I am interested to know if it is possible to copy the contents of a carrier GSM sim to an R-UIM card?
I have a CDMA phone with GSM capabilities and accepts R-UIM cards. I would like to use it with a SIM but for obvious reasons the phone doesnt read SIM cards, only UIM standards.
I would like to know if there are any methods to copy the GSM sim application of a carrier SIM to the GSM portion of a UIM card.
I am by no means knowledgable on Smartcards so if this question is idiotic, please forgive me.

Hello all
i have a verizon 3g xoom. it's not upgraded yet. i live outside us
about the UK 3g xoom, can it operate 2g sim card? for sms, gprs or ...
how about normal 3g sim cards?
is there any hardware difference between mine and uk one?
may i operate my 2g sim card on my xoom? how about 3g?
when i put sim card nothing happen. i just tried 2g sim card
our 3g operator is not started selling sim cards ... but we have 4g operator.

how about this thread? i've done that but dont work for me. there is no signal, i think it didnt recognized my sim card.
if i install the mini-pci-e card that motorola installs on xoom during upgrade, can i use sim card for 2g/3g ? (sms or internet)
i have found this : "If you bought your Xoom from Verizon, it will have no SIM card slot. Verizon's CDMA network doesn't use SIM cards. Also, if you bought the Verizom model, it will only work on Verizon, and not another carrier. There is also a WiFi-Only Xoom, and it does not have a SIM slot."
here : "http://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/53440/Why+I+can%27t+find+3G+SIM+Slot+in+my+Motorola+Xoom"
but mine have sim slot with a plastic sim on it.
The Verizon 3G Xoom does have a sim card slot but no hardware inside to read the sim card. That is what the 4G upgrade was for, to install the hardware necessary to utilize the sim card for the Verizon 4G LTE network.
I don't know if anyone has gotten a Verizon Xoom working on any other carriers network.
Theres pix of the inside of my Uk3g Zoom somewhere...
Hi all!
After i upgraded LTE card form Motorola, I use the 3G GSM sim card but the notify show " The Sim Card unknown source". How to use the GSM SIM card ?
Thanks and best regads,
Can't, LTE Xoom is still CDMA, not GSM.
I have an unlocked D2G,
it's fine with GSM sim cards, but I wonder if it can use other CDMA/WCDMA SIM cards?
There are no CDMA SIM cards. They're called RUIM cards. The D2G does not support RUIM cards.
WCDMA is GSM.

I think there are CDMA SIMs.
The Asia Pacific Telecom (Taiwan) uses CDMA2000, and they use SIM cards.
Because I would like to switch to it, I need to know if D2G support CDMA SIMs or not.

Repeating. Because apparently you don't understand what you are talking about.
The D2G only supports USIM. USIM is Universal Subscriber Identity Module; it's a piece of software that runs inside the UICC (Universal Integrated Circuit Card).
USIM is stored on the UICC cards made for GSM.
CSIM (CDMA Subscriber Identity Module) is stored on the UICC cards made for CDMA. The previous generation of hardware (smartcards) used for this purpose is called RUIM.
CDMA carriers that use UICC/RUIM cards do not support USIM, only CSIM. It's impossible to use pure USIM cards with CDMA due to the differences in USIM and CSIM software. Vice versa, pure CSIM cards cannot be used with GSM.
Although an UICC can include both CSIM and USIM, the D2G does not support CSIM and RUIM. It only supports USIM on UICC.
Please re-read this again in case you still want to ask if it supports “CDMA SIM cards”.
i bought a Us Cellular phone off ebay and since it has a sim card slot, i assumed it would work with my gsm sim card. it didnt. my question is that is it possible to flash it from being cdma to work with a gsm sim.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. Generally it is not possible. Whether it is cdma or gsm is hardware dependent.
