Hi
I would like to root my att s2 lte phone (gingerbread v3.2.6 ) which has been unlocked by someone I paid.
I was wondering if there's a safe rooting method that would not touch the unclocked state as I don't want to pay again for unlocking.
thanks
If it's unlocked, it will remain unlocked no matter how you root, or what you flash. as long as they put in the carrier unlock/subsidy code, it will never relock itself.
Thanks!
But do you know the best method to safely root 2.6.35.11 sky rocket?
I smell another brick. Another brick in the wall.

Guys Hello I got myself treated to an Inspire 4G about 20 hours ago..
I ordered it online from ebay where the seller sent me the AT&T device UNLOCKED
So my question is if I have an OTA upgrade or instally the latest upgrade(or probably flash some custom roms) Am i in the risk of losing my unlock??
Any other stupidity that may cause me to lose my Unlock??
Sorry for being a noob.. this is my first ever carrier unlocked device. Also this is my first **** from IOS//
Thanks in advance..

Just to clarify. You phone is already rooted and you can flash custom ROMS? Or your phone is just unlocked and you are confusing the terms ROOTED and UNLOCKED?
I meant sim unlocked.. Not boot loader unlocked
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
As far as I know you cant relock ur simlock it is not easy enough for a beginner
Like you,I had bought 2 years ago an (sim) unlock inspire 4g from amazon ...
You should use either easy ace root tool or HTC dev unlock website to unlock your bootloader ...
I recommend you to use easy ace root tool ,this tool will automate these processes: unlocking bootloader, flashing CWM ,installing SuperUser.apk
On the other hand S-OFF is a little bit risky you may brick your phone ,Be careful
Unlocking bootloader is enough to flash custom roms but not for flashing radios
Received SGS3 "SCH-I535MBCVZW" Developer Edition which should be Carrier & Bootloader unlocked
Unit has v4.0.4
I'm a bit confused of which item in the guides I need to do and which i don't. Mainly I don't understand what give this phone Dev. Edition status and what would cause it to lose that capability.. don't care about carrier unlock but the bootloader being unlocked I think would be handy.
I think Root is all I'm after but not sure the order to get there as I'm not sure what make this phone a Dev.Edition
Do I activate then let verizon update to 4.1.1 or do something else
Once at 4.1.1 then put SuperSU on SD Card and do what.. guide would me Flash the VRALEC bootchain but don't think that's what I should do.
To just use SuperSU I need the custom recovery screen.. confused!
Any help would be great.. most of my confusion is the fact I bought a unlock bootloader not sure how to keep it that way.
Much Thanks

Should just need to flash recovery of choice and then flash the SuperSU zip in the thread. Bootloader is already unlocked. That is only difference for that phone. Need to do some research but Verizon should not be able to lock it with update or it will not update. Not sure. Would check sites like SamMobile and Samsung to see what is required for update. If it locks then that was a lot of money for nothing but I doubt that Verizon can lock it.
I got a new phone in Japan and I heard that my carrier docomo can unlock my phone at a charge of roughly $30 (according to a friend who got the same model). I was looking up online and found that it can be rooted now. It's relatively new so I don't think it's full root, CWM, custom ROM, etc. But assuming I could install some custom ROM through CWM or whatever recovery and I had my phone unlocked, would my phone relock itself? What about a rooted phone; will my carrier still be able to unlock it? I want to unlock my phone in the future, but not at the cost of losing it if I wanted to play with it.
BUMP
No ideas? :[
I am completely clueless of what bootloader is and after some googling, I think that it's the locking of a phone's network to a specific company like verizon, at&t etc. But, here in India, we don't have such contracts, so do I need to unlock bootloader before rooting my phone? I previously had galaxy ace and there was no mention of bootloader even when I installed all sorts of custom roms.

you just won't get root if your bootloader is locked
Unlock it for root, CWM, ROMs , etc
No, a bootloader doesn't do what you assumed, it just restricts your devices from any alteration by giving you limited access. Region locked or carrier lock is a different thing.
Thanks all, one more thing, if I unlock bootloader then can I get my warranty back?

NO, you won't. When you apply for the code on Motorola site you lose your warranty. Even if you somehow manage to trick them, Moto G will still show status code as 2 (meaning relocked) instead of 1 (locked) or 3 (unlocked). Anybody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
Hi guys, can you please guide me on what to do for my friend's locked phone, he is coming from Sweden so her phone is locked to use only certain simcards..do I have to root her phone?
