t989 to skyrocket conversion

Just wondering....if anyone is using this. Can u flash a att kernel after u flash the conversion. The stock kernel stinks. Slow. no BLN support. Thanks

Udon't really need that conversion kit. Just flash the t989 rom u want in cwm and flash the kernel u like best right after, then reboot. faux 010m is my favourite, then reboot. As a precaution though, make sure you read all the threads kn flashing in the dev section before u brick ur phone

The kit merely contains a stock at&t SR /boot and a gps.conf file. Nothing special.

Ya. I've been around this site a while. Flashed roms kernels modems etc...on my captivate infuse and now skyrocket. So I have some experience. Alot of bricks so I know all about them. Do u have a link for that kernel u use? Thanks for ur help

Might b a stupid question but is there any way to flash a 989 rom and use the kernel with it instead of flashing a 727 kernel? Or is that brick city? Kernels always scared me

Shouldn't brick but you will have unique screen orientation till you flash a kernel that's made for your device like what was just linked on the page before this

Already did. Its OK. Flashed beastmod ex 5.0. Not as fast as it probably should b because of the difference in kernel. Was just curious what would happen if I tried to run it the way it comes. Thanks

Yeah, beastmod looks nice, but u be able to get LTE, or even 4g, without a t989 radio

If you are already flashing things in CWM, flashing a kernel is cake, like my name says. Just honestly, flash the ROM, wipe the caches, flash the kernel and do a jig. If anything goes wrong you'll still be able to boot back into CWM and re-flash something else. As long as you aren't using ODIN to flash a boot / kernel you have nothing to worry about.

I am running SKY ICS and DA_G's kernal yet I can't get BLN to work. Any ideas??

You are running the Gingerbread ROM right?
If so....just flash faux 010 kernel. Then bln should work.

I tried that kernal as well with no success.

Have you tried the 009 kernel. Its the older one. I think it worked. Haven't used BLN since then.

I have cleared cache and dalvik prior to each kernel and still am having no luck.

You realize it doesn't work with stock messaging? use gosms or something? disable screen on? Stuff like that must be done

Start over and flash the ROM again.
Then boot it and let it settle.
Then wipe 3x cache and 3x dalvik.
Then flash the kernel.
Reboot and see if it works.

Or use SMS pop up with pop ups off that's the work around..... this makes me miss bln and want it back for cm9

Progress is looking good, though. Hope it wont be long!

Got it working but it is different than the GSII BLN. It used to work still even if you woke the phone but didn't unlock and BLN would light up again. This as soon as you touch the button BLN deactivates. Thanks guys.

Are you using the "BLN Control" app from the Play Store? With that the lights should pop anytime you get a notification, even if the phone is sleeping. If you you have the stock SMS and want to keep it get the app "SMS popup" from the store and turn the notification off in the SMS client. When I was on GB that was the setup I had and it worked perfect.

[Q] Wifi Problems When Flashing Custom Kernal

hey guys! im new to POSTING to XDA but not new to using your FANTASTIC ROMS etc. i usually have it down reading all your great threads and finding the answer. but this one has me stumped!
i have a At&t infuse. i used kies to get the recent 2.3.6 update. i then rooted and have no custom kernal or anything. reason being, everytime i flash a CUSTOM KERNAL like Entropys DD my wifi always has some problems. it connects dont get me wrong. but it doesnt stay on for but 3minutes before it turns off and comes RIGHT BACK ON! i cant watch videos or download great roms with wifi interuptions! lol ive read and read and read till my eyes bleed and cant find why.
i HAVE: used ODIN to go back to stock and try again, nope//used Heimdall and still NOPE// i even Used ODIN with Entropys DD already in it and still have the same problem. (using Entropys most recent 3-4-12(i think))// I Even got another INFUSE and still same problem!//i have WIPED WPED WIPED my fingers sore and still nothing// And yes i have purchased a NEW router also and renewed lease to 2weeks or somehing other than never. THIS DOESNT HAPPEN WHILE STOCK only when using Custom kernals, AND NOT JUST ENTROPYS!!
so please please gus help me out!! sorry for the lengthy post but try to understand my frustration! lol thanks again!!

ok just in case anyone is folowing, i found Entropys CURRENT kernal (4-4-12), works great!
discussion on link provided, i have also attacehed ENTROPY's (4-4-12) Kernal in a .zip, its flashable through SGS (kernal flasher). fixed all my problems! thanks and good luck! (HDMI-out via MHL WORKS GREAT!)

sorry for the late response, but yes. correct.

Even i have the same wifi disconnect problem every 2 minutes, problem started when i had to root my 2.3.6 and i installed Entropy's Daily Driver, then i installed zeus 6 still had the problem then i installed I997UCLB3-CWM-root-deodex-extras i still have the same problem
guys so installing 4-4-12 will resolve the issue or its just the same?

i have installed the 4-4-12 from entropy using sgs flasher but still the same problem

this is an issue i am plagued with as well... except it only happens at home, never at work.
Any thoughts Entropy or Bigjoe?

I also have this problem. I installed I997UCLB3-CWM-root-deodex-extras from a stock GB infuse and got this problem...now i'm running Recursion V1 with the same problem.

i called belkin support thinking it was my router... it wasnt, chaanged all kind of settings still disconnects. talked to samsung, no fix there either. i know i have done a clean flash so i know thta isnt the problem. must be something to do with the kernel or modems. but like i said only happens on my home network, never at work on wifi..

The simple fix is to change your home router dhcp settings from never too something else..ex: 2wks

You download it to a your sd card ever one cwm can access. And then just flash the zip. All it took for me. But what fixed my problem was changing the DHCP setting in my router from never to two Weeks

AHHH! I got it to work. I kept trying to do it from the cwm app. When i manually entered the cwm recovery using vol and power...it worked. Now i gotta test it.

id stay away from rom manager. really not to much use for it except for borking your phone

CM9 Official Nightly for Skyrocket Discussion thread

edit:If you are a new user and have barely used CM9 and want a stable release then you will want to run CM9 Stable
It seems that with the release of the T989 source code and kernel the skyrocket nightly was able to become official. You can download the nightly and other builds for the skyrocket here at the skyrocket CM And since there is no official thread yet lets all discuss it here instead of flooding team chopsticks threads

update: It appears that the nightlies are showing up in rom mananger. Whatever you do DO NOT use rom manager to flash this. Theres a chance that you may hard brick using rom manager.
Update: there are new recoveries that are available through rom manager and through the clockwork mod website. There are numerous problems with the new recoveries so its advised that you stay away until they are more stable.

Maybe just download the app and enable it and see if it works?

Install bln app from market and see if it says its compatible

I am assuming its the same install process as any other ROM? I also read that you need to install the Gapps right after. Did you have to do this with the link you posted, or is it already in the zip?
Finally, did you remove your external SD card before flashing? I know CM9 is different with the emmc/SD card. I dont want it to fry my external SD when I flash. I read there is an option to switch the storage in CM9.

You dont need to remove your sd. Just use the steps for teamchopsticks cm9 alpha and it will work fine.

I blew all my thanks on you guys! I've noticed that the t989 and the skyrocket both dont have overclocking so I would say they are on the same page.

They should soon

As smully1 pointed out in the cm9 alpha thread you can also download the nightlies through the goo manager app from the play store

looks like the cap lights are still a tad goofy like a4, but BLN works great :-D

I was going to mention this to you yesterday, but I was fretting over the nook... :silly:

Has anybody else been getting errors in Clockwork Recovery. I have downloaded Milestone 2 for this ROM almost three times and everytime I try to flash, it accesses the file but installation gets aborted for some reason.
I can flash any other rom normally. Just had to flash AOKP again

The kernel that is included in this rom,Erik, is there anyway you could make it a flashable zip to our other ics goodies?lol I'm on your poopy rom right now,and it is the **** lol but I like the governors we now have a choose from,like smooth ass.xD

i have a flashable zip for the kernel at home, although I'm not sure it's the most current. Erik was working on android stuff all night and just went to bed two hours ago. When I hear from him I'll find out wassup. Depending on the scheduler/governor combo battery life can really suck. e.g. vr + lagfree. There is some stuff he wants to do to it still. Also, to answer a question from the dev thread this is CWM not TWRP recovery.

Would it be alright if you could pm me and send me a flash able zip? Whenever you have the chance?
