[Q] What is swap, supercharger v6 /nitro ? - General Questions and Answers

hi guys. I have Desire Z, rooted with Your fantastic guide in its section. Ive tried many roms and I reall like those with 3,5 like recent virtuous 2.0.5.0
But I have like 60mb of free memory with it.
Desire Z have 512 memory
1gb internal storage
and 8gb sd card
Everyone on Desire Z section is saying. "yep, did the swap and supercharger and it rocks now" but nobody explains what and how
Ive also found that swap market app suck and blocks sd card.
My guess is that the swap they are talking about is using internal storage to create 256mb file there for constant? any tutorial and explanation?
Thanks!

I have the same question. I have installed Virtuous Affinity 2.05.0 based on Runnymede (hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346500).
its really nice everything but it lags a lot on my t-mobile g2 (with dz hboot)

I think you need to have Ice Cream Sandwich

what kind of anserw is that? Do You even know what are You talking about?

The term swap usually comes from the linux "swap partition" which is an extra partition that is used to enhance the phones RAM, i.e. if RAM is full, move lesser used item from RAM to swap partition.
Similar to the windows pagefile.

I just started looking into the Supercharger script myself, for my Nexus S. I THINK what you want to look at is the V6 Supercharger script by Zeppelinrox!
Here's a link! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
All the information you would ever need on the script is in that post, remember to hit the thanks button for his contribution
Oh as for the swap function, you might look into partitioning SD card here http://lmgtfy.com/?q=swap+partition

[Q] How to make camera write to internal sd?

Hey I'm new to xda and android, and I have CM7 n42 on my g2x with faux's kernel and everything is running great.
I have been using the cm7 30fps camera here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1094424
But, I was wondering if there was a way to have the camera write to the internal sd instead of the external. I only have a class 4 card and I was wondering if writing to internal would help keep up with large files? Thanks to anyone who can help

The answer would depend not only on personal preference but also on compatibility with which ROM you want to use, with which kernel, and what type of sdext you would like to use. I think lots of users also use cronmod but I have little experience with move to sd scripts because I think they're more trouble than they're worth.
Post your desired ROM and kernel, somebody may be able to help you more easily. Or if you aren't getting any responses try reading through the threads of the ROM and/or kernel you are using.
My phone is running on stock gb with tagb kernel, I would like to use cronmod script but which one is recommended? Int2ext or a2sd++?? What is the difference? HOW WILL I INSTALL SOME APPS ON INTERNAL MEMORY IF I WANT TO, AFTER INSTALLING CRONMOD INT2EXT.

I like titanium backup pro.

is swap process results noticable ???

after i rooted my htc desire and installed many roms ... i am now on cron.mod rom bravo v.2.3.7 with int2ext and swap i swapped about 1 GB to by virtual rams and speed up my phone as the int2ext make my htc slower than before ....... my int2sd in 1 GB olso ..... but the speed up of swap isnt noticable for me ..is that a proplem in my phone or the swap is really useless
I am facing the same problem.
I think we should use a class 4 or higher sd card for swapping more than 512 mb.
But there should be at least some minimum value which our slow card and phone can support without lag or crashes.
Looking for some relavent answer..!

Need clarification

Is it necessary to create sd partion for cyanogenmod roms like Cm10,mini. Cm9 Etc.or else just install from.sd card is enough?Need help
Sent from my MT27i using xda app-developers app
You have to create partitions either for oc'ing or for using scripts like m2sd, int2ext.
If you're good with 150mb internal memory and dont wanna oc, no need of any other partition
This is only for cm roms or sense roms also
Sent from my MT27i using xda app-developers app
Only for cm's, most of sense roms (all 4 and some of 3.5), have included memory scripts, so you will need ext partition. If you so much don't want to use ext in sense 3.5 it's possible, but with sense 4 you can't go without ext, the part of the rom stays on that ext because sense 4 is too big to fit in smal internal memory of the phone. And may I just ask why you don't want to make ext partition, it's simple enough.
(Sorry if there are a lot of vocabulary mistakes, for some no obvious reason, chrome won't play ball for showing me wrong words)

MK809iii clone RAM issue...

Hello. I recently bought a MK809iii clone (GT318) but after ROM update it loses 1GB RAM of its 2GB default ...
The new ROM told me I have 2GB RAM installed, but it's restricted to 1GB as usable RAM.
Is there a way to remove that restriction to get back my 2GB RAM fully usable?
Greetings.
you've found a fix ? thanks you
Nope ... do you have the same problem?

yea, i guess it's a problem of the rom/kernel... i'm running this rom : http://www.freaktab.com/showthread....m-MK809III-Version-3-1-Android-4-4-2-*Update* with the included kernel
not sure
Yes, i'm using that ROM too (Neomode 3.1 KitKat) but also tried other roms (+10... including similar ones) and none of them can't get the 2GB default ram ...
I guess it's kernel problem since default kernel gave me back full 2gb ram... but default kernel sucks !

can you use more than 1GB with stock kernel ? because maybe the kernel is hacked to show 2GB but there only 1GB.. ?
Mhhh... I didn't tried to full ram yet, but why "CPU Device Identifier" app is telling me that I have "2GB installed ram and 1024MB usable" on neomode's rom ???
i don't know, but do you remember about those fake USB stick and SDcard labelled as higher space storage (for exemple the OS see 16GB, but you can use only 4gb) ? maybe it's the same
i'm too lazy to reflash stock rom to try it

+1 ... the only way I found to gain more ram was by enabling ZRAM to 512MB... so I got 1024+512MB but I guess isn't the same performance when using real ram ...

they scammed me TWICE , once for the 3188T instead of the 3188 and now 1GB instead of 2GB, all on the same key.
Is it the "quad cord" one? LOL I bought it today without knowing these issues, why did you flashed to a different ROM? is there any functional issues with the stock one?

stock rom was lagging AS HELL when playing 720p/1080P movies and it was the old android 4.2 :S
now i have android 4.4 and also movies play very smooth (for a x264 720P, my load average is only 1.20 of 4.00while my cpu run between 300 and 800mhz)
i had to underclock to 1.2GHZ (stock freq was 1.4ghz) because otherwise the key was random rebooting, i think it was rom problem, not 100% sure. anyway 200mhz don't matter in performances!
awesome little key

MK809III exist in multiples versions (cpu and wifi chipset can change), if you flash a rom for the other wifi chipset, the rom will run but your wifi will not work.
i have the Wifi chip Ap6210 so i use this rom : http://www.freaktab.com/showthread....m-MK809III-Version-3-1-Android-4-4-2-*Update* (it's probably the best forum about android hdmi keys, xda forum about hdmi key seem pretty much abandoned.. )
flash is pretty easy, you download the rom you launch RKAndroidTool.Exe (included in the zip), plug the hdmi stick to your computer (you need to have the drivers installed, they are in the /drivers folder of the zip), you press the button "RUN" and you're done!
there probably few others roms and guides avaiable over internet
Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it!
So I flashed my device last night with the ROM that turlulu linked here. It works very smooth I could watch some anime videos encoded with 10bit, I could also noticed that the WiFi is more stable now, BUT though it didn't stop working at a moment it "slowed down" I had to disable and enable it again to get it back to normal. Which app are you using to see how much RAM do you have? I installed CPU-Z and even with this ROM it shows 2GB I opened the stick and found this
i.imgur.com/QKHj9L4.jpg
I googled it but I couldn't find any detailed information about this chip, though my processor is RK3188T @ 1.4Ghz
you can see the ram in android settings, also i din't tried much Wi-Fi
ho, and i use MX player pro (only apk, i've not installed additionnal codecs ), it work very well i can read all my videos without issues, people tell that it's the best, but i din't tried other players.
i use nova launcher https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher&hl=en
because it support icons pack, but there other launchers which support icons pack
and this awesome icon pack : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xda.miroex&hl=en
installing this is very much required
Hey @wichoxp i came from the future haha, did you found a solution to the ram issue? I have 2GB but it just shows 1GB. I don't know what to do. I thought this problem was because the parameter files but no.
@bloodlithium I'm pretty sure that these "quad-cord" devices are only 1GB RAM... original (factory) rom fakes RAM size to 2GB. I'm really not worried about this, my device is fast with 1GB. Also kitkat 4.4.2 rom supports ZRAM so I got +500MB when enabling it. So I have 1.5GB RAM actually !

Thanks for response @wichoxp Yes, i was reading something about this "fake ram". What a thieves... haha, anyway i will do the Zram improvement that you mention and that's all. The only problem is the overheating even with the processor in 1,2 ghz. I will still optimizing i think. Greetings and thanks a lot.
