[Q] I think I screwed up flashing to firebird

Hello... I tried flashing from 2.1 update 1 w/root to firebird via this method...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1s3TQ3rL-U
and while i was doing it, I dropped my phone and it shut off. (back cover was off because I had just put in a different sd card, and battery came out). Now, it just boots to the firebird logo, and does nothing for like.. ever.
Can someone help me out?! this is the only phone i have
Maybe I was being stupid and doing something wrong aside from the battery coming out, but either way I'm stuck and need help. thanks

Can you get into recovery?
What rom were you running?
do you have the rom file saved to sd?
Can you get into dl mode?
Do you understand my questions?

you were flashing a 2.2 kernel over your 2.1 rom.....

yes, 2.1 because i failed to use my brain before hand, yes, and yes.
Phone stops at boot logo for firebird. can't get past it, but I backed up my rom before I flashed the firebird kernel

If you were running stock, you need to follow these directions to get back to stock.

The return to stock process is different if you have an i896.

Please look around or search before posting. This thread tons of info on how to recover your phone. These things are darn near impossible to break unless you drop it.

did i brick my captivate?

so i was trying to install CR7 on my captivate and after the step where i install cm7-captivate-initial-kernel with odin my captivate now refuses to go past boot screen. Anything i can do about this?

Yes, it's soft bricked (recoverable). Instructions on how to fix it are in the stickied thread like 3 threads above yours:

Also, since it's cm7, make sure you check 'Repartition' in odin if you're going to flash to a different rom.

so i just did what was in the guide but instead of booting to download mode my phone booted to recovery mode. i might be able to fix it from here but im kinda afraid something bad might happen

Follow the instructions for installing CM7, after you flash the kernel you are not done and it will not boot up yet. Please read and understand what you are attempting to do if not you could end up being sorry.

Help NEEDED - semi bricked phone- yes I searched lots 5 hours trying to fix

FIXED- I found the stock ODIN Rogers file rooted and that got me going.
The unbrick ROM does NOT work for ROGERS phones.

Problem: Infuse will boot up and you see the ATT screen then 2 seconds later it sits on the SAMSUNG screen.
I have tried just about everything posted. I even tried the Infuse unbrick Odin pkg.
I CAN get into download mode. I can flash with ODIN. But upon reboot the phone goes back to the SAMSUNG screen.
How did I get here?
I had was running ZEUS. I had the issue with ppl not hearing me unless I turned speakerphone on and off for every call. I did a master reset. I had an issue with something else so I tried using a CWM flashable file which caused the problems needing the master reset.
I have tried many things but I am stuck.
I am trying to get an ODIN kernel that is moded like the V8 community kernel BUT all the links are broken.

Seems obvious to a rookie like me, but shouldn't you just use GTG's ultimate unbrick back to D5 stock and go from there?

I wrote that in my OP that I tried the ultimate unbrick with ODIN still stuck on Samsung Screen.

I said I needed ODIN files...if I am stuck ont he SAMSUNG screen it means NO CWM for me. The links in the original community kernel thread are broken and several ppl have contacted the OP including me asking to fix the links.

I can not get into the phone to delete or change the voodoo lagfix.
It seems that the boot partition is not working right.
I can flash with ODIN the unbrick file and it will install but upon reboot still stuck at samsung screen. I can NOT get into recovery either.
WTF? Did I make a brick?
Someone has to know how to fix this

Dude.. if you can't figure this out with those links that I posted, then I don't think that I can help you.. I can somehow manage to odin myself and bring myself back to a rom with those files and the respective rom. And I know that there are other people that can too... good luck bro.. I'm done..

Edit 2: Actually, if you need the 3e recovery file. I just remembered that you need that too. Haven't seen a mirror posted for that. Maybe that is the element that you are missing? If it is lemme know..

Flash any GB kernel that's rooted, but uncheck reboot.
Then try to boot to recovery.

I am well aware of using this stuff. I flashed many phones and tablets hence why I like Samsung.
Yes, can you provide me the 3e Recovery ODIN file.
That would be a good thing to try.

I can only use ODIN files because I can ONLY get into download mode. I can NOT get into recovery to use any CWM files.
I have been trying to find ODIN kernel files but the ones available the download links are broken and I pm'd the OP as well as others that need the files but still no luck yet.
Can someone please post an ODIN kernel for me to try.

Just to be clear I have now flashed the Unbrick ROM several times. It will load up and install. I get a green pass in ODIN but on reboot I see the ATT screen then stuck at the Samsung screen.
I have started to flash odin kernels from my captivate and tablet. They do get past the ATT screen and no Samsung screen but all I see is grainy stuff all over SO that tells me that changes are being made. I just need to try with an INFUSE ODIN kernel that might convert to ext4. I think that will solve the problem.

btw- thanks for the help...I am just ticked trying to get my phone to work.
I just need one damn file or small command to wipe the phone so it will take the stuff we are trying to push.

FIXED- I found the stock ODIN Rogers file rooted and that got me going.
The unbrick ROM does NOT work for ROGERS phones.

I went through the same thing about a month ago on mine... I eventually found the same file you did... it was a pain and since then if I've bricked I've flashed ultimate unbrick then flashed stock Rogers and it resolves my issue... I keep both saved on my computer now

Simple Fix...
Use. GTG's ultimate unbrick.

Follow the easy steps.
This will bring to how you bought the phone.
SECOND to all with BLACK screens.
Turn off the phone using power and volume up and down.
While plugging in the phone to the USB. Release power button.
This may take multiple tried, but you will get the download screen eventually.
Its all about timing.
YOUR PHONE CAN NOT BE BRICKED.
The down loader is not on the internal memory,
it is on a FLASH ROM separate from everything else.

People need to remember that not everyone is using AT&T Infuse, gotta clarify that before posting guides.
And yeah keep the stock rogers rooted rom on your desktop, comes in handy for a quick return to stock if anything goes wrong.

I can only boot into bootloader and then recovery. I can flash ROMs, restore, and do anything else you do in recovery, except afterwords when I choose reboot the phone just turns off and nothing happens and I can't boot into recovery for several minutes (during these minutes the phone has to be charging). I've been up for literally 5 hours, 1-6 am, trying to figure this out. Someone PLEASE help me. Seriously WILLING TO PAY for an answer that works.

Have you tried to flash a ics firmware and/or an other recovery or version of it?

Wrong section. Seeing as you can't follow rules I doubt you followed directions correctly when attempting to mess with your sister's sensation.

Okay, I followed the procedure to get S-Off, then installed recover, then flashed the ROM. After the ROM boot looped I realized I missed steps so I went back and tried to do them (PG58IMG and Super Wipe). After that I tried to flash the ROM again, and now I'm here. Occasionally, I'll get to the white HTC screen but that's as much luck as I've had.

[Q] Endless looping after installing dif modem

Hi
I succesfully installed the custom ics rom.
([Firmware][ICS]UNOFFICIAL CM9 for the Infuse 4G (04/23/2012)
everything went well and i was so excited
then i installed the modem CWM-UCKK1
now it doesnt boot to ics, just to cwm and it shows like a corrupted screen like this:

i ****ed it over, i tried installing the stock modems and modified ones too, but doesnt work, im so sad i did that.

How did you try install the modem ...?
oK your probably gonna have to start over...go back to stock and them put CWM back on this link will do that for you...just follow the op directions...and you should not have any issues...
