Hello all,
since some weeks I have a HTC HD7, I bought it through Ebay, not knowing that it is O2_DE-branded.
OS Version: 7.10.7740
Firmware Version: 2250.21.51002.207
ROM Version: 5.10.207.02
Bootloader Version: 5.10.2250.0(131983)
I know that there is a possibility to downgrade the bootloader 5.xx thanks to ansar, but it's not available for O2_DE.
Can't I just flash Ansars Downgrade-ROM on my HD7? Because I don't know any great differences between HTC Europe and O2_DE-ROMs.
But everytime I try to flash the ROM on the HD7, it says 'Flash Write Error'. Is there any way to avoid this error?
I would really like to install custom ROMs!
Well, there's always the option of using a goldcard or similar to downgrade. It requires a little bit of hardware (modified USB cable and a USB SD cardreader) but it's not very expensive and the procedure is pretty easy. That lets you downgrade the SPL so you can install HSPL and then flash whatever you want.

masters!!! hi!! i have an o2 exec here.
i've read some articles here and in wiki for upgrading my device. howver, i havent seen a thing about bootloader.
these are my device's info:
rom version: 1.30.107 wwe
radio version: 1.09.00
ext rom version: 1.30.162 wwe
bootloader: 1.00
my question is, do i need to upgrade my bootloader first to 1.01 before doing an upgrade to wm6?
in connection with this, i believe my device is g3 (please correct me if i'm wrong), will IVAN rom work on G3? how about Rom Update 2.07.04.BL, will it work on g3? there are no information on their threads if these are for g3 or g4...
thanks for those who can help me.. thanks again!
Yes, You need to upgrade to BL 1.01
By Default all of the ROM's work on G3 devices unless stated. Even the ones that state that they work on G4, work on G3 as well. I have tried all of the mentioned (and more) on my G3 device and they all work.

so, upgrading to BL 1.01 is necessary. (however, mmamaich stated that it is not necessary...)
thank you so much for the useful informations. i'll be reflashing to wm6 later. thanks again great master!
what will happen if i upgrade directly to wm6 without upgrading first to BL 1.01? will it kill my device? thanks again!

Hi Everyone
I too would like an answer to iamwin's question . . .
I still have Bootloader v1.00 on my Xda Exec and I've loaded "2.07.05.BL from Beasty & Laurentius" on my device - not even knowing that it may or may not be necessary to update the bootloader . . .
I am confused as to whether my device is G3 or G4 and which is a G3 Rom and which is a G4 Rom and what is the significance of updating the bootloader on the device, since I've already flashed a WM6 Rom on a Bootloader v1.00 device, would it have any repercussions
-EDIT-
I read that some forum member's device have bootloader 2.01 - is it better to upgrade to the newer bootloader version - but is it available for download?
-END EDIT-
Cheers
SHK
Bootloader 2.01 is What Is Displayed On G4 Devices After Bootloader Update.
On G3 The Update Shows As 1.01.
I Believe Thats Correct Neways.
I was on BL 1.00 on my first try to upgrade to a WM6 ROM. All went well.
The SPL upgrade is meant to Super CID the device to make it compatible with the different modified ROM's available other than the shipped ones. Other than that, it was supposed to SIM unlock the Universal for subscribed users to telco's. I assume that you're on Globe or Smart and your SIM is already unlocked.
I see no other point other than the above that would make the Universal better or faster or more stable by applying the SPL upgrade, except maybe for troubleshooting purposes where a tool requires a modified BL.
Based on experience, I started not being able to flush ROM's with the SD Card inserted since I did the SPL upgrade.
My advice is to try the upgrade at it's current BL version and upgrade SPL or SIM unlock only if you are unable to proceed with the upgrade.
Cheers (Kabayan)!
P.S.
Btw, OS ROM selection is a matter of taste & usage. Determine the main use of your Uni & check for the ROM with no bugs exhibited for that main purpose. I hope video call is not among your main thing coz your going to be disappointed. Would be easier to go through the threads specifically the first page where bugs & fixes are mentioned. All of the new WM6 ROM's with OS CE core 5.2.1921& above are fast & stable except for some minor bugs here & there. All of the new releases runs on either G3 or G4.
@rhmartin
woW!! thanks kabayan!
i have already downloaded the patched ruu, which i believe is the right tool for upgrading. if i am correct, this patched ruu will bypass cid checking right?
so if im to upgrade, i'll just put the *.nbf file (rom) to the folder of the patched ruu (extracted). please correct me if im wrong,
salamat po!!!
Thank you!!!
Yup, the patched RUU is in the form of an exe file like this: *_noID.exe.
For starters just upgrade the OS ROM. The radio ROM (radio_.nbf - version 1.15 is preferred) can follow later, applying the same procedure upgrading the OS ROM.
Both ROMs can be updated exclusively (separately) from each other!
Good luck 'tol!

No, any bootloader starting from 0.53 would work with WM6. I personally don;t recommend to touch bootloader.

I have a Qtek 9000 with bootloader 1.00 and have flashed it numerous times. There may be other (brand name) factors which may lead some to conclude that it is necessary to upgrade. If you try to flash with the older bootloader, I beleive that the worst would be that the process would self-abort, leaving your existing ROM in tact. Safest to have the OEM ROM available and ready before you try, just in case you need it.
Please help me upgrading the Bootloader to anything over 0.6
I got an JasJar for ROM testing, - however, I cannot flash it using http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Bootloader
nor does it work with _noID
there is no progress bar, but I get "success message" really short after. Cold reset does not help, bootloader is still v0.6

..maybe somebody can provide an older bootloader ?
found the error - now upgrades work fine.
The error was caused by a massive overdose of bloatware and spyware, called Windows Vista, wich I recently got infected by, because my I got new PC at my workplace.
the simplest and best solution is to find and install a OS that's a OS, not a pile of junk.
hello,
ive not long ago bought a windows phone to play with,
i now want to downgrade my bootloader to install hspl and flash a custom rom
phones info:
os version:1.10.8107.79
firmware revision number ends in 206
my bootloader version is 5.12
i am chevron unlocked, and my phone was bought through o2 on a contract...
please could someone direct me and even post a tutorial on how i come to downgrade my phone's bootloader so i can install hspl and flash deepshining,
thanks
Hello
I know this has been discussed alot. But i just want to check in before doing this to my phone.
So i have upgraded to 5.11 Bootloader unwillingly and now i want to downgrade back to a 1.xx bootloader and install a HSPL So i could install a Custom full unlocked WP7 phone
First of all here is my phone's current status:
HTC 7 Mozart (1st gen) TMO branded with no sim lock
OS:7.10.7720.68
Firmware: 2250.21.50401.111
HW revision: 0004
Radio: 5.71.09.02a_22.51.50.21U
Bootloader: 5.11.2250.1(133065)
Unfortunately I have no access to any Android/WM 6.5 phone and i have no SD/micro-SD card (I can buy them, but i'd rather not because they have no use to me) But i do have a 8GB USB flash.
So, from what i have read, Since i have a TMO_DE (111) phone, I cannot use ansar's ROMs to downgrade and my only option would be the goldcard method.
The only thread about downgrading 5.xx SPL that i meet their requirements is This
So a few questions:
1. Do i have to use the Goldcard.IMG provided in that thread or i need to make myself one for Mozart as said in other threads?
2. Im going to use "RUU_Mozart_TMO_DE_1.30.401.01_Radio_5.54.09.21_22.33b.50U_NoDo_Signed_by_ansar" ROM. Is this correct ROM to do a downgrade with?
3. Just checking in, After a successful Downgrade (If i don't brick my phone) Im going to first Install HSPL as instructed in [DFT][Updated!#3] HSPL / RSPL for HTC WP7 First Generation And then Install a Custom ROM in [update][DFT Freedom ROM] Mozart mango 7720 V2 version. Is this right to get a FULL unlocked device?
4. After i Downgrade my phone using Goldcard, Do i get a working OS so i can resume the work later?
Thank you all. And let this topic stay to answer some newbies like me
Ad. 1. You can use Goldcard.img from that topic (post #5).
Ad. 2. I think so it's ok ROM, but you have to try.
Ad. 3. Yes.
Ad. 4. After downgrade you can install other stockROM or (if you have HSPL) costomROM. If you install stockROM you lost HSPL.
You can try that downgrade method (SLSPL by Ansar): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196183 for HTC Mozart you have link in #2 post.
Question 4: Yes. Downgrading the SPL (even breaking it, which is what a "half-bricked" phone has) does not limit the ability of the OS to operate.
Note, however, that any official updates installed during this time may also include a new SPL, forcing you to downgrade it again if you want to use a custom ROM.

Are you read Ansar topic (point 3 - bold)?
The process is as simple as of these 3 steps
1. Download the proper SLSPL ROM for your branded device operator, see post #2
2. Flash the provided SLSPL ROM and will re-boot in tricolor Bootloader screen, see post #3
3. Flash ANY Stock ROM of your branded device operator and finish the story of 5.10 Bootloader

Yes, but i don't understand what it does mean exactly
Do you mean that those roms will work on my device (to downgrade it) but i need to have a Stock rom to install on it? (but i can install HSPL on top of it to get custom roms, right?)
I can't think of any other definition right now
And i'm sorry my english is not that good, so maybe you can clear it up for me if it's not that?
1. Install SLSPL ROM for Mozart: RUU_Mozart_HTC_Europe_5.11.401.01_SLSPL_Signed_by_ ansar.zip
2. Install branded stockROM=originalROM for Mozart. Download this one: RUU_Mozart_TMO_DE_1.25.111.05_5.50.09.18_22.24.50_RELEASE.exe
(source from @Football: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427893)
3. Install RSPL/HSPL
4. Install customROM (what you want)
Now, it's clear ?

Trying this now.
I have downloaded RUU_Mozart_HTC_Europe_5.11.401.01_SLSPL_Signed_by_ansar.zip And tried to flash my Mozart. But got the "INVALID VENDER ID" error (My phone is not branded). I live in Middle East. Does this mean that I can't use the Europe version (which ansar provided) to flash my Phone?
Apologies for the kind of naive question. I'm still a newbie in these stuff.
Hmmm I don't know why, but I think so you have to ask Ansar why you can't install that ROM.
Hi,
I'm attempting to Interop Unlock my HTC HD7.
I've just run a restore in Zune, but it appears that the earliest restore gives me:
OS version: 7.10.7720.68
Firmware revision number: 2250.21.51002.728
Hardware revision number: 0002
Radio software version: 5.71.09.02a_22.51.50.21U
Radio hardware version: A.102.0.D4
Bootloader version: 5.10.2250.0(132968)
Chip SOC version: 2.2.5.0
I understand that if I have a Firmware revision number of 5xxxx, I cannot run the Interop Unlock as seen in this thread.
From what I see, it is possible for me to download a Stock ROM, in my case, this, and run that to downgrade my Firmware revision number.
I would just like to clarify before I start this process. Is the above information correct, and to run the Stock ROM, do I simply enter Bootloader Mode, start the .exe as downloaded from the thread, and let it run (seems too simple to me)?
Also, should I manage to get Interop Unlock working on a Firmware revision number of 4xxxx, would the Interop Unlock stick once I update the phone (is normal Zune update even possible after that)?
Thanks.
Be very careful. Since you have bootloader 5.xx
Pretty sure downgrading like that will brick your device. You have to use a y-cable. Last I heard, ive had my hd7 unlocked for a while not sure of newer ways.
Look for the downgrading spl thread in hd7 development. I think that's where it is.
After downgrade spl. I would just install hard-spl and flash a custom rom. Easier.
Sent from my HD7 T9292 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Thanks for the reply. Didn't know about the Bootloader thing, fortunately I didn't go ahead with it yet.
I was under the impression that if the ROM is the official ROM for my region (SEA, Singapore, 728), I wouldn't require any modifications to the SPL.
I don't want to mess with the SPL or the bootloader though, I've bricked enough devices (not WP7) to have a phobia of such things. Guess I'll have to wait for a breakthrough in unlocking, unless someone has any other methods.
If you want to be absolutely safe, GoldCard (which what @reeg420 meant when mentioning Y-cable) is the most reliable method.
However, I *think* you can actually downgrade to an older stock ROM just fine even with SPL 5.x. It just won't downgrade the SPL itself the way it normally would. You can't use RSPL on SPL 4.x or higher, which is why being able to downgrade the SPL is sometimes important (people who want to use custom ROMs need RSPL).
I suggest you do a bit more searching before deciding. I have not tried messing with SPL 5.x at all; I briefly had 4.x on my phone and promptly downgraded it to 3.1 again.
Thanks. I decided to go ahead with it, but got an error: "ERROR 226 (Flash Write - FLASH write error happened. Please check your PDA Phone)", which rebooted my phone. Phone appears to be okay though, not bricked.
Looks like I'll probably need to use a GoldCard?
Edit: So it appears that the earliest ROM that allows me to HSPL is this, which has the Bootloader 1.54.2250.0(112696). Could someone check my following steps and verify that I'm correct?
1. Get Y-Cable, USB Gender Changer, MicroSD+Card Reader
2. Get GoldCard Tool
3. Get GoldCard IMG, from this thread? "My custom goldcard.img"
4. Format MicroSD to FAT32
5. Place RUU_signed.nbh extracted from the aforementioned ROM with Bootloader 1.54.2250.0(112696), renamed to SCHUIMG.nbh
6. Run GoldCard Tool, ignore CID box, use GoldCard IMG, Patch MMC
7. Connect GoldCard, Y-Cable, phone, etc, etc, etc, patch phone
8. Get DFT's WP7FG3 from this thread
9. Install HSPL (or should I get RSPL? What is the difference?)
10. Find ROM of my choice (what do you recommend?)
11. Run selected ROM's ROMUpdateUtility.exe, flash device to new Custom ROM
Q1: What happens if the GoldCard process fails?
Q2: Is there any cons as to having an outdated Bootloader?
Q3: Am I able to upgrade my device with Official ROMs in the future after performing this, or must I simply use Custom ROMs from here?
Q4: Will having a Custom ROM affect my connectivity with my network?

Answer for Q1: it will definitely brick your device
Answer for Q2: no cons that may disturb you
Answer for Q3: yes, you're able to upgrade your device with official roms
Answer for Q4: no, as i use custom rom on my device, no connectivity problems
Wow, the GoldCard step looks incredibly daunting then. Guess I'll give this a shot. Will have to wait for the stuff to arrive from Amazon though, which will probably be a while given my location.
Thanks everyone for your input
Hi,
after I sent my Trophy to a HTC repairment center, they gave it back to me with the newest OS. Therefore my interop unlock is come. Now I would like to have it interop unlocked, again.
My system information:
OS-Version: 7.10.8107.79
Firmwarerevision: 2250.21.51201.162
Hardwarerevision: 0003
Radio: 5.69.09.05a_22.50.50.21U
Bootloader: 5.12.2250.1(134400)
Chip-SOC-Version: 2.2.5.0
As I know, its not possible to unlock it anymore, therefore I tought of installing a custom rom. For this I would need to install HSPL first, dont I? And for HSPL I need to downgrade my OS because of the version. I read somethign about the goldcard method, but did not understand evertyhing. Which OS version do I need to chose for the "device-specific .nbh image"?
It would be really kind if you could answer my questions - looking forward to help
Thanks...
Are you a Spark or Spark_W user (Verizon CDMA model). Anyway about it, check in the Trophy area on this site. THere is a lot of info for both models.
As my case, I have a Verizon Trophy. I was on the same level as you.
I needed to HSPL, down grade the OS version, then I could flash a rom. Your on the right path.
Goldcard method is if your partly bricked, it does not sound like your at that point.
When chosing your rom, just make sure you use the correct rom for your phone, a SPARK (GSM) rom should not be used on a SPark_W (CDMA) and back.
Good luck...
Hi,
I have a normal Spark (Vodafone). If I want to downgrade the OS I need to use the goldcard method or? And which image do I have to choose? Because there are a lot of them available. Does it make a difference, which branding I have?
Thanks for the answer
/EDIT: http://www.filefactory.com/f/0dacfac3a33cc378/ I have this list, but no clue, which version I need to choose...
From a 5XXXX bootloader, I believe you'll need to use GoldCard or SLSPL to downgrade to a HSPL-compatible version. GoldCard is the method that I know will work.
And which version should I use? Because I am kinda confused becuase of the mass of available versions...
Would this version work on my vodafone branded phone? "RUU_Spark_S_Vodafone_DE_5.12.162.01_5.69.09_RELEASE.exe"
Or which version would you recommend?
Thanks
Would this work?
Please tell me whether this will work...Or which version I should use instead of this.
