Can I? If yes then what do I need to choose in device selection?

Am I correct in assuming that you can only have one recovery program installed at a time? Also does the original native recovery remain on the phone as that is what you'd want with a soft brick?

That's right. Only one recovery at a time. And it replaces the stock recovery.

So you can get to it, whether it's cwm or twrp etc, with the buttons like during a boot failure?

Yes. You can boot into any recovery that's currently installed using the button combo.

No problem. There's no way unless you flash a custom ROM that's as closed to stock as possible.

^ agreed! flash a custom stock rom in recovery such as beans or synergy...thats as close as you will get to stock without using odin.
Took me awhile to figure this out.
And what I found out is you have to flash one of the stock roms before the kernel or it won't work. You have to be unlocked of course. Flash any Rom in cwm then after it installs and your still in recovery flash the stock kernel. Here's a link to the kernel

If I installed both, what would happen when I reboot into recovery? Will I get to choose one over the other upon booting?
You can't install both
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Whichever you installed last would be your recovery.

Thank you guys. These two recoveries are both great and similar. But I like to use CWM especially the new touch version.
Twrp is better than classic cwm in my opinion, didn't try the touch one

Hey guys. My gs3 is running jellybean 4.3 and its rooted with saferoot. Everything is fine but I want a little more performance. Is there a way I can flash a custom kernel and make it faster or do I have to flash a ROM and then flash the kernel with safestrap? Any help will be great

You need to flash the kernel modules, you don't mess with the kernel at all. It'll brick the phone.

Ok keynel modules not kernel itself.. Ill add to my sticky notes

Hi all, as the title says is it possible? I dont have access to a computer but want to get rid of this laggy crap.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Yes.
Use Mobil Odin.
Um... you must already be rooted though.
Sent from my SGH-T999N using Tapatalk

Sent from my GT-P5110 using Tapatalk
