I keep my contacts synced with google so they are there as soon as I sync my google account to the phone.

You can use gmail sync in your settings to put your contacts in your phonebook.

That's the best option right there. Assuming you have been keeping your gmail contact list nice and clean.

Phone numbers in phone moved to google

I have phone numbers on my phone that aren't linked to google sync so when I load a new rom, I lose them. How do I move a contact from "phone" to "google". And please don't say sync because it doesnt
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
U have to save each one separate. Open contact edit save to Google. Should work. It's a known issue with the tbolt syncing new contacts to google
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
I don't see a save to google option
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
OK when u add a contact the first option is contact type. Make sure that's google
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Even easier still.
1. On computer of choice log into google mail
2. Click contacts and add, update and save.
3. ???
4. Profit
Transfer them all from your address book on your pc to google contacts in your email account. They should all sync automatically then. I saved all my contacts from outlook and then imported them in a .vcf file. Google it, is really easy to do.

Go to contacts.
Menu>import/export
Export to SD
Export from phone

Import to Google
(At least, that's the easy way... ;-) )

Contacts in AOKP

I have a lot of contacts synced with gmail, but most of them are emails and i don't need them in my phones contacts. How do i delete multiple contacts at once?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
Don't remember if you can do a batch select (I've only done it once and for the same reason) but you need to log in to gmail from a computer and edit the contracts from there. Also I believe in contacts settings you can set it to show only contacts with phone numbers.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA
Like eb says using a computer you can edit the contacts. What I would do is setup groups and only sync the various groups with phone numbers.
Thanks guys, but i tried something else. I installed go contacts ex and then did a batch delete of all the contacts i don't want

Wait, couldn't you just have go into options on your phone and choose to hide e-mails?

Don't have that option. And i have one more problem. How do i sync all my Facebook contacts. When i was on gb and installed Facebook, the first screen would all if i wanted to sync all my contacts, sync with existing contracts, or don't sync at all. But now i don't see and can't find that screen

This works well for syncing fb contacts. You can choose all contacts or existing in the settings https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ro.weednet.contactssync

Open app drawer select People, then menu contacts to display, customize. Select your facebook account and it will show a box for all contacts if that isnt checked then it is only syncing with existing contacts. If you select your gmail account you will have the option to sync all the groups individually.
It says no contacts. There's no way to get to that screen on the Facebook app that asks how youwant to sync the contracts?

Clear all data log out and uninstall the app. Reboot your phone re-install the app. If that doesnt bring the option up then its go forever.
Maybe?

Found this. I haven't tried it since I'm at work doing a 24 hr shift. Figured I would let people know what I found. I plan to give a try after I get some sleep. If anyone gives it a go could you please let us know how it goes?

Contacts showing multiple only when searching

As the screen shots below show when im using the contacts its fine (1 contact per name) but when i search for a specific person 6 or more contacts show up for that name. I wouldnt mind this but when i save a new number say from a text message and try to add it to the exsisting its like a guessing game which one to put it under because only 1 shows up under contacts normally. If i add it to the first one it says saved but then going into contacts its never there.
Stock 4.0.4 rooted.

I have run into this. You more than likely have more than one account syncing your contact (google, samsung, verizon?) To get rid of the contacts (multiple) Sync them to only one account, delete all contacts, then resync. Hope this helps.

When you have multiple accounts syncing the phone can't always reconcile small differences. If you long press on a contact you can join it to another one manually. It's been something I've had to do since I let Facebook sync.

What's the best way to save contacts?

Every time I flash a rom I seem to lose contacts that I saved. Weird thing is its not the entire phone book its the newer contacts. Any help would be appreciated..
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
they should be synced to your google account
Is there any way to see what's there or sync what I have currently? Forgive me for the dumb question..
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Seriously, that's one of the main things with Android: it syncs all your stuff to Google. Your contacts ought to be restored every time you sign in after flashing. You must have syncing disabled in Settings if this isn't happening. Do it before you flash next time.
Went in settings and synced every option in my Google account.. Interesting that some contacts say Google and some say phone.. Thanks for the replies..

Best way to keep your contacts organized is to everything from the computer and then hit refresh on your phone, same thing with the calender i do it from the computer
You can also just use a an app such as titanium backup to backup your contacts and apps.

For reals?
It's a backup app that you can use to restore all of your applications after flashing. I have the paid version and sync all of my backups to my google drive. Probably the most useful app for a ROM flasher. You should check it out!
I haven't seen anyone do this but its my favorite and easiest method. I save all my contacts to a .vcf file on the root of my ad card by going to contacts/menu/manage contacts/export to phone storage. Then when I flash a Rom I immediately go to contacts/menu/import contacts. And it automatically looks for that .vcf file and flashes Ur contacts.

And whenever I add a New contact I just delete that file and re-export contacts to phone storage.

Just login to Gmail on your PC/Mac, and see if your contacts are there.
As long as the phone is set to sync to Google (Settings>Accounts & sync) it should be backing up your contacts to your Gmail account as default, no other actions required.
