread/based rom) didn't even recognized it. Then the shop guy formatted it from the phone itself & then my FIT detected it. Then I created the ext4 partition(512mb) using cwm recovery 5.0.2.7 & all is well since then.
So I can only advice u to first backup the sdcard contents & format it from ur phone; then use 5.0.2.7 cwm recovery to partition it & hopefully all will go well for u too.
Also maybe the A2SDGUI app is conflicting. & there are some roms in which ext4 partition don't work/mount(my experience) but it should work for official cm7. I have cm7 of 28-10-2012 & 01-03-2013(last build) but I faced serious call issues in the last build: other person keep listening the callertune while my phone didn't even ring. So I reverted back to cm7-20121028-NIGHTLY-s5670.zip:sly: & it worked like charm.

I did partition the SD card from the CWM Recovery.. Now, I don't understand how the A2SDGUI app is conflicting. It is just an app to manage the partition rather than using commands in the terminal.
Anyway, I tried the unofficial versions of CM7 and now I have a working partition. I used Link2SD to install the scripts. Link2SD installs the ext4 scripts , even thought the partition is ext3. Well, I can't complain as long as everything is working
Thanks for the reply though. :good: :highfive:
