Most stable ICS rom for NS4G - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

can I have your guys opinions on which ICS rom is the most stable/reliable?

Latest vhgomez with sprint ota kernel. No bells and whistles but definitely most stable and best battery. Can't wait till devs start to play with this kernel.

I'm actually using this right now and its pretty good

I have had zero issues with vhgomez's builds, AOKP Milestone 2, and now Apex. All rock solid.

bixie rom (apex) v1.0.0 + matr1x kernel v.16 rocks for me!

At the moment its got to be the LOTA vgomez 4.0.4 matrix 14.5 colors

AOKP M3 w/ Sprint OTA Kernel has been incredibly stable for me, with great battery as well. gonna try matrix 16 and see how that goes.

There is no other room more stable than stock.
I have used 1.2 kernels and different roms and the only place that you can see a difference is on Quadrant test, in real life use I don't notice a damn difference from stock speed.
My friend have Bionix 1.2 on his NS and his phone is more faster then my NS
MoDaCo gets the best battery life, the bionix 1.3 beta isn't too stable and to be honest 1.2 isn't my cup of tea, cyanogenmod is in nightlies still but its very stable and its what both my wife and I run, plus there are a few others I haven't tried. For kernels I definitely recommend netarchy 1.2.1 as it has the amazing voodoo sound mod plus its the most stable I've used. Just my two cents.

netarchy 1.2.1 + stock rom works pretty good IMO
CM7 Nightlies are surprsing stable and Cyan Fast.
Thanks to all for the reply

Thank you all for the help
Using Bionix 1.3 Beta and also Netarchy 1.2.2
Battery life is better than stock. Unless clearing battery statsstats in cwm make such a massive difference.

I would recommend bionix 1.2 or the 1.3 beta release. I was on 1.2 and its fantastic...really fast and stable. Updated to 1.3 beta with no problems.
Ive tried cyanogen and modacco...both good also but i prefer bionix for now. They all seem well stable and fast tho.

Hello all. What's the best and most stable ROM for the Nexus S at the moment? Or should I wait a while?

They are all very stable and each possess desirable qualities. I would suggest trying them until you find the one that suits you the best.

stock rom, and experimenting with GLaDOS and netarchy kernel
I'm using Slim ICS 3.4 (based on 4.0.4) right now and it is great with all the customizing it allows, other than the short battery life. Fast Charge and LCD Density change is wonderful to have.
Before that, I was on NexusBeam 2.3.4 with GLaDOS 2.9 kernel and battery life seemed to be a lot better.. will probably go back to it shortly.
ICS CM9 4.0.4 v7. v19 CFS Matr1x Kernel. Battery life without doing anything: 30 hrs
Androdxide 2.0 and Kernel 3.1.10-ICUP.
cm9 v6 + airkernel 4.0! 1 day and 18 hours with some phone calls, texting, e-mails, wifi many hours, youtube, etc.
slim ics 3.1 + air kernel 4 is so far doing good for me in battery life and performance

[Q] Whats your ROM & Kernel?!

Just want to know what people are running on their phones. Im a flash freak and flash roms practically everyday, but i really want to find a rock solid, stable rom and kernel i can stick to.
Thanks in advance.

Still GB?
ROM : Mandaman2k ROM based on Peter Alfonso
Kernel : Matr1x
At the moment i am using Brickmakers MIUI 2.3.3 with Matr1x 16.0
I'm also using GPA 19 ... rock solid.
Now using Bugless Beast by Pete Alfonso, but I'm waiting until nexus Sense has got data! Than I probably will move to Nexus Sense! I'm running on the stock kernel, but Nexus Sense will run on Matr1x 11.5!! Bit old, but newer versions are for ICS.. Nexus Sense is on 2.3.3 at the moment... bit bad, but okay!
Greetzz, Jojoost.
Sent from my Nexus S running on Bugless Beast by Pete Alfonso!
ROM: GummyNex 0.7.0
KERNEL: Matr1x 15.5
Stable, smooth, battery full >50hrs.
Brickmakers MIUI 2.3.3 with Eugene Speedy 7
ROM : ICS Peter Alfonso
Kernel : Matr1x v15.5 (v16 does not have deep idle )
Slim ICS v2.4 Alllll the way (with stock kernel, that is speedy 7)
Pete crespo 4g nightly 02/09 with Glados v2.10.
Thinking of going back to gpa19 or cm7.1.0.1.

I've always gotten good battery life from Pete's roms. I do alot of internet stuff, as well as the normal few calls and texts during the day. I have no problem going an entire 15 hour day without hitting the charger.
Wow, that pretty good battery life. Ill be sure to give it a go. Thanks everyone for there input helped a great deal.
Cyber-GR mod v7 with Matr1x kernel 15.5. Its stable, smooth and fast (at 200-1200 mhz smartass v2). That's my main ROM & Kernel, but I'm always trying out new roms.
The new 4.0.3 MIUI roms werent impressive to me. Not smooth, and fast enough :/.
AOKP Milestone 3 with SG's 2/05 kernel. Pretty rock solid in terms of battery life and stability and overall smoothness .

Now nuherti 2.2 and speedy7.
Will test later with matrix 16.5 and new sg kerbel

The ThunderBolt probably won't see any fully working ICS ROMs until an official/leaked update is released with a working ICS RIL.
I'm patiently waiting for ICS on the thunderbolt. Until then, I'm really digging the express sense Rom
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA
There's no word on an ICS update eta. Unable to figure our the ril for data on ICS, the developers are stuck until source is released. The fastest I've ever overclocked my bolt to is 1.9, but 1.9 runs unstable on most setups, and 1.2-1.4 is more reasonable and stable. Thunderstick full blown with imoseyon's most recent mr4 kernel flies, and can be overclocked to 1.9 and remain fluid, I don't recommend any OCing beyond 1.2-1.4 on TB though. Thundershed with imoseyon's most recent aosp kernel is really fast too.

Bugless Beast Pixel Edition + Franco Kernel.
As a noob who has tried many combo, this is most stable and fast.

I use Brainmaster's CM9 with Matrix 19.0
Its very stable, and pretty smooth.
I've used CyberGR v10, but i prefer Brainmaster's Rom over his. (had a lot of issues with his Rom)

it means that your phone cant handle the 1.44ghz cpu oc and 240mhz(20%) bus/gpu oc. not many phones can. every phone is different. some can oc high, some not so high, and some not at all. unfortunately, even though its the same phone, they can vary widely in performance.
aokp + matr1x
+1 derek.
AOKP build33 with Matr1x
AOKP B32 with air kernel. Runs quite nice. Although battery lasts only about 12h. On b31 with matr1x kernel I reached 15+h on my i9023 but it got unstable due to liveoc.
I like aokp a lot, but I am not sure about which is the best kernel. I think with the next milestone I will do a systematical test series.
