[Q] Phone displays UTC time instead of CST - Samsung Infuse 4G

My wife's Infuse was running Serendipity VII, but she started having some problems so I re-flashed it with Zeus (just wiped cache, not user data). The Serendipity problems were resolved, but there were other problems. I wiped the cache AND did a factory reset/wipe user data and re-flashed Zeus. The same problems persisted.
So, I wiped the cache and user data again and went back to stock UCKD5 using Odin. Not the "GTG Ultimate Unbrick" package, but the "Stock Root Mod3e UCKD5 Odin."
Everything is running fine on her phone now except for one thing... the time on the phone is set to UTC. We live in the Central time zone which would be (UTC -6:00) and the clock is exactly 6 hours again. I can uncheck the option to update the time from the carrier and manually set it, so that's a workaround. But I want it working correctly.
I have enabled GPS and location tracking. I've rebooted (several times). I've pulled the battery for about 10 minutes. I've given it about 3 days now to try to work itself out. Google Maps shows our correct location. Even with Automatic time enabled, it shows we are in Central Standard Time.
What gives? And how do I fix it?

Try flashing a different modem. Some of the modems from Samsung's leaks have had issues with showing the correct time. Or else you could download an app from the market called clocksync which will sync your phone to the correct time zone

flash the UCKL2 modem..or alternatively any modem on this page with an asterisk by it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342978
though..the UCKL2 modem seems to work nicely.
the stock modem (and a few other ones) don't automatically set the right time. just a bug in them.

It's not a modem problem. GTG's Unbrick restores your phone to stock including a modem that doesn't have the problem originally. It doesn't erase your internal sd storage.
I had the same problem and the only fix was to do a factory reset from within Android (erases your internal sd storage).
You can try just deleting all the directories created by the OS or formatting the internal storage from CWM, but from personal experience a factory reset from Settings/Privacy worked for me.

Actually, it was a modem issue. Flashing UCKL2 fixed the time problem. But that eventually lead to other problems sending long text messages. Read my continuing adventures here, or, long story short, I went back to stock with "Ultimate Unbrick," then from there reflashed Zeus, then flashed UCKI3 modem. I wiped all cache, did factory reset, AND formatted internal SD card between each step. All is well, now.

Problem with Data Manager

Hi guys,
I have a problem with the Data Manager / Data Meter.
I have already installed several roms and have never had any problem.
Over the last months, I've been using the 134 DFP-10(Motoginger) and with the release of the CM7.1, I decided to test it, but since I had problems with the camera, I chose to go back to Defy Plus' roms. This time, when installing the new 134 DFP-74, I noticed that when I open the data meter graph, I get a "Force Close" on the process "datamanager.app".
I decided to install other roms to test if the problem was mine, or with the rom. Came back to Motoginger, several froyo versions, restored factory standards, made the wipes via CWM and Stock Recovery, formated the SDCard, but the data meter never worked again.
Do anyone have an idea of what is the problem? Even flashing a new SBF by RSD Lite and making all the wipes, the problem persists.

[Q] S+ 9001 roms. Problems with some of them.

Hi there,
Since I bought GS+ few weeks ago with 2.3.3. (xx??? rom) in Latvia, I have tried several ROMs and always rooted after that from recovery mode by flashing Root.zip.
There was a problem with my def rom, about 80% of sms failed on first send, so i gave it a try for other roms.
Right now I am using rooted XXKP4 (2.3.4.) as I found it the most stable for me - no WiFi issues, but every 2nd sms still fails.
So far I tried asian SZKP6 (2.3.6), european XXKPJ (2.3.5.), XXKPG (2.3.5.), XXKPS (2.3.?). Always the same - they work fine, no sms problem on any of them above 2.3.5 (including), but always there are problems with WiFi - it drops signal and changes connection to 3G/2G. Sometimes it drops every 5-6 minutes, sometimes it drops once in a half hour.
I always wiped data before flashing and did factory reset after flashing with Odin, after that I always root it with mentioned method and restore all my apps/system data with Titanium Backup PRO.
Could you guys help me find out what is the problem?
I want to get fully working 2.3.5 or 2.3.6, without any issues, but right now I am stock with 2.3.4 because I prefer push resend my messages better than Skype video call dropouts because of auto changing internet connection type.
Thanks in advance.
the only thing i can say is had the same issues with wifi dropping and first sms of the day would faili tried all the roms including the one im using now and they all had the wifi faults UNTIL i did a full factory default and erased disk, now im using the XXKPS 2.3.6 and it works fine.
So make sure you do a fresh start after flashing your Rom.

Factory reset after flashing with this code: : *2767*3855#
Backup first your internal sdcard because the reset will erase it.
I'm also on 2.3.6 KPS and think I have no wifi drops.
And to think I mean, I have not noticed.

Just a question - if I backup my internal sdcard before flashing and full reset with code listed above in previous reply, can I restore (copy from PC) all my files after everything is done?

The same...
Tried two roms (2.3.6 and 2.3.5) which works fine for lot of people here in xda-devs.
Factory reset before, and another reset after flashing, but the same situation. Everything works fine except WiFi - when I open WiFi settings, it shows refresh (search) every 5 seconds and drops after some minutes.
I'm on KPS and havent noticed any wifi drop.
How often does it drop? Does the wifi icon disappear when it drops and reappears when it connects?
i must of just got lucky, all i did after flashing to XXKPS was a complete reboot to factory defaults from settings/privacy/factory data reset and wiped SDcard aswell when asked, i then installed all settings and apps from scratch i didnt use any previous backups.
like i said before i installed XXKPS and got wifi drop outs but this is the rom im using now and the wifi is fine now, the only thing i did diffrently was what i wrote above.

Jep, this is how it happens - WiFi icon disappears and if connection is active, it drops (interupts d/load, skypoe, etc)
BackDaws - i can notice it before rooting and restoring my apps/sets. Last time I tried xxkps, it dropped for first time before I managed to copy root files to my sdcard, so this is not about restoring.
then just keep flashing it until you get the wifi working, im scared to flash to anything else now as that wifi bug was getting on my nerves.
are you using a Belkin Router by anychance ? ive read that changing the DHCP lease to 2 days instead of forever resolves this problem.
Try it

Problems after getting back to stock ROM from CM7

Hi,
I'va had CM7 a10 flashed on my Sensation for a few days. A couple of days ago I've decided to get back to Stock ROM, and then the problems started. Before installing CM7 everything was fine. After restoring my backup from before flashing CM7 weird things started to happen (apps dissapearing, settings changing on their own, hangs, and other stuff). So I've done a SuperWipe a few times, and flashed a completely new Stock ROM via USB using: RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.50.401.1_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_223042_signed file. Then I've done a few factory resets, just in case. But still weird things are happening (eg. now I have a clean phone - once again - and trying to setup the sync options and the options app hangs everytime. and installing something from market is like praying for a miracle). I've tried doing factory reset, clear cache/dalvik (but with dalvik CWM recovery says that the partition or files wasn't found). Don't know what to do. Does anyone have any ideas ?? Please help. Phone worked fine before, and after CM7 everything is f*cked up
Wierd, looks like you've tried everything I could think of while reading the post.
Do you still have a nandroid backup of CM7, if so does that work if you restore ?
Can you use ADB to get to the phone ? If so you could check some things from there.
When you installed the RUU from the PC, did it install without errors ? Presumably you had to re-install CWM after that.
CM7 nand backup works fine after restore.
I can use ADB to comunicate with the phone.
No errors while updating RUU.exe / CWM recovery flashed without problems also after that.
I think that there's something screwed up with the file permissions.
I've downloaded and installed about 20 apps since the last HR, and now I have about 40 apps more queued in Market, and as before the downloads are stuck every 1-2 apps. Then I have to restart to CWM recovery and run fix permissions. After that another 1-2 apps will download and get stuck again, and so on...
Anyone has any ideas what the hell is going on ? Because my I'm getting more then irritated by this, and beggining to think that the best solution will be to send my phone flying through the window.
A few questions first.
What country are you in?
Who is your carrier?
What version did your phone originally come with? I believe 1.5xxxxx RUU was released recently, but I could be wrong.
Did you ever change your CID?
Have you ever flashed a new radio and RIL?
Did you copy all of the data from your SD card to your computer, then format your SD card using the phone?
Answer these questions and try the SD card thing, then report back. I may be able to help.
Poland.
T-Mobile (Sensation) / Play Mobile (Gio)
Don't remeber what version my Sensation originally came with - I have a 1.50.401.1 RUU that I'm flashing with currently.
Yes, I've changed CID to 11111111 some time ago, but I'm back to original HTC__001 now.
No I haven't changed my radio or RIL.
I've tried formatting the SD card using the phone, my laptop, my linux NAS, my other phones.
The weird thing is that yesterday all of this was progressing. It came to a point that after a factory reset or even a whole ROM reflash nothing would install (not even Market update). And this also started to happen on my Samsung Gio. So after very very very frustrating evening, and part of the night I gave up. And in the morning it was still the same (on both my android phones). But now things are starting to work (updates/installs). So I think I'm going to blame the whole thing on Google and Market. I'll see what happens while I'll install all my apps in the next few hours.
Still have to restart the phone every 1-3 apps installed. This is driving me crazy

Wrong Date/Time Displayed

i rooted my girlfriends infuse 4g and and installed cwm recovery and played with a few roms. she was on dlevrom for a week and we tried a different one and now the time and date is always displayed wrong. if u goto date/time options and set to get time from network it shows the correct time for about 2 minutes then switches 5 hours ahead. its messing with her text messages and driving her insane. any ideas? thanks
Try a different modem. The sg modems threw my clock for a loop.
Or just manually set the time zone if you like the modem your on.

I am nearly certain that this is caused by your modem. I remember a modem thread that had an " * " next to the modems that kept time automatically. The majority of modems did not keep time correctly for some reason. The solution was posted above and is the only solution besides flashing a new modem.
Just my 2ยข
Has there been any fix discovered besides manually setting your time? I prefer timing off the network since it's the most accurate where-as I feel like the time on my cell phone is on free-run
I went from a rooted stock ROM on UCKH1 to the latest CatyRom ICS Edition... didn't like (HDMI didn't work) it so I used GTG's Ultimate Unbrick to go back to stock. The problem still exists. I did an OTA update back to UCKH1 and the problem still exists.
Download clocksync from market and it will sync the time on your phone for whatever timezone you choose

Thanks for the suggestion festivedonkey. The time was syncing up properly prior to flashing the custom ROM... Wondering what the heck happened to cause the seemingly irreversible change.

As it was mentioned above, it has something to do with the modem. It happened to me before when flashing certain roms, but I just downloaded the clocksync app which fixed my problem until I ran a different rom that had the right time. Hope it helps til you figure out which rom to run!

So was it a different ROM that fixed it for you or a different modem? I'm just running the rooted stock UCKH1 ROM and modem. The same combination worked fine until I flashed CatyRom then reverted back. I've tried all the modems from the Froyo ROMs and even tried UCKL2 (which showed reception but didn't actually work).
I thought running GTG's Unbrick would have fixed the but the didn't.
Fixed the problem on MY phone
Well since using GTG's Unbrick didn't fix the problem (and flashing different modems as well) I figured there must have been a file/files on my internal storage causing the problem because Odin/GTG's Unbrick doesn't erase the internal storage.
I deleted directories created by the OS and that didn't seem to help. So I backed up the contents of my internal storage (something I do on a regular basis anyway) and did a Factory Data Reset which also wipes the internal storage.
The clock time now reports the correct time using network provided time. Been working after mulitiple reboots, airplane mode toggling, and just sitting idle for the past 24 hours.
So long story short: Problem solved for me!

Gps issues on KitKat ?

So I've been noticing my GPS takes a while to connect and when it does get a signal it constantly loses it and connects again.
Causing my GPS to think I'm turning down streets that I'm physically not, facing different directions and thinking I'm 5 blocks away from where my actual position is.
All my toggles are in the on position for GPS and I have the High Accuracy option selected.
Don't know what else it could be other then maybe the hardware going out? :'-(
Anyone else have this problem on stock XT926 kitkat?

When you took the OTA to KitKat, did you just upgrade your existing configuration? You might want to look at wiping dalvik and cache first. If that doesn't work, then you might have to resort to a Factory Data Reset, which will wipe out all your settings, and see if that works. Usually, an issue like this points to stale files/settings/cache sitting around and if wiping cache/dalvik doesn't fix it, then usually an FDR fixes it. If the FDR doesn't fix it, then I would assume hardware issues or a bad OTA.
With the official FXD out now (http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=5), you could try flashing that to your phone via RSDLite or SamuriHL's House of Moto tool to see if a fresh flash of the official Kit Kat image will fix it.
If after that, the issue still persists, then I would definitely say it's a hardware issue. I haven't had any issues with the GPS on my phone.

Thank you for the reply. see when I upgraded i did a fresh flash. Completely wiped the phone and system and used the 183.46.10 fxz file and flashed it with RSDlite.
I'll try the other steps, wiping cache and dalvik. If that doesn't work I'll try flashing the fxz file again.
The thing I didn't do when I flashed the fxz file was regenerate the script with RSD script generator. I figured i just wanted to just save my data on my internal memory (photos, music etc) so I edited the original script my self and took out the (erase user data line)
Everything flashed over fine with no errors. now I'm wondering since I did that if it delete specific files.
I did format everything with twrp before the kitkat fxz update.
I'll try everything you mentioned before ruling out hardware though.

No, that should work if you wanted to save data, but I do know that sometimes, that can cause issues and a full wipe is necessary.
When I upgrade from JB to KK, I had issues with not being able to use blue-toot and wifi together. I did a factory data reset (wipes everything, including user data and internal storage as well as the internal sd card) and things cleared up since then.
I back up my applications and their data weekly with Titanium Backup and then I push those to my Google Drive, so whenever I wipe my phone clean, I can restore it back to where it was with the exception of any downloaded data files that are needed (such as offline maps for my GPS app, etc). So, doing an FDR for me is not an issue and it definitely helps with performance.
If you have a way of backing up your application data (and if you need to, your text messages), I would suggest doing that and then doing an FDR before trying to FXZ again. I know FDR sucks in that it wipes everything out and you have to set things back up again (Google account, etc), but it seems to be the one thing that fixes a lot of the issues people see after upgrading to KK.
Good luck!

Just wanted to thank you for the help and suggestions.
Backed up my internal memory, flashed the fxz file again (this time I left in the erase user data line), booted up and did a factory reset, restored my apps with titanium, restored my important files to my internal memory and like magic the GPS is working again.
Took a drive around the city for a bit testing it. I also turned it on and off and it's still finding the signal.
Thank you very much

Glad that fixed it for you. Usually, if nothing else works, FDR is my final resort and it hasn't failed me yet when things like this occur after updating.
