seriously, what the heck is market error 492? i haven't been able to download anything since a week ago, keep getting this message, error 492. i've been searching around in other threads, this problems also occuring in other devices. what's more, this error seems a new one, the thread discussing this is around Jan 2012.
anyone have any idea how to solve this problem? tried everything ppl says, including reformating my sd card, nothing works. still can't download anything from market. although android market sucks, i still need it to download some apps
try a factory reset.

Does factory reset also wipe out any installed updates? There are reports over on WPCentral that a factory reset improves performance...There are also conflicting posts regarding just what factory reset does?
I'll let you know when mines done, my touch covers being a bit random so doing a full reset..
It'll probably want to do updates once its done, unless when system updates are done those updates are pushed out to the recovery partition..

Nope it doesnt stick updates on the recovery partition, just rebooting now and doing 18 updates inc a FW update...
Wouldnt be a bad idea if it did write proper MS updates/FW out to the recovery partition, would save a lot of time if people ever have to reset the device...

It would be a *very* bad idea for MS to write updates to the recovery partition.
First of all, Recovery should only ever be mounted read-only (and should usually not be mounted at all); if something goes screwy or somebody does something dumb or there's some malware after all, you do not want it messing with that partition.
Second, what if the problem is *due* to an update? Unlikely, but it's a possibility and in that case you've screwed yourself over if you slipstream the update into the recovery.
Third, slipstreaming an update into a Windows install image (.WIM) file is not trivial. It's not terribly technologically complex, but it would make updates take longer and possibly require larger downloads. It also would probably increase disk usage over time (and the recovery partition doesn't have a huge amount of free space as is).
Fourth, the recovery partition is our ticket to roll back Windows RT if Microsoft makes a change to it we don't like. You shouldn't be so quick to give up what little freedom we have over the OS that runs on the device. For the sake of all of up, please don't request that MS do so.

This model appears in the list of the Google approved phones and seems to work extremely well.
The Android version is 4.0.4. Kernel version 3.0.21 –perf.
For some reason there are no Google apps on this telephone, which is extremely frustrating.
Also there is no way to add a Google user to “Accounts and sync”.
I understood there is a way of adding the Google Play store after rooting the phone.
After a lot of searching and trying, I have been able to root this telephone in an instant with ICS Root Unlocker 1.0.
I have Superuser and Total Commander can write to protected files.
I found a GoogleLoginService apk and a GoogleServicesFramework apk, which I installed.
After that I was able to add a Google account in accounts and Sync.
I was also able to install Google Talk and I can log in.
Then I installed several versions of the Google Play apk.
The application starts, loads some 48k data and the stops with the message “Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped”. Behind that message there is another message that probably asks for the user to accept or decline the Google conditions, but I cannot click because of the first message on top.
Some sites suggest to copy the vendor.apk to the system/app directory and install it after changing that file’s permissions. I did not try that because I’m a little scared of upsetting this directory.
Can anyone help me further ?
Can I flash the Gapps package without flashing a new Rom I don't seem to find one for this phone) ?
Do I need to edit the etc/hosts file ?

I have buyd the same phone, I have tried to instal several Google Play APKs and no one have worked.
When I tried to install a new Recovery, the phone stops and no more starts.
He start but only in DFU mode. I need a way to reflash the firmware, but I found nothin!
Another way that he starts is pressing Vol UP+DOWN+POWER. Windows asks for driver: 19d2:0249 (idVendor = 19d2, idProduct = 0249) but no were I have found this.
Can anyone help?
Just bought this phone from aliexpress. What guys can you tell about quality of it? Does it "crackling" or is there any other issues with case/screen? And what about play store? All ideas to get it working fails?

So my Nvidia Shield is in route after a much anticipated wait to finally having some extra funds to purchase one. I recall a while back with the most esteemed certainty when I check on the Nvidia shield tab of my Geforce experience was that the card was compatible with my ASUS G75VW laptop. When I updated my drivers today I looked at the shield tab and it said my PC is not ready for streaming to the shield... Evidently by some genius gesture, nvidia decided to make the card below mine (GTX 660M) and the card above mine (GTX 680M) compatible, yet mine the GTX 670M is not. . . Are there any workarounds to this that I may not be aware of or am I just SOL because of Nvidia's genius?
I was actually sent here from the nvidia forums where an actually moderator mentioned there may be some workaround here. I assume there is a way to bypass it but I am unfamiliar with this so called "rooting" process and if there is a guide some where where I can get this thing working I would really much appreciate it xD.

Download the App in the above link, make sure you have "Unknown Sources" checked in the "Security" section of the "Settings" App, otherwise it won't install, then just tap it in the notification centre or in a file manager, install, open, click "Make It Ra1n", wait for it to finish, wait an additional 20 seconds, then reboot. You'll have Root Access (but NOT an Unlocked Bootloader or a Custom Recovery, so NOTHING WILL BE DELETED!)
If that does not work try downgrading your graphics cards driver, it might have a bug if it worked before.
DISCLAIMER: IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THIS TO BRICK YOUR DEVICE IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL BUT THAT IS STILL VERY UNLIKELY TO HAPPEN!!!!

Thanks for all the great info, but what exactly does that file do for my shield as far as the purpose of "Rooting" it?
Just got notification of OTA update to patch stagefright on LS996.
Im rooted so I guess I'll wait for mods to update and patch root new system.img
Anyone know where I can pull the update.zip never done it in lollipop...
Pretty sure its in your /cache folder. Almost positive that is where I pulled my last OTA from. Good luck!

Thanks man, I actually wanted to delete it... I thought I had disabled updates thru disableservice app. But it downloaded the update anyway...
Try freezing the Update Center app. I unfroze it last night and the update hit this morning.
I installed twrp on my phone expecting to install a custom rom soon after. Come to find out that all the supposed guides for installing custom roms on this phone are phony. There is no rom for this phone, trust me, I've looked everywhere.
I need to replace the stock recovery so I can get ota updates. Anyone with this phone who can post it, I would highly appreciate it.
Even i am looking for Stock image file, can some one extract it from their devices and post it here. All places where ROM for this phone is found is behind a paywall, and i am also not sure if its genuine
