I've had my fuze since november and yesterday the strangest thing started happening. My phone is warm to the touch and the battery lasts less then an hour. It doesn't appear to fully charge, since the charging animation nevers ends, even if the phone reports the battery is at 100%.
i have:
Done a hard reset
flashed back to stock radio
flashed back to stock rom
and the issue still persists. Right now it is sitting on my desk discharging, soon to reach 0 again.
The best solution is to do a backup and get a replacement.

i just called ATT, getting a battery sent to me. I doubt it's the battery. But if that doesn't work, then they will send a replacement. The representative says "it's cheaper to send a battery then a phone."
I've started to see something a bit curious. I charge my phone all night, then get up and head to the office, when I get to the office, I notice that the phone is hot, my battery level has fallen to 80%, then about another 30 minutes and it's down to 65% and then starts to cool off. I've had it just sitting on my desk and it will do this very consistently after charging, it just gets hot and drains itself till it gets to 60% or so, then it goes back to normal and cools off.
Anyone else seen this happen?
This happened to me, I had to send mine in for repairs (I have the original touch pro, not the fuze)
Repair details said something about a mainboard issue, and they replaced the mainboard in my unit. Everythings been working fine since. I'd suggest you get it replaced/repaired and take a very careful look at what you're using to charge your device. I messed mine up using a ****ty 3rd party charger which wasnt really designed for the touch pro.
I have been having problems with my battery life pretty much since I have had this phone. I downloaded spare parts app to give me some insight because I have also noticed several times phone seems warm even when screen has been off for some time.
As of right now today, to give an example, my phone has been unplugged for the last 10hours and I only have 44% battery left. Says display is responsible for 71% of battery use yet screen has only been on for 44min of that time (and I have the brightness turned all the way down). According to spare parts "other usage" my "running" time is cause for 35% of batter use at over 3hours.
With these things in consideration I feel that there is something that is stopping the phone from properly sleeping due to the phone being warm at times display has been off for a while and the contrast between screen on and running time. Partial wake usage doesn't show much running under it as most listed items have only a sliver of a bar showing.
Can someone please lend me some guidance on how to further troubleshoot this problem?
i mean that type of battery consumption doesnt seem irregular to me...im at close to 10 hours for the day and have 59% left.
Are you in a shaky signal area? Thats one reason my phone gets warm. especially if its a fringe area where it cant decide between a 3G signal or 4G signal.
In spare parts there is a option for partial wake lock. If something is stuck at 100%, then you know you yuo have a rogue app thats causing your phone not to sleep
But can you confirm it being normal to see 34% time running under other usage settings for spare parts? Partial wake usage as said doesn't show much keeping a wake lock going.
As for signal, not too sure, very rarely if ever see a 3g change over. Is usually at 4g and occassionally hitting edge.
WOW, you get that good of battery out of yours? that seems epic haha, i get 3-4 hours tops.. i mean i abuse it, but still..
I charge mine at night. Ran it from 7am to 12am and it was at 34%.
Yeah see...7am to 12am and 34% remaining? No way I get that.
If it werent for the results I'm posting regarding "running" percentage from spare parts other usage and the screen on time I would just accept it as a phone deemed to have bad battery life, but it seems to me like something is going on and I guess I'm looking for someone to confirm or dismiss my suspicions.
Maybe I'm also a little spoiled coming off my G2 that was rooted running CM Rom and CPU ramping/cut down which in combination gave me, under the same amount of use, a situation where I was getting home at night and still having 40-50% battery left in comparison to the 15% I commonly see now.

once some custom kernels come out that let you uv/uc/oc then i would say you can expect the same type of results..i just went on a trip with a friend who has a g2 and he was constantly crying about his battery dying, (stock), where as I only had to charge mine on average 1.5 times a day with moderate to heavy usage. I find this battery phenomenal compared to all the other android devices ive owned and tested
damn!
i charge mine every other day.. hehehe i dont abuse it or anything though.. just regular internet every few minutes or so.. i have the BETA juicedefender installed guess that helps a lot. data is off when the screen is off, set it to agressive..
here is the app hope it helps...
I noticed the same problem,i brought this phone on saturday and was very impressed with the battery until yesterday night I noticed the same thing, my phone was at 50% and I had it sleeping then I get the battery low notification 10 minutes later and the back of the phone was real hot. This can't be normal cuz I have the same apps installed from 2 days ago and I was using the phone heavily even using mobile ap and still didn't have this problem, if you guys find a solution please share it with me.
After logging the temperature for a few days I've noticed a direct correlation between phone temperature and battery life. The phone drains 1% every 3-4 minutes when its at or above 35. when its around 27° or lower it only drains about 5% per hour... I'm having an issue however. Today my phone was extremely hot. Right under 40° all day... with the screen off 90% of the time. Tonight I'm doing a test I've removed the back cover and its nowhere close to as hot as it was.before. I'm starting to think the battery cover is too close to the battery and internals thus causing overheating issues. I love this phone but I may try to swap it out for another while I still can. Has anyone else noticed similar issues? I'm underclocked at 800mhz screen brightness 10%. Does at&t charge a restocking fee if I return it?

well there must be a big current draw for it too get hot. android has a bug that shows up occasionally where the radio consumes large amounts of power. also 2.3.3 has a similar bug where the system wont sleep, this should only effect gingerbread but it may just be more frequent in gingerbread.
check battery usage in settings>about phone. if anything other than the display is over 50% there is a problem. if it is android system then shut it down and pull the battery for a few minutes, start it back up. if it is the cell radio then put it in airplane mode for a minute and take it out of airplane mode.
removing the cover may help it stay cool but there isnt enough heat there to cause battery drain, instead the cause of the battery drain must also be the source of the heat.
was almost thinking bout buying this phone as its very hot in africa this could burn my hands
I am on my second Infuse.
My first one had battery charging issues, and compare to the current one it was also a battery hog. I did not put two and two together until the current one i have, but the first one would get hot around the camera area with just streaming slacker while browsing the web.
I exchanged it like 4 days after i got it due to it taking 6.5 hours to charge from 5% to 100%.
I just had the same issue... it was down to 10% so I put it on the charger... 3 hours later I looked back and its barley on 40%. It took 7 hours to fully charge last night. Something isn't right. Now my screen is completely set to off and I'm underclockong and its gone from 24° to 39° in 5 minutes.

please check the battery usage in about phone. if anything other than the screen is around 50% there is a problem, the solution may be as easy as starting airplane modeand turning it off
Have to charge almost twice a day... I believe it happened after latest 1.45.531.1 update....
Disabled all animation, got auto adjust for display, disabled all what I could.. Still gives me 12 -16 hours on standby only....NOT even using the phone!!!!
Does anyone have something like that??? Or there is some remedy I skipped?
Sorry if I repeat someone's question.
Running full stock, HTC battery.
Thanks in advance!!
Tester.
PS. Recently exchanged the phone.... First one R.I.P......died completely, didn't even charge.
Is there a chance they swapped a refurbished one on me??? How to find out???
can you provide a screenshot of the battery usage graph? also, have you tried getting an aftermarket, bigger battery such as the anker?
I was the same way as you. I checked my battery graph, and standby was using something like 80% of the battery with almost everything turned off. By the time I got home from work I would need to charge it immediately. I bought one of the Anker batteries on Amazon for $15 bucks or so, and I'm now getting about 2 days for a charge. I don't know what it was with my battery, because it sounds like my experience wasn't typical, but I didn't really feel like going through HTC when I could just pay the $15.
I'm with ya...
This phone was running PERFECT prior to the HTC update. Now I'm having a plethora amount of problems, including the battery. For example, prior to the update I would get 13-16 hours on HEAVY usage... Moderate usage? Try a day or day in a half. Now take today for example, I unplugged my phone a little before 7am and I had 20 something percent 4 hours later.
I'm telling you, that HTC update really messed this phone up IMO.
Thanks, guys!!
Will try to get Anker battery, I believe it's 1900 mAh.
But again something running on the background with that update. We'll see.
I'll try to get the graph, maybe someone'll get some sense of it...
Much appreciated,
Tester.
here are the battery stats...
Display..........74%
Cell standby...13%
Phone idle......11%
Voice calls......2%
THAT'S IT!!! Nothing else is running...... SUX...
Still gives 12 - 16 hours of life on almost idle......
I hate to say it,but if you're battery's dying a lot faster after an update,a bigger battery won't help much.
I'd be getting in touch with HTC and ask them what the heck is going on.
Really annoyed with the battery performance. I checked and only display is using 90% of battery. Tried everything to reduce it but no change.

I've had the same issue since the update. My battery drains at a ridiculous rate. I've become really frustrated with the phone since. I rooted it and flashed a custom ROM in hopes of solving the problem but it's the same deal.
I've confirmed it's not the battery either since I've got another one I've tried and only get the same results. Even with Juice Defender running I get nowhere as great a battery life as I did before the update
I'm doing decent 8hrs 20,mins on batt. With 40% left mostly text and internet browsing

Try clicking the graph at the top of the screen it will give you another screen that shows awake/screen time etc. Is your phone going to sleep when you screen turns off?
I was having the same problem and realized that some app was keeping my phone awake even though the screen was off. I uninstalled 80% of the crap I had installed and now my phone sleeps like it should and battery lasts amazingly long time.

How can you tell if your phone is going to sleep when you lock the screen? What is a good method for this? And if I find it its not sleeping when it should, is there a way to find the culprit easily?

Click on the graph in battery stats, it should show awake time and screen on. If your awake time is constant when the screen on time isn't, then chances are you've got an bad app somewhere preventing the phone from sleeping
my battery life was plain **** on 2.3.3., device was running hot all the time (=waste of energy), charging took ridiculous 4h+! When I took it off at the charger around 23:00 the battery was dead at 14:00 the next day with most time being idle!
Since my update to 2.3.4 things got so much better. charging takes around 2h and battery finally lasted a whole day and had 40% juice left in the evening.
Since I got my 2 Ankers+charger for 20$, battery life is crazy now. Been on one charge for 2d2h and still had 16% left. Pushmail on, wifi on (cellular data only when not at home), brigthness at 100%, taking video, pictues and some navigation, messaging and phonecalls. Oh yeah and a few minutes of flashlight use
I would say between slight and medium use.
If 2.3.4 worsened your batterylife, contact HTC or your vendor.
I now replaced the battery at 16% with the other Anker because I still need to do my 5 charge cycles on that one to calibrate it.
Here's an example of the graph. At the bottom you can see awake and screen on time. I pulled phone of charger last night, did some browsing, then ran for an hour with music playing in the background (you can see the small green bar on awake even when screen is off). After I surfed a little and left it off the charger when I went to bed. The phone is properly sleeping when the screen is off and almost 16 hours and still have 62%.
Before I uninstalled the apps, the awake time was solid green across the screen.
Anker battery worked wonders on my device. Before I would have to throw it on the charger after lunch as I like to go for a beer after work and the stock battery would never make it that far... Now when I get home from the bar I still have ~30% battery. Anker battery FTW!
flash a custom rom and u will go gaga over ur battery life. definitely works for me. on standby overnight drain 0-1%.
I found out that if you don't have strong signal at your location your battery drains pretty fast that's why I always connect my phone to WiFi at my apartment where my phone looses signal sometimes. now I lose just 1-2% of power during a night.
Sorry to hear about your battery troubles. A couple days ago I rooted and switched to "Android Revolution HD 3.0.4" and my battery life seems pretty solid. I wasn't having battery life issues prior to this though.
I'm currently in the process of calibrating the battery:
- drain it mostly
- turn off
- plug it in overnight while still off
- in the morning unplug, wait 15 minutes, replug for a few hours; do this ONLY ONCE or you may damage the battery
- power on, immediately go to recovery, advanced, reset battery stats
- start normally
- drain battery until it shuts down; a continuous stress test or stability test app is probably ideal
- once it shuts off, turn it on again to double-check that it's dead; it should only come on for a second or two
- while off, plug in and allow to fully charge; no fooling around with plugging/unplugging, just normal
- calibration complete!
I think you can follow a similar procedure (minus clearing battery stats) to refresh the battery calibration even without rooting/custom recovery. I've read the effectiveness is similar. The phone just needs to be retaught what "full" and "empty" mean, all in one charge cycle. If you calibrate it wrong you could have issues with it shutting off while still reading ~15% battery life.
Anyway, as I said, I'm in the process of doing this. Currently I'm in the "drain it" phase... with my screen at maximum brightness (remaining on), overclocked to 1.5 ghz, I've been running "StabilityTest" (from market) for one hour and fifteen minutes. It stresses both cores as well as the RAM. At this time, my battery is at around 30-40% or so, and it's getting really hot! The phone's temperature is reading as 54.8 degrees!
Also, yesterday I used the GPS for about 4 hours before it died, this was prior to any calibration attempt. I think this is within typical battery life considering that the screen stays on.
TL;DR: Maybe you just need to try a custom rom or recalibrate your battery. Miscalibrated battery can be caused by flashing/updating a rom, I imagine even when it's an OTA. Sense is crippling your phone anyway, you might as well give it a try IMHO.
get yourself an anker battery..I havent charged my phone since the day before and now i have 20% left! heavy usage

As of maybe a couple of months, my phone shuts off almost immediately after getting to 20% it turns off and when plugged starts charging from 16% or so. Any idea what may be causing this and how to fix it?
I have the same issue mate. It happened twice for me. Was using Snapchat and the battery drained down to 19% and then it suddenly showed 0% and the phone shut down. And then after I charged it for a bit, it showed around 20%
I have same problem here, guess factory reset might helps.
Same issue on my friend's Honor 8.
Mine turns off at random percentages. Sometimes it happens at 20%, 10% and most recently 67%. I'm wondering if changing the battery would fix the issue
same issue here disappeared for like 2 months and it happened today
This suddenly happened to me today, I was using Snapchat and I took a pic, was writing a caption to send to my friends and all of a sudden it dropped to 0% and shut off, even though it was already at low battery I know It still had enough life for me to be able to send the snap and listen to music. What sucks is that I didn't look at the battery percentage before It turned off but when I turned it back on it was at 13%, even though when I tried turning it on from before it kept telling me 0% and shutting off repeatedly
i noticed that when i plugged in the charger and checked the recents all the apps opened were showing up.....looks like its doing soft reboot but cant complete the reboot......smh!!!
Same problem here

Rooted stock
I realize that it happens when it's really cold outside. It happened to me a second time today when I was outside in the cold, so I guess the phone turns off to prevent anything from happening internally, because it shut off at around 50% of battery and when I turned it back on it wasn't 0% like it had told me
I'm switching out the battery today I'll let you guys know if it fixes the issue
No root till now fully stock.
Well replacing the battery fixed the issue. I also deleted battery stats once it was charged to 100%
Same issue here. My device goes from 20% to 1% in about 2 seconds. And then when i charge the phone, it shows charging from 19%. It happens all the time.
Hi, had same but my first time died when I was flying drone with it, it was at 17% of bat. I was so nervous that I lose my drone that I forgot to check what was the problem with bat. Now when I was trying to film my daughter skiing after 2min outside of my pocket it turned off although bat. was at 78% and tem. outside was -3*C. Yesterday I've send it on warranty, I let you know what they say (if anything). Mine H8 is stock no root.
Wander is there any app than can check number of cycles of battery, this way I will know for sure if Service replaced battery or only told that it was replaced

Yes, they replaced battery, screen and frame, actually they only left old back panel and MB. Screen was replaced because of dead pixels (but I didn't saw any before). After a year, I think I have same issue with battery again but this time no warranty anymore ;(
