Waiting until the official ICS update comes out - HTC Sensation

I played around with the custom ICS today & I like the interface 'n all but there were a couple of problems (most noticeably, WiFi wasn't connecting). So I'll just stick with GB until the official version comes out. How does everyone else like ICS?

The smoothness and battery life is a musthave, the instability sucks, but the battery life and overall performance is so great, that I can't force myself to reflash 1.17 and a Sense rom.

Sense 3.5/3.6 looks really ugly to me.. but probably because I prefer the blue look that I get with the Blue Sky skin in Sense 3.0. Even with that skin on Sense 3.6, everything is completely black.. and sleek round buttons of 3.0 are replaced with really fugly huge rectangular buttons; it looks like a step backwards in UI. The browser is very fluid, but the top controls don't look quite right either.
Hopefully that's just a beta thing since it's a leaked test build. Might push me to whack out Sense and go CM9 down the line. Then again, even AOSP keeps changing with every version.. why can't Google design one decent looking UI and run with it?

i also created an extreme blue theme

I use Elegancia ICS 2.1.6. This is blue, stable as a rock and blazing fast. Never had any problem with this ROM.

I use Android Revolution HD 6.1.0 and it's AMAZINGLY stable and the battery life is epic. So much so that I'm almost afraid to update to the latest version.
23hrs 24m on battery, Display on 2h 22m, 1h 1m of voice calling. My best up-time before I reset a few days was 144hrs with no random reboots or other issues as seen in the screenshots below
Edit: I don't even use Juice Defender anymore, I keep data (or wifi) on all the time

I'll wait. I rooted and romed the crap out of my n1, I don't mind waiting for ics ota.

Currently on VI 3.0. For the most part I like it, it feels really fluid and snappy and quite stable. But I'm considering going back to GB for two reasons: Can't run juicedefender and wifi tethering is broken. Can't post in the developer's thread because of new account...

It seems the release isn't that far... HTC hub started working for me today on AR HD 6.2.1 (it didn't worked before at least in my phone)

I can't complain about Wifi not working. Tried four or more ICS Roms, all are fine! I think the devs do a great job!

That might be so but it's not working for me. The Sensation would broadcast and I can connect, but I can't browse the web. When I go into manage users, there's never an IP address for my computer, only the MAC address.

baadnewz fixed wi-fi conenctivity and wi-fi calling in his latest rom.

I am using ICS ROMs since they started getting posted...I don't like the idea of going backwards so to speak however I wish there was a pure AOSP ROM with working bluetooth. I can't wait to get my hands on CM9

Hi, Someone else having a issue said to try this which worked for them:
Turn on portable hotspot. Pull down the notification bar and go into the hotspot settings. Turn it off but without exiting hit the option button and go into advance, then lan settings and hit reset. Go back change ur name and password and turn it on.

Have a look HERE in the Ics fixes thread. The work around for wi-fi tether is about the eighth one down in the first post.

waiting.
from the amaze camera failing or wifi/wifi calling not working its not worth it at this sstage. I have the Elegancia GB ROM and i don't use Sense so it is fast and what I need right now.
I will wait until there is a stable ROM after the ICS release so I can tweak and get the Amaze camera ported over. i LOVE that thing.

I have used the test leak RUU roms and a few custom ICS roms. The performance is snappy and battery life was best with the stock, non-'hex-edited' kernels, although there is a sweetspot I have found that works for me: use the custom kernel (or stock for XE) at 1.5 GHz (not 1.7 GHz, as I have had random phone crashes/hangs/restarts etc.) and enable the 2nd core. Works fine if you can put up with the small number of bugs you might come across, although most of these have been ironed out with sense 3.6 and the custom roms are always updating their firmware/rom base.
Loving ICS, cant wait for official release and kernel sources for more power and battery life

Anyone knows a good gingerbread rom besides CM7?

I tried CM7 and it looks sick and I liked a lot but is broken on incoming video with yahoo messenger, also it detects my headphones as headset wich disables the mic on calls .
So I'm hoping to stay on 2.3, but need those 2 things urgently to be able to talk and watch a girl at the same time (LOL) I dont use speaker phone cuz sometimes my room fan too noisy and the inspire is not that loud xD
Try Inspiredsaga. I have tried rcmixhd. But i find Inspiredsaga to be best, cleanest and most stable ROM.

+1. MIUI is so slick, I can hardly hold on to my phone. Looks a little too much like the iPhone setup for my tastes, but drop a launcher like Launcherpro, ADW, or GoLauncher on it and it rocks.
If you want a Sense ROM, try RCMix 5.9
Coredroid is nice, i have been switching between that and CM7 myself..

MIUI is nice, but I tried it last week with mixed results. Most of it worked perfectly, but the phone would reboot every time I plugged it into my PC's USB port with USB Debugging enabled.
I'll probably get back to it eventually, though, rather liked it. For now, I'm still on one of the early rooted+cleaned stock roms (can't remember which one, though), and that works very well, though getting tired of sense a bit.
Ultimate droid is my new favorite. Faster and smoother than any other that i have tried. Kind of minimalist in some senses but far ahead in others. It came mes. Down to personal preferance.

+1 on ultimate droid!
It's like CM7 on steriods! Super fast!
thanks for all u guys suggestions, i currently have ultimate droid and is more faster and customizable than cm7 but.... has the same problem i had wiz cm7 Yahoo video calls and this time detect headphones instead of headset but cant hear call from headphones :/
+Miui camera seems unstable when trying to choose color effects it fc.
At the moment I will just try out more roms and if they dont work i will have to go back to sense based rom.
PS: I Had coredroid and is fast and improved my net speed but... Is not so customizable and I don't like its graphics much.
If anyone knows a Sense based rom with theme chooser that would be a blast even tho maybe is not possible?
i was on revolution 3.0 and it was SO stable.
i just switched to inspired saga and i love teh 'stock' gingerbread feel of it. quite stable. few to no issues with it
thanks for the input

This is a known issue with the HTC Sync drivers, forces a bootloop with the latest MIUI build. Uninstall HTC Sync (you don't need it with MIUI anyway), and no bootloop.
I know about the HTC sync issue, but for whatever reason, that did not fix my problem. I would still get reboots without it (not as often, but often enough).
Honestly I didn't pursue it too much, so not sure what else could have been causing the issue. I'll still probably go back to miui in a few weeks.
I went from Android Revolution 3.3 to MIUI, and I thought MIUI was nice, but seemed to zap my battery. Just sitting idle with screen off it was averaging 39-50mA of usage, where as AR averages 2-7mA.
I will probably try out these others ones, particular RCMix and Inspired Saga as well to see how they perform. Battery usage is a big deal to me, I basically need my phone to last at least 10 hours on a single charge.

I have stuck with ARHD 6 at the moment.
Their first ICS release was buggy and gaming was a bit of a no go, so i went over to InsertCoin for a while until the 4.0.3 came from ARHD.
Been using that since yesterday with 1.5cpu 300gpu kernel and so far it seems very stable, still no dungeon hunter though

Nothing BEST you can find. The only available is FIT with your need. Tell us what you like, what you want, what you need. User here probably can assist to give you some opinion. I'm on ARHD 6.0.2 but discharging all 3d widget, and all widget. I do like plain AOSP, but I feel comfortable with htc mail, contact and keyboard. when take "combined" rom aosp-sense ... some featur not work properly. i.e incoming call not show Icon on combining aosp+sense. HTC camera driver is better than aosp, thus I made ARHD 6.0.2 as plain as possible only 145 app left. changed roboto font to bitstreamVerasan ... roboto is too small for me.
It's main reason we join xda ... to learn and having fit ROM ... stock always give you what you dont need and dont use

Well, I enjoy flashing all of them while they are in the stages of development. I like to think of each Rom like that of a child. They all start out seeking the same goal, but instinctively over time each one starts to develop a different personality. Some, and no fault of their own, are a little slow while some are pushed to fast and suffer a lack of control. Some can be predictably stable but not overly exciting. While the other side wonder about with a mind of their own seeking direction. So, to best answer your question, have some fun and challenge yourself by giving them all a chance. Isn't that why you are here on XDA? Lastly, and without a bit of irony, I have paused curiously checking out this kid that was quirky at first, but now is starting to feel comfortable and trustworthy. Ive noticed over the days a quick pace in mind which ends at the finish without any lag or do overs yet knows their is much to be learned. Finally, standing strong, front and center, I refer to you "Virtuous Inquisition 2.0.1"
Wld u consider these roms for daily use? A lot of folks end up gng back to GB...

There's no going back for me or many other members using ICS!
Well, I did like Virtuous Inquisition 1.4.2 very much, but have found many bugs in 2.0.1 that took my pleasure away (FCs here and there, can't choose Ringtones, etc.). I am using 1.4.2 as my daily driver and think it's pretty far away from an early alpha stage. But there are bugs... e.g. can't use the QuickLinks more than once in Dolphin Browser Mini, Winamp seems to be buggy etc.
Came from CM7 Alpha, so I'm used to use an alpha for my sensation Hate Sense, so AOSP or nearly AOSP fits me most.
Just my 2 Cents
If you didn't upgrade to ICS yet don't do it!
Why?
Because:
-Scrolling is slow
-Some games are not working
-Many apps FC
-Battery is horrible if using wifi
-SD messing up from time to time
-ZERO mods because htc's systemui is not compatible with apktool
So better stay with GB or wait for CM9
Have to admit, scrolling is a turn-off... Also had many FCs. Otherwise, I like the speed improvement. Don't have much battery drain.
@vegetaleb: Which ICS Rom(s) did you try?
Read somewhere, that InsertCoins ICS might be very good...
.edit: Virtuous Inquisition 2.0.1 is now working a lot better. Probably installed some 1.4.2 Apps from HTC via Titanium Backup which caused htc.com FCs.
I am using ARHD 6.0.2(ICS 4.0.3) And is amazingly smooth ,fast, very good battery life, waiting for CM ICS stable now .

My ROM experience

People are always posting up new threads asking for advice on this ROM vs. that ROM. Well, I haven't tried them all, but I've tried quite a few of the more popular ones recently. I'm not going to pick these ROMS apart. If you want more info about what I liked or didn't like about a particular ROM I've tried, go ahead and ask.
I got my Sensation back in January. I used the stock Gingerbread for a couple of months. Then got frustrated when the T-Mobile ICS update got delayed and have been on a flashing frenzy ever since.
I've been trying a lot of ROMs lately. I started with ARHD, then went to Elegancia, then Hypernonsense, then back to Elegancia, then Sense 4 Elegancia, then back to 3.6, then Virtuous Inquisition, then Opensensation (CM9), and back to Elegancia again. I've also tried Sebastion, faux, and bricked kernels - I prefer bricked best.
I honestly don't a see a performance difference between Sense, stripped Sense, or AOSP ROMs. I have System Tuner Pro and always monitor memory usage. I thought that the stripped and AOSP ROMs would have gobs of free memory available, but they just don't. They're no better or worse. I also was compelled to try those ROMs to improve battery life. Again, the experience didn't match the hype.
It all comes down to personal preference. Each ROM has its own glitches. But from my experience, full Sense 3.6 ROMs are the most functional and most stable. I loved the Sense 4.0 ROM I tried, except that Sense crashed on me like 3 times a day having to pull the battery each time. For me, nothing beats the Sense widgets. I live in the email and calendar widgets for work and the music widget in the car. No other widgets come close.
I think I'm gonna quit screwing around with it for a while. I am very happy with the Elegancia Sense 3.6 ROM / Bricked kernal combo. It's pretty much already modded/themed the I way I would do it. I can just flash it and go. I will try the Sense 4.0 version again when it's more mature. I loved it, I just can't have my phone crashing on me constantly.
I still want to try MIUI and will probably try CM9 again when it's official. I really like some of the home screen setups people have been able to pull off with their AOSP ROMs. But I think the widgets will always pull me back to a full Sense ROM. The only widgets that can compete, you have to pay for - and they're still not as good. Also, the AOSP camera blows compared to the Sense camera. In the end, it's all about what's functional for you.
In conclusion, try a few, try a bunch... don't get lost in the hunt for better battery life and more performance, because - 1) those 2 things don't go together... & 2) those 2 things are largely the same across all ROMS whether you're full Sense, stripped-Sense, or AOSP. Just find what you like and enjoy!
SO wutZ da best roms to use?
Just joking, but it's too bad some people are serious.
Its all about your liking that's it otherwise there is not a rom whit better battery life than any others

I've been using Ordroid (Sense4) for a week or so now and I've found it quiet stable to be honest. I haven't experienced any crashes.
The batterylife was in 5.0.X about 17 hours (2 hours of screen turned on).
V6.0.0; I can't say if there are anything wrong just yet since its been out for about 2 days only and I've used it for 1 day. but the first batterycycle was about 21 hours with 2h 5m screen turned on. Only thing I could complain about with Ordroid is the partially working BT, I can't say anything about the Wifi-tethering issue because I am not using it.
Hmm, well I guess that was that.
The partially working Bluetooth issue is across all Sense 4 ROMs. It has to do with the fact that Sense 4 was ported from another device with different BT hardware - so the Sense drivers aren't fully compatible.
With the release of T-Mobile's official RUU, it may be time try Sense 4 again and see if some of the previous issues I experienced are fixed now. But BT will probably always only be partially working due to the driver issue.

I tried Elegancia Sense 4 again last night. I thought it was time to give it another go since there have a few builds released since the last time. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. Whatever issues I'm having are buried deeper than what gets changed from build to build.
My phone has crashed on my twice in the last 5 hours. It's unfortunate. I really like Sense 4 - I think it's cleaner & smoother than 3.6. The camera is better and faster than 3.6. But if your phone crashes on you while changing menus or doesn't wake up and you have to pull the battery all the time, then it's useless.
Does anyone else have these issues with Sense 4? Maybe another Sense 4 ROM is better? I have not yet tried another Sense 4 ROM because it seems they all use the same base. Maybe I should try another and see if it works better...
The new InsertCoin ROM Sense 4.0 is out now, looks very stable, only FM Radio not working. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546731
I just flashed OrDroid Sense 4. I'll give that one a shot. It has a different base - the new leaked Ville RUU instead of the One S. The Ville and Sensation share the same processor, so maybe that will do the trick.
EDIT: That one's no good for me either. It has its own set of glitches I'm not willing to live with.
Now trying Steve's new TMOUS Elegancia with Bricked kernel.
Any tradeoffs for non Sense ROMs? I know the camera app is better on HTC's but other than that? Is there a Torch app similar to the stock one? Etc..
...and back on Elegancia 3.7.6. lol
I am running the updated TMOUS firmware now, tho. along with the other radio fix for TMOUS users. This might be the best combo I've run yet. But I'm still anxious for a fully functional Sense 4 ROM.

Try the new Miktouch 0.7 ROM. It is based on the latest OTA (1.63.531.2) and IMO is the most functional ROM available. And it is very smooth and quick, great battery life. The improvements that HTC made to the ROM, as well as the tweaking and cleaning up that the devs did, make it my daily driver. I want everything to work, no "gotchas".

can WiFi Calling be added to either of those 2 roms? From the looks of it it doesn't come pre-installed...
Thanks

Hello,
I can recommend Virtuous Inquisition to you. Its an ICS 4.0.3 ROM that I am running on my HTC Doubleshot since round 2 weeks and its really good! Till now I did not have any issues with anything but some minor things (once in a while you lose WiFi connection which you can enable again just by switching WiFi off and then on again. This happens only if you do not use WiFi and the phone falls sleep mode - the screen turns black).
The configurations are limitless. It comes with NOVA launcher. I bought the premium version and am very happy with the capabilities and possibilities it gave me!
In case you want HTC Sense, you can check out Virtuous Primadona. I did not try this one but read quite many reviews and its also stable and seem to be running nicely on Doubleshot.
The good thing on Inquisitin is, the WiFi calling is integrated. As I am from Switzerland it took me a while to finlly remove it ^^
Cheers

huh that sounds great. i really don't care about sense so i'd be fine using nova. is the 4.0.3 version noticeably smoother than the 2.3 that comes normally? i would think it would be but also because its an older phone i'm not sure...
thanks

I have been using Bulletproof for months now, and have seen no issues what so ever. Everything works, including Wifi Calling! I have tried alot of the roms here, but I need my rom to be perfect, that is why I keep coming back to bulletproof. I am hoping CM9 will soon become perfect enough for me so I can upgrade to ICS, but it still isn't perfect enough for me. Go with bulletproof.

But if the Wi-Fi continuously disconnects when the screen goes off and must be reawakened to work, that really defeats much of the function of Wi-Fi Calling. How can you receive calls if your wi-fi is disconnected?

I agree that is why I stopped using inquisition...... I am happily using cm9 but if you want three zero problem roms then stock I suggest mik mik v.7, for a beast gingerbread the rubix ics splashed, or if you want ics with minimal issues then cm9 untill the soft keyboard issue is fixed on aokp then I would switch to that.... I am going to do the same once the issue is solved

and heeeeeeere we go... hahaha
i guess i'll give bulletproof a try if i even bother. i love android but i also hate android. bah.
I'm currently on pyros ics and it doesn't work with the camera or video.... Which is not a good thing....
Anyother roms have this issue?
If I can fix this , how?

Which Pyro? 1.1.3 and 1.1.1 work pretty good except for a few annoyances....but those annoyances have work-arounds.
Personally, I am on Inquisition until CM9 gets as stable or better than Inquisition.

Hi sorry for the late answer, I am on my finals right now and it's getting harder to find time...
Virtuous seem to have some issues with wifi, though I was talking with tbalden and he said he's working on kernel 3 atm which shows no issues with wifi or 3G / 4G... So let's wait for the next upgrade
For me wifi works good, sometimes it bugs a bit though... Don't forget here they are stil in ROM development so some minor things are not perfect.
You can still try Virtuous Primadonna, got an update a few days ago. For me Cm9 did not work so good, force closing many apps, changed back to inquisition. I suppose we'll have to wait for another month or so to get a rc rom (Cm9, pyro, virtuous or another..)

So I haven't really been following the MyTouch4g Slide Rom scene that much and after going through some of the threads, my question is: are there any roms et with no issues/bugs?
I was thinking about finally rooting but I'm not sure if there's really any reason to yet as I'm not gonna install a ROM that still has issues...
Thanks

BulletProof is a great ROM. Along that same design idea is DoubleShot Lite by Ceede. Another you might be interested in is Miui v0.3 and those are just the Gingerbread ROMs I've found to be rocksolid and near flawless. Then you have some really nice ICS ROMs that are coming along NICELY! Believe me, you won't be dissappointed with any of them unless you just happen to be looking for a little issue hidden somewhere.
So tbalden released kernel 3 vinq (ICS 4.0.3) for doubleshot: virtuous.prp2.com/doubleshot/inquisition/virtuous_inquisition-v4.0.2-doubleshot-kernel3_v2.zip
Very recommendable, everything working, very stable, oc to 1.7ghz like Cm9...
As wifi is working also w/o any issues now (at least for me), I assume you can use wifi-calling with vinq... It's integrated btw.
Hope I could help you

[Q] Best Rom for MT4GS

Hi I just bought my MT4GS a couple of days ago, I upgraded from a Mytouch 3g (SuperCSVI 4.0), I also want to modify this phone. Im looking for a rom that is stable, depenable, and fast. The development forms dosn't seem to be makeing much progress with jellybean other than wildchilds VanillaBean. Also I would help alot if it were Sense 4+. Can anybody help?
It sounds like you just described Virtuous Inquisition.

Its like this man, straight and to the point without being mean. You are not going to find ANY 100% solid ROM that no one has a complaint over. We have 2 ROMS based on Stock OTA Updates that's it. Everything else is a port of this or that or a build from source.
So you ask what do I gain if ROM X has this broken and ROM XX has this broken, well we have gained 2 updates past what HTC wanted us to have along with many more features, all while losing 1080 recording only.

I understand what your saying, not even the stock roms are perfect either. thanks for explaining though. How about in this way then, what is the most stable and fastest, with the fewest bugs?
Get the virtuous infinity 1.33 alpha 3 then get their vi updater apk and update to 1.35 beta 1 ....i am running that with the 3.0.39 kernel imbedded:everything works.....

Just be sure and go to my mirror thread here in my signature and flash the Unofficial All Inclusive Patch along with it. It makes ALL the difference.
CM9.1 found in ROM Manager. Sense = bloatware

I love Sense. For me, the Sense ROMS like VI or MikXE (the one I'm running now) are far more stable and capable than CM9.
They both have their virtues but I'm like you and do love sense. I'm pretty impartial when it comes to either. I just enjoy being amazed at the capabilites of the developers' works that we all take advantage of and yet often critisize. I know I couldn't do what they do.

I had trouble finding the download link for 1.33 alpha 3. Finally found it here at Rootz (traced it from XDA through several pages at VirtuousRom.com and then finally to Rootz).

I assume this "all-inclusive" patch should be flashed AFTER upgrading to 1.35 beta 1?
OH yes. ROM.....OTA...then patch it all.
Need some help from you doubleshot-experienced folk, please!

Where can I find this kernel? I'm looking and am not finding it. I'm trying to mimic your "everything works" setup and I think I've gotten what you said to get except for the kernel. I currently have 3.0.17-Don2x-gecb4581 and am experiencing the following two problems which seem to be very possibly kernel-related (otherwise I wouldn't bother):
1) Device randomly reports no signal when it should have a signal (either toggling Airplane Mode or a reboot always fixes this). Clearly, in this state, data, voice, and SMS do not work, which is quite problematic.
2) Battery randomly reports ~half of the capacity that it's really at (rebooting always fixes this). It's kinda strange - charging it overnight will only charge to 49%. But once you reboot it then it's magically at ~95%. (Yes, I've cleared battery stats.) And it seems to be fairly sporadic - doesn't always do this. Like I said, it's strange...
Also, what baseband should I be on? It's currently reporting 11.59.3504.00P_11.16.3504.20_2.
Lastly, for my "Build number", even though I've flashed the 1.35 beta 1 zip and running the OTA update APK, it still reports as "Virtuous Infinity v1.33.0 Alpha3". Is this right? Seems strange to me. Running the OTA Update apk again states that "The ROM developer has not enabled support for the OTA Updater! Please ask them (kindly) to add support before using this app! (otaupdater.otaid value empty or missing)".
If I've done something wrong, all of the above are the indications of such mistakes. Many thanks!
I don't know what happened unless you maybe got a corrupt download. The Mirrors, Tools.... thread in my sign. will give you another DL site. Post #3 Developer #2
That's the same Radio I have except mine is "00U" instead of "00P" . And that is the way the build reads on mine too. I think the Alpha designation tells the tale tho. Just try a full wipe and a reflash of new DL's. This has been one of the smoothest most solid ROMs I've run once it was patched. I HAVE heard of a couple of phones that didn't seem to like the all inclusive patch though. You might try just flashing those patches as a problem arises and you may get better responses from them. Kinda just a guess tho....
When I want fast, and stable, I go with Virtuous Inquisition. That one has the best day to day user experience for me. The only thing I miss with that ROM is the 1080P camcorder, and my stock camera with face detection, and burst shot that works etc.. The Brute Force TV Out add on is definitely not as good as the stock TV out and I miss that when using the Inquisition ROM as well. However, Inquisition is such a nice user experience that I use is often and keep a good nandroid of it. Even the hardware keyboard works the way I want it to include the Alt and CAPs lights.
When I really want to carry that good camera around and have TV out so I can bring Netflix to a friend's house that doesn't have Netflix, I still find myself booting up Bulletproof 1.0 (Before the green invasion). In that ROM I replaced all the pink apps with the "de-pinked" ones (Lockscreen, Contacts, Messages, Calendar etc.), changed the color of the pink message bubbles (ya know the ones that pop up with a number to tell you how many unread texts you have) to blue and I find this ROM to be nice stable user experience with some extra tweaks and extended power menu thanks to the groundwork laid out by RomanBB and then carried on by Blue6IX.
I'm keeping an eye on the MikTouch ROM based on the updated OTA stock ROM. That is a very smooth stock experience and I really appreciate that the developer (developers?) are still giving the Stock ROM some love and I feel it has great potential for those who don't want to lose ANY of the features that made this phone worth buying in the first place. Personally, I feel the hardware keyboard, camera, and TV out were the main reasons I bought this phone and I'm not willing to give those features up and switch to any other ROM full time regardless of how cool they look or how smooth they run.
I think the hard work by all the developers trying to give MT4GS more enhancements and options is amazing stuff and much appeciated, but Bulletproof and Inquisition are still my favorites at the moment. Unfortunately, neither project sees any further development so take it as it is, don't take it at all, or see what you can do to make them better for yourself.
Oh and if you want the ROM with the best battery life, it's the one with a Mugen 3600 battery...just sayin'. I have no complaints about battery life of any ROM with Mugen under the hood.
[UPDATE] MIkTouch is now my favored stock ROM choice.

Exactly. The only thing that was stopping me from using the CM7 Alpha was that the SD card wouldn't read.
well in regard to this post. i installed Jelly Bean(Vanilla Bean) rom on to mt4gs last night it has good potentioal but it is lackiing in alot places. i was previously using cyanogenmod9 alpha6 i believe and before i was using virtous 1.33 Alpha 3. however i wanted to know in your professional opinions are there any roms for MT4GS i should try. side note jelly bean is fast but cant use stock android keyboard, so i had to download from market those siine and swift keyboard apps to work also the rom is very twitchy. my mt4gs is with S-On. any opinions are welcome thank you.
One of those is a beta and one an alpha. Great work but not quite complete. There are several really great ROMs out there waiting to be tried. All you hvae to do is make a backup of the one you're on and check a few out. Try a few that are actual releases (you should be able to tell from the title) and see what you like. It's ALWAYS the best way.

Why you don't use this rom:

or you can use this form virtuosrom:

Anyway, install Titanium backup and remove what u want; thats all.

Ive been searching for a solid rom since I got my phone in late November. Out of the 6 or so roms I have downloaded the most common problems are.
1) Software keyboard doesnt work.
2) USB File copying either doesnt work, requires a paid app or is very slow.
3) Battery drains faster or wont fully charge.
4) GPS becomes hit or miss
5) Support for promising roms suddenly stop, making you wait for someone else to port another rom which has almost the same sort of problems.
Most of the roms are stable, they are missing some critical things.
