[Q] Anyone with Juice Defender and Root? - Motorola Atrix 2

I'm wondering if anyone with Juice Defender and the CPU speed control can tell me if it works well or not?
Also, anybody try the AOSP helper??

Oops I clicked the wrong button... oh well +1 to your thanks count
Anyways: I don't use Juicedefender because I think it reduced stability of my phone/doesn't defend its juice. However if you're looking for free CPU Sliders check out ROM Toolbox.

Yes it's definitely safe and stable. Make sure that you confirm that a certain setting works before selecting "Apply on boot" and you'll be fine.

All CPU's are different. Some phones will have no problem running at 1.6ghz. Some will. It's a trial and error thing.
If you are worried, start conservative and work your way up.
would you say that overclocking your phone is worth it? i know that it can really improve the performance of the phone... but it greatly decreases the battery life... and vice versa u can lower it and increase bat life n lower performance. im looking at opinions also thanks for the reply!!

I personally have the Infusion kernel running on my phone, which allows me to OC my device, but I don't want to. I've come across no normal instance when I've found that I needed the extra power. I mainly wanted it so that I could undervolt (UV) which improves battery life.
Adding a custom ROM and also adding voodoo (most ROM's have voodoo) will increase the performance of your phone.
I'm running Infusion 2.0 on Infused 1.5.3 right now (waiting for GB HDMI capabilities...thanks AT&T) and I'm loving it.

Launcher Pro is a homescreen alternative. You can change things up, add different transition effects.
For instance, my homescreen is attached.

Mikey passed out 1-2 MIUI builds as a proof of concept on IRC a while back, but it took the existing problems with CM7 (MIUI is layered over CM7) and added new ones, so it's on hold until more of the issues with base CM7 get fixed.

There's no way you took your device to 1.8 - our devices can't go past 1.6 without overclocking the system bus, and the system bus does NOT like to overclock. The best anyone has done was around 1664 MHz and it was unstable as hell for a lot of people.
Some versions of Infusion reported operating at 1.8, but that's because bedwa made some mistakes in his PLL calculations - he thought those settings would run the CPU at 1.8 but they actually ran it at around 1.55

fastest anyone has reported to have gotten a hummingbird legitamately that i have seen was a kernel for the fascinate that had a really goofy timing stucture and had problems with other hardware. they reported the cpu running @ 1.7ghz with the gpu and bus at some really goofy speeds and fluctuated as the cpu scaled. it looked like a total mess.
Really the highest most people can go is 1.6 stable, which is what I'm running at.

Depending on which governor you choose. Scary seems to really keep tabs on it well. I'm at 1900/245 and when I run Scary the battery doesn't run down at all. I'm not a fan of the performance though, as it is too slow to react sometimes. Still working on the others, so no solid opinions yet.

I don't see why you would underclock your phone that slow... 245 is way too slow for a phone made to run default at 1ghz. You'll have screen wake issues and uber response problems... duh.. I don't see why ppl turn their smartphones into expensive paperweights just so they can extend battery life. I'd rather have a phone that computes efficiently than one that doesn't even want to process. 600 MHz min is just fine.
Sent from my Triumph using Tapatalk
245 would be the minimum clock speed, not the maximum My guess is that when your phone is asleep, it would use as little resources as possible.

Greenify helps RAM out a bit, especially if you deal with the memory leak bug

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify
It works pretty well for me. Helps minimize the slow freezing up and the memory leaks I suffer from on the Atrix 2.
Requires root.
Let me know what you think. I really like what this has done for my phone.
I've tried this but it's the same for me. i prefer quarantine. But greenify has a better concept in terms of when you launch the app, it'll automatically wake up from hibernation while quarantine, you have to unlock it.

No, it will only go to hyson of you lock your screen for more that 4 minutes or simmering like that, of you just press your home button it will keep running until you lock your screen or it had been locked automatically.

If you use tasker (or llama if you like something simpler to use and free), you can set it to hibernate as soon as you turn off the screen - or delay it for as many seconds as you like such as 15 seconds after you turn off the screen. It also has a shorcut to run the hibernate-now function when you press on it.

1.Auto-hibernation runs after your phone sleeps for 5min.
2.Perceptible Apps will not hibernated automatically.
3.If No.2 doesn't work well with some apps, just degreenify them, or disable auto-hibernation.

Increasing battery life

Hi guys!
I was looking for ways to increase battery life.
As far as I know you can undervolt and decrese CPU speed
Undervolt does not affect performance but does increase temperature right?
Decrease CPU speed obviously decreases the speed of the phone.
Both these things can be achieved by using a custom kernel right? I heard of franco kernel as being the best for these things...
Any other ways of increasing battery life?
Cheers!

Why not try Franco first before starting to tweak. The kernel's default settings are reputedly optimal for that elusive balance between performance and battery life.

Yeah, give it a try. Since I installed it, the phone (and my N7, too) has become snappier, and battery life on standby is awesome (like 1-2%/hr). SOT, on the other hand, is still lamentable, even at dim levels. If you do go Franco, I recommend getting the FK updater app on the Play Store.

You can set up virtually any configuration with Franco. But, again, I suggest you try his default settings first. He put a lot into figuring it out, and his findings likely are the most reliable. I've never felt the need to customize the kernel any differently.
Some people, however, really like to mess around with the settings as a kind of hobby. I used to do so, and it's a lot of fun (and headaches). So, if you want to get into it, go for it. There are numerous apps you can use to tweak all those settings.

I noticed that by default it has 2 cores working and then uses the other 2 when required... This might sound stupid but did stock already do this?
Try greenify and xposed framework.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify‎
Im running the catalysm rom + franco kernel undervolted (which by the way decreases the temperature) and under clocked to 1728mhz. I also am using greenify + xposed. Finally I turn off location reporting, touch sounds, always scanning wifi and set location to "battery saving" mode. Without any gaming I get around 5hr of screen on time. Straight gaming gives me around 2.5hr of SOT. Usually I get around 4hr from my regular day. Any other tips for battery?

[Q] Trickster MOD doesn't stick.

Hi all,
I'm still a noob in android, and I would like some help with Trickster mod. I've been using cromi-x 5.x with hund's kernel and app for a while,
and without a doubt, awesome ROM, great kernel, great performance, but high battery draining.
I would like to try the latest that's kernel, I think it's v7, but with a little more juice, but I can't figure how to make the settings of trickster mod to stick.
I've set the cpu and gpu frequencies, apply them and tried rebooting with and without the grace period with the same results. Everything remains unchanged.
Can someone guide me step by step?
Thanks in advance.
Sorry for my poor English.

The kernel comes with CROMi install, so I guess it's 100% compatible.

What are you trying to set it to? You have 1.8 (or is it 1.6GHz) on performance and and 1.3GHz on balanced and 1GHz on PowerSaving. This is what I set the CPU profiles to in the rom.
I'm not sure trickster can change these.....

Before all, thanks for your great job on CROMi-X :good:. You rock man. I wish Asus could keep up with you.
For now I'm using hund's kernel and changed balanced to 1400GHz with is app. Like I said before, it runs great, but battery pays the bill.
I've tried _that v7, but sometimes it lags on some apps. What I would like, was to set it, also to 1400GHz, and see how it behaves with speed and battery.
In my experience in balanced mode hund's kernel is a lot faster than _that. Maybe because _that in balanced mode varies between 1200-1300GHz.
On the other hand _that is more battery friendly.
But every time I've tried changing it with Trickster nothing happens. Can Trickster do the job? Or it's not possible?
Thanks

Before all, thanks for your great job on CROMi-X :good:. You rock man. I wish Asus could keep up with you.

For all that I've read, _that is still developing for our tablet, and also I think is kernel is more battery friendly.

 Thanks for the kind words. No more the master than anyone else
I don't think that's kernel oc's the same way as hunds. You can go down but not up in trickster. The limit for balanced is 1.3 so you can't get to 1.4.
I have an idea though
Copy the cpu3.sh to cpu2.show in /system/etc
Then use trickster to knock the frequency down to 1.4. That should work

@sbdags...you pull it of again.:laugh:
Working like a charm, faster and smother than ever. Now trickster is working (limited cpu to 1400 GHz), my tablet flies in balanced mode, and battery is holding on just fine, better than with hund's kernel.
Like I've said before...you rock man.
Many thanks, and keep up with your excellent work :good:

Both files live in the /system/etc folder. You will need root access to do it.
Rename cpu3.sh to cpux.sh and then rename cpu2.sh to cpu3.sh and then rename cpuz.sh tp cpu3.sh. That way your balanced mode will now be performance. Then trickster can move the freq down
