ICS = Battery drain? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If noticed a lot of roms have some slight of battery drain, Which rom do you recommend?
I'm currently using AOKP crespo4g milestone-2
Thanks!

..

I'll give it a whirl and report back, Thanks
Wait, this isn't for my nexus s 4G though?

..

it's almost same to me , i have use 2 batteries back in GB time with heavy usage , and ICS same 2 batteries.

Battery life for me is MUCH worse in ics. But I feel like its the radios fault. No matter what from/kernel/setting combos I use I can't even break 10 hours with only 1 hour screen time. Blows ass for me. But ics is pwnage compared to gb so I'll keep it.

Doing a clean fresh install of ICS stock ROM 4.0.3 (after formating everything) made a world of difference to me .... 2 days are easy of moderate use .

Full wipe try the ROM I'm using
Nexus S (GSM i9020a)
CM9 Nightly Kang (Build 1 of v2.1)
Eugene's Kernel (Speedy-7)
OC 1100/100 (conservative)

Gingerbread menus and overal theme was darker and thus used more power.
Install CM9 and install this theme and I guarentee you will have longer on-screen time.

I have a huge reason to believe the battery life issue is my reception here. i always have 1 bar. sprint is sending me out a airave device thats suppose to boost my signal.. we shall see how this works..

Me too!! Right now i have 2 bars and it stays there all the time. Rarely do I see it go over that. Tried the new radio, and all the other radios. No dice. I think there's some software going wrong here. If I switch my signal to dbm my phone stays @-67 for the most part. That don't equal 2 ****ing bars for me. Yesterday I got 8 hours.. with CPU downclocked to 800mhz with lulzactive set to fast 1up, 2down. Brightness on auto and NOTHING syncing. This is BS. I had 6 hours of extremely heavy use on gb. Lucky I'm unemployed and never go anywhere for long periods of time so my phones basically on the charger on demand

It sounds like it could definitely be your phone struggling to get a good signal. That will drain the battery faster. I am running CyberGR ICS rom and my battery life is great.

Same problem here.... my HTc Wildfire S on ICS is eating twice battery then GB , with all closed down (wifi,bt , network etc).
It is a software problem i guess...
Any other opinions or fixes ??

[Q] Best Battery Life

Hello, recently switched from my epic 4g to an evo and now to a nexus s 4g. I am currently running cyanogenmod7 with the netarchy 1.3.9 cfs kernal. I rooted the instance i got the phone so i never found out how stock rom battery life is. Anyhow what do you think the best combination of rom/kernal for battery life is?
Try them all and see what works for you. Just like the Evo, the Nexus has finicky hardware and all the different Rom Kernel combos work differently with different phones. For example, I can't use Matr1x at all. Phone has areas that stop working and gets real laggy but others love it.
|NeXuS S 4G|
I've been running the NS4G stock since the day I got it and the battery is AMAZING! But I'm comparing it to my previous Android phones, Hero (battery life was OK) and EVO (battery life was horrendous!)
I'm ready to root the Nexus and I'm hoping that none of these custom ROMs mess w/ my current battery life..
Stock the battery is awesome I've had this phone for a month and still can't mimmick it.. but on my rooted Evo still had better battery life than this phone I stretched it to 37h 49m but.. and using matrix I get dead spots on the center of the screen every now and then.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium App
This should be in Q/A....
But to the point I've been using CM7 and Netarchy and it easily lasts through the day. Usually the phone leaves the charger around 8~AM and by 9PM-12AM when I plug it in for the night it's usually above 50 percent, sometimes down to 30-40 if I used it a lot.
Usage patterns will determine the battery life more then anything else. Don't Overclock or go crazy on background updates and the S will treat you right

You quoted the wrong person lol.. Honestly I used it, just didn't sync anything and turned off the 3g by unchecking the enable always mobile. had Calkulins roms that undervolts, Netarcys beautiful 4.3.2 cfc suv no havs rom .. all results vary of course through person to person.. I'm not constantly on the phone and crying that it can't last more than 6 hours... the last hour of it i was playing street fighter on the snes emulator as well.

lmaoo whoa what a fail.. anyways.. so your 3g was turned off the whole time? don't really know that many roms about the evo cuz I have an epic and my bro has a nexus s 4g.. I love the epic and it has great roms/kernels/battery life but when i look at all the roms for evo i feel like im missing out.. cyanogen and miui man.. those are what i want.. the most i went with my epic with 3g on the whole time was about 27hours..
EDIT: actually running on 30+ hours now on the epic with 40% battery left..

How is the battery life of 4.0.4 Official AT&T version?

Can anyone comment on the battery life on the Official AT&T 4.0.4? Battery life is one of the most important necessity of mine. Right now I am on SKY ICS 4.2E with the nexus extended battery and I can go with a full charge from morning 8:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m with moderate usage. The ICS leaks were horrible, so that to back to stock GB. Tried Sky ICS 4.2F but 4.2E was smoother so went back and sticking to Sky ICS 4.2E.
If this official release is too bad on the battery life like the leaks, I am gonna skip and stay on Sky ICS 4.2E for a while.

If you're worried about battery life I would stick with SkyICS. You can wait a while till sean works on the ROM a little bit more but hes been working hard to get the tweaks with the latest ICS.

Check that frequently for more updates. :good:
two days on att ics, fully stock non-rooted... yada yada. day 1 was great got 11 hours with moderate to heavy use (mostly internet, set up, download apps). day 2 sucked, only got about 7 hours of use .... slight to moderate use (some internet, fb, 10 mins of map with gps).
i'm hoping day 2 was a fluke.

I'm impressed with it. I got a solid 12 hours of usage out of it. Playing tunes, texting frequently, downloading apps and what not... Keep in mind, I'm not on an LTE and as such I have it disabled. I've heard it can wreak havoc on battery life.
Can't give an accurate estimate for today, as it was plugged in and floating around 30-50%... But it seems better than GB to me.
What about your screen on time?
Yeah... battery life has been bad for me since I switched from skyics Rodgers edition to att official skyics release. Tried reflashing the rom a couple times but the problem remains. Just gotta wait around now for a solution.

The battery life of the official ICS was definitely better than 2.3, that being said I have moved on to SkyICS, and it's simply fantastic, even with the stock kernel
For me, it's excellent on wifi. On 4G, it's decent. I can go about 10 hours with moderate use and system power saving settings on.

Battery life
My wife and I have the same phone her's is white(stock) mine is black (rooted and using stock rom bloatware is frozen ). I am getting better hours of use with some Words with friends a few calls and a few txt message. I can go day and half before I charge. Wife has to charge nightly and she uses her phone less then I do. I am rooting her phone tonight after work. Both have upgraded to ICS.
My wife has my old Skyrocket now that I have the GSIII..She came from a Cappy to the iPhone to the Skyrocket and she swears by the battery life on her phone and she LIVES on her damn phone...(I do too, I'll admit). She claims it's even better with the firmware upgrade, stock & unrooted..
Stock rooted rogers, with heavy use, I've got a dismal 4-5 hours! But that's scree on & browsing... Good thing I'm close to a charger.......

12 hours! battery @ 78% didn't use the phone much since 5 am. Made a couple of phone calls, surfed play store... not much
i didnt like the battery life on the official build so i am using skyics 4.2f6 now with better battery life! Seanzscreams is the best developer for the skyrocket love his work.
for those of you who were like me and had horrible battery life on any of the ICS roms including Sky, i have found a solution i have tested this on 2 roms so far the first being my Daily Driver CM9 Nightlies, and stock ics. i found that for some reason when my phones screen turned off my phone would not go into sleep mode, the fix for me was to run SetCPU app, which i did pay for, and create 1 profile, for screen off, and just change the the cpu max and min speeds to max 540 and min, 192, i found that will keep your notifications coming without any lag, and when you wake the screen it will not be laggy as well. I'm Currently at 13 hours and my battery is at 79% and i played with the market, and surfed the web some, obviously texted a few time as well. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mhuang.overclocking&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5taHVhbmcub3ZlcmNsb2NraW5nIl0.
it is worse than 2.3.6. now after just over one hour heavy use, down to 63%

Pure bone stock phone here (for now), battery life has been pretty good IMO (compared to my Captivate). The other day I was down to ~72% after >15hrs of light use.
As always, YMMV. My theory is that it depends on the apps you have installed, and what version they are. I would get updates to some apps and my battery life would suddenly be different after the update (sometimes better, sometimes worse.)
My gfs on stock has dropped by about 50%. Lte in sf.

I went from rooted running every from imaginable and now I'm stock battery life on the ics uptade is much improved from gb it almost feels like a rom check it out...
Granted this is light usage but still great for a stock bloated phone

Getting maximum performance out of G2X... on specific device

Ok for some mods my thread maybe annoying as these kind of things has been asked before but I want to share my device specifics with some of the experts here so that they can help me. Maybe others can post their device specifics on this thread too in order to get help
My G2X : 1.25 months old (my first android )
Carrier : WIND Mobile Canada
Tried Roms for maximum performance --- I am still on testing phase for this cell phone. once i get to the optimal setting then I will give it a rest and use it normally
2.2 Froyo Stock WIND --- Too Old
2.3.3 (V21e Stock - TMobile ) --- Too plain
2.3.4 (v21y stock - TMobile) --- took a headache to get upgraded on Windows 7 after that something odd happened. 1 Hour of temple run got me to 5% battery straight from approx 80%. Thought March 2012 baseband was the culprit moved to Weapon G2x with July 15 kernel (note: never moved back to June 5 the original WIND kernel till now)
2.3.3 (Weapon G2x Latest + Faux Kernel) --- Best Rom for stability and battery life ....BUT ..... stock browser kept on crashing without any reason and also some greed for CM7 tweaks ... moved to CM7.2 latest nightlies (dun remember which one)
2.3.7 (CM7.2 RC) ---- was OK with faux kernel i got 6 hours straight battery time on WiFi (using Skype, Playing Games, Voice calls, Texting, Browsing, Sync On constantly .... i.e 6 hours straight awake and screen on) --- got stability issues so I moved to CM7.2 stable
2.3.7 (CM7.2 stable) --- had to upgrade the baseband again to March 2012 with the Temple Run mishap in mind ..... so then searched XDA ... found Trinity ... searched more ... found the last 6 Feb 2012 kernel for GB ELP .... flashed it and got the battery timing up to 9 from 6 hours also Heavy gaming is Lagless (GTA 3 , Modern Combat)... Loved it (though i was having flash distorted streaming issues) ....anyway thought i found the combination ... used it for few days..... Till
I have WiFi at home n work so I am mostly on Wifi thats why on my initial tests I forgot about the difference in battery timings on WiFi and HSPA ... One time out of the house visiting someone. I tested my combination on HSPA ... damn got less than 5.... just maybe 4 hours of straight awake battery timing while only constant browsing and texting and Sync On. Is that what I am gonna get with G2X? What if I am on the move while texting or browsing or using GPS (I haven't even turned on the GPS) 4 hours of awake screen on battery timing while only browsing is too low. so I searched more and moved to EB last GB release
2.3.7 (EB Latest .. possibly based on CM7.2 RC) ... feels fast .. mainly due to app drawer opening too quickly ....also tried GTA ... somewhat lagless ... ran my test of constant browsing on HSPA and some texting and Sync On ... got me still somewhat 4-5 hours of battery moved to HFP 2.2
NOW - 2.3.7 (HFP 2.2 based on CM7.2 Stable) .... installed V6 Super charger ... got battery timing of 4.5 hours with the above test.....(ALSO THERE IS A PROBLEM.... I AM GETTING A BATTERY DRAIN APPROX 5-10% /HOUR WHILE SCREEN OFF AND SYNC ON ON DATA... AND THAT WASN'T A CASE WITH WIFI ON CM7.2 NIGHTLIY) removed V6 and now calibrating battery. I have another app CPUSleep in my arsenal to test but I am waiting till i get the right combination ... i'll use it as a bonus.... if calibration doesn't work my plans are to switch kernels and test and after that downgrading to the old baseband and test...
now all of the above was typed so that the experts would know how far I have gone so they won't ask me to repeat anything that is already done above ... NOW MY QUSTIONS ARE :
1. I heard on some post on XDA that lower voltage on heavy usage tends to drain battery faster. Since I am using Trinity ELP which has lower voltage values by default as compared to Faux's kernel. Is this really possible that lower voltage kernel drain battery faster?
2. I am extremely skeptical about the baseband thing. Mainly because I am sure it should have an effect on battery timing too and also because since I am a WIND user and stock baseband was June 5 2011 and now I am on T-Mobile March 2012. Could the different baseband for different carrier may have some effect on battery timing while using on different network? What about RIL? Upgrading to HFP 2.2 on latest baseband i had a RIL mismatch .why should I upgarde RIL? Does RIL mismatch/match has an effect on battery timing?

Well for one use getril and update the RIL to 21y I find I get a tiny bit better signal quality... And some cpus can't handle drastic undervolt and actually will consume more power and get hotter which uses more power also... This is a good guide for undervolting I'd go with faux or trinity t15 and use the guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1558080.... And lastly the new baseband really isn't a huge difference in battery life its more about signal strength and gps lock times...

Thanks for the reply. I thought I wont get one due to that very long post... anyway
Ok I will update the RIL .... but part of my question is still unanswered. U see June 5 2011 baseband was stock on Wind froyo 2.2 but on others like videotron March 2011 was inside stock froyo .... so the way a baseband works are they carrier specifics or not? Or just Band/Frequency specific?
I haven't undervolted Trinity ELP myself since I am afraid of it getting fried I just left it on default values and had surprisingly good results with constant WiFi 8 to 9 hours constant usage. Its just that on HSPA the battery is draining quickly not to mention HSPA+ . And yes my cell is getting more warm to hot as compared to when used with WiFi. Is it possible that Trinity ELP values are too low for HSPA. Making it hotter and draining battery faster. Should I increase the voltage on ELP? M right now in calibrating process. Will update u more on that.
ELP kernel is set really low already and is too low for some phone best way is to use t15 and find your sweet spot..As for the BB I'm not to knowledgeable about wind but know you can use the new bb on it with no issues

Ok thanks. I'll do that and get back to u once I have finished calibrating my battery. Can u tell me what is the best way of calibrating g2x battery. I have tried zapplinrox die hard battery calibrator but I need to know if it can be used on g2x. And if it can be. Then how? The thing is that approximate battery showing on the script is different than the actual.

Calibration for a battery for the sake of making it better is just a myth. It's only beneficial when charging a new battery.

Hmm... yes I haven't saw any difference with V6 Supercharger even though It is said on HFP 2.2 OP that it works. I just used the die hard calibrator to see the actual current of the device. Now it says you need to be on 4200 mv in order to start calibration. Although I tried very hard and couldn't get passed to 4190mv. Anything I do after that (e.g turning the screen on reduces the battery). I have also installed Battery Calibration by NeMa referenced on the g2x forum here somewhere. It is said on that app and told by some devs that due to frequent changing of roms and kernels, battery values and may get mixed up since we don't wipe the battery stats while flashing through CWM.

Initially I thought that too. But what about the difference in the approximate % of battery left. Like when my battery was 100% the script and the above mentioned tool said it is about 4185mV which is approx 98% and that it needs to be 4200mV to be 100% and after my battery got 0% on stats (in just 9 hours with hardly using the phone just sync ON) the script shows there is still some juice left . approx 30%
And you know what . when the battery got to 100% on 4185mV. I del the battery stats and thats how I pushed it to 4190mV as I know Li-ion automatically stops charging once the battery is full. I am thinking of removing the battery stats again before it reaches 0 to see whether the device still works as the script says there is juice left. If there isn't then of course the device will turn off automatically and I can declare that script flawed for g2x once and for all.
Are you using the original kernel from hfp2.2 it has the ds version of fauxs kernel so the battery Readings are not correct at all.. If so flash a kernel with the cm battery driver like trinity or faux cm version

Temple run was just an example. What I meant there was that I thought baseband has a direct or indirect effect on battery timing when using phone rather moderately with Data

Hey DJLamontagneIII ... I just installed T15 Trinity. still not feeling good about battery drain. M gonna try Faux's . Which one exactly should I go for? I am asking that since I can't find UV kernel for 050 CM. Should I go for SV 050 CM? or is it possible to install 013 GB as on the OP it says it supports EaglesBlood. m not sure how as EB is CM7 based. m using HFP 2.2 as told earlier

Should I go for SV 050 CM? or is it possible to install 013 GB as on the OP it says it supports EaglesBlood. m not sure how as EB is CM7 based. m using HFP 2.2 as told earlier

http://faux.androidro.ms/Use 049 or 050.... 013 is for stock GB which EB had a long time ago.. With these a d t15 you have to UV with SetCpu or similar app... Follow that guide I posted earlier

Thanks .... installed 050 with the expectation of getting overheated as reported by many users. BUT ... it works perfectly .. slightly warm when charging but Perfect ... I compared its voltage values with T15 . Faux's are much more lower... still the device is working exactly how it should. I haven't OC it yet as it is performing much nicer and swiftly even on stock clock while gaming and using the phone normally. I know overclocking will get a decrease in battery timing right now as it is SV. so I will use your guide to UV it myself.
As for the battery calibration thing. I just came across a post saying a google engineer bunked the myth of calibration since most calibration script/apps just remove the battery stats file which does nothing except resetting the used stats. It doesn't have any effect on battery memory etc... That's why i removed the better battery stats app and installed CPU Spy as I think the frequent root access by better battery stats may also cause partial wakelocks or maybe m mistaken. Anyway if I found something fishy on CPU Spy. I will reinstall the better battery stats app to investigate. Now last but not least the CPU Sleep app I mentioned as bonus. While it is a nice app it's useless on Faux's kernel as he has already implemented that on 050.
Anyone reading my thread want a stable all round gingerbread and kernel combo. My suggestion would be to first go for HFP2.2 and Faux's 050 stable combination over CM7.2 latest nightlies as HFP2.2 is based on CM7.2 stable while the (should I say stock) CM7.2 nightlies still have that flash streaming problem (Till date). Also the video camera in HFP2.2 is awesome not to mention the newly added ICS launcher interface.
Mods can now close this thread if they want to or leave it open for others seeking maximum performance out of their specific g2x device. Thank You everyone.
Glad you got is sorted see how different devices are I get sods wile charging overnight with 050 stable.... And just to clarify hfp2.2 is based on CM7.2 RC2 not stable so it's a little behind the nightlys or really weeklys

Ok..... getting the SOD now what do u recommend? 48 stable or 49betas. As I can't find 49 stable. Also does these have 1 processor sleeps and 500MHz limit when screen is off like 050 or do I have to do both of these things externally?

Your Preffered ROM? (Dec 2012)

(Nov 2012)
We have been very fortunate with a recent influx of ported ROMs and modified experiemental Kernels and want to gather people's opinions on what the best Daily Driver ROM/kernel combo is these days.
What says you!
Well when my DS died a month or so ago I was bouncing between CM 9.1 with the experimental kernel, paranoid android, and virtuous infinity (1.3.5 beta 1). Each had its own merits... cm9 is on there right now but the screen doesn't work lol.

I am a huge fan of MikTouch and always keep a android just in case. It is probably the most stable of any Rom available.
This week I finally tried the new AOKP from SilverL. I haven't tried an AOKP before. I love all the tweaks in Rom control. It will probably be my daily driver for awhile.
Just try a few and see what you like. Good luck.

CM 9.1. Running the R3 ROM with the R8 kernel and everything's working smooth.
I second npiper. I tried a couple of the ICS roms and enjoyed them, but after a week or two I couldn't deal with the little issues any longer and went back to the rom that hasn't let me down, MikTouch. I can't remember ever having an app fc on me with it.
MAN! That's like taking a police officer into a Dunkin Donuts and asking him to pick one favorite!

I try all of the ROMs that come out. But I always end up back on the Miktouch 0.7 ROM because it is super stable and everything works without having to sacrifice virgins or do anything else extraordinary.

Lol.
Interesting, I never knew Miktouch was so preferred around here. I've always skipped over it because it was Sense and I've never been happy with stock sense. I'll maybe give it a shot this week. It's GB not ICS, right?
I'm also going to test out CM9.1 r8 and see how I fair with it compared to my (somewhat) trusty CM9 Alpha5
Paranoid Android is a very fun idea and I love having it as an option, but I'm not sure a screen our size really calls for it

I'm testing out the new CM9.1r8, as well. Miktouch is indeed GB. With it I'm regularly getting 30+ hours of use with my 1900mAh battery. I'm anxious to see what I get with the new CM9.1r8. I tested the earlier r5 build of CM9.1 and just wasn't totally happy with it so I went back to Miktouch. I love the look of the ICS/Sense4 and Sense 3.6 ROMS, but none of them have the stability and battery life I need, so I end up back at Miktouch.
30+ hours sounds fantastic, but for reference how long would you say you manage to get on a CM9 ROM?

Depends on usage really. I can get up to 40 hours out of one of my ankers with around 4 hours screen on time. Or I could get 9 hours battery life with the same usage, it just depends on how hard core you use your phone that day.

Yeah what he said. There are users that will claim to have amazing battery life and then post screen shots of Display only accounting for like 30% of the usage.. When that's the case then you know the thing isn't on that much because it really is display that uses the most juice if you're using your phone heavy.
That said, I've had the Mugen 3600 since the day it was released and I can always get through a whole day without any worry even if i'm talking for hours, playing games whatever surfing the net and checking XDA regularly etc.. Sometimes I put the smaller batteries back in because the phone looks sharp stock but then I find myself concerned about being near a charger and I hate that feeling. I just want to plug it in while I'm sleeping and use it at will the rest of the time and with the "big boy" I totally can.

Yea I get that, I meant to pose that question to him specifically to see how his battery life scales with the two different roms since the user is pretty much invariably the biggest drain on battery.

I just loaded this CM9.1r8 ROM yesterday, so don't have any complete sense of battery life, yet. Though so far it is looking very good. I get such battery life on my phone because when I am home it does sit with the screen off most of the time. At home it connects via Bluetooth to my Panasonic cordless phones and Wi-Fi to my home network. All the voice calls I make or receive go through those cordless phones to the cellphone (my MT4GS is my only phone, I don't have a landline or other mobile). I do some texting on the phone, and of course when I go out of the apartment it isn't connected to Bluetooth. When I'm out I will use maps sometimes, apps like Friendstream and Foursquare. Oh, and when out I am almost always listening to music either stored on my SD card or streaming from Google Music or the FM radio. So, not a "hardcore" user, I guess, but I do what I need. Miktouch recently got me over 2 days of use on a single charge, but more typical is about 28-30 hours. The new CM9.1r8 is looking to behave similarly so far.

I got this build before it was posted from the dev, so I have a bit more experience on the battery. I ran it for 24 hours straight without recharging, got in 2.5 hours of web browsing, another hour of wifi calling in, and the batter was at 15% when I woke up this morning (Anker 1900 mAh). Everything I've tested has worked fine. The one gotcha on the battery may be if you boot into it initially--I noticed that on the first reboot, it wasn't going into deep sleep, but after I rebooted a second time, it was clean. It may require a full battery pull for the hardware to completely reset or something. Otherwise, things are great!
CM9.1 r7 kernel and ROM. Flashing to r8 soon. My only gripe with this ROM is the camera is a little lacking, but I'd take stock AOSP over the sense camera any day. If I were to use GB though, I'd go with one of Undead9k's "senseless" ROMs.
Well this might seem obvious to most in this community, but since I spent as long as I did not updating maybe there are others out there as well...
I have found no reason to *not* update from cm9 to cm9.1 r8.
Does anyone have any opinions of our new AOKP vs CM9.1 roms?
Actually I'm using CM9.1r8 ROM, too. Although it's still soon to throw a veredict, by the moment I'm getting great battery life, and it works perfect and smooth.
The only feature I still miss is the alt/caps led/status bar indicator ;(
DEC 2012
With CM10 still in alpha, CM9 with R9 kernels, and AOKP, PACman, Paranoid Android and MIUI all updating what's your new preffered daily driver ROM?
I'll be testing CM10 tonight since my CM9 flash has recently started having problems connecting to the network for a short time every other week.

Best Batteries or Extended Batteries

Hey guys, would love to get some advice on batteries for this phone. I would like to buy an extended battery or at the very least a spare that I could swap out when my main one dies (which happens far too frequently for my liking). I've heard some talk on these forums about Nexus batteries fitting in these phones, is that true? And if so what Nexus battery should I purchase to be sure it would fit? If not any aftermarket batteries that you guys recommend or would I be better off with OEM? Thanks in advance for the advice!

I'm using the latest 'stable' build of CM10, CM 10-20130107 and whatever the default kernel is for that ROM. Battery life isn't awful but I wouldn't really call it great either. If I'm just around the house on WiFi all day I can get about 3 hours ish of screen on time and maybe 10 hours of standby. Problem is as soon as I go mobile 4G seems to really suck the battery dry. I'll get maybe an hour and a half of screen on time and shortly after that it will die. The strange thing is that I have all of my push notifications off for everything except Facebook, no email or any other apps are seeking data (in theory), Google Play isn't allowed to update when on mobile data so I'm not sure why being on 4G makes such a difference but it really seems to drain the battery fast. I have noticed a few things when trying to troubleshoot battery issues that I've had, CPU almost never seemed to go below 384 MHz according to CPU Spy so it was never hitting deep sleep like it should. I went ahead and uninstalled almost all my apps on it and now it does seem to enter deep sleep more often. Another interesting thing that I notice is that sometimes the phone will just be sitting in my pocket not doing anything and it will be really warm for some reason (almost like CPU has been working under full load for a long time) even though I haven't been using it at all. Seems to only do that when I'm not on WiFi so maybe something to do with the 4G modem? Anyway if you have some advice on a better ROM or kernel that would give me better battery life I would be happy to hear it. Battery life is really my only gripe with this phone.
I'm using the All-star Liquid Smooth ROM and running Lightning Zap Kernel by Thomas.Raines
This is my battery life
Now I have been using WiFi all day and when I'm on 4G there isn't a significant battery drain... to be honest I saw some of the best battery life ever on this phone using AOKP by racing 19969 I was getting at least 15 hours and max was 17.5 hours using LZ kernel on that one too
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T769 using xda premium
I've been able to pull about 12-13 hours with minimal use on CM 10 w/ BlueLightning X2 kernel underclocked a bit, so I'm thinking its time for a new battery. When I first got it I was able to get somewhere around 16 hours on the debloated stock GB ROM. Ideally I would love to be able to get at least 18 hours, so that I could make it through an entire day and night with a few hours to spare, but I don't see that happening.
I love this phone, but hate having to worry about the battery mid-way through the afternoon. I really do miss the days of my old BlackBerry getting 3+ days of heavy use before it started to warn me to charge it...

I've honestly thought about going back to stock firmware several times, thinking that the battery might be better there along with better stability. I love CM-10 for the looks and just overall usability but with random reboots still happening at least once a week and other little quirks along the way I've wondered if I might not be better off with something a little more consistent as my daily driver. I did try Lighting Zap Kernel at one point, perhaps problem with how my mod was installed or something but I found my phone to be consistently slower and laggy with it so I removed it and went back to base CM-10 kernel.

Its your phone and your choice but once again I recommend AOKP and Lightning Zap Kernel I'm haven't had any random reboots on lz or any lagging and I always got 15 hours at least and 17.5 Max, I have medium to heavy usage on my phone .

Well the thing was I only lagged when I had Lightning Zap installed so either it was stupidity on my part or too much gunk in the file system or something else. I'm a little confused as to what AOKP is, I was under the understanding that it's a kernel, but Lightning Zap is also a kernel and you can't have two right? I did try the Gremlin Remover, which completely screwed up my phone the first time, so I went back, used black hole, then Gremlin Remover, and reinstalled everything from scratch, phone seems to be stable now but I did have a black screen on death once since then. Somehow in that whole process my 32gig SD card seems to have died : (

I would use the latest nightly instead or the stable. I also use blue lightning x2, I have better batterywith it than with Lightning Zap. Using mobile data with the screen on will kill your battery no matter what.
If your phone is not sleeping correctly (normally I will loose 1 percent a hour on wifi while sleeping, I also do a high level ATK kill before). Try doing a backup and run black hole and fsc a few times and format the emmc (backup important stuff). Then a flash of the nightly, kernel and gapps.

From what I understand though there are a few different versions of the Nexus battery depending on carrier, is that correct? If so which carrier battery would work with the Blaze?

maybe this one?? I too would like to replace the stock one. The one I'm posting and looking at is 1850mAh which should help a little but I'd like to know if it would fit without any special backs as I don't want any bulk.
