Has the source code for the att gingerbread kernel been released yet? And who can maybe work on compiling the new kernel? Ive contacted a few people but no answer... Does anyone have an old computer with ubuntu on it so maybe they can learn how to do it?

one thread would do.

[REQUEST] Any kernel builders want to build a kernel for 2.3.4?

I've never compiled a kernel and was hoping one of you experienced kernel compilers would build a kernel for LG's "stock" 2.3.4 with overclocking ability. Also, I understand in the kernel there is a way to fix the FFC inversion issue (other devices have had same problem and people fixed with a kernel updae); but I have no idea how to do it. If you just want to steer me in the right direction I could attempt to build the kernel myself also. I have JDK and Eclipse installed on my computer.
hey man i just wanted to share this with you

im pretty sure you can find a way to get a kernel this way and compile it.
i just downloaded a bunch of neat stuff from nvidia (android dev kit) and the sdk from google to adb and crap.
i didnt think it would have to come to this because this because of the phones unlocked bootloaders and such, but it doesnt look like the devs are really into this phone because of nvidia's lack of action. Im just gonna have to learn how to tweak this thing on my own.
hope this helps

[Q] ICS Source released, anyone have plans to build a rom off it?

Ok, so ICS has been publicly released, just wondering if anyone knows if any devs are planning on using it in a rom soon?
Also if any dev reads this, I have two Inspires, and if you need a tester I would be your man for any ICS project.

OK well sense you didn't want to search let me drop a little knowledge on you. With ICS android will no longer be able to run on any device as is. It will need proprietary drivers for the device from the OEM or open source replacement drivers that have been modded to work for each device. So it is this simple. We wait for a device to get ICS so we can get working HTC drivers. (Hope the device is close to the inspire or it won't work) or we wait for open source drivers. The soonest we will see an ICS rom will be in about 2 months when CM plans to release its first ICS roms.
Please search before opening a new thread.

[Q] [DEV Q]Android source compile question

So Im really just getting into Android development. Learning all I can made a couple basic apps. I am a bit more interested in ROM and Kernel development. My general question is. Making a ICS ROM for Xoom is difficult not because compiling the source itself is difficult but because there isnt a publicly available ICS kernel for Xoom yet right? Or am I completely off base here?
Yup thats more or less correct. Only device files for the nexus line have been released with ICS so far. And since android needs to be built for a specific device you need the device specific files including things like drivers.
It's the stage where i get stuck as well, currently going trough the motodev website to find things like drivers and or any other Xoom specific files. I'm guessing team Tiamat is hacking it together themselves currently because they have the knowlegde of how to build kernels and stuff and can start with their HC base to see what works.

AOSP Kernel Port Q&A

Bryan's asked users several times not to clutter up his thread. Ask questions about it here.
Development thread (which means that if you're not submitting bugs or adding to the development of the AOSP kernel, you should post here!)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629041
This is a big project he's working on that is geared toward benefiting all the users who will use his kernel and use his code as base for other kernels! Don't piss off the devs!
Thanks FB!
The thread is currently locked, so even if you wanted to post...
This is the place to ask questions. Do it
Coming up to my second week and trying my damnedest to stay away; I ran into another life speed bump. It's not a big deal, but I'm probably not going to return to xda and dev as quickly as I had expected.
Luckly I was able to save my wip from my build box at work (prior employer now ).
Working now on updating arch/arm herring code in our kernel has no difference to the aosp gingerbread branch and moving our code out of the aries files and into the herring equivalent. Hopefully after this part is done and bootable, I can start moving code over to the aosp branch and doing builds from the aosp branch. Then off to milestone 3 and getting other drivers over and scrubbed.
It will be nice if BML (fsr/rfs) still work, but we still have sdcard and mtd.

[Q] Source code help

I understand the general concept of compiling from source, but would like someone to help me out with a few things that aren't necessarily covered in guides that i have found. I wanna compile jbsourcery made for vzw galaxy nexus(toro) and "port" it to the sprint nexus(toroplus). I don't really understand how to get the device/vendor files for the sprint nexus and use them in the source code. Any help with this would be appreciated:fingers-crossed:
You would've got more help on this in the Android development section.
sent from my Infuse running UnOfficial CM10 Jelly Bean. You Jelly bro?
