Is there anyway possible to root this phone? This phone is so handcuffed by its shotty built in apps like LG Home and socialite, that it just kills this phone If someone could just come up with a way to remove those apps that would help this phone out a ton!

It's been rooted. Just happened yesterday.
Google - LG Ally Root Android Forums
I will mention over there about posting a thread on xda when they have everything worked out and can post all three cleanly. I am hoping the mods will add a LG Ally Thread here now.
I rooted my ally a week ago, and have seemed to make the phone better just by removing some of the unused apps that came preinstalled. I would like to remove LG Home, an the theme selector, but without a good recovery option, im afraid to do it. Has anyone tried this yet on the ally?
I rooted my wifes ally and flashed velocity v3 and it made the phone worth something. There is a one click root app on this forum that works for the ally. I will edit with the post link when I find it. The Rom takes out the bloat and sets a nice CPU profile. Been running stable so far and my wife doesn't mess with my phone anymore!
The topic is titled one click root for n 1. Download the beta 5 version that one worked for the ally when I ran it.

There is a simple way to make a recovery for your phone. Get Rom manager, use this app to flash clockwork mod. After this in Rom manager select back up current Rom. A window will pop up for you to name the recovery (by default this is the date and time but I like to name my first recovery after rooting pre_mod). This will make a recovery img of your phone as it is. Apps, settings, etc. will be here to fall back on should the modification of your phone go badly. The way you use this recovery img. (assuming your in a boot loop or some other situation where you cannot access the Rom manager app) is as follows when powering up your phone press and hold the call and end buttons. This boots your phone in hboot. Use the volume keys to scroll and the end key to select recovery. Then reboot in recovery. This will boot your clockwork mod recovery you flashed with Rom manager. Use your d pad buttons on your keyboard to scroll, ok to select and your end button to go back. Scroll down and select restore and backup. Then select restore. Select the recovery img (i.e. pre_mod) and confirm. Your phone will do the rest and wham your free to try breaking your phone again (lol j/k).

rooting!

just installed gingerbread on my htc desire hd. and now my root has gone. i know VISIONary wont work on this yet so is there any other way to gain root access??
Hard to say. Sometimes official updates are designed by the carrier along with the manufacturer to disable any root access. If it was an update that required a wipe first, then definitely root will be lost.
Sometimes it's better to find a ROM that has a great reputation for frequent updates and stick with them, however, if you've lost root thanks to the latest update then you may be waiting a while for someone to figure out how to root this latest update to your phone unless you made sure to get something on there like RA that will let you wipe the phone and restore from a previous nandroid backup.
Gingerbreak...
hey could u please explain to me how u installed the gingerbread on ur htc desire hd...i have an unrooted one so idk if its possible to install the new gingerbread RUU but my downgrading process keeps failing (CID Error). I've got my phone running on 1.84.720.3...if you could please help me I would really appreciate it.
However, I've read around the forum and people are claiming that you can reroot your phone with Gingerbreak. Im not sure exactly how..im really new to this but im sure you can find out how to use gingerbreak by searching for it...

you mean the CID on making a gold card. how are you making the gold card?? with hex editing or with a software that does it for you?? i found i had the same problem so i used a hex editor, then worked first time. whats your email, i will send you all the links i used
finally got it to work. Now officially running gingerbread have u tried to gingerbreak? Also is there anyway to restore the applications from the SD card to the phone without the apk file?
well im not quite sure about the apps as i havent really messed around with it myself yet :/ i have tried doing the gingerbreak but came across a few problems, but i will carry on and keep trying how did you manage to sort your CID issue??
Yeah finally got the goldcard to work haven't tried to gingerbreak yet...not sure if its worth rooting since I already have gingerbread with sense running...any reason I should root?

[Q] HTC Hero bricked when rooting

Hi,
I'm not sure if I'm asking in the right place. Please advise me if I need to post it elsewhere.
I was trying to root my HTC Hero with firmware version 3.36.405.1 (latest, came from factory with it). I tried using Android Universal Root and z4root. I've used these methods before, but I had my phone serviced some time ago and they changed the board, so it came with a new board and the firmware above (the latest from HTC as far as I know. I had never tried to root this new board. I wanted to install a new version of android (2.2 or later) so my wife could sync her music back and forth with her new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0 7.
After several tries (Universal Root said the phone was rooted, but after that I couldn't do anything that needed su and root checker always tells me it isn't rooted; z4root never seemed to complete the task), one of those times (z4root) the phone was stuck in rebooting in z4root and I left the app (pressed back button) and it rebooted the phone. And now it doesn't start. I gets to a screen with an image of the phone and a red triangle and an exclamation mark. I can only leave this screen by removing the battery.
I already tried to erase the device using the volume down + power button method (several times) and I also tied to flash new firmware using the same method and placing the new firmware in the sdcard root and renaming it to one of the filenames that the phone tries to find when I use the method below. I even tried to flash it using the RUU downloaded from HTC, but the only firmware available from HTC is below my firmware version and it refuses to flash because the version doesn't match.
I tried to search several forums (xda was one of those) and used Google to try to find the correct RUU file, but couldn't find anything that would work. And I couldn't even find any original ROMs to flash using the volume down + power button method because all the ones I've found are not HTC original files and, after loading them, the phone refuses them. (At least I believe that's the reason.)
Did I really brick my phone forever? Can someone help me? If I take it to HTC, probably they can do something about it, but I can't go there because it's out of warranty now and they'd probably discover that I was trying to root the phone, charge me and do nothing.
Any advice? Can you get me the RUU program file I need?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Root/Custom Rom Help LG LW690 (Optimus C)

Hello,
I am new to the forums and android in general. Anyways, I am wondering if any one could advise me on the best steps to root and update my oldish android phone. It is currently on android 2.2.1 and has no support for 2.2.3 which is why I believe I need a custom rom.. I have looked thru numerous threads and sources but have yet to find a method i fully understand and trust, as i hear it.. you guys are very helpful and i am hoping that is true cause im about to pull my hair out at this point
Thanks in advance for any help, its appreciated very much.
Its great that you are showing interest in this. (Edited out, the device is stated in title xD).
Rooting shouldn't be as hard at installing a custom ROM. Older devices are rarely supported nowadays, unless it's really popular like the HTC Wildfire or something.
The best way to root your Optimus C is by using GingerBreak. Many users that have your device use that.
Info on other useful guides (rooting, cwm,ROMs) go here - http://androidforums.com/optimus-c-all-things-root/

Thanks for taking the time to repond/help. Anyways, after some more research I think I found a easy root solution.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13086954
This method seems both easy and very sraight forward. Could any one please confirm? Id just like a lil insight before taking the plunge. lol
Note* I would link the posts stating this does work to gain root access but i cant post outside links untill i have 10 posts on XDA.
Don't worry, the root method should work just fine.

Ok, got it rooted
The next step would be to download rom manager and make a custom recovery using clockworkmod?
Btw~ incase someone is confused in the future. The root procedure was a few simple steps.
Before doing these steps make sure usb debugging is active. Also temp disable your anti-virus as it will flag the apk as a virus, This is a false positive.
1. Download the file from the first post in the thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049944. (the easy way for me "since i don't have a usb cord" was to click the QR code link on the first post and scan it with one of the many free qr scanner apps from the play store.
2. Navigate to the download and install the APK.
3. Open Gingerbreak.
4. Click "root" and wait for your device to reboot. Thats all  "if the process takes more then ten minutes reboot your device and run it again"
5. You can go ahead and uinstall/delete the apk once you have sucessfully rooted.
The next step would be to download and install the devices custom recovery.
Don't just install any, again go to that site I had provided you with earlier that have the stock and custom .imgs with steps on how to install it.

Ok so.. I have a problem, I was about to setup a custom recovery when all of a sudden Super User decided to update and now im a little lost. I have still have root acess and all of my root only apps are working perfectly fine. but every time i use a root app or reboot my phone since the SU update i get a message saying my binary files need to be updated. I try to update them and it fails every time, I have looked though a few threads and the only fix i could find was to use busybox installer. But.. busybox will not install on my device. How do i go forward with this? I don't want to mess anything up.. specially since i just thought i had it all figured out. :crying:
Nevermind, I guess i found a decent work around, I uninstalled the update and forced it to not auto update. I don't know if this is a bad practice but it seems to have solved the issue.
I like LG' phones. I am using LG P500 and very like...:good::angel:

How do i stop software update?

I just got an LG G3 AT&T phone. How do I stop it from showing it has a system update in the notification area? I'm not updating to 5.x. I can force stop the software update app from the apps/all pane but it comes back next phone restart.
I don't mind rooting as long as it's easy and don't need a pc and I can unroot without a pc.
Hello??
Well I just turned on my phone and it updated to 501. It never asked me. So now can I go back to 444 via root somehow? Otherwise I may return the phone.
Read the forums a little bit. There's a lot of good info here. All of your questions have already been answered.
*ahem* Check the threads that are stickied. *ahem*

When I wrote my first post nothing came up to show me any answers or I would not have posted. The go back to 444 I found after my last one.
For me, the easiest way was using titanium backup and freezing the one called "Software update 2.3.3.1"
Since I did that, I no longer get requests for update
Well gee. I don't know if you can root without using a computer.?
Thanks all.
