[Q] Samsung Galaxy Ace not coming up

Hi everyone,
I've got a BIG problem
I have a Galaxy Ace. A friend of mine played with it and Since then the phone is kinda dead
When I press the On/Off button, a series of vertical color bars appear on the screen (filling 2/3 of screen) [See attached]
Screen reduces the brightness in 5 secs
Then nothing happens and phone does not respond to any key combination
When I combine volume down with power buttons, the same thing happens although this time the phone camera flashes once!
Using the Volume up button gives me two flashes!
By the way, Odin recognize the phone on a COM port, but I don't know what I can do with that?
I also tried ADB REBOOT RECOVERY command in Android SDK as recommended by someone in here. It says DEVICE NOT FOUND
Does anyone have any idea how can I restore the phone to a normal state?

any Ideas? I'm very worried about the phone

Try holding homescreenbutton and on key. Recovery menu should turn up. Then perform a hard reset

I just bricked my ace today and there was no way I was able to fix it, the closest I got was getting the device into a 'connecting' state in the samsung kies software but didn't got any further, no screen no nothing..
Eventually I went back to the store and they replaced it without asking too many questions, I told them it died while doing a factory reset.

Yes looks like the ACE still got problems, my friend's ACE also hangs alot.
My problem is that I can't see anything on the scree (see pic above) I dpn't know what state the handset is in!!!
Any one has a link to a recent firmware for ACE that works?

Weird, don't know if the resistor trick that works on the Galaxy S could also apply on this model ?

i was trying to backup the current gingerbread 2.3.4 rom
n den suddenly the phone switched off
now its not turning on
i tried pressin the
VOL DOWN + HOME+ POWER KEY
inorder to go to download mode n re-flash it but
nothing appears on the screen
the phone is not responding at all
my cell was rooted
plz someone help me.......plzzz
im stuck!!!

Rom manager? If so your phone is dead. Do you honestly think selecting software meant for another device will work? Rom manager does not support the galaxy ace, yet. You've now ruined the partitions and so far noone has managed to get a successful unbrick. Make up a bull**** story and hope you get the phone fixed in warranty. Tata.

i was flashing a rom
everything was fine but when i choose to reboot the device
it never waked....
tried odin method also
reinstalled the usb drivers but no luck
i just can boot into emergency download mode ( vol up + vol down +home + power)
odin recognizes me at that mode
but stucks at setup connection ....
PLZ HELP !!!!

As per my knowledge if you can go to download mode its a soft brick. And are you flashing through one package if yes then don't use all four file and then try to flash

which ROM were u flashing?
galaxy fit + Chocobreadv1.2+ 768Mhz

it has bricked the second time
it's not under warranty
and i've tried one package option and also the 4 files

Then change your Signature......... If not then buy a new device or Change your motherboard

If you can go to the emergency download mode their is a method to unbrick phone

Hello, I don't mean to hijack your thread but I am unable to go into download mode on my phone too. I have been using CM 7.2 rc2 and CWM recovery. I need to flash the original firmware through odin to go back to the factory GB. Can anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

i think download mode is just vol down+home+power .... no vol up

Yes But Asad007 has said he was unable to go into normal download mode and instead tried to use the emergency download mode Which I think cannot be used to flash New Firmware....

I have exactly the same problem like you,odin find me only when i press volume up+ menu+ power wich is dump mode from what i know.
I buy a Usb Jig now i wait to receive it ,i think is the las thing that i can do ,then i will send to samsung warranty to replace the motherboard ,will see if will do that.
This is a hard brick so no method listed here don`t work because the screen is dead and computer see it only if you use dump mode

USB Jig doesnt support

As some of you speak of changing motherboard ... does such procedure cost much? Or do you guys all make this via warranty?

i believe it's all covered under the warranty.
though i doubt that they actually change the motherboard.

asad sir i know i m noob here but i have an suggetion my phone alsdid this and my comp. was not recognizing that then i tried from other computer and it worked i hope this would surely help you........
and if work than plz press thnx cz it wld be first thnx for me......

If your phone has bricked try using riff box jtag.

i have the same problem like yours... any button combination wont bring back to life my phone... i think thats the hard brick.... when you can enter to odin its soft brick... is usb jig method applicaple for this problem??

[Q] HELP potential brick

my phone is canadian version of g2x, p-999dw (wind mobile)
my phones not bricked turns on but stuck at team eagle blood after trying to upgrade to ICS 4.0.3 fallow instructions online i screwed up now i need help
when i get stuck on logo power + volume up will = hard restart after i hold and press for 5 sec.
power + volume down at boot screen hold tell recovery, this is where i need help because these are the functions on my phone in the system recovery version <3e>
volume control = up/down
home key = menu display enable/disable
and i don't have a batten on my phone to select any options
so how can i fix my phone used just my computer?
please i need help by the end of work today!!!!

Use the volume keys to navigate through the options then use the power button to select the option that you need.

try nvflash'in it again.. that will resolve you.

i've tried the power batten it really does nothing at all....

When you're scrolling down and hit the bottom of the menu and it goes back to the top if you do it a few times it says the buttons were disabled and you have do it again a few times to re-enable them. You wouldn't happen to be disabling the buttons and that why it doesn't work? You could also try using the touch version of CWM

Do you have rom manager installed rite?

man i dont have anything on my phone i cant load it, ive tried to load ATX mode but it is a no go
im stuck with the TEAM EB logo stuck on my phone ive powered down tried to get to recovery but i can not select any options i can only display them
and yes my power button still works valume up + power hold for 5 sec reboots the phone

can i fix this threw my computer because im having a hard time running nvflash....

Hey bro, the search button is the select button...and your phone is the same as Tmobile here in the states. Still a great phone.

and im using the android system recovary <3e> not clockworksmod because clockworksmod isnt installed any more

the only button that works man is the home button... and it just pulls up the menu or hides it
my search button will not do anything...

power key is not working.initialy cel was working fine arund 4 mnths backs.thn i flashed kyrilos cm7.thn capactive touch keys stoped working.cel use get hang and screaan use to get dead.thn i went back to froyo used it a bit thn came back to 2.3.7 cm7.i faced same prob again but this time power key was not working properly.i had to press it realy long or many times to power it on.last i flashed hercolumbous.thn my cel got switched off it thn it didnt switch on.it was dead for couple of weeks.thn i tried holding power key down+home key+thn plug in the charger.thn it went in download mode.thn i flashed stock rom.initally thn capacitive touch and scren was not responding but later on it statred working.thn i flashed purumodrom and running currently.stil i power key is not working.plzzzz...someone find a solution

could you please clarify how could you switch on the phone if the button was not working

First pres home key and volume down key simultaneously.while u r presing both the key plugin ur cell phone charger .and see to it charger buton is on ie it will work as power key and cel wil go in download mode.

It has to be a hardware related issue.

[Q] SGR won't boot after ICS update

Few days ago I updated to ICS. Here are the steps that I followed:
1. Downloaded the ROM and entered the DM mode in SGR
2. Using ODIN I updated the OS to ICS
I am not/was not very knowledgeable about other steps that needed to be done. Everything went well (at least it look to be the case then), but noticed that when on Wi-Fi and using the facebook app, my phone often freezes up. A force re-start use to solve the problem. However today, the phone didn't reboot after a force closure.
I have tried going to the recovery mode. I get the android logo but it shuts down soon after that.
I was hoping to enter the download mode and install another version of OS but the phone doesn't go to the download mode. Couple of time it went to something called "Safe Mode" but the screen was unresponsive. Also I think the de-bug node might not be checked on in my phone
And now finally it is showing something called "encryption failed error" and asks me to do a "reset settings". When i click that nothing happens and the screen goes blank.
My phone is still under warranty. Not sure if installing ICS would have made it void. Any suggestion as to what can be done to get out of this mess will be much appreciated.

To enter the DM mode, I press the Power Key + Home + Volume Down key and I get the Samsung splash logo and then a message which says "Encryption Failed" Unable to complete encryption because of interruption.Perform factory data reset (earsing all your data before use). After resetting, try encrypting device again.

1. Is your phone able to boot ?? If nt then they cant check what r u running...
2. Is ur dwnload counter more than 0 ?? If yes then it mite b a prob..
These are some steps dat any ssc do..
Also ur fone is under warranty, then visit ssc n say dat it happend durin updatin via kies...
Also ics for sgr is nw officially out..so dat wont void d warranty...!!

Thanks for the suggestion.
I can't make the phone to boot. Not sure if the SSC guy would be able to.
Is there a way to check the download counter given that I am not able to boot?

If the phone absolutely won't power on then the SSC will replace your motherboard without any questions asked..

Took them a week but that's what they did. And I am happy that it was still under warranty
