Hi everyone!
I recently got a Sensation XE on Vodafone AU and as many of you know, there doesn't seem to be a RUU available for this device.. I've searched all over XDA and there's nothing
I want to try my hand at the latest ICS ROMs, but am a tad nervous about doing so seeing that I will have to flash to the latest firmware / radio and I don't have a RUU to bring me back to stock if something goes wrong..
The stock radio used by the phone is 10.58.9035.00P_10.15.9035.02_2.
I was wondering:
a) Would it be possible to do a backup of my radio using fastboot (I believe nandroid / CWM recovery doesn't backup radio); and
b) Will flashing the radio of the same version number on the thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178143) ... essentially bring me back to stock radio? Vodafone AU's Sensation XE supports the 850MHZ WCDMA/3G frequency .. will I lose this by flashing the radio from this thread? Is this thread only for Sensation or Sensation XE?
Sorry for the questions, I am really stuck!
Thanks!

a.) No, I don't think you can backup the radio.
b.) Yeah by flashing that radio you should be back to stock and it won't mess up your frequencies. Looks like the radio is for the Sensation and Sensation XE but do double check.
Before you go about installing ICS just do a nandroid of the stock ROM and keep it in a safe place.

k0zmic, thanks heaps for the reply! I really appreciate it, because I do want to have a crack at ICS, but am a little scared there's no fall back option for me atm lol ..
How do I check whether the radio is compatible with Sensation XE as well? I know that they are essentially the same phone, but apparently there are small differences like underclocking?

Hey dr3wster, I had a look in the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559
and the file factory directory (towards the bottom of the list) has a VodafoneAU ruu in there, I have downloaded and kept this safe for myself as I too have a Vodafone AU Sensation XE Handset.
Hope this helps.

Folks,
I'm looking for the stock RUU for my Sensation. The current software version is 1.45.707.2.
The phone is rooted and S-off. I want to reinstall the stock recovery so that I can apply updates from HTC. Also, I want to be able to install the stock ICS update when it is released.
My phone is off-network. The CID from the "getprop ro.cid" command is HTC__044, whereas if I use "fastboot getvar all" I find my cidnumb is 11111111. It also lists my modelnumb as PG5813000.
Anyway, I'd be grateful if someone could suggest the most appropriate RUU to use with the Android Recovery Manager.
Bump please!

Thanks EddyOS for your help. Is it OK to use this as my stock ROM to get the recovery? I do want to reflach CWM once the update is installed.
Flash the RUU and you're back to 100% stock (but with S-OFF). Once you've eventually gone through the various OTA updates you'll need to flash before ICS, and the ICS OTA itself, you'll still S-OFF so you can flash CWM by using a PG58IMG.zip as you won't have a fully unlocked bootloader so fastboot commands won't work

When upgrading to ICS you need to update your firmware. There's a thread by mike1986 that'll help you. You can find it in developer thread.

Yes, you need a newer firmware that's running ICS correctly.
It as been updated to the latest firmware to run ICS but the lad I bought it off said then's when all the problems began. So I was thinking of trying to downgrading it back to gingerbread [stock or custom rom] to see if that would sort the problems out

Have you installed a Custom Firmware or a Stock-Rom from ICS?
What firmware has you installed yet?
it was already rooted with a custom ISC rom installed So it came straight from a stock gingerbread rom to a custom ISC rom
Hello Freddy!
Have you tried to install another custom rom or re-install the one you already have? My guess is that it's not ICS that's messing with you but rather the ROM/firmware is. My tip for a rom is Ordroid (You can find it in the developer section of the sensation forum).
I don't know how experienced you are with rooting/flashing roms etc but when you go from one ROM to the other it's recommended to format the different partions (except SD-card).
Also here is a thread about different firmwares and how to install them if you don't want to change rom and just try a different firmware to see if it gets any better
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
Here you have an all-in-one thread linking to different guides and fixthreads etc as well

How do you know if your downloading the right firmware [Unlocked UK sensation]
You can also download the latest ICS RUU. Then you will be completely stock, with the correct firmware. from there you can always try custom roms If you don't like the stock ones.
You can find the RUU's in the Pyramid Shipped Roms thread in de developers section

Hi
I decided to try and restore it to stock gingerbread rom put am not sure what rom and firmware I will need
You van download the RUU in the Shipped roms thread, If you run the RUU then everything will be installeren, firmware, radio, rom etc.
You can find the thread in the developers section. For europe you need the RUU with RUU_PYRAMID_1.50.401.2 in it's file name.

usually
go to the development section of htc sensation and look for virtuous or another ics and inside that same post, they will tell you which pyramid you can install, for your cellphone,
Flash a stock GB RUU so you will be putting the phone back to out of the box. Then start fresh reading all the tutorials available
am not sure which one i would need though
http://db.tt/1vf53aOI
This is a link for the 1.45 europe RUU. You can update it OTA to 1.50 to get the latest Gingerbread rom. Make sure you have the correct CID either HTC__001 or superCID.
If you want to flash the stock ICS rom then here's the RUU for that: http://db.tt/KLhJSmgk

CID... Is carrier identification.. It is to identify which model is linked to which carrier or whether it is unbranded.
A device with a particular cid.. Only receives update from that carrier only. (eg recently TMOBILE US ppl got ics)
If your cid is HTC__001 then your phone is Europe unbranded (not linked to any carrier) one
Now supercid is a unique cid (11111111)
That lifts carriers restrictions.. If you got supercid you can install official rom's (RUU) of any carrier and any country
Sent from my pyramid.. Through blazing fast sonic waves
Its unlocked to work with any network Is the supercid part of the rooting process
Guys I see a lot of roms that tells you what firmware is recommended but it dowsnt show you on how to know which firmware you have.
I recently got this phone sensation 4g from tmous. came with ICS.
I rooted it, s-off it, and hboot 1.27.1111
how can i know what firmware do I have? and I guess I need to be on 1.33
and another question is anybody still using super wipes in here? seems like the more ics roms dont tells you that you need to do a super wipe
and can I still use superwipe when flashing new roms?

Their is a firmware thread that gives all the firmwares with unlocked bootloaders. Also a rom will state if you should super wipe or not. But as a rule of thumb do not super wipe when installing a aosp or aokp rom. Only sense roms seem to be compatible.
Also since you have ics as stock It would be safe to assume you have the 3.32 firmware as this is what is linked in most if the s-off guides I believe.

Because 3.33 is the newest firmware and what some devs recommend for there roms. Even though 3.32 is the same as 3.33. So if you have 3.32 your ok.The only real difference is the radio. So if you just update your radio. You should be fine.
you can update to 3.33 but right now you dont have to. eventually maybe. setting > about phone will also tell you firmware version on phone, or maybe just the firmware of the rom, not sure. If you read the firmware thread then you will understand firmware and settings and not make a mistake. end up with reboots or tac nyan or some ****.

Finding out the firmware version is one of the most basic information you need to know. Hint: Bootloader has nothing to do with it.
Odoslané z HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio cez Tapatalk 2
What he's trying to tell you is if you get to your boot loader (by pulling battery putting battery back in pressing volume down and power at the same time) the information about your device will be there...if you want to upgrade to 3.33 you flash the v pg58img file. You put on root of sd card boot into boot loader the way I showed you then it will ask to update press power for yes. Then DELETE the file! If you don't delete it it will continuously try to update. That's all there is to it. Hope I've helped.if so press thank you. Have fun updating.

Hi there, I am T-Mobile sensation 4g. I can confirm that yes as long as you are S-off you can flash any Rom to your sensation you like. Just make sure you have the correct firmware for the Rom you are wanting to run. Rule of thumb is ICS roms run on android 3.32 or 3.33. Firmware. Very important. 3.33 is the newest firmware but most ics roms run on both . As long as your soff and have the correct firmware your good to go. I highly recommend you using 4ext recovery also. It's a easy to use recovery that most of us use . Some roms actually are not booting unless 4 ext is installed. It's extremely easy to use and you will love it. It makes flashing a breeze. Remember before you flash to always do a nandroid backup . This is for your protection. If you have an issue you can easily restore your backup. Hope this information has helped you some. Don't worry about T-Mobile. I enjoy any Rom I want whenever I want to flash without any issues. Best wishes !
