Definitely not the radio. What ROM are you using?
Have you tried removing the account and readding it? It could take a while to sync contacts if you are not using wifi.

Check your contacts via Gmail for a corrupted contact. Other than that you're pretty much SOL if you've reflashed roms. Google contacts syncing up was nothing I ever had any issues with. GMail.. well that's another story.
lol gmail was a mistake in my opinion... so to use it with phones well i never liked it.

I mean go to www.gmail.com in your web browser on your computer and check your contacts list.

Just a question out of curiosity. How long does does it take for the G2x or most phones for that matter to finish syncing up info from the Gmail and Facebook accounts? Is it mostly a matter of the internet connection speed? I'm on a 4mbps wifi connection at the moment and it's been in sync mode for at least the past four hours judging from the sync symbol shown in the Tsugi pulldown menu.
It would be a combination of amount of data, connection speed, connection reliability, media read/write speed, and since these are little computers, bus I/O speed.
Restart your phone bro cuz it shouldnt take that long to sync, the phone is just stuck in a phase where it thinks it still syncing. Shouldnt happen again thou

Tsugi w/ Oyasumi kernel. Don't have time to reflash things. May have to do it tomorrow during break, but resyncing all my contacts is going to eat into my battery.
Export it from your gmail to a .vcf and import it from your SD card to your phone. I had to re-do all my phone contacts since gmail used to sve each and every person I e-mailed a a contact so when the rep at tmo imported the contacts to my gmail account I was ready to kill him since I then had to spend about an hour deleting e-mails for things such as craigslist.

How do I export Google contacts to a .vcf in the first place? I can understand contacts when i press phone-->contacts. But I've tried importing that vcf file, doesn't do sh--. Phone just "reads" the vcf file, ignores it, and synchronizes using my Facebook contacts. Pretty worthless if you ask me.

sounds like something is screwed with your ROM or the install. Reflash or try a different ROM, I've gone the vcf route before and it worked for me.

I'm going to first see whether it's worth staying with the Tsugi rom.
ETA: Would you be able to recommend me a rom/kernel combo that's known for having good performance and battery life? Ideal setcpu settings under that combo would be nice.

Check my Sig. Stock based roms don't have the performance power of a CM based Rom but make up for in stability and battery life. It's all about testing the roms to find the one you like.

Cool. I was using that for a while. Tsugi is one of my favorites so far.
For those of you who are experimenting with AOSP ROMs on your HTC phone and want to synchronize contacts and calendar items with your desktop, have a look at this application. You can install the Android version via the market, the desktop install is freely available from the developer's website below.
http://global.mobileaction.com/product/product_AM.jsp
Also have a look at MyPhoneExplorer. It is also free from the market and very similiar software. You can view your phone's screen on your monitor and operate your phone with your mouse and keyboard. It is a proven software.

Interesting. I like the less cluttered look of this desktop version, but what worries me is the non-english support forum. I wonder if using both of these tools, in addition to the HTC sync software, might create some sort of incompatibility.
ETA: I also wonder how these utilities will respond when switching between ROMs or versions. I don't know how they track synchronization sessions. It'd be a disaster if contact items were duplicated or triplicated when updating or experimenting.

Did you have them synced with Google? If you did then just resign into your google account and they will be restore. As for TIBU it doesnt back up contacts by default as they are stored in System Data and restoring any system data, like contacts, sms, emails, wifi settings and things like that can cause huge issues when changing roms.
I had them synced but for some reason i cannot no matter what find them.. and they did not resync on the cell when i set it up again

once your sync options are double checked as Zel mentioned, sign in to gmail from the gmail app and get your email, this puts it into a forced sync. Should have all your stuff back.
Thanks for sharing, BillTheCat. I was not familiar with this app. I'l check it out. I've been using Google to sync my stuff.

Well, the account shows up, under accounts & sync in the phone settings, but I don't think it's actually syncing the contacts. None of them are showing up for me in the people app.

Uhm... personally I don't like these limitations:
IMPORTANT:
* Facebook does not allow to export phone numbers or emails. Only names, pictures and statuses are synced.
* Facebook users have the option to block one or all apps. If they opt for that, they will be EXCLUDED from your friends list.

Guys, I'm having a hard time finding an App that syncs Facebook profile pictures in HD to my phone contacts.
Haven't found a real alternative for HaxSync yet. HaxSync works for syncing the pictures in best quality, but only as long as the phone contac is named like the Facebook contact. PicSync seems to do it the right way by letting you chose a sync by Facebook ID (means it doesn't care about changing names), but it's no HD.
Any REAL alternatives, please?

WTF? We live in the 21st century and even HTCs social hub can sync by Facebook ID and everybody is telling me that HaxSync is the ONLY way for now?
Excuse me?!
HaxSync can and does sync friends manually, even though it's a bit less than user-friendly at the moment. The next update will make it much easier
Try this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ro.weednet.contactssync&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsInJvLndlZWRuZXQuY29udGFjdHNzeW5jIl0.
It connects by FB id... atleast that wat it claims
I've just tried contact picture sync and it seems working.
It's free and you can sync them manually in HD.
Is this what you are looking for?

Does it also sync all contact pictures by time schedule? HaxSync would be perfect if it would sync by ID and not by the stupid names.. you know how often girls change their ****ty names on Facebook - and boom, HaxSync doesn't recognize the person any longer and the conract picture catches dust. Awesome.

Just something HaxSync-like which keeps neatly in the background and syncs by ID on Jelly Bean. Can't be THAT hard, right?

Huge problem I have with this App: It does not really only sync the contacts in my phone list. I don't even want a facebook link in my contacts and I do NOT want to let Facebook import any phone contacts into the friggin' interwebz. I JUST want the goddamn picture in HD, synced by ID!

I upgraded it - do I still need the JellyBean Workaround? And one more thing: Could you simplify the menu structure, please? I've tested all the tools mentioned in this thread.. and came back to HaxSync.
I installed a custom rom and I got my contacts multiplied and synced with all the other accounts (People feature).
Can someone recommend me an app which sees only the contacts from my phone?
