Hi all I'm wondering is someone can help, is the G Tablet the same as the viewpad 10s as I want to update mine to cm7 I've successfully rooted my HTC and installed gingerbread but I'm not 100% with this and I could do with some help before I attempt to do anything with this Tablet.
Hope someone can point me in the right direction.
No, the Viewpad 10s is not the same as the gTablet. The 10s is more like the Advent Vega. Some of those ROMs might work on the 10s. The gTablet ROMs will probably not work.
Cheers for that, I've done a bit more digging and it does seem as thought the Advent Vega is basically the same Tab and there has been plenty of success with flashing the same roms so I'll give it a go this weekend.

Just saw the Archos 7 Home Tablet and got quite interested in it.
But it only runs android 1.5 and doesn't have market. From what i have understood the hardware is pretty much the same as in many phones. Do you think there will be unofficial android releases for this device? Or would that require too much work with reverse engineering kernel modules and the "Android Software"?
Thanks

They have a pretty active forum. Check it out. If someone has updated the OS you will find it there.
So for a bit I've been looking into tablets, and the G Tablet seems like its the right one for me (great hardware, already a great amount of work from the Devs here on the system) so I think I'll be picking one up after the holidays.
My question though: I remember reading a week or two ago (when doing my initial research) reading somewhere that the G Tablet could run Windows 7 in the future. Is this true? I originally strayed away from Win 7 tablets because I know how much of a hassle they can be, and after putting Android onto my HTC Vogue I went towards a droid tablet. But I also realised that if I could get a Win 7 boot on the tablet also (like one of the other tablets out there with a dual boot) then that would be great to possibly run some of my graphic programs.
So, does anyone think/know if setting up a dual boot on the G Tablet is possible? Has anyone started thinking about developement on it already?
Thanks in advance! Looking forward to getting this tablet and getting it setup, and just wanting to get to know a little more about its future too.
Viewsonic is suppose to be coming out with a DIFFERENT tablet that can dual boot, but not the Gtab..
The Viewpad 10 is what they were coming out with. Don't know if it still is. The big issue for me is there is only Android 1.6 right now for the X86 cpu's. You also have to deal with fans, and the extra weight. I wanted a Windows 7 tablet but not so much anymore.

Yeah I know about that one, but strayed away from that because it was pretty much unavailable and more pricey (if memory serves).
I swear I remember reading it somewhere that the G Tablet would be capable of running Windows 7 in the near(ish) future, and I'm just trying to figure out if that is true or not.
Only if Microsoft rewrites Win 7 for the ARM processor and reduces the Bloat.
:-D I am sure at some point with all these Tegra 2 tablets someone will port Ubuntu onto the G-tab! This would be amazing considering all the tablet support that they have built into the recent netbook remix.

Now this interface on the g-tablet would be amazing!

Once we have kernel source, we'll be able to do it....
Ubuntu is a definite possibility since it runs on ARM and the Android kernel itself is Linux based. But, just like any kernel change, the devs would need the source so that's the biggest obstacle.
hi all !
i'm from argentina and i have a doubt
i'm looking to bye tablet viewsonic ...
viewpad 10s (tegra without dualboot/win)
gtablet
gtablet have 16gb memory
viewpad 512mb ...
but i think that viewpad have more roms and a honeycomb rom ...
what do you think ...
the prices are similar:
viewpad 10s : 570 uss
gtablet : 620 uss...
dont look the difference the prices in my country with USA jeje
Without support why buy anything from viewsonic? Something new is already at EOLas soon as you open the box.
I would look at something else....maybe Archos at least they have updates.....VS just doesn't care at least as of lately as it would seem.....do you know what I'm saying. .."Adam"[email protected] viewsonic.
Maybe its not Adams fault. .it's the CEO?
GTab is, IMO a fine tab once rooted and Ginger installed. I've gotten the Transformer and ...wow. But, that said, the GTab is kind of a great "entry level" tab to start to learn android. At least I found it to be.
If you're new to the trade I highly recommend staying away from viewsonic.
Edit.
I still don't understand why viewsonic's customer service is so bad. It's a billion dollar industry for goodness sake. In fact, it is on par with mega industries like LG, which viewsonic won a law suit against in 2005.
hi, tnx for your answer, i'm begginer on tablets but old user on smartphones.
i finally buy viewsonic viewpad 10s, in argentina(my country) the support is very good
Hi all,
I'm in need of an android tablet that supports a USB audio in device. Has anyone tried this at all? If so what would be a good tablet to go for?
I've been looking at the archos 101 G9 but it hasn't quite been released yet and I need one now, which is a shame.
Any other suggestions?
Is there anything I need to bear in mind?
Also has anyone written code to interface with a USB audio in device? Is it possible to use the "AudioRecorder" class with a different device number perhaps? Or does it need to be done some other way?
Thank in advance!
Hi,
as i know Archos-G9 allready in the market.
NookColor works also with USB-AUDIO.
USB audio works on my Allwinner A10 tablet witn "Unofficial CyanogenMod 9 for many AllWinner A10 tablets" firmware from Christian Troy
Never heard that before but im sure Galaxy tab 10.1 will do it
It will work
we all should be polite enough to press thanks for anyone who helped US.
I'll check my Iconia A500 when I get home to see if it does.
Hi all!
My GF has a little allwinner a13 9 inch Tablet, its not the fastest thing on the planet, but its not too bad for her surfing the internet one.
But is IS a tad slow when doing it.
Is there any custom roms out for this?
Like a JB rom?
Im not 100% sure, but is this compatible? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861445 or is there better out there?
Also, since I have never done anything on these NA tablets before, how would I actually go about putting a custom rom on it?
Any help would be appreciated!
Cheers
Keith
