5x faster?

So I return my Inspire and pick up my Captivate again, flash Firefly and I get 5x faster download and upload speeds. Does that make any sense at all? Hahaha.

Yes it makes perfect sense because AT&T got caught and had to admit that they purposely crippled the Atrix & Inspire speeds. Now they said they will be releasing a software patch sometime in April to fix what they did.

It is about time they admitted they were wrong about something.

I was at an AT&T store last weekend and played with both phones. Did a speed test on both, disappointing. I noticed the H+ icon in the notification bar though. My Captivate is faster.

What speeds ya get on data?
I get 3-4ish mbps down in a suburban city, lol

They didn't actually admit to doing anything wrong
They just stated that they're currently not allowing those devices to "officially" use hspa+ and that they'll enable it in the future, like they're doing everyone a big favor.

Proof that the cappy is the ruler of the android jungle. Can't wait for the sg2. Probably the only thing I would put this cappy down for. Samsung and att might have their heads in the black hole with customer service but thats what this awesome xda community its for.

Eh, doesnt matter to me i snatched up my sammmy before this crazyness lol!! I hope the judge gets a hands on opinion with new samsung devices and then he/she can tell for themselves how different they are. I don't hate apple but this lowballing technique really doesnt help their image. Maybe they should create a phone that can actually compete with new android devices like the Evo 3d, now thats competition! In America "Competition means good business."

At&t is supposed to be getting it. But it doesnt look like there is any s2 branded for tmobile, or at least that supports tmobile AWS bands. You can order one unlocked and put your tmboile sim in it, but it will only work for voice and 2g/edge data. Even with that limitation...ive been thinking of buying one anyways, or the single core at&t infuse 4g and just unlock it and put my sim in it and live with the 2G data. Dont think i have the balls to live with 2g tho.
On another note, im guessing Tmobile USA isnt getting it because of the Hercules thats supposed to be released in September which is supposed the be like the s2 on steroids. lol.
I need to buy something new. The fact there are much more powerful phones out there even though i love my gs4g...is killing me softly...lol

Anyone in DC using the GS3 on Verizon?

As stated, is anyone here currently using the GS3 on Verizon while in Washington DC? I'm wondering how the radio is along the Metro system as well.

I'm in the DC area, haven't gotten to try my GS3 on the Metro (maybe tonight), but if it's anything like when I had my T-Mobile G2, the GS3 should work even better. In some of the busier stations my G2 would actually get full "4G" service, so I'm assuming that my Verizon GS3 would get full service as well since Verizon was already a working network in the Metro system well before they started adding cell stations for other carriers to work.

I'm in NOVA but travel to DC often, you shouldn't worry at all man. I get full 4g on the metro and mostly everywhere else in DC.

+1, I've had the DROID charge, htc rezound and now S3. Best 4G signal so far and I travel through dc, md and va.
Weird thing is the dbm score is not that great.. But areas where I never had 4g gives me 4g very consistently and I have literally not had 1 drop call since I got this phone (June 29th)

Used mine up in DC a few days ago, 4G was perfect

G2x unlocked on att

I have a friend who is on att and wants an unlocked g2x I have. I put his card into my g2x and it makes calls and gets on the edge network
(the little E shows up). What I am wondering is, is the phone working at 3g speeds or 2g? He has an Iphone 3gs. Also is there any roms for the g2x that are more suited to run better on att? Any info would be helpful.

I believe the issue is your using a t mobile phone on att network. They both use GSM and CDMA But for the faster speeds the phone needs to be able to handle that networks technology. T mobile high speed is that HSPA+, not sure what att is or if they use it, if they don't, the phone won't run on their "whatever " highspeed. Make sense? Check out what att highspeed is.

Yeah that might be true but now T-Mobile got and ad on their homepage saying bring ur unlocked phone to T-Mobile maybe now att phones will have 3g speeds or 4g who knows i gonna try unlocking my work phone wich is a att Samsung skyrocket

I have 2 G2x's (Me & wife). Both through Straight Talk. One on T-Mobile & one on AT&T. From the research I've done & personal experience with the two phones, the fastest data speed you will be able to get with a G2x on AT&T is Edge. I plan on switching the AT&T over to T-Mobile shortly. At least the 4G is fast where I can find it.

This radio is good but I live in a area with amazing 4g and I only get 3g with rare chance of 4g and help? Anyone else with better combo?

You can try using the TMo Galaxy Note radio. It works very well for me. Here's the link:

I am also on CM10.1 nightly and using my skyrocket on T-mobile.Get 10 down and a couple up most of the time.

I've personally used AOKP, CM 10.1 Nightly, and Root box and ran with the Galaxy note Radio and its be amazing. But I would say it depends on where you live.

is the radio the one linked Here a few posts up? coz it is showing UCLI3 ATT, and I was on that one before. switched to UVLG3 but still showing "E" instead of H+ for 4g. pretty sure we have 4g here. speed isn't too bad though

You made a huge mistake switching to tmobile!!

There is nothing called "combo" when it comes to using Skyrocket with t mobile (and in my opinion it makes things worse as you might have to troubleshoot both sides radio and rom problems) ... It is just the radio that can be fine or not depending on the area , and in some areas now t mobile switched their data freq to 1900Mhz so even stock UCLF6,UCLI3 or UCLL3 can work , including 4G

I'm stuck with Edge with no home WiFi. long story... I'm PO'd but in my marriage I pick my battles, fighting about mobile network is futile imo.

Ah I see. Good luck with tmo, my gf has had them for a while. Some areas get decent service but it sucks when traveling. It's always way slower than att everywhere we are.

Even if it's not for you , but I must say I've been with the BYOD att SIM from ST now for a year and never had a problem, calls and data are exactly like when I was on att .... Tried tmobile prepaid before and it sucks endlessly...I can't comment on what your neighbors think since I can know what's their background , at least the technical aspects.

was on ATT now switching to tmo.
still checking if i'll get sigbal where i will be most of my days. i dnt travel a lot so i'm not worried about signal other than home and workplace and in between. good thing i work only a mile away from home in same city.
