Sniffers for Android? - Android Apps and Games

Hey, I'm taking a computer auditing course in college, and I've been sort of amazed at the lack of hacker tools on a platform with so many talented developers.
I know we have arp spoofing/poisoning apps, and a couple of scanners like nmap .. but that's about it.
When will android ever see a native version of aircrack, a brute force cracker, or a decent voip sniffer?
It's sort of lame having to get onto a windows system in order to access those tools, and Linux is lacking on mobile devices.

You could try droidsheep (droidsheep.de).

Have it, kind of mentioned it in there with other arp spoofing apps like wifikill.
Thanks anyway.

Geo-Encryption

Do you guys think that a geo-encryption app would be possible on Android?
I am talking about creating a simple app that encrypts data based on your location.
I am thinking about doing this as my University project, I have some java knowledge but its basic so Im wondering if I am biting off more then I can chew with this idea.
no one that can help?
What do you mean by geo-encryption? I can't figure out what it is you intend to do?
Geo-encryption
You might want to check out the white paper at the geocodex website. Its url is the traditional www dot geocodex dot com. (As a new registrant, I can't type in the link myself.)
We haven't looked at Android but we do have a geo-encryption application up and running in the Windoes Mobile environment.

@Gene Poole
geo-encryption is when data is encrypted or decrypted based on your location using GPS.
@markseiler
thanks I will check that out.
In your opinion, is it possible to do this by 1 person with moderate to basic java knowledge?
Im not looking to make it overly complex, just need it to decrypt/encrypt a basic text file using location.
Also it only needs to work while the app is running so no need to have it part of the operating system.
so what's the problem now?

i dont have a problem. I just want to find out the experts opinion on here if its doable or not. Like if it would take a long time and need a lot of knowledge. I only have till March.
What should be so hard about it?
Can you code in Java?
If so, just create your java app for android, get the GPS informations (use already written libraries), think about an algorithm to decrypt with some tolerance (I mean GPS in the consumer market isn't that precise, and you should be able to decrypt it in a specific radius), and then you've done it already.
If you know Java and if you've written your own code, too, you should have a working app in a week.

I have done Java yes but I am no expert.
I am asking as I have seen already working implementations and they all use time data too so that over complicates things.
So you think it would not be too hard to implement getting coordinates from GPS into the DES algorithm without much problems?
I would imagine that Android / java already have APIs for doing encryption and pulling GPS coordinates. You just need to string those together and you have your app.

I haven't read the white paper, but there has to be more to it than that. It would be impossible to enforce a simple cipher as you could always fake the GPS coordinates. There must be some kind of handshaking going on.

yeah thats true.
I have not been told that it NEEDS to be secure as its a idea im researching so if I can make it complex then I so be it. I just need to find out from supervisor if a simple method will suffice.
Hi Nekromantik, I'm wondering if you could do it or not ?! because I have the same project now ... if you have anything that can help me it's will be kind of you to share it with me.
Thank you in advance

No Cisco VPN support in ANdroid??

After doing a little research, it looks like Android does not support CISCO VPN's using pre-shared keys??? How could that possibly be if Andoid is supposed to make it's way into the enterprise arena? I can't even use it to connect to my employers network!! Even iDevices can do that by default! Please tell me I'm missing somehting!!
THanks!

There is a link for creating and storing a key on android. If you are looking for an AnyConnect client it appears there is a beta but it requires root:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.cisco.anyconnect.vpn.android.rooted
Thanks for the info - I appreciate it! Haven't root'd my TF yet, but the reasons to are building up...
Didn't see anything about PSK's in that thread, but maybe I missed it - I'll read through it again. For the life of me, I can't understand why Android is still missing this functionality - especially with all of the Android tablets now - they make much better remote-control devices than phones do - would be nice to use them to access our work servers when needed!
Don't blame Android.
I know what you mean jtrosky. I don't know why Android can't support Cisco VPN as easy as Apple can

[Q] computer programs to android

Basically the company I work for has a computer program that one of our old IT guys wrote, now I am wondering if there is a easy way to just transfer the code over to an Android app so that it works on Android phones. or will it just be easier to rewrite the code? Thank you.
Depends on the Code it is written in, what it does, the scale of it and its documentation.

Thank you for that. the company I work for has actually decided just to remote into our windows servers using a RDP client on android. We have explored our other options but this seems to be the best way to move forward without redoing all our systems due to how they are all interlinked.
Thank you for your help

Buy a Surface Pro?
I am the network administrator and we at work have not found a way. We will have to wait for Juniper to create a download for RT. I tried several ways to make it work no joy.

Many VPN clients require a third-party driver installation, so even the current jailbreak hack (which only allows untrusted user-mode software, not drivers) wouldn't allow porting the client even if it were open source. If it's closed source, there's nothing that can be done from this end without wayyyy more reverse engineering than anybody here is likely to bother with.
Juniper are currently developing a Windows Store app for Pulse. Microsoft were late in releasing the VPN APIs to developers, but we can expect to see things like Cisco and Checkpoint too.
Glad to hear it. I'm interested in these VPN APIs; one of the limitations of the current "jailbreak" hack for RT is that we still can't install drivers, which makes it impossible to install current VPNs (and many other pieces of software). If there's a way around that, it would be awesome.

AlanJC put forth new information. I'd like to know the source of his info...
It was quite simple really, if you're registered with their support forums, you can ask, and we did.
It's going to be a Windows Store app, and will work on Windows 8 and RT rather than just a downloadable exe to install under the desktop from what we can make out.

Hamachi alternative for WinRT

Is there any alternative to Hamachi for WinRT (with the WinRT device being the client)..
Because RT doesn't run x86 apps, I need to VPN into a machine that sits behind a firewall with no port forwarding for RDP (remote desktop).
Therefore I want to run some VPN server on the machine so that the Surface RT can connect to the local LAN over the internet for an RDP session.
RT has the standard Windows VPN capabilities built in, I think (haven't actually tried). Third-party VPNs aren't supported without jailbreak, and won't be until Microsoft officially makes it available; WinRT apps simply do not have the permissions to create a network interface or re-route traffic (remember the days when Android VPN apps needed to be run as root? That's basically where RT still is).
Out of curiosity, if you can't forward the RDP port, why do you expect you'd be able to hit a VPN server behind the firewall? If it's just a matter of them specifically blocking port 3389, you can change the port that Terminal Services (RDP server) listens on in the registry.
You could try teamviewer, they can route the traffic through their servers so you don't need to forward a port to your pc in a firewall

I am planning to try that but was hoping there was also a service like Hamachi available ...

Look up Hamachi and reread my OP
Fair point. You're not actually VPNing *into* your machine, but into a Hamachi-operated central management server. That has... interesting... security implications, but I suppose it does provide convenience (it would also be an immediate termination offense anywhere I've worked that had a firewall configuration like you describe, but that's your problem, not mine). Why can't you set up port forwarding in the firewall? Also, you did expressly state "Therefore I want to run some VPN server on the machine" where "the machine" presumably means the one behind the firewall...
The only time I've tried using Hamachi before was for "LAN" gaming over the 'net, which I decided not to do after looking at how it worked. That was long enough ago I'd forgotten the details of how it worked.
My first post still stands. There are at least two things Hamachi (or similar) would need to do that are impossible for a WinRT app (or for any software on RT without a jailbreak, really): create a network interface (we haven't even managed that *with* jailbreak, because except in the case of the semi-official driver from Pluggable we don't have any NDIS6 driver we can compile for ARM) and control a network interface from an app (there are possibly some rather hacky ways this could be done, but nothing we have right now).
Good Thank you:fingers-crossed:
Maybe someone will port Zerotier? It's too complicated for me, please help me make my life little easier
