Hi, I currently have a rooted mytouch 4g running android 2.3 that I bought used off of craigslist. I got an offer to trade my mytouch 4g plus cash for a nexus s brand new. Now I don't necessarily love Samsung but the deal seems like it could be beneficial to me. Some background:
I have a mytouch with a 'bad screen'
I have absolutely none of the original packaging or accessories.
The phone is a bit scuffed up and it is purple.
Now I was hoping you guys could give me your opinion, if you were in my shoes, would you trade or keep the phone?

I wouldn't....
too many bad things about the nexus s, and far too many fones that will be released in the next few months that will outdate "kill" the nexus S while the mt4g even with a bad screen STANDS STRONG, i also have a bad screen and this is far better processor, plus you can contact htc through tmoble to possibly exchange now for the scuffs u can spend 11bucks at ur local mall and get watever color gel case u want and.u now have ur fave color mt4g in ur hands
just my opinion do sum reading thru here there are lots of negatives to the nexus s, our (mt4g) gingerbread runs wayyy better

I honestly do not see why not... If I was in your shoes I would do it, if you don't you will probably be asking yourself what if? Plus you should factor in the following which is are you able to fully utilize hspa+ where you are.... Ultimately it also comes down to whether you have patience for Nexus S development to pick up and moreover if the mytouch better suits what you need... The Nexus S in my honest opinion is currently a better offering hardware wise and potentially (support google/dev scene) software wise with the largest omission being hspa+...
Apparently very debatable

I got the NS for 1 week and I went back to the MT4G. Maybe you like the NS, so try it and if not you can trade it again. I had a thread about my experience with the NS and compared it a bit to the MT4G.
HTML:

I'm returning my Nexus S tomorrow. Picked up the my touch yesterday. So far I think this version of Sense is terrible. That, however can be fixed. Really there are a number off things I don't like about the my touch yet I will still return the Nexus. GPS, accelerometer, and compass all function much better on the my touch. Huge difference. If I'm going to spend 500 bucks on a phone I expect the features that make it more than just a phone to work well. Updates from Google are important but I would rather have well functioning hardware. If the my touch never receives another ota it's still a pretty good phone. The Nexus will probably never have a stable compass or gps. That's my take at least. There were some other hardware issues such as phantom button presses that put me over the edge with the Nexus, but that may have been cured with an exchange.

I went from the G1, which I loved, to the Vibrant, which I loved to hate. The developers did the best they could but the phone was still sitting with no official froyo six months after release, so I got fed up and sold it.
I got a Nexus S after the hype, went through two replacements before I got one that functioned properly. In the end, I still couldn't come to terms with the fact I was essentially buying another Samsung phone. I did some comparison shopping. Turned my S back for a refund and got a MT4G.
I did have to exchange the MT4G one time to get one with a good display, so I wasn't too happy at first, but now I'm much happier than I was with the Nexus S. It's got a more solid build, the camera is better, the buttons are responsive (big problem with the Nexus), the GPS locks quickly, I trust an HTC device 100x more than a Samsung device, and considering that we are getting Cyan 7 nightlies that are already fairly stable, I know I've made the right choice.

Thats what I would do... Make a post, selling a Nexus S you haven't traded for yet, and see how many hits you get... if you get some legit hits.. I would trade the MT4G for the NS and sell the NS, then buy a MT4G or wait for some of these next-gen phones to come out. I LOVE the MT4G....it is amazing...think the NS fails in comparision...and anyone that would pick a NS over the MT4G is prolly just doing so because they are google fanboys, or they don't want to admit to themselves they paid 500 dollars for a phone that is basically the iphone with bugs....I honestly don't think anyone looking at the matchup objectively would pick the NS over the MT4G. Good Luck with your decision making, hope it works out.
You really want to get some unbiased answers post this same question in the Nexus S forms... Btw, I agree with the poster above if your heart is set on a mytouch 4g turn around and sell the Nexus S you acquire and obtain a mytouch 4g with the better built screen and possibly a better exterior color, like black

LOL now now lets not be that harsh, NS can still beat down the iPanzy 4 with its eye closed. But NS does not compare against MT4G as we know TMo Project: Emerald was successful IMO they created a monster muahaha and even its brother DHD can't beat MT4G in speed yet they share similar spec. NS could have been good but its crippled by Samsung due to their inferior management and other marketing factors.
If I am not mistaken doesn't the hummingbird processor take advantage of gingerbread in ways any generation of the snapdragon processor cannot? Or was this a myth?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Originally I wanted the nexus s but my parents got me the mytouch.
To me 2.3 was a huge bonus for the nexus s but now the mytouch has 2.3 so its all good. The next advantage was the better screen for the nexus but now that super amoled two displays are coming out the nexus screen will be obsolete soon enough.although if I was you I would just wait for the phones announced at ces to come out.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Yeah, you're pretty much going to get biased opinons, but I think the myTouch has a better chance of anything at this point. We got the CM7 nightys coming along nicely, and we even have a cleaned up version of the stock rom which runs like fire (Iced Glacier) and overall it supports TMobile's 4G network.
MyTouch all the way. You really don't need the NFC for another couple of years cause they're just starting to put some use to it.
MyTouch all the way, and plus read some of the stuff about the Nexus, it's having lagging issues, random reboots and such. And plus it's a Samsung device, that doesn't mean it won't get the next version of Android quick, but the fact that it's just a samsung device and that it feels like ****. The Mytouch (at least mine) feels solid.
ATM its just a myth as Hummingbird S5PC110 does not stand a chance with Snapdragon MSM8255 was only factor with 1st gen Snapdragon. But however at the same time credit must be given to SGX 540 as its slightly better than Adreno 205. Then again this is where Samsung can only excel huh in graphic and SAMOLED display. Also don't let the whole NS using ext4 BS get to you as we are still not in dualcore world fully but ext4 does have its benefits. Overall MT4G beats NS with its face down in the gutter where Samsung belongs. This device is not any type of flagship but it does have potentials as lineup device, only thing I see holding it back is Samsung lol and then again they tend to do that.
I've had both but ultimately chose the MyTouch because having 4g speeds made a huge difference in the entire experience. On the NS I was always having to run wifi. Also the NS just never felt complete. Running CM7 makes the MT4g a complete phone.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
Dont, Nexus S isnt really a that good of phone plus u have gingerbread etc and Nexus S is samsung made. Cheap quality. MT4g kicks its ass in CPU and Some GPU stuff ( shader performance and more) so i say keep it
If you have 2.3 on your mt4g there is no point. That's the only thing the nexus s has over mt4g out of the box. Plus the mt4g has 4g and HTC is better than Samsung by a long shot...

Just curious and looking for some of you all opinions. I goggled several sites and was curious of the top rated droid smart phones. Not one site (at least the ones
I looked at) even listed the inspire in the top 10 phones. Why is this? What makes these other phones superior.

What phones were in the top 10?
Sent from the moon using XDA App
The common ones I found were (in no special order)
LG Optimas
Atrix
Bionic
Infuse
Thunderbolt
Galaxy S2
Xperia
Droid X
Is there anything some of these phone have that we don't that is of some use/value?
Well some of them are not even out yet lol so don't know how there rating them, probably just by specs , and we all know you can not go purely by spec since the Atrix on paper should blow away all the phones on the market right now.

The inspire would probably do anything them phones can do..except have a usb dock on it..coff..coff
Yeah, not a good source obviously. There have been a lot of people who love the Inspire compared to the Atrix.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Well I guess then if some of these phones are not even out yet, several sites must be going off the suggested specs. I really don't put to much behind some of these "so called experts" but was just curious.
Looks like they chose phones which in a way, revolutionized the industry or are currently doing so, at least. The Inspire 4G is just another run-of-the-mill phone from HTC with nothing new, tech wise, that makes it stand out compared to the others. Some of those phones on there, at least from what I've been reading about them, include new technologies that set them apart. Or, in the case for the Droid X, DID set it apart, at that particular time. The Inspire 4G has no hardware that places itself above the rest. I would imagine that the Thunderbolt is on that list because of the LTE hardware (maybe more?).
To be fair, this phone (Inspire 4G with its second-gen Snapdragon processor) is solid in both performance and build quality. That's really what I look for in a phone - something that will last a long time and perform well with no major hiccups.
Ill say I had the Atrix for roughly 28 days and it was an easy choice to make returning it. The AT&T Rep even was bashing the Atrix. He told me they hardly even sell them and typically when they do they get returned for the Inspire. Hardware wise its great but that's about it unless you like themes with no real rom or kernel mods. The Bionic isn't out and is less powered than the Atrix so lol at that.
Plus in my opinion the Inspire has a much higher build quality. The Atrix (and soon to be Bionic probably as well) felt too easily breakable where the Inspire feels sturdy and strong build wise.
Its all personal preference though really. After 28 days I can now say no thanks to Motorola devices.
Sent from my HTC Inspire running CyanogenMod 7 using XDA App.
Understood and agree!
The lack of a front facing camera was killer on this app in the reviews, and may be part of why it isn't in the list. Honestly though how many people will use it? I personally hardly ever use the regular one, and would never use a front facing one.
My inspire 4G rates high on my list and that's all that matters.

In my experience with the atrix, it felt like a Honda civic with a big turbo, its really fast when it works right, but it hardly ever works right, and each pothole feels like a fender might fall off, whereas the inspire feels like a bmw 3 series, not the fastest thing on the road, but very reliable and comfortable to drive, these reviews are based on specs alone, and I doubt any of the writers spent any real time using these devices as their personal daily driver. Now if only the inspire had a bigger gas tank

I wouldn't say the inspire rates terribly or anything like that... what I've read from reviews is that it's a solid android phone for a steal of a price for anyone signing up or renewing their contract. The only downfall was the battery and no ffc.
However, since we're on xda... roms easily get me through the day and then some.
As far as ffc goes... Well call me old fashioned but... meh. If I want to see someone's face I'll do it...in person.
Yeah plus many of these "critic's" run.straight to quadrant benchmark and runs the test to see the high number. Like it even matters. Using a ffc would kill our battery doing webchat and the battery? Go to any sgs phone or many others and run a custom Rom+kernel, ill guarantee u,that battery won't last long either. All these phone are about performance performance performance...well if its blazing fast and everything is updated to newest firmware, then who gives a damn,ya know? So when u see someone saying look at my atrix or thunderbolt ...say "mines just as good" cuz it is. LTE and ffc is what separated the two IMO. Sry for the Long reply, but just know the inspire has great software, great graphics, and even after a custom Rom,even a possible battery. Inspire should rank higher.

~About a month or so old.
~No scratches WHATSOEVER (has been in a case since day 1 so it looks new)
~I have BOX and ALL Accessories (Yes even the papers -_-)
~Extra TPU Case
Thanks
I would wait to see if there is any news of the nexus prime coming to Tmobile. You never know lol
Your best bet on figuring out a price for it will be to check craig's list or other classifieds for relevant pricing in your area. It will at least give you an idea about what your competition would be in attracting buyers.
Exactly I wouldnt jump ship for SG2. You might as well get Nexus Prime and get auto updates straight from google.
specs of both phone are really similar, wouldnt know why you wanna jump ship for it. only difference are tw4, samoled, 4.5 inch display, and 1.5 processor but we can oc our sensation easily to that.
I know I am waiting for something better. I just don't see the sgs2 being that huge of an upgrade to justify spending ~$550.

I'm totally going to upgrade to a One phone. I'm on T-Mobile, and I'm kinda sad we won't get the MOA black version. But I'm curious, aside from its strength what other advantages will the MOA get compared to the Grey anodized version?
I'm case I decided to get the One X, will either of those versions get T-Mobile faster 4G?
And correct me if I'm wrong but.. The One X and One S here in the US is practically the same phone, the only difference being screen type and size (obviously resolution) and battery??
Also, I love the screen on my brothers Galaxy S 4G, is the One S similar, worse or better than that?
Does the T-Mobile version have dual microphone? One regular and one noise canceling?
Sorry, but no the One S and the One X aren't even close. The S uses an S4 chip, while the One X uses the Tegra3. Now if you meant the AT&T version (which is the One XL), then they are the same other than the screen type/size, battery, and I think the XL will still have 32GB memory unlike the 16GB on the S. Of course I'm half asleep making this post so please forgive me if I was/am wrong on any of that. As far as the mic goes I'm not sure.
On a side note I hate the fact T-Mobile isn't getting the MAO version.
I think the one xl, has a dual core processor, not sure of that, but I think i heard it somewhere. If that's true, i recommend de one s, as it's cheaper, and still an awesome phone.
Sent from a potato via tapatalk
Yeah I was referring to the One XL. I seriously hope the One S does have dual microphones. That would at least save it a bit from lack of MOA
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G XE with Beats Audio using XDA
I'm on Tmobile USA. The more I debate between the One S and the One XL. The more I lean towards the One XL which should work on Tmobile. One XL has an HD screen and a bigger screen over the One S. Plus the Front Facing camera is a tad better on the One XL.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda premium
I'm on T-Mobile too, and the only reason I'm considering getting the One S is due to price. I have an extra line on my account. My mom wants to put my dad in my account so that the whole family will be in my account. Obviously the phone would be way cheaper, especially if I go to Sams club or Costco.
If I get the One X I'm paying full retail, and there's no guarantee they'll sell it to me the week it is released cause they give preference to their customers or new customers.
Not to mention, don't know how long it'll take for them to get me an unlock code.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G XE with Beats Audio using XDA
I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's using the same TI wifi chip as the Amaze. That really hindered dev. on that phone since HTC isn't releasing the source for that.
How do we know that we are not getting the black version?
Alright I work at T-Mobile and my boss has a friend in tmobile that actually had a meeting with a HTC guy and he even held the one s he told me wonders about it but he also told me that in 2-4 months from release the black one will actually come to tmobile and that it was already confirmed so Id rather wait for the black one

folks that sounds crazy.. waitin for a device for about several months just for another color?! i can understand that this is important - i personally would never buy the silver one, luckily living in Germany where it's no prob to get the black one - but in this case: i would order it somewhere else or live with it

i probably would not wait 2-3 month for the black version over the grey one myself however i can understand if someone does! first of all it's not only the color (and the more beautiful look) but also the texture and improved durability. if someone wants to keep the phone for 2 years maybe waiting 2 more month and actually get what you want might not be so crazy ... aside from that i consider myself also lucky living in a country wher the black unlocked version is already available
I can completely understand that it's an issue. just as mentioned: i wouldn't buy the gradient metal version either. but since i'm quite impatient i would definitely try ANY workaround but ok, i'm quite lucky not having to deal with this.. hope for you guys over there, that t-mobile is a bit quicker

Hey guys I am new on Sensation forum (not on xda, you can see my thanks meter and total post ) and will get my brand new sensation next week.
Do you still love your sensation?
I come from Xperia Neo and want more powerful phone than Neo and i think i got this phone since I dont have much money for one X or Galaxy nexus which is preferrable for me.
Edit: I have my sensation now, use it for one month and love it, so sad some devs moved on but another devs come, now this thread specifically for anyone who want to complain or express how you love your sensation.
I still like but can't say that I love it. After trying out the One X the rose coloured googles have come off. I still much prefer the Sensation for its design (sd card, removable battery, curved screen) but the performance and screen on the One X blows me away.
I like the sensation better than the galaxy s ii. The number of ROMs, the current ICS support, the HTC one S ROMs, (Why get one? ) the overclockability to 1.9GHz, the built in beats audio support, the removable battery and the fact that the housing comes off in one fell swoop(if you phone gets dropped and gets dents, replace it quickly, cheaply, and easily), the ability to multi-boot, and the fact that it's HTC. Doesn't get better than that!

I still love my HTC sensation XE i mean, look at it.. It looks great. What's even better is the support the XDA sensation community gives. The camera's great, its a great phone for gaming, the pixels are just awesome (movies and reading ebooks)
As for the battery life, i get about 21-25 hours a day. But it depends on what custom ROM you use too. Might i suggest you use ARHD ROM as well as Faux Kernel. And also, if you are willing to spend US$30 on an extended 1900Mah Anker battery, go for it.. the battery really helps alot, i have seen some people going over 40 hours on a single charge.
Whatever it is, if you're worried people here stop the support for the sensation, don't be. Its a great phone and once again the community is superb

I sold it and have regretted doing so ever since. Have the SGII right now, but the lack of developer support, ICS, and TouchWiz make me wish I woulda ditched the Samsung instead.
That's exactly why I didn't get the SG 2. It's funny you put up this post. I thought I lost my phone yesterday and was looking at replacements. The galaxy Note is nice with the stylus pen and HUGE screen. But Touch wiz is garbage so nope. Then the just release the One X on Rogers(Canada) and looks wicked with ICS and Sense 4.0, but only 12 GB of usable storage!!! NO SD card slot!!! I ordered a 64 GB card last week cause my 32 GB card is full. Again Nope. Found my phone yesterday...So yes I LOVE MY SENSATION.

I ordered a 64 GB card last week cause my 32 GB card is full. Again Nope. Found my phone yesterday...So yes I LOVE MY SENSATION.

I hate touchwiz too, even they updated it to 5,6,7. And falling in love with HTC sense.
Look at my friend's SGII, its fast but the UI looks like a crap, i dont like it.
And he always asks me for a good launcher to replace TW launcher

But how about the extra 256MB of RAM? Is that very noticeable? Or the HSPA+42 vs the Sensation's debated 14.4 or 21?

Tried my friend's SGII and its fast and never had any lag. But TW is crap like hell, and too much mod stock rom on rom development.
But idk about browsing speed, we luck if we had over 3Mbps here, never had more with any phone.

This phone from the out side perspective looks slow but when you set it up to your liking with custom roms and kernels this phone rocks. If you keep it stock its slow so don't.

Hey guys I am new on Sensation forum (not on xda, you can see my thanks meter and total post ) and will get my brand new sensation next week.
Do you still love your sensation?
I come from Xperia Neo and want more powerful phone than Neo and i think i got this phone since I dont have much money for one X or Galaxy nexus which is preferrable for me.

how come it's cheaper than the Gnexus? I will be getting the Sensation soon and its available online for about 430-450$ + 30-40$ for shipping! When the Gnexus is available for 399$ + 20$ for shipping or so! from where are you going to get your Sensation and for how much?
Sensation sees some strange pricing. When I was originally looking at phones, I was told to wait for a used mint Sensation at the $200 price mark. I did see a few, and missed out on the one or two that were legitimately mint. Found a few that were beat out or otherwise extremely shady (suspect IMEI would be blacklisted not long after the sale, etc). Ended up "desperate" for one and ponied up $250 for it. A shame since the MT4GS is just about identical, except for the small screen and physical keyboard (and assured hspa+21 and supposedly better camera).
In the NYC area, I see like-new ones go for $250-300 all day long, and new ones around $300. I know TMO charges $550 for it BNIB, which is absolutely absurd, given the GNex's $400 unlocked/unbranded price. Even at $300, the Sensation is a bit hard to swallow, since there's "better" phones for not too much more (sg2's and Amazes sell in the $350 ballpark), although those are used.
On the shady shade of things, if you got in contact with someone in the states who was unfortunate enough to get their hands on a blacklisted unit, you might be able to score it for cheap :x
It's absolutely brilliant what HTC did with the battery cover in terms of being able to replace it and get an almost new phone. The only problem is that there's a small bit of trim on the bottom that's not part of the cover. I've got a new cover coming for mine, but that bit is a little mangled.
All in all, coming from a Motorola Triumph, this is the best phone I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Just running it on the "modest" ARHD at the moment, and it's more than thrilling enough. Can't wait for CM9 to hit maturation though. Hopefully by the time Sense love wears off on me and I'm ready to go back to AOSP style.
I do wonder for those on TMO's post paid, if you were to get a used phone, would you still have the remainder of warranty through TMO? I understand they are willing to swap up a G2X to the Sensation for those having severe issues. Would be marvelous, given that the G2X fetches as low as $150 used in my market. Of course, then you're losing out with the expensive postpaid contract anyway (unless they still do EM+ plans).
For $430+shipping, the Sensation is absolutely not worth it, and really, it'd be a no brainer to get the GNex! Especially if the Sensation really is a 14.4 device and not 21.

I know, i was talking about the original sensation! all online sellers sell them from 430$ to 600$!!
Did you get it locally or online? its being sold for 600$ here in Egypt with 1 year warranty which is a ridiculous price, anyone knows a good/trusted place to get mine?
And if the XE is being sold for 430$ hell am going to get it lol

How is it slow?
I found the Galaxy S II laggy compared to my Sensation XE and I have not rooted it, running completely stock.
Got rid of the SII because of TW
