I got a problem with my phone, i downloaded rommanager in case i wanted to use another rom, but i never did so i'm still just on stock android. Now there is an update from android but when i say he has to restart en install i keep getting the clockworkmod interface. What do i do?? I could delete clockworkmod, but i dont know how...Other option is to update it with clockworkmod, but i dunno where the file is stored, and if i would use that file, whether it would work or not.
Phone= LG Optimus 2x aka P-990
Can you pls specify the details of ur phone???
1)Is ur LG Optimus 2x Rooted(I guess ur phone is rooted cause ur using rom manger which requires Root!)
2)Which version of android is it running on
3)What do you wanna install???????Stock Rom or Custom Rom
4)Have you flashed CWM yet?????????
5)if you r using rom manager that would mean that u wanna install custom Rom but then y r u bring Stock rom(Now there is an update from android and all updates from android will be Stock roms) in the picture.
One thing that i don't understand is Why do you want to install the update using Clockworkmod Recovery???????You could simply use the Stock Recovery!!!!
And even i dont no how to remove CWM once you have flashed it but i guess if you go to the root of ur SD Card and delete the ClockworkMod folder then ull get ur stock Rom back(Mabye. ive never tried it) or you could do a factory data reset of ur phone by going to Menu>Settings>Privacy>Factory data Reset(Never tried this too!!).
Im not stocking you. Its just that i get a bit irritated if proper details are not provided!!!
Cheers and pls press thanks for a 14yr old!!
thought would be clear but ok, got 2.3.4 running, yes my phone is rooted. I have stock rom, but i want to update it. And yes i've flashed clockworkmod. The reason i installed Rommanager is because i wanted to use a custom rom, but i wanted to wait and see whether 4.0 would bring improvement. I dont want to install the update using CWM, but i just have it installed and i cant install it the original way. When he updates and restarts, he just restart opening CWM and i have to select a file, but i dunno if i can boot from the update and where it is stored
By 4.0 you mean android ice cream sandwich? If you do, you may as well flash one of the newer custom roms using cwm.they have all the improvements of stock ice cream sandwhich and man many more .
If you do manage to update to stock ice cream sand which you will only want to flash a custom from afterwards anyway, save yourself the hassle of trying to put a stock rom on your phone!
yes, with 4.0 i mean ICS, but since this isnt brought by LG for the optimus 2x, i wanted to wait, cause i'll lose warenty etc if i flash another ROM on the device. All i want to know is if i can remove clockworkmod or if i can install the android update through, if i cant update this way i'll try a custom rom.
You got it all wrong!!!1
1) let me bring it to ur notice that if u root ur phone you lose ur warranty(Yes u just screwed up ur warranty) and if u want ur warranty back u should unroot it by using an unroot update package.
2)I dont think so that there is a stock ICS rom update for ur phone(Im not sure)
3)Did u try my folder removing method(See my previous post) to remove CWM.
4)Best ICS Custom ROm that i know is link
PLEASE PRESS THANKS BUTTON!!!!!!!!!!11
yes, i know i lose warrenty then, so i got unroot tool if i want. Unroot is easy, but if u **** up flashing a rom ur realy screwed. And as i said before, no, there isnt a 4.0 version yet, i know that. At last i dont think deleting the folder is the best idea, dunno how it works on android but if u delete a folder on, for example windows, the program is still installed but just fails to start, and will cause problems
UM It would be better if u dont abuse cause this post will get deleted due to flaming.
If u have rom manager install you can make a nandroid backup of your current rom so that u can revert back if anything wrong happens with ur custom rom.
Try to flash CWM again using Rom manager and then reboot to recovery through rom manager(Just try!)
my current rom is Cm 10.1 by erickas & UMS didnt work on my phone after installing this rom ( i tried different rom !!:crying but still not workin
i cant even downgrade to ofiicial gingerbread becoz in downloading mode my phone is not detected by ODIn ???
PLZ help me out !!!!!:silly:
you can use custom roms like cm7 or stock based roms
you don't need to flash stock rom again to downgrade from cm10.1

Easiest way to restore to stock is below,
Go to http://www.sammobile.com and download p3100's firmware based on your country.
Download Odin and using Odin Flash the downloaded firmware.
Use Cf-auto-root to root. And use Triangle Away if you like to rest flash counter.
If you need explanation for any of the steps, reply here. One of us can help you.
DEVICE : SAMSUNG GALAXY FIT GT S5670
CURRENT ROM : GB 2.3.6 STOCK
I rooted my device a long time ago..but flashed the recovery few days ago only.
So here's what happened?
i flashed "AMON-RA RECOVERY"..then found it to be old.
then tried to flash the "TJ-STYLE RECOVERY" ...BUT SOMEHOW IT DIDN'T WORKED and ODIN was taking very much time.
so aborted and then flashed "PRATYUSH.CREED 'S RECOVERY"... as mentioned in the guide in the forum that this could backup the STOCK ROM.
THEN as mentioned in the guide i took a NANDROID BACKUP of the stock rom ...(didn't knew the backup was successful or not)..
after creating the backup i tried to flash OFFICIAL CYNOGEN MOD 7.2.0 NIGHTLY.ZIP but the process ended very quickly notifying of successfull flashing...
instead when i rebooted after showing the sumsung animation the Device got hungup at a black screen with android written on it at a little right.
then i tried to restore the NANDROID BACKUP...but the recovery showed MD5 ERROR..
I thought may be a unlocked BOOTLOADER is required ..i googled it but couldn't find the procedure...
i then downloaded and flashed a STOCK_GB_2.3.6.tar.md5 rom..
this worked BUT REPLACED THE CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY WITH STOCK RECOVERY
.
.
.
NOW THE QUESTIONS :
1.why wasn't the NANDROID BACKUP successful ?
2.why didn't the OFFICIAL CYNOGEN MOD 7.2.0 worked ?
3.how can i unlock the BOOT LOADER if it is required for the CUSTOM ROMS ?
4.why the CUSTOM CLOCKWORK MOD got replaced by the STOCK RECOVERY on reflashing with stock rom ?
help me ...

i m a complete noob, but i will try to help u as much as possible ...
i think, there was a prob with flashing of custom recovery,
i m also on custom recovery (dunno which one) i flashed it as flashable zip frm recovery {i think i installed tj style fr odin then flashed the present recovery }
Also, wen u flash stock rom, u need to root it again ..
nondroid problem? mayb due to recovery problem ..
bootloader thing? sorry i dont knw anything bootloader thing ...
If i were u, i will first install tj style recovery from odin(it roots ur phone too, so no need to root it first) then either use it(its said to b most stable recovery around) or flash another recovery as flashable zip frm the present recovery ...
(i will avoid using odin fr each nd every thing ...)
Hope this helps ^^

HOW WOULD I DO THAT..?
means the tj-style recovery i have is in TAR format...
should i UNcompress and recompress it in ZIP format... ?
AND WHAT POSSIBLE DISADVANTAGES COULD BE FOR THE ODIN ?
1) Nandroid Backup works only for custom roms. For stock roms u can only take a backup but u cant restore (there's a recovery by pratyush.creed which does restore too but i didn't try so can't say)
2)Perhaps u didn't flash properly so it went into bootloop. Use CWM by TJ-style only and next time, wipe data, cache and dalvik cache and format /system just as a precautionary step before flashing custom rom.
3)Samsung Phones doesn't have locked bootloaders. So to flash a rom, u can do it easily
4) The stock rom u flash via ODIN contains stock recovery as well.
U cant flash recovery unless u have other custom recovery (well there is a flashable zip for CWM by tjstyle but i dont know whether it can be flashed via stock recovery). The only way u can do is through ODIN. Make sure ODIN is set properly and if u have windows 7, run it as administrator and better reinstall drivers.

All custom roms for android 4.x have few bugs. So, if you are okay with that, I will suggest installing CM11. It works nice except for few bugs here and there.
But, if you prefer a fully stable rom, you have to stick with android 2.3.6. In that case, I will suggest FlyOnGB rom. Also, you can try doing a factory reset and see if that helps.

FlyOnGB: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2353292
As for setting up odin, you can use it only to install md5 or tar files. nearly all custom rom are uploaded as zip file, and are to be flashed from recovery mode. You will need to copy the zip file to phone, and boot into recovery using Vol Up + Home + Power key. Of course, you will need to root your phone to go into recovery mode.

Custom roms are already rooted, so you don't need to do anything on them. To root a stock rom, you need to flash the cf-root for that particular rom, and then restart the phone. Use this link to download the cf-root file. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331253
To flash the cf-root file, first you need to flash the stock rom, and restart the phone. Then you can use Odin to flash the cf-root just like you flash a rom.
Google apps are your default android apps (play music, maps, google search and such). You don't need these necessarily, as you can download them from play store too. Few roms have bugs with play store apps, therefore they give you modified version of them in that thread.
If you want to flash the google apps, you can do it just like you do it for custom rom. After installing custom rom, just reboot to recovery mode. Now, select the google apps zip file, and install it the same way you installed the custom rom.
If you are stuck, follow the steps from those link as it is. Use this link for more help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1894737
