[Q] ICS rom - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Ice Cream Sandwhich AOSP source code has been released since late last year, I am just curious as to why the Skyrocket doesnt have a working ICS custom rom as yet.
I am a noob, but I notice many other phones have alpha builds and/or beta builds while all we have( much credit to its developers) are themed roms that look like ICS
Why is this?

ICS source code does NOT equal Samsung Kernel Source code....
you must have all the proprietary bits and blobs in order for it to work....

Drivers for the device. There has been plenty-o-talk about the subject. Samy has to release the source ICS kernel with the ICS drivers.

I'm not understanding Tjisana's question given that people like seanzscreams' have produced the Sky ICS ROM.
Is that not what he's after?

That rom is ICS themed. It is ICS in appearance only. Still a great rom but doesn't bring the features and additions that a true ICS rom will bring

Ah - got it. Shows you what little I know. That explains why the version number is still 2.3.6 and not 4.0.
Thanks for the quick update.

not for a while, untill google release the source code there will be no roms at all. At best guess maybe when they release ice cream sandwich they might release the code.

gotcha..cuz on my phone im running cm7.0.3.1 and i see in the CM settings theres an option for tablet tweak..curious what that was for seeng as it was built for the htc evo..lol (scratching my head)
There are tablets that run gingerbread roms. Probably meant for those. You can change the lcd density and get the aosp gingerbread launcher if you prefer.

Nope. Apparently He/She is a special snowflake
Thanks for the info but we will add this thread to the previous 30 threads about ICS.

This is so tiring. Another thread about worthless source code. Source code without drivers compiled for our device against ICS is worthless. Devs cannot build an ICS build that will be stable without specific drivers built for iCS and the new kernel. Until LG releases or at least leaks an ICS build for our phone, we are not going to get a stable ICS rom, despite their being AOSP source code.

i never said anything about the devs to start making rom didnt i???? now that source code is release brands like lg will start working on then since they said they would. i know htc said that ics will come to my sensation earlier 2012
and even though developers make an ics rom without the manufacture release its versio it would not work correctly because of the drivers. it will have problems with gps etc etc

Release of ICS source code is still an important development for community rom development.
We can still get a stable build by compiling ICS against Gingerbread kernel.
We have fully working drivers for Gingerbread kernel.
Yes but the cookie in Ice Cream Sandwich is not Gingerbread.

I really hope you're right. My only concern before getting this phone was that of NVIDIA providing the devs with the drivers that we need for further Android updates.

Can anyone leak ics 4.0 from samsung's servers yet?

Has anyone been able to check samsungs servers for the latest infuse gingerbread or ics leak yet

well we can't get a leaked ics cuz they haven't built it and probably wont, if the i9000 gets it then a port could be possible if the kernel interfaces are the same as gb for the hardware we don't have in common with that phone. then maybe our gb source code could be mashed with the i9000 ics sources and a port may be possible.
also the captivate got a gb update. there is a good chance there are no new builds because one has already been submitted to att for approval.. official could drop within a few days in theory.

ICS OTG Kernel?

Ive currently been running NexusMod ICS Zero Build 2 Rev.12 (Beta 12) for a few weeks now and im wondering if anyone knows of a ICS kernel that would allow OTG functionality? Most of the kernels in the dishevelment section are for GB, I know Romracer has one for his ICS build but im not sure how to extract the kernel from the zip.
Please any info would be great
Coming from the Captivate section where everything is just laid out has spoiled me I guess...
I think romracers ics kernel is in the same thread as his GB kernel, iirc.

until source is released for Skyrocket ICS, no. Nothing can be added really until then. That's why you haven't been seeing the threads, not really any to make. Mohan has been starting work on a custom kernel from the international version source, but it's very alpha at this point. Soon as we get official ICS, Sammy should follow soon with our source, then progress on stuff like this, BLN, OC/UV, etc will really start cranking out quickly.
Thank both of you for the replies. I think I found a work around by installing toggle15. OTG is finally working for me..either that or it was a crappy cable

[Request] AOSP ICS/JB For SGSP

Hello everyone, I've got Galaxy S Plus 5 months ago, and I found out that there will be no official ICS or JB update for it, so I am asking is there AOSP version of ICS for this device, not CM or AOKP. If there is I would be thankful if someone could post it here, thanks
You're on the wrong section. But nvm I'll answer. Broodplank was trying to build aosp ics but no success. For now we have no aosp ics or jb. Broodplank announced the aosp ics on one of the comments in the cm7 2.1 thread

We have CM9 and Partially working CM10.
i think thats enough for now. Or can you develop?
A working aosp gb is possible. But afaik a working aosp ics is only possible by porting. But unfortunately i havnt succeeded in that. Same thing for compiling from source.
I need stock, not CM. And AOSP kinda is a stock samsung system

It's not a stock Samsung, it's stock Google/Android. FWIW, it'd be nice to see AOSP, but CM is in general more customizable and advanced.

Well if I intend to sell the phone I wanna sell it with ICS stock look and I want to have ICS because it is a lot faster, GB on my Xperia Mini was slow, after update to ICS it worked much faster, I hope same would be with SGSP, but I can't even update Galaxy to official 2.3.6. I don't know why...I didn't even found official Samsung forum
I just remembered that the first alpha build of jelly bean from vpumpkin was an aosp jb but its not stable and can't make calls. Doomsday released his latest build but was not an aosp. Well if you are pro at making roms then try to take vpumpkin's aosp jb and add in doomsday's fixes to cm10. I don't know but I think its hard to just take cm9 and remove the theme manager
