Hey all, I just noticed that the official Powermat back battery door for the MT4GS is on sale at T-Mobile for ten bucks. You'll still need the actual Powermat charger, which goes for $20-30 online. The website also charges shipping and sales tax, FYI. But still a good price:

great find, is it only in black?
These are highly worth the money, it charges the phone much faster and is nice to not "plug" my phone in..
Got one for xmas and works amazing..

my battery door just **** the bed, so this is a godsend!
Case that fits?
I just got the PowerMat and battery door when I upgraded on Saturday. I love it, but I can't find a case that will fit over the slighty larger than normal battery door. Has anyone else had luck finding something that works?
Where's the best place to get a single position mat? Best price?

I looked around Amazon a little bit and saw plenty of single-position mats for a particular device, usually including the receiver door for that device, for under $10. (You know, for a device that you don't have. ) Here is one example (for BlackBerry Bold 9700): http://www.amazon.com/Powermat-Position-Charging-BlackBerry-Receiver/dp/B00462QB4C
It looks like these mats have a custom indentation to hug the back of the device, so it's unlikely to be a perfect fit. Also, if you device doesn't fit into the indentation, it might not charge.
But ... cheap! Most of these are not Amazon Prime eligible, so it costs another few bucks for shipping.

I'm sort of inspired by this thread to try hacking some powermat chargers for some other phones where the receiver is still expensive or there just isn't a receiver. If you search around, you can find some reports of folks who have done this with varying degrees of aesthetic sensibility in the results.
One idea, that I kind of like a lot, is to use the Palm Pre charging "Touchstone" as the transmitting mat. Because the Palm Pre was kind of a dud in the marketplace, the Touchstones are available for pretty cheap. Here's an example at Amazon for under $5, including shipping: http://www.amazon.com/Palm-Touchstone-Charging-Dock-Pre/dp/B002CMEIWK. One hitch with the Touchstone is that it uses a couple of magnetic thingies to activate it (and, I guess, hold the device in place). I'm sure one could deal with that somehow.
Thanks for the last post.
Alright, I'm totally confused. I took a look on Amazon earlier this week, but without confidence in the mat actually working with the device perfectly, I decided to check out what was in stores.
I go to Best Buy and couldn't find them. I asked an associate and they said that they no longer are carrying PowerMats because of the shorting out risk.
Ummmmmmm, okay....
I go to Radio Shack and the associate there starts talking to me about two different types and how one doesn't charge fully all the time and that kills your battery over time and the other involves walking around with a "puck" on your phone.
What the hell is everyone talking about??? I thought these were pretty good and I'm reading nothing but nice reviews online, with the exception of the expense. Frankly, at $10 plus shipping for the case, I no longer care about the expense.
Thoughts????
I don't know anything definitive about most of that. From poking around today, I've deduced a few things (none of which involved "shorting out" ).
Powermat and Duracell both made something that looked like roughly the same technology. Some time in the recent past, Powermat and Proctor and Gamble (who I guess own the Duracell brand?) formed a joint venture or some marketing agreement to make and sell "Duracell Powermat" devices.
The mention of a puck thing could mean either of two things. First, Powermat sells a "universal" receiver, which is a little block with the inductor coil inside it. You still have to connect it to your phone's charger port via mini/micro USB (or one of their other tips). Of course, you wouldn't have that on all the time, except when you are charging. Second, Duracell sells or used to sell a gadget that semi-permanently plugs into your USB port and then sticks to the back of your phone. The latter sounds like what the RS guy was talking about.
After a couple days out of town, I returned to find a bunch of packages of el cheapo Powermat stuff for experiments.
I got a single-position mat specially intended for iPhone 3G and 3GS from a 3rd party supplier on Amazon for $7.44 (and free shipping due to Amazon Prime). With the MT4GS Powermat receiver cover from T-Mobile, I can charge using this mat. It's not a perfect fit. The mat does have an indentation, but it's not for the iPhone. The included iPhone case has a rectangular hump on the back, and the indentation is for that hump. Still, by wiggling things a bit and placing the MT4GS off-center, it does charge. The MT4GS cover does not have that hump ... it's just slightly thicker than standard overall.
From the feel of things, there must be magnets that activate the mat. So, I had to fiddle with the placement of the phone to get the mat to turn on. Once it did, the charging light came on for the phone.
(I haven't taken any of this apart yet, so I'm speculating a little.)
On spec, I bought a Palm Pre Touchstone charging kit. They are pretty cool looking and are available pretty cheaply. (Mine cost less than $10, and I've now seen them for $4.) Alas, the kit include the charging dock (which I hope turns out to be compatible with Powermat) and a receiver cover for the Palm Pre (yawn), but it turns out that it wants to reuse the power cord from the original Palm Pre charger.
It looks like it's a mini USB connector (though it could be micro USB), but it fits into a pretty cramped tunnel in the charging dock. None of the USB cords I have on hand will fit all the way into that tunnel.
So, that's a bit of a bust, but I reckon I might buy a Palm Pre power supply since they are also pretty cheap. The looks of the Touchstone are so cool, I hope I can get it working with my MT4GS.
Anyone interested in one or two of these?
Sorry to Necro this thread but has anyone gotten this door to work with Qi chargers? I suppose it won't work out of the box but I can imagine switching out the coil with one for like a SGS3 or some such.

It is the ONLY car mount I've ever owned that doesn't move.
It is rock solid.
What's nice is the rotation by pushing the button so it is completely flexible by any degree.
Comes with a good car charger as well, seems to be able to push enough power to still charge my Nexus even when running loads of apps like music and maps...etc.
My current charger can't do that.
WELL WORTH THE MONEY.
Contains:
1 X Premium Car Holder for Samsung HTC Nexus One
1 X In Car Charger for Samsung HTC Nexus One
xD Sorry, haha what an interesting typo..
Any mention of a USA-based seller? I'd like to give it a try..
Don't see it for sale by a US seller.
Lovely bit of kit though.
It's so stable you could read an ebook while driving.
I'm over in California on June 25th for a week for work.... ;-)
Looks pretty good, been after something more than just a cheap universal mount.

I mean really, £45 for a car mount? no thanks.
I've just ordered a USB desk mount, with spare battery charging and spare battery for £15.

Yah but it does have Bluetooth Speakers in it that make it far louder then the normal speakers. I really like the car dock I know its 55 bucks but it is very nice.
I bought the same holder as the OP and i find it incredibly annoying and pretty cheaply made. It doesn't seem to stay where i want it to and it seems to have warped slightly in the sun so my nexus doesn't fit properly anymore.
I could have just got a dud one, but you might want to watch out for that

That's dissapointing to hear.
I can say that when mine is on the windscreen it will NOT move.
Rock solid, and no bouce or shake what-so-ever.
I'm thinking you MAY have got a dud one or I got a rare good one?
I think at £10 it's worth a go.
I might pick up a few Google ones while over in the US next month as I won't have to pay for shipping.
Buy the original. WAY much better...
I always pay between £30 - £50 for a brodit active mount, specific mount made for my car, not a suction cup.... charges well, always well made and secure.
I think this is a car mount from Haicom! You can't find it on the manufactur's website, but Google shows some results.
I bought a Haicom car mount for my G1 a few month a ago. Just after a few days the arm for the vacuum cup loosed from the mount. This thing is anything but high quality!

mine comes from fedex this morning! well my brodit car mount system. i didnt opt for the charging version. I have my nexus one in a hard case, so I opted for the universal/resizeable version.
I also bought a nice car charger from boxwave to go with the new proclip car mount (only vendor i could find with the microUSB coil + slim charger profile):

If you live in the UK Expansys have started selling Nexus One accessories (although I can only find the Desktop Dock atm) http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=195715
Also while browsing through I found Motorola Milestone for a pretty decent £350 http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=190234

Yeah, for the first few days it was fantastic.
Didn't bounce or shake and could read the screen clear as anything (had a different one that was just a blurry mess) but then the button-catch started slipping and then the holder sort of melted a bit in the sun lol.
But yeah, i guess i just got a dud one or something if yours is working so well
I just hope it doesn't do what mine did lol
I have one of the same mounts you bought from Ebay. I also am very impressed by the quality of it. Really secure and the suction mechanism is great.
I was dubious when I bought it but thought it was still better to take a punt than shell out for the OEM model.
Having said that, now that I have been made aware of brodit mounts, I think they look really nice and top quality. If this one breaks or deteriorates, I may be tempted to them. I do slightly prefer positioning on the windscreen, but the brodit mounts seem fantastic.
Mine is fairly good
I have the same one, a bargain at £10. The only issue i have had is that the suction lever got loose after about 3 remounts.. Fortunately the holder is still quite strong in place, but I do worry that the sucker wont last long.. So far so good though..
On the plus side, the form factor is very pleasing to the eye, and the flexibility of the joints are very good also..
Sorry to drag up an old thread but i thought i'd update you all a little.
I went to the lake district for a week and did a fair amount of driving. I was playing around alot with the positioning, trying to find the best location.
Basically, by the end of the week the level became really loose and the suction cup wont stick to anything anymore. No dust 'stuck' to it or anything, as far as i can tell, it just looks a little misshapen and refuses to adhere to any part of the windscreen.
I'm not trying to put you off it or anything, just be careful you don't get a 'dud' one like me
Just ordered a Rearth case from here: http://goo.gl/V5ccu
Curious if anyone has this case (or a similar type that does not obstruct the top/bottom) and uses a microUSB desktop charger?
I know, I know, this phone supports wireless charging.... but some of us want to 1) charge as fast as possible and 2) have our phone upright on our desk while charging.
I heard that the N4 fits in the GSIII desktop chargers but I doubt they do with any type of case on. Anyone have recommendations for a "universal" or otherwise desktop charger that will work with this phone/case combo?
I have found one that looks to be promising, except it's Philips brand and is an alarm clock... but still, people are saying it's fairly universal and at least one of the reviews says they are using it with an otterbox case on their phone:
http://goo.gl/4g4jd
Any thoughts or recommendations for other ones that might work?

I'm afraid so... Although I'm pretty sure that you can find a universal Micro USB dock. I'd check Amazon or eBay.
I'm in the same boat; I'd love to get a desktop charger, but can't find anything. I picked up a cheap ($5) S3 dock on eBay, but the plug doesn't extend far enough to connect to my N4 and the base isn't wide enough to fully support it either. I came across this one, but it is fairly pricey and I'm not sure I want to be the first person to try it out...

I am in the same boat , I would like to get a couple of docks one for work desk and one for home desk, I have tried to buy that one but for some reason they don't ship from Australia to me in Canada, I have found it here in ebay http://www.ebay.ca/itm/KiDiGi-Unive...ries&hash=item337e43a54e&_uhb=1#ht_5273wt_775
I am concerned with stress on the USB port, other than that I would love to buy it, does anyone know if it can cause stress on the USB or or should it be OK ?
I'm tempted by the KiDiGi one. I have a similar one for my S2 and it's been working fine for me so far...unfortunately its for the S2 only and so won't work with anything else.

As an aside, I did have to modify my dock for my iphone with case, because the little jack holder they have on this dock is enveloped in a larger plastic covering to keep it attached to the dock. I simply sawed off the top portion that keeps it in place, and superglued.. it has been solid ever since, and the connector reaches all the way into my case to connect just fine.

From my OP:
"I know, I know, this phone supports wireless charging.... but some of us want to 1) charge as fast as possible and 2) have our phone upright on our desk while charging."
That's why. It's not just about charging... I like to use my phone as a clock/info station during the day, and having it upright allows me to do that. Now if they'd just make a vertical magnetic charging pad.....
I use the phillips fidelio as351 and it fits my phone with it's multitude of cases and even my N7. also makes for a portable speaker systsem as well as it runs on battery or AC adapter. Lot of places have this dock on clearance.
Seidio also makes one that works with cases.
http://www.seidioonline.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-desktop-charging-cradle-p/bd2-crdssx1.htm
The Seidio one looks cool...but the lack of a backing looks like its going to put a lot of pressure on the USB connector.
I was looking at wireless mats, but then if I decide to change my handset again next year I'll be back in the same position I am now.
Hey guys and gals,
I am looking to purchase a Car Qi Charger. I have not yet found a thread for this, though there were options mentioned in the regular Qi Charger thread, but this one is specifically for the car.
I have found 2 which look promising but just want to know other peoples input. Plus want to know if they will hold with a case on the phone.
Itian: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M685JTG/
C1: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H1XU6A8/
Both of these look pretty good, have mixed reviews, but just want to know what you guys think would be best and if anyone actually used these in the past?
I know that there is also the AirDock, but I doubt it would hold the Note 4 all that well, so not bothering to include it.
I currently use this item in my car as a regular holder, so I wish there was one (other than the AirDock) which can utilize the ability to hold and charge the phone by mounting into the CD Slot of the car head unit: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004G1L52Q/
Please add to this list if anyone has better solutions.
I've been agonizing over this choice myself, but I'm even worse off than you- I've gotten hooked on having a magnetic mount (currently using the Bracketron Si earth elements mount), and I REALLY like the S-View cover, so what I really want is a car dock that does Qi charging AND holds the phone magnetically, with strong enough magnets to hold through the S-View flap! Unfortunately, it seems that at this point there aren't ANY magnetic Qi docks (apart from the Airdock, and I'm right on the same page as you there), let alone one that would work through the S-View flap! So basically if I want Qi I'm stuck either sacrificing the magnetic holding feature and going with arms, or I'll have to build my own custom dock. Haven't quite decided which route I'll go yet, but man do I wish there was a decent magnetic Qi dock!
Anyway, as for Qi docks that DO exist now, in my research I've found a couple that seem to really stand out and come up time and again as the go-to's for Qi in the car. Here's the best options I've seen so far:
The iOttie: http://www.iottie.com/Product/Detai...for Google Nexus 5 and Qi Enabled Smartphones
Amazon's got this one for $55 also: http://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Wireless-Standard-Motorola-Smartphones/dp/B00IRHQZTI
Nokia CR-201: http://www.mobilefun.com/38310-nokia-qi-wireless-charging-nfc-car-holder-cr-201-Reviews.htm
bit more expensive, but has some nice features.
Then there's this:http://www.tylt.com/vu-car-wireless-charger/
Not available yet, but it looks like it may be a decent option.
I've read a lot of mixed reviews on the plethora of non-name brand Qi gear thats out there, some people say that they work just as well for cheaper prices and others say that they're total junk. I guess I'd say if you see one you really like then just make sure that you read reviews on it so you don't get stuck with something that doesn't work or worse.
As for a mount that uses the CD slot, I haven't seen any Qi docks that come with that option but many docks share similar or identical mounting solutions, so once you find a Qi dock that you like you could probably find a non-qi dock that mounts in the CD slot and then just replace the actual dock with the Qi one. Personally I don't think I'd trust the CD slot to hold up a phone this heavy, I'd be worried about damaging the CD player not to mention it'll be much less steady, but hey if that's what you like then good luck!
Thanks for the input
I will have to look into the Ottie one as it does look fairly decent. The Nokia one is way over priced and I cannot say I am a fan of it. The Tylt is nice, but I am sure it is going to be quite costly due to their original designs of their products.
The reason I want it as a CD mount is because I currently have one (minus the Qi of course) and it works just fine, hold the phone super good, without issues at all what so ever. Plus, no damage done to the head unit or CD Slot (not that I use CDs of course lol).
I just want something very low profile, but for it to do the job you know. The reason why I do not want anything mounted on the windshield is because I hate wires and I like for the phone to be close to me while I drive. I do not text and drive though! I plan to run the wire behind my head unit and bring out just enough to plug into the Qi holder. This will be a pain in the rear of course, but I am anal when it comes to wires lol. I have a radar, dash cam, and soon a Qi charger, all of which I want to make fairly invisible with regards to wires.

Keep in mind that none of the chargers that people listed here except for the Itian have the One Touch operation. Paradoxically that includes the iOttie charger (people who invented it). So to me they all seem ridiculously overpriced for the limited functionality they provide. I am using Itian, and so far pretty happy with it. If you really need some sort of specific mount (CD, Vent, or whatever), you may be able to take Itian head (it's detachable) and glue it to the mount that you like. I had to do that myself because by dash has rough texture and the only suction cup that would stick is iOttie gel cap. So I used a suction cup plus arm form a low end iOttie charger ($13.99 on sale) and Itian head ($27.99). Cheaper and more functional than name brands.

Disregard my earlier suggestion. Now that I finally have a Qi Receiver sticker for my Note 4, I'm finding that this one doesn't charge because the receiver isn't centered in the phone. I did cut up my receiver and turn the coil as close to the center as possible (careful not to cut the actual wires!), but it still doesn't charge for more than 2 seconds before the charging indicator turns off on the phone.
I ordered this one as a replacement and it's working great:
http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F5XPCSC/
Caveat: I don't know if it would work with the receiver sticker still in it's original configuration... :/ If I had to guess, I'd say it would because I can slide my phone to either side a little bit and I don't lose connection.
I had it with my Note 3. With the Note 4, I upgraded the car charger to a QC 2.0 charger and my car charging need is solved. It charges way faster than the best Qi charger that I've tried.

Have the air dock with the goose neck mount. It was garbage and then I saw that they have the magnetic stickers. I attach the magnetic sticker to the back of the case I have the tough armor case. Now it is absolutely amazing I can't imagine anything better anyone looking for charger

Can someone with the AirDock comment on the strength of the magnet? I've been pretty interested in it, but the problem for me is that I really like the S-View case, so the magnet in the AirDock would need to be strong enough to hold through the S-View flap. Maybe someone could test how well it holds with a piece of cardboard or something between the AirDock and the phone? I've totally gotten addicted to having a magnetic dock, but I also love my S-View and I want wireless charging! I mean cmon, can't I have everything???

Just use these, its what I do and it works amazing
Right, I would assume I'd need to use the sticker but what I'm wondering is whether the AirDock will hold the phone with the S-View cover flipped around to the back. Basically the sticker would be on the back of the phone, then the S-View cover would be between the sticker and the AirDock. Are the magnets in the AirDock strong enough to hold the phone even with the cover between them and the sticker?

The nexus 5 has 4 metal discs in it specifically to make magnetic docks easy and allow for some self aligning.
The airdock with the nexus 5 works reasonable well. Not perfect, I do have to realign the phone more than once per day and end up grabbing or holding if if there's a big dip/bump/whatever.
However even with a thin case the n5 is unusable with the air dock. What's worse is that the airdock + note 4 is worse than the airdock + n5. I'm guessing the note 4 doesn't have the 4 discs.
I have an airdock and it works great with the Note 4.
i use an itian charger and it works great with double sided scotch tape for outdoor mounting. sticks vertically to the dash and holds the note 4 with two prongs.
While shopping for cars, I found out the camry and Avalon can come with wireless charging. I ended up with an Avalon Hybrid with tech pkg.
I'm not happy with this one - lost allways the connection - looking now one with three coils like my Itian desk charger, this one works perfect....

I used it for my S3, and it does fit a Note 4 with the Ringke Fusion case on it with a little room to spare. I haven't used it for Wireless Charging on my Note 4 yet because I'm still waiting for my wireless receiver to arrive, but it has worked perfectly on my S3 for the last 6 months.
It doesn't go in a CD slot, but it does offer both the suction cup and the air vent hooks.

Hi,
I'm in intrested in buying the wireless charging cover for the s5 but I don't now if it is worth it.
If someone had it could he give me some feedback? Thanks
There are severalI different charging covers @ the market.
I own the S charger cover EP-CG900IWE by Samsung and I don't want to miss it
What's wrong with just plugging it in?
doing wireless gives you flexibility , just put it on tap of wireless charging pad and will charge the phone
Bought mine maybe 6 months ago, it's an S-view wireless back cover combination from Samsung. I have to say it's great having this, I have 2 charging pads, one at the office and one at home; I just place my phone to the pad when I'm not using it and doing work, and at home I place it on the pad before going to bed so I don't have to worry about battery level anymore.
The only thing you should check out is it's losses(power), with 2 Amps of input, you might only get 700-1000 mA of output so charging will take twice as much time as it would if you use the stock charger that came with the phone.

I wish I could find one for under $100... sigh
I'm not allowed to post links , otherwise - is your google not working
~ 23 €
From where? Only one ive found that is genuine is on amazon for 100
I don't really want the s view case...
I use genuine Samsung wireless charging back cover , from Amazon UK £28 with a Cheotech 3 coil charging pad, from Amazon UK £19
Anyone managed to find black cover with Qi? There are some on eBay from USA, but with sick prices (100$ and more). There is one on Amazon UK http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Charger-Cover-Galaxy-S5/dp/B00IN9HZ0S/ref=sr_1_10 but "Temporarily out of stock". I've even talked with Samsung customer service in Poland and they said they don't have it.
I have this chinese Qi coil that goes under back cover, but it's rubbish. It lifts the cover a bit, making gap around LEDs and ruining water resistance.

I've got the same problem mate. I'm about ready to accept that fact that if I want Qi charging with good looks I'll have to buy an S-View cover
I've talked with support on Amazon UK. They told me it's really "temporarily" and if I buy it, they'll have it in few days. I'll try. If not - probably S-View + carpet knife to remove the front.
This may sound stupid but Ikea sells them, but only in white $15. I know sounds crazy right!
I've had the wireless charging cover + pad (not s-view version) and i say that i really enjoy the use of it -- very convenient.
Got a pad in the office, the bedroom and in the car!
Charges slower than cable obviously and the phone does warm up quite a bit, thankfully it will pause the charging if it gets too hot so no biggie on that

Do yourself a favour and do not buy those.
They don't fit properly and I'm sure they don't even properly seal the back.
Tried one and immediately gave it back.
It was incredibly difficult for me to find one of those back covers as well (germany), but after days of searching trough various vendors that are supposed to are samsung resellers, I finally found an original S-charger cover for my white S5 on amazon for 30€.
Take a look:
Telefonide tarvikud | Maxfield - Samsung - PowerNeed - Grateq - Omega - Ansmann - Olloclip - Caterpillar - KSIX - Sony - Photopoint
I use an Easychee qi-Pad. Lifts the backcover a very very little bit.
In combination with an easychee t300 the best thing for my s5 i ever had.
Perfect charging through my silikon flip case.
For the easychee t300 (about 40$) theres a special tip.
I bought it via amazon. Its name is KOS-T30PC Charging Pad.
Its 100% the same pad. Cost 15$ via amazon.
Look its this one
Amazon US and Amazon UK now have them listed and "temporarily out of stock". I "bought" one on each site. If I ever receive one, I will cancel the other. Or accept it and sell it on eBay.
The UK one was 23 pounds. The one on Amazon US was only USD$22! And "Usually ships within 1 to 2 months."

For you that use the S-View cover, doesn't that front flap get super annoying? Don't you have to open it and fold it back every time you use the phone for anything, including talking on it?
That thing looks so annoying that for now I am just sticking with plugging a cable in whenever I need a charge - even though I already have Qi charging pads everywhere.
I'm using oem qi cover. It works perfectly and keeps the phone waterproof. Can't remember how much I paid for it but not more than $50.
Absolutely must have in the car. I'm using a QI charging car mount. For home - not that important but still very nice.
This wireless charger is one of today's deals on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Anker-Wireless-PowerPort-Charging-Qi-Enabled/dp/B00Y839YMU/ref=dp_ob_title_wld
I've heard a pretty substantial amount of good reviews for this charger, so I'm thinking of picking it up since it's only $15. I was also looking into getting an OEM LG wireless charging back, but I'm not willing to pay $50+ for it. Ran across the NeWisdom Qi sticker and it seems to have mixed reviews: http://www.amazon.com/NeWisdom-Wire...sr=8-1&keywords=lg+v10+wireless+charging+chip
Was wondering if anybody has had experience with the NeWisdom Qi sticker. Any overheating? Went bad after a while? Ect.

Dont bother...I've tried several wireless charging sticker/Qi combos and it just drains the battery.

So i bought the new Wisdom sticker off Amazon. I'll say this--i used a hair dryer as the instruction indicates--and peeled the original NFC only sticker off (or so i thought) and applied the new wisdom. It would register like it was charging but not actually charge as dr_w indicates above.
HOWEVER...frustrated i looked at a couple videos and noticed that the battery doors with the sticker fully removed didn't look like mine. With an exacto knife i picked at the remaining black area only to find there was still copper wire underneath. In effect the original NFC sticker had multiple layers and i'd only peeled off the top. Getting ALL of it up was a challenge...like a real challenge...it did not peel off i had to scrape with a knife for an extended period of time.
At the end of the day though once i had the original sticker all the way off i reapplied the New Wisdom Sticker (which surprisingly survived multiple attempts at reapplying without ill effect). Then setting it on my Spigen charger stand and running the Ampere app i was amazed at how well it was charging. It actually was over 1000ma at one point and after finding it's range (it starts low and builds) it averaged at about 800ma. That was decent enough to charge my phone pretty quick. For reference fast charging is like 1350--1500ma or so. In comparison the Monroy wireless back i bought from Amazon that already had a sticker applied (presumably NOT New Wisdom) typically does maybe 350-500ma.
So the bottom line is it was WAY more of a pain than i anticipated but now i'm stoked and actually rather impressed with the performance.
LEt us know if its consistent. I've had a very similar experience before it began discharging at a rapid rate. Thanks for the post, I'll keep checking back.
Originally had a cheap sticker off eBay that lasted several months, about 3,then the chip in the phone caved out. Got the newisdom the other day and got a Tylt charger to go with 2 Samsung fast chargers and no issues so far. The constant lighting up the phone when it's charged is annoying and the g4 tweaksbox doesn't seem to fix it.
I'm using the OEM LG wireless back and it's quite nice. Feels exactly like the original and fits very flush, no problems with wireless detection on my TYLT charger. I'm actually surprised at how little the back weighs as my understanding is the copper coils should add some noticeable weight but in this case it doesn't. Maybe not that much copper in these OEM backs?
Just ordered an OEM wireless charging back for my V10 (a seller on Amazon has it for $29.99 atm though no prime shipping with the fastest option being expedited shipping) and due to the price, I'd imagine it already being sold out by the time this post is read. I didn't want to get the third party stickers as I want to keep my current back and the third party plastic backs are pretty horrible in terms of feel and fit.
Anyways, what do you guys recommend for a good wireless charging pad? The official Samsung pads look interesting enough as is and I've seen it work with every device with Qi built in or using one of those plug-in Qi pads you place inside a case before the phone though I'm gonna have to wait til my next paycheck to get a pad: already spend a good chunk of cash on an MSI RX 480 and only bought this back due to the steal of a price at $29.99, $36 with expedited shipping. It was that or go with prime and spend $60 on a back
Finally received my OEM wireless back. As expected, the battery door feels exactly like the original back albeit curves near the button cutout due to the extra elevation it adds. Also makes cases a tighter fit if you're concerned about compatibility. Works on my Yootech wireless charger as well as a friend's Samsung wireless charger and Tylt Vu 3, the last two having the best range in terms of surface since the Yootech seems to only have one coil. As for charging, going from 0-100% took about 2-3 hours and the phone got pretty warm too though just a smidgen cooler than it gets when quick charging via cable. The packaging DOES have the description for what would've been a wireless charging variant of the Quickview cover which would attach as a battery door too but I guess that didn't work after all the hullabaloo about the faulty Qi chip. Sucks that the LG logo simply takes place of the rather sexy V10 logo
Either way, I'd recommend getting an OEM back when you can though might wanna wait. Some listing still sell it for $60 a pop and even $100
