It looks like there are issues with sim unlocking of Sensation, about half of the phones are not able to unlock.
care to elaborate? I just bought mine "unlocked" from a store, they entered in the unlock code in front of me, and my sim car was accepted. I entered in the APN settings at home, but I'm not able to connect.
I called HTC's hotline but they were pretty damn useless. "try restarting your phone. Try a factory reset." I tried both, but neither worked. What gives!?
I unlocked mine easily too. Can't get mms to work though.

Just call T-Mobile and say that your are traveling abroad and want to use local carriers. They will send you instructions and unlock code.

I have a desire s on Tmobile and want to debrand it to see if this solves my problems in failing to receive texts and phone calls.
Can anyone tell me the easiest way to do this, and can i rebrand the phone if I need to send it back?

De-branding alone won't resolve errors on your phone, but will void your warranty.
If your problems are reproductive and not just intermittent then I'd suggest that you return your device under warranty and seek a replacement.

Iv had 2 desire s from tmobile now both have done the same thing, I am sure its not a hardware issue I think its a problem with the tmobile software, or whatever enables it to use orange signal aswell

Hmmm....?
I can only take you at your word....but, my wife has a branded T-mobile desire s which functions fine and has done for over a month now.
Where as I have a non-branded desire s which also runs on T-mobile but is unlocked and runs customs ROM which also runs fine.
Failing to receive texts does sound like a network issue not a device problem?
I also have a t-mobile desire s and all works fine, am on custom rom at the moment and have tried most of them and not had a problem with any off them. Also all worked well when it was stock rom.
Are you sure all your apn settings are correct.

Im not sure could you tell me the correct ones please?

Google APN settings, they're easily found.
But I don't think these settings affect the way you receive texts or make calls, they're just for data, no?

Have you set it to 3G only under network settings? Try toggling 2G only and see if it works.
solved
thanks guys was just be being a d==k and not making sre the connections were pressed on the black signal cable was loose!
Hi guys,
I have same problem with my HTC Desire S. Got it from eBay.
It is not asking for any simlock codes so i'm takeing it to b simlock free.
But the problem is "no service"
So i did this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1429215
But still nothing, and yes, i have my back cover on
The only thing that makes me sad is, there is a little "x" where is should show reception.
I have checked it on http://www.numberingplans.com/?page=analysis&sub=imeinr
and its sayin that it is fine. Phone is not locked or anything.
Plz help
This weekend i will finally get my HTC sensation. But it was carrier locked so the guy unlocked it before he wanted to sell it to me.
Now he has "no service" always on all SIM cards tested.
The unlock method he used is unknown for me, but i think i can get that information out of him.
He tried:
-3 or more different custom roms
-returning to stock completely
-some more if i get information out of him
So, my question is, what is a good fix for this? (Sorry if i didn't give you enough information, but i can get more)
Also sorry if someone already posted this with similar problem.

Sounds like the IMEI has been blocked, usually due to the phone being reported lost, stolen or a service contract breach. This is different to SIM unlocking and can't be undone as the block is applied from the service network side, not on the handset.
It can be used as a pda with wifi but the phone & mobile data will never work again, unless you can find out why the block was applied and get it rescinded.
This may be a stupid question but the imi number, is it blocked on the carrier he is using or are imi bans for all carriers?
